(question) how to upgrade device tree? - Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I have a Samsung Galaxy A7 2015 (A700FD). The phone is currently in Android 6.0 and there are no more upgrades for it. I wanted to upgrade to Android Oreo or Pie, so I did some research How to Build a Custom Rom, and everything worked out except the device tree compatible. I found a GitHub thread for A700FD but the device kernel is for CM12/Andoid Marshmallow. I need a guide on how to upgrade the device kernel to oreo or pie. I would like to continue developing for A700FD device. Anyone know how to upgrade a device tree. Doesn't matter the device you are using, I just need the procedures. Thanks!

Oxygen OS for YU Yureka

One Plus One just released their latest OS Oxygen for their devices. You can find the details from their website. Wondering if someone develop the Oxygen OS custom ROM for Yureka device.
That is exclusively designed for Single device in this whole universe and need not arrive/port to other as it doesn't have many revolutionary feature . Here Dev's are working hard to bring most stable CM ROM to this device and hence I'd assume its difficulty...
Can it be ported via android kitchen

Need some help to start kernel coding on Galaxy J5

Hi everybody,
I am new to this forum, so I introduce myself a bit:
I am the owner of a Samsung Galaxy J5 (2015) J500F, bought in India.
running Android 6.0.1 from last official update.
I am a long time linux developer, (more than 20 years), but I have not a lot of experience on android dev,
I have already compiled some kernels for my old wiko phone, and test them successfully...
On my Galaxy J5, I already installed TWRP for 6.0.1, and supersu via TWRP to root it..
my Goal , is to port some of Nethunter kernel patches,
mainly android usb hid keyboard patch ( github.com/pelya/android-keyboard-gadget )
and wifi injection patches also.. this is the basic need for a Nehunter port.. with some kernel .config mods also..
There is already a Galaxy A5 port in Nethunter Github, and it should not be too hard to port nethunter to Galaxy J5 I Think..
Sorry for this lengthy introduction,
So my question is....
From which source code do I have to start to compile a stock kernel for android 6.0.1 for Galaxy J5 (J500F) ?
I found the Nick Verse Repository: github.com/DJSteve/kernel_j500fn_djsteve
thereis also: github.com/Galaxy-J5/samsung_j5_kernel-mm.git (kernel for CyanogenMod 13.0 I think)
ans also: github.com/Galaxy-J5/kernel_samsung_j5lte (kernel for CyanogenMod 12.1 I think)
and other ones laying around.. (MSM8916 samsung released ?? )
so from which kernel source code do I have to start, to build an android 6.0.1 stock kernel for a J500F ????
I want to start from an unmodified kernel, then add each patch one by one, test them, to validate each steps...
I hope some one will have some time to help me

will there ever be a majos os update officially in sm-t285? it is still stuck in android 5.1.1 lollipop when other A series tablets are already in higher android version . Even sm-t585 got official android 8.
So are we sm-t285 users gonna stuck in this lollipop rom for always? Won't it ever get any official update??
i want to say thanks to sir "jedld" for his awesome works of making custom roms (CM 13 and LineageOS 14.1) for this tablet sm-t285..?? i hope he sees this..?

Is it possible to port GSI firmware for SM-T350?

Hello. I am new in Snapdragon rom porting, but I have some experience with MTK6580 only.
Now, my main working device is Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 SM T-350 and I want make it updated.
Having spent a lot of time searching for information, I decided to ask your advice. I'm interested in whether it's possible to port GSI firmware to Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 SM T-350.
I check the device specs. It is not Treble device. It has a 32 bit soc - Snapdragon 410. The soc A type, if I'm not mistaken.
And moreover, I found the 32 bit GSI Firmware - DotOS 5.2 (Android 12), with A-type support.
This device already has Lineageos 18.1 Go, so I dare say that the kernel should be suitable for Android 12. But, I don't know exactly about this kernel.
If you have some guides or information about such porting, I will be grateful
Devices older than the SM-T350 have been treble-ized so I think it's possible, but I personally have no plans on doing so. You should research which older devices have been treble-ized and study their git changes to see what is required. It likely will require kernel and device tree changes.
As far as I know, no msm8916 device has been treble-ized, but I could be wrong on that.
