car charger - HTC Bolt / 10 Evo Questions & Answers

Hi,
I use EVO 10 to run Waze navigation in my car and I'm looking for a charger that can cope with that load.
What charger I've got now (ISY QC 3.0) is failing in such case and this phone quite annoyingly places a large overlay dialog box almost covering the entire screen...
Anyone had success choosing a better car charger?
Thanks
Update: Solved, bought a samsung charger.
And the cable itself was also playing a role in charging failure.

[Q] 5V USB charger controlling my WP7. Is this normal?

I just received my stash of charging gear for my Optimus 7 today, bought from DX. Having read everywhere that USB chargers are 5V +/- 10%, and seeing that the original LG charger outputs 4.8V, I thought my purchase was ok and that this charger would work.
Turns out it doesn't. When I connect the phone to the charger via USB, I lose control of the touchscreen and the system gains a mind of its own. I literally just hold my phone in my hand and stare while it randomly enters hubs and either opens an email message or dials someone. The physical buttons still respond correctly, and it's not until I disconnect the charger from the wall socket or the phone from the USB cable that I can regain control of the phone. My guess is it's a hardware fault and not software.
Granted this unofficial charger cost me around $1, but I got some similar 5V car chargers to go with it, and I've never had problems with other USB chargers.
Unofficial charger specs:
Input: 100-240V 0.15A (0.15A) 50-60hz
Output: 5V 1A
Does someone else have this issue? Is the Optimus 7 an uncommon device for requiring 4.8V input instead of 5V?
Your problem is NOT the charger, as that has nothing to do with the functions of the phone.
Your problem is that your LG Optimus 7 E900 is a DEMO unit, with a DEMO ROM. And until you flash a stock ROM onto your phone, you will experience the demo played out while connected to a power source.
You sure? Because I tried it with the 5V 1A car adapters and no problem, and the original 4.8V 1A charger gives me no problems either.
How do I check my ROM version? Firmware is 1.0.7.10, OS is 7.0.7008.0 after the February update.
Can you get us video on this?
Please excuse the ****ty video quality
That is most fascinating. I recommend you stop using that charger on your phone
So, obviously, you do NOT have the demo ROM as I suspected initially.
Since you say it works with another 5V 1A charger, then I think this specific charger may be sending unexpected, random data signals down the USB cable, resulting in the unresponsive and bizarre behaviour. Since the original charger works well, and charges pretty fast, just stick with that for now.
At least you got the update, here in Canada, we are still waiting for our first update.
And your English is so good, and without any accents...Are you sure you aren't from our here (North America)?
This is true magic Really I have no eplanation on this problem. It is only 0,2V
Yeah, and there I was thinking that the whole point of USB charging is that it's universal and totally compatible, no matter what adapter you buy and what cable you use, provided it connects well.
It seems this is not the case, and I'm weary of trying another third party USB charger, as I still cannot tell if this phenomenon is unique to the Optimus 7 or not. Sadly, the only other MicroUSB phones I have lying around don't actually support charging via this port, just data transfer.
i also admit that im "dazzled" by ur -smart-phone...
probably that adapter is"magical" somehow... did u try it on another phone??
+i also use different chargers but never had any abnormalities so far..
Though i use the original chargers that came with my blackberry 9700 and htc-desire, and just checked the blackberry output is 5v!! i cant read the htc...
So, probably that adapter of yours is a "mutant from another place"...
confirm, htc is also 5v...
ps2- i'm also on 7008, and havent got any issues with charging on both 7004 and 7008
The problem is in the charger, it's too chinese . I had this issue with other touchscreen phones, like SE X8, X10... Just change the charger, obviously it has some hum/noise...
lol...
too chinese? lol
im having the same issue when i use the lg power adapter.. it doesnt always happen but when it happen the touch screen just when berserk.
i always thought that it happens on all units. uh oh
To be honest, I thought you were crazy till I bought a Chinese adapter as well. Don't know the voltage, but I'll check it tomorrow. I think it might have to do with the way the unit is shielded, or not. The only time I wiggs out is when I leave it on the desk, but as soon as I pick it up and pull it a few inches away form the desk or any other object it works fine. But as soon as I put it back down, the screen does the same thing.
I have a usb plug that I plug into the computer that didn't do that at the same desk, I'm going to bring in my other charger and see if it rule out the outlet / interference or just the cheap a$$ adapter....
The only part that worries me, and the only reason I might stop using it, is it takes a bit from the time I unplug it to the time the phone realizes it's unplugged and the charging icon stops. Which doesn't happen with any other charger.
I had this problem too.. until I realized it affected my other touch screen devices too (Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab)... Turns out the 5V charger was the problem. Replaced it with a 5V charger of Philips/Belkin/Samsung/LG and all worked..
The unbranded 5V chargers don't work well with capacitive screens as they seem to be letting off some extra current.

