Help with JOdin - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi,
I am trying to restore my stock firmware, but am resorting to JOdin as I am on a MAC. The buttons are sightly different to the instructions I have been given (see attachment);
Which firmware files do I put in which field??? The files I have are;
AP_G950F......
BL_G950F......
CP_G950F......
CSC_OTF_G950F......
HOME_CSC_OTF_G950F......
Now I understand that either of the CSC files can go in the CSC box, and the BL files goes in the bootloader box, but I am unsure on the other two, PDA and PHONE... Is PHONE the CP file, or the AP file??? and is PDA the CP files or the AP File???
Some quick advice please

Now I just have to figure out why it thinks one of the files is corrupt I've downloaded it twice from Sammobile now :/ I'm trying to roll back from Pie to OREO :/

I tried to use JOdin too but i gave up cause it seemed not workinh. Tried to use heimdall too but no flashing tool seems to work properly with mac OS since support is outtaded.
I decided to use Bootcamp to install windows on my mac.
Bootcamp is a tool which you can easily install windows on your mac. I dont have no other solution. If you find one please let us know here

what is PIT?

PIT (Partition Information Table): you only need it if you screw up your partition table or if the firmware specifically requires it because of a change in the partition table layout.

Can someone help me with the terms used on the forum. I still have no post found.
Odin is a flash program where different files to be loaded. I have now flashed several times but I always do something what is told me. I would like to understand what I do. Can anyone explain?
What is the PIT file and what should I use?
Which version should I use of ODIN?
What do these files:
PDA
PHONE
CSC
Normally you have a device whit one kind of firmware. Why so many?
Thank you for your help

What is the PIT file and what should I use? NEVER UNLESS INSTRUCTED TO DO SO . PIT is partition information table .
Which version should I use of ODIN?
Latest but i still use an old one .
What do these files:
PDA Phones firmware Kernel and OS and apps.
PHONE modem
CSC country specific settings networks languages etc .
A full firmware including modem and CSC is usually flashed via PDA .
Normally you have a device whit one kind of firmware. Why so many?
Flash modem only flash CSC only are the extra uses and some full firmwares are actually in the three parts so you would load all three .

.pit file
.PIT file is used for full flashing method, this is only advisable and useful for reverting back to original firmware when previously installed unofficial ROM or to fix softbricked devices like unable to boot normally.

Thanks, but no pit or xml for pit inside the zip...
And how to use it with Odin 3.10? With Re-partition checked? Can you do a how-to?
Thanks
Load newest drivers for device from:
http://www.samsung.com/support/downloads
To completely flash the device, in ODIN v3.10, Simple load all four parts into there designated slots:
"BL" = BL
"AP" = AP
"CP" = MODEM
"CSC" = CSC
Then check to re-partition, nand erase all.
Charge device to 100% battery!!!
Place device into download mode, hold volume down, home button, press and release power.
Press volume up to confirm.
Connect to computer.
Check the phone bootloader update, and efs clear checkboxes once device is recognized.
Hit the START button!!
WAIT FOR REBOOT!
Wow it works! Tnx! At the first boot the default language is for Greece but the rom works perfectly in Italy and, I presume, in many others european countries. Only an hint for the noobs: in Odin on the CP file selection you must load the MODEM_I9300... file. Good luck!
I edited the instructions! Thanks @orsonbear!

Did you check the re-partition box?
And the pit file where is it?
It is located inside the .tar.md5 file. It will re-partition if you check the box. You can extract it if you like, but if you dont know how....honestly you shouldn't be messing with it, IMHO
Link is dead.. Can you help.. I need to repartition. Thanks

How to update: Bootloader, PDA, CSC, Baseband

Hi,
i am trying to fix software on my note3 but i have problems finding the right files.
There is Bootloader, PDA, CSC and Baseband but i don't know how to upgrade it to the correct versions.
For example i found Version OK9 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/direct-download-bootloaders-modems-t3258803
But there is no file to update PDA, CSC and Baseband?
I installed the KERNEL file and it changed the Kernel. Did not try RECOVERY yet because i think it could overwrite the Custom Recovery TWRP that is installed now.
In older post i also found some "CP" files for OJ6 and OK6 and they installed new version for PDA but i can not find them for OK9?
Can anybody please explain the different files and how to find the right versions?
I downloaded two files to update bootloader and PDA to OK6 but i can only update the Bootloader but PDA Version does not change.
CP_N9005_OK6.tar.md5
BL_N9005_OK6.tar.md5
The first file is supposed to update the PDA or not?
CP is modem/baseband and it does not update PDA. AP is PDA. You can find complete firmwares from http://www.sammobile.com/. These packages contains all parts together and you can find installation instructions for example from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdDgaqsYrRs.

