bought a xperia 10 2 weeks ago.
im coming from a nexus 5x, checking my first shots i was really shocked how much lower the quality of the xperia 10 camera is.
in my opinion the nexus 5x is still under top10 camera qualitiy, so i was really upset when it died.
but anyway, i was aware of this fact before i chose this phone. i can accept it. looking forward to a good android development with my xperia 10.
in a sunny spring daytime scenario there are good results possible. whatever app you choose, xperia camera app or open camera. doesnt matter that much
im really curious what picture quality would come out with a working gcam mod. (i know its not possible)
even my htc u11 life came near to my nexus 5x with gcam mod.
I am surprised how bad the camera is compared to the pixel 3xl. I believe sony uses a samsung sensor in this phone.
It's not possible to do a gcam mod?

There is no Raw export from the camera. It is impossible for gcam to work

I'm not super picky, but things look fine to me; if you look at them on a computer at full size they're a little noisy but since I'm only really interested in quick snapshots it's good for me. I'd attach examples, but I guess there's a minimum post count for that or something.
RAW Support: Camera2 API Probe reports RAW is not supported. (I3223 model)
Anyone having issues with the camera app crashing after taking first pic? bloody annoying.
I think it's crashed once for me, maybe, but nothing repeated or predictable.
It's acceptable 21:9 ?
4:3 style

There was an update that came out this week, 53.0.A.4.114. Not sure if it fixed the issue yet or not but will test it out for a few day to find out. If gtg than this will be a near perfect device for my needs.

Its not too bad for the price. Quality comparable to my LG G5. If you feel that the photo quality is bad, give Google Camera mods a try.

Can you please upload original photos you have taken using RN8? Thank you!
same camera as note 7, use Gcam and rule the world
Mine took some good pics but it's way too early to say anything because I have this phone for like (only) 1 day.

Picture taken with Gcam
I've got some good decent photo in daylight, also in low light in close range
Photos are clearly better than iPhone 8 and Samsung note 8 due to huge sensor. Low light is also good. Video quality also alright but not as good as iPhone anyway due to lack of optical stabilization. The lens aperture at f/1.9 is restricting this phone a bit at night time shooting sometimes but Using latest GCam by wyroczen, pics can be stunning.
Very bad photo quality even with gcam (heavy wrong color). Don't buy this phone if you focus on camera quality
it has nice quality overall, it's obvious you have to use gcam, xiaomi's photo app sucks. Overall good looking pictures

Yes of course , I bought a mi a3 and I ain't know that it is based on pure Android so I sold it because I am mad of MIUI , then I bought a RN8 4,64 , but I unfortunately it was stolen after about 15 days , at last I bought RN8 PRO about 3 weeks ago ، so I have tested all of these 3 devices and my idea is RN8 PRO is the best , and it is better than Samsung A series (all models)

I can definitely answer this one. The moto camera app is very very bad. At least for the front camera, it destroys photos with noise and blur. It is in really bad shape and I got a significantly better results using Gcam. I felt the need to inform you guys about this. Mind the front camera, it's worse than g7 plus, it's worth saying it doesn't record in 4k. I'm very upset by this. And it seems it's hardware
Try the GCam! The pics are much much better than with the stock camera app

Generally very underwhelmed by the quality of the camera. Coming from a P20 Pro, the Nord photos seem softer, less detailed and the background blur far less accurate. They just aren't as nice to look at overall.

agree, waiting for a good gcam version with matching xml file to see if things improve enough, but first results are not looking that promising. To be fair, Pixel phones have spoiled me...

It doesn't seem like this is a hardware problem - the main sensor is very capable, but the software is really letting it down. Lets hope it improves with time.
I think this phone has a good "quality vs price" . the OP Nord is twice cheaper than Mi 9 T Pro , or P20 Pro on his launch.
It cannot be compared to them.

Why have a 48mp camera without zoom in. You then have to mess around with crop and zoom. Crappy oneplus software GCam the same
for me, nord pictures are terrible, coming from pixel 2 xl.
everything is boosted, contrast, highlights, and exposure.
they are pain in the eyes
Coming from op5t i'm impressed. Photo and video quallity, options and functionality are much better. With the gcam mod main camera photos are even better. Now if we want to be be fair we have to compare it's camera with the rest midrange devices of 2020 and from what i've read and watched Nord's camera is on top...

So, I reverted the photo app to ver.7.x.x and even in poor lighting conditions(cloudy, 1/2 an hour to sunset) the pics look better than w/ the latest version.(better details on rocks surface, tree trunks etc...)

what you did not like in v.8? I saw the HDR is always on (on my previous Pixel 3a XL it was a choice)..
I thought the pictures were lacking sharpness and contrast, well it's an arbitrary, subjective opinion, but i think the pics look better after switching the app to older version.

Here's a couple photos of the jupiter/saturn conjunction the other night. I turned on night mode, the camera turned on astrophotography mode automatically. I had the phone resting against the car spoiler during the one minute exposure to keep it as stable as possible.

Missed the conjunction due to cloudy nights, got Orion/Betelgeuse tonight:
