Do someone knows if xiaomi will release source code for this device, I like support for custom rom and etc
And as far as i can see the device has no support other than xiaomi.
Also the forum is a mess i dont believe its a good device to buy. All people waiting for redmi 7 or redmi 7 pro?
For the new devices, within 3 months after the release.

My brother wants to buy me a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro and I want some advice from you if is worth to buy this phone or not.
I think that for a cheap phone comes with some features that you can get with a high priced phone and here I'm talking about the fingerprind reader and the gyro wich I don't see it in many cheap phones and I realy want to try the VR thing wtih this.
What are the pro and cons for this phone? I see that this thread is for Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and I want to ask if the bootloader for Pro is also unlocked and if the custom ROMs like CM13/14.1 will work for the Pro version.
Cheers!
@vraciu'
I have two of them. Wouldn't buy them today anymore. Not because of the hardware, because of the ROMs. CM13 (for Kenzo) is unfinished and stopped because of developers are focusing on CM14, and because of that some features are missing. CM14, on the other hand, is weeks / months far from being stable.
If you will buy, buy the Pro. It's Snapdragon based, the other, Kate, is Mediatek based. But I don't know if you will find the 3, now, that 4 is out.
I got my Note 3 Pro just last week. I'm extremely happy with it. It's an amazing phone at the price.
The bootloader comes locked, but Xiaomi will unlock it (with ~50% success rate it seems), or there are unofficial ways to unlock the bootloader.
I'm running CM14.1 on my phone right now. So far, it seems very stable, no issues that I've noticed so far.

Kate is not MediaTek based, Kate is just the Kenzo with additional 2mm height, and additional LTE bands.
The Hennessy is the MTK based.
Kenzo is probably the better one to get, assuming it has the LTE coverage you need. There are more cases and screen protectors designed for it.
Bootloader is locked, you can request an unlock from Xiaomi.
The camera is not good on this, that's probably the biggest negative.
Hi, since the launch of Redmi 3s prime i was very excited to buy this it has some great hardware installments in budget price i had no money back then but now I've it but now im confused.
There is not much development available for this device & I heard that kernel sources has been released even after that thread are still inactive. All i see is unofficial build of different ROMs and less active user ?
I'm an extremely FLASHAHOLIC user anf i keep changing ROMs in my current device Redmi 1S which has decent development.
Also There is redmi note 3 which i can buy instead (but used) has very good android development.
Now please tell me should i buy this device ?
Are ROMs and Kernels being building ?
@d3kod3 Kernel sources has been released not so long ago - at the very beginning of this year. So the development for our device will improve, that's only a matter of time. Thanks to our really great team of fantastic and talented developers, we have already nearly 100% working custom roms - major bugs were eliminated and everything seems that we will see happy ending ?
I see a lot of people asking for MIUI.. There are all these Redmi devices and other devices from Xiaomi with MIUI.. This phone (Mi A1) is a device with stock Android.. Why sould it be different from the other Android one devices???? Because you want MIUI?? There are people including myself who bought this device for the software. And not for MIUI.. When I had the LG Nexus 5 years before, I didnt remember anyone asking for a rom with LG UX skin.. Stop with this MIUI.. I get it.. Most people like it and it's okay.. My brother has the Mi 6 and he loves it.. I personally don't like it.. And I would never buy a Mi 6 or a Mi Mix or a Redmi Note device and ask all the time the developers to build a stock like Android rom because I don't like MIUI buti would buy a OnePlus or a Pixel or a Moto phone....
I'm changing my device to a Redmi 4x, so i'm no longer supporting redmi 2 officially, if anyone need help on something kernel related you can send me a message in PM
This was one of the best device communities I was on. See ya everyone! :fingers-crossed:

Thank you for all the support to our device.

I'm still waiting for one last rom that is miui 9 stable.
After that i have to buy a new device , redmi note 5 i hope.
Love this device yet, came use for 3 years rough. No problems yet.
Good bye redmi 2 R.I.P
Asking since the RN5 got dropped from the list and the RN6 never got support, but the RN4 is still supported for some reason
+1 on that.
Guys, it depends on two things: 1) If Xiaomi releases its source code for that model
2) If a dev buys that model
As much as it hurts to say, I don't think so, RN7 has a very weak developing community so far, so it might take long to get official Lineage if they ever decide to develop for us.