Ah i see, thx for your help!
Hm so maybe it could be a good idea to install a untouched Stock Rom first and then go to modified image?
I have now installed N9005XXUGBOK6_N9005DBTGBOI1_DBT Stock Image with Odin.
When i want to go back to this image: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/rom-lp-tw-rom-t3027148 is it enought to just install it or do i need to wipe anything before?
I don't want all the samsung adware...
Oh it even killed the philz touch recovery...

How do I update to latest firmware through Odin? (Not the standard question)

Hi
As my country haven't gotten the latest update, I decided to download it through SamFirm (official firmware from Samsungs servers, just not capped in download speed like Sammobile).
But the thing is, that after decrypting, it's giving me 5 files and not just one .tar
The first 3 are named AP_xxx, BL_xxx and CP_xxx so it's pretty easy to guess where I should but them. But the last two files are named CSC_AUT and HOME_CSC_AUTO, so which should I use in the CSC slot?
Also, the UMS slot is greyed out, after putting one in the CSC slot and is stating that the firmware is only filling 65mb, even though it fills 1.8gb.
Anyone know what to do?
Thanks in advance
Hi,
Direct quote
"For some reason Samsung are now providing 5 files.
You now have some options:
1. If you want to keep your existing set up and just update, or reinstall existing firmware, you are better using SmartSwitch as described here:
http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29918
2. If you want to keep your existing set up, but want to install firmware with Odin, then use
BL - Bootloader
AP
CP
CSC_HOME
3. If you want to install another country firmware, or wipe your phone, then use
BL
AP
CP
CSC
CAUTION: This CSC contains a PIT file that will wipe your existing data and return your phone to 'out of the box' or will install another country/network firmware."
Cheers

SM-G935F Firmware for United States

Hello, I purchase a SM-G935F from a pawnshop today that was flashed with a custom ROM however it does not boot. The phone goes into download mode just fine and want to flash stock firmware but cannot find the USA version. The box came the phone and appears to be a USA version, the UPC code on the box is 8806088275123 and I check the IMEI on a website service and it came back with this model number SM-G935FZKLTTT and says it was sold in the USA. Any help from members would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you my friend, trying now.
I forgot to tell you that factory reset is required when switching from custom rom to stock rom so make sure you flash the non home CSC file and not the home_csc file.

Yes, it is in the download. When you download Samsung firmware from Sammobile or Updato website they come in a zipped file. You'll need to extract the zipped folder which will give you multiple files labelled AP, BL, CP, CSC and lastly HOME_CSC.
This is an example of what the files look like when the files are extracted from the downloaded firmware zip file:
http://prntscr.com/k07am0
The non_home csc file is used to tell the phone to wipe the user data on the phone when flashed, the home CSC is used if you don't want to wipe the user data on the phone when flashing firmware.

Right now the phone will not boot, it shows the title of the phone but then just loops back to a black screen.

If you are flashing Oreo firmware which is 8.0 you need to use Odin 3.13 or newer as the older Odin software does not support flashing Oreo firmware.
The only buttons you need to click are BL, AP, CP, CSC then start and nothing else.
The default check boxes under options tab will be auto reboot and f reset time. Others should be left untouched and not checked.
You'll need to reboot download mode again which can be done by holding the download mode keys until you get that blue screen again or that it says that something ran into a problem with the blue screen which allows flashing as well.

Hello again, well I thought it worked because I got a PASS in Odin however, when the phone boots, I get a Black screen saying Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge then it goes to a blue screen with the android logo and it says erasing at the bottom for a few seconds then the screen goes black. The phone still goes into download mode however, it will not go into recover mode. Before flashing this I could get into recovery mode but would see a custom page with loading and rebooting options. Am I missing the stock boot loader? So sorry to keep bothering you about this.