[BUG] freezing with car charger

Hi everybody and pardon in advance if there's already any other thread about it (I didnt found ..).
I'm experiencing freezing after I remove sgs2 from car charger, or after I close a call while charging. trying to switch the screen off causes freezing, I haft remove battery.
further infoes:
-car charger features: 5v 1a and no problem with other devices
-no problem until screen is off, freezing appears when I start using the phone and than I switch the screen off.
-my app list is very long, but this bug happened from the very first day I bought sgs2
-I installed "battery indicator" from market. it has the capability to show temperature and volting. before the phone freezes, I can read: hi temperature (over 35°) and "overvolting" issue (over 4,8v) .
it seems my sgs2 doesnt fit perfectly my charger and goes to overvoltage. screen is very hot when it freezes.
-cpuset is conservative 200-800 (it solved hot issue in daily usage)
did anybody else experience this bug? any hint aside not use the car charger?
tnx in advance
Is it a Samsung Car Charger or from some different manufacturer?
There was a thread on here about using non Samsung wall chargers. The discovery was if the charger has a poor output (ie noisy) it will cause some glitching or visible stuttering to the display whilst swyping through screens and stuff.
Might be similar?
u right about wall charger: stuttering using 1A 5v htc charger (samsung one is 5v 0.7A) and different Amperage doesnt affects time to charge my galaxy.
I was talkin of car charger, maybe it's 1A to causes overvoltage? I ll give it a try with another one, or a samsung charger. I'm not using a samsung car charger.
tnx
I fixed!
this is how:
-bought new usb cable. no problem with 1A 5v charger, but cable was a chinese one, now I use original samsung
-changed settings in setup cpu: 200-1200mhz (it was 200-800 before). for some reason, underclockin could be responsible of undervolting
I dunno wich of the 2 fixed the problem, btw I got rid of that
tnx for any hint u gave

Nexus 7 Car Charger Issue

Hey all, quick question.
I have my Nexus 7 installed in my car. Originally it was getting power from a 500mah USB car charger, but it didn't provide enough power to the tablet when running GPS/maps, etc.
So I bought an "8Ware Dual USB Car Charger 5V/2A" to try. I plugged it in, and the tablet doesn't detect it or charge from it. However I can plug my Galaxy S3 into it and it charges fine.
Really confused about this - it makes no sense.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
I understand your frustration and it sucks!!
But sometimes even when it says UNPLUGGED and NOT CHARGING, just leave it there for 30-60 minutes. You might see that your battery actually increase... This happens with my Griffin PowerJolt Dual USB car charger also.
You can either blame the device or you can start blaming other issues like the charger, the usb cable etc but for me, I blame primarily on the device.

Thanks for that. I tried plugging it in for a while but it definitely didn't get a charge.
Hey All.. I looked forever to find a solution. The Targus 2A car charger has a small (3") adapter cable that comes with it purportedly for Galaxy Tab. That little cable with the data wires shorted on the device end allows the N7 to be charged from ANY 2A car charger. I'm using the adapter with a Scosche dual 2.1 Amp Car Charger

Targus Charger
Edit: I just built a usb cable with the data wires shorted on the Nexus end (cut, strip, short micro usb end green and white, remake connections red to red and black to black, insulate splices individually, wrap all in electrical tape or heat shrink for strength and beauty) and it works with all chargers. Took about 20 minutes.

[Q] How to keep up charging with DashCam app?

Been trying to find a convenient and affordable way to ensure I can charge my beloved S4 in my truck at a rate that can keep up with music streaming, navigation, and/or a dashcam app. It would be nice if it actually charged too, not just kept up.
So far, I have tried these chargers:
2.1A Output Dual USB Car Charger
1 Port USB Car Charger 2.1A
And this cable (note other lengths and right/left angles available):
Red Band Smartphone Quick Charge Cable
I can get just as fast a charging rate according to CurrentWidget as I can with the wall charger at home (1200mA).
Two problems.
One is I can not run Pandora and my Dash Cam App at the same time and still charge. Running the dashcam app alone, it still charges, but i need my music.
Two is how come I see people saying 1900mA? Is currentwidget lying to me? How come, even with the stock charger on an outlet I can't get over 1200mA?
Does anyone have any better suggestions for how to get the most out of car charging, or have I exhausted the best of the best?
P.S. I just ordered one of these to test out. Anyone have any experience with anything like this?

wireless charging

hi
could anyone recommend a wireless charger suitable for yota phone 2 which can be purchased in uk
never bought one before but guessing that there must be a specific output mA/h and frequency ?? that must be compatible??..
seen lots on ebay suitable for galaxy and iphones but dont know if compatible
thanks for any help - (nothing on yota site to buy)
I've bought a Qi charger like this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-Charger-Google-Samsung-BC252R/dp/B00FEAH0WW/
I use it mostly to recharge my Moto 360 smartwatch, but I've used it with the Yotaphone 2 as well, it seems to work fine.
The nice thing is that it's really compact, although it may not be what you're looking for.
I think that basically any Qi charger should work fine, I'm not aware of any frequency/voltage/output issue when using Qi chargers, although those sold online usually claim compatibility with a specific set of devices.
Nice
I can confirm that the Qi charger works well, the Yotaphone does automatically predict that the phone will be charged in a ridiculous amount of time, like 4x as fast as using a high current cable charger, but it does seem to be the fastest way of charging the device. My charger was from eBay and didn't cost a lot about GBP7.
Is there no official wireless charger?
Sent from my YD201 using Tapatalk
There's the official wireless charger sold by Yotaphone on their website, but it doubles as a portable USB/Qi battery charger, so it's definitely bulkier than most Qi chargers found on the net. It does work as expected, though...
I've been using this for some time now, but I rarely use the Qi function (I often use my phone while charging it, which requires the USB cable unless you can tap the phone's screen without moving the phone on the Qi pad, which I consider on the slippery side).
Also, the bulk/energy capacity of the official battery isn't the most impressive I've seen, wchich is to be expected since they had to fit the Qi electronics on top the battery cell under the cover.
Overall, still a useful & stylish piece of hardware, though...
I bought a Wireless Charger from Samsung and had the same problems which some of you described. The Phone started charging and then stopped with a blinking charger after 20 Seconds.
My solution was: Since this was a QI Charger with an output of 2A, i made the error of using a USB Charger with output of 1,5A. I switched the usb-charger and used one with an output of 2A and connected it to the QI Base.
And now it works. So my suggestion: Use a Charger with 2A.
My very cheap Chinese wireless charger is now working well after I gave up on it for not charging. As in other cases, the yotaphone has a mind of its own and takes a few days to change.
I bought Spigen Wireless charger from Amazon UK. Though Yotaphone detects and charges, I see the below issues
1. The charging time from ZERO to 90 takes around 3 hours. The remaining 10 percent takes ages (more than an hour)
2. When the phone is charging and if the screen turns OFF, the charging stops which makes the screen turns ON with LOCK Screen. Again the charging starts and this cycle continues. I had to use an app called Snoozy Charger which minimizes this issue (by turning the screen OFF when charging is detected)
But, one good thing I noticed with this ultra slow charging: The battery life looks much better. For example, I had a screen time of 45 minutes before the charge dropped from 90 to 87.
If somebody need original Yota mobile charger, I can order it from Yota directly.
Well, since the thread has already been necromanced:
I understand fairly little about wireless charging but am I right to assume that all wireless chargers require the phone to lie on it on its back? Or is that due to my charger being too weak or cheap or whatever? I would love to charge the phone wirelessly with the epd being visible because, after all, that side has all my notifications and the time and what have you.
i use this one from the IKEA
works great on my YotaPhone 2

But does it work while the phone is lying on it's front screen? So that the EPD is visible while charging?
There is definately variations between chargers. A cheap ebay charger that I have does not work with some cases on my other phone with Qi charging. But a more robust three coil Nokia wireless charger works perfectly with it. Unfortunately my Nokia wireless charger does not work with YotaPhone face down... the charging light on the charger keeps blinking so it is close to charging but not enough. Some a little more powerful charger would be able to do it I think. Unless the desing of Qi only works on one side of the phone.

its charging while laying on the frontscreen on my IKEA SINGLE pad. I do not know for the triple one ??
Again the single pad is working great
Great it works on an single pad ! But I wanted to use it mobile..like in my car or motorcycle.
Sadly i know now it doesn't use an usb kind of charger but an 19 volt (??) adapter.

The only trick is to supply min required amperage for the charger requirements. You can find exact output values on the wireless charger. General manner: input amperage must be near/high as far as the ouput amperage. My Chinese cheap wireless charger output is 5V and 1.5A. And i can use it with 5v 1.2A AC charger problem-free.
Update:
i discovered that the cable is also an issue for the reason. If you connect a normal power support only cable to the Qi charger, you will probably be faced the problem. But if you connect a Data cable, you can use your PC's usb with your Qi charger. I can use it now like the way.
How can I disable display wake-up and stay-on, if QI-charging? (Android 6)
