Current S6E+ status - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is the current official S6E+ stock rom status of never rooted, never custom rommed phone?
It has Nougat with the last security patch from...? or did something change?

Can You confirm that S6E+ has NOT received Android 8 Oreo?
Can You confirm that S6E+ latest security patch was from January 2019? If not from when?

and for example for S7E that has Oreo + Samsung exp. is it possible to goo all the way back to original 6.0.1 cause I've heard that it may not be possible due to the fact that Android 6 has bootloader version 1 in Odin and since Nougat it has different version and if that happens you supposudly cant roll back bootloaders on samsung stocks

New stock firmware available (24.221.8)

Hi all.
I just noticed there's new firmware. Has anyone updated yet? In using an XT1572.
I'm rooted etc... So I can't quite simply update.
Should I be flashing the last stock firmware i have and then update? The last fastboot I have is the February patch, but my phone is on the May patch. Whatever firmware i flashed gives me another language in the update notification screen...lol.
Any guidance would be appreciated. Otherwise, I'll just do my thing blindly.

After your post, I rechecked the update service on my phone (xt1572 also). I got also new update here, but right now I cant do update (rooted + xposed). WIll try later, but I suppose that there is just new security patch. Strange that I got another version..
EDIT:
fount out Motowebpage
it look like the only improvements are - September security patch there.
Is the update for India dual sim xt1572?
I've installed the update today. The download size was about 40 MB, so seems to be a small patch indeed. I can confirm that it contains the september security patch, haven't noticed anything else yet.
I do think it's a shame that Moto is lacking so much in the update department lately. This is a security patch of two months ago... Also I would have expected them to have news on Nougat by now, at least for their Moto Z family...
6.0.1 ? at the time of 7.0?

it's not 6.0.1 update it's only security patch, we already had 6.0.1 in eu for a while
Has someone already tried the update with Flashfire? Im Rooted, on Frankenclark and Xposed. Does anyone know if we can get a flashable zip to flash in TWRP? To much work to go back to Stock, update and install everything again. Is the patch it worth?
Sent from my XT1572 using XDA-Developers mobile app
can someone upload full firmware for retasia? thx
We have to wait for Moto to release/leak the firmware image, the OTA zip won't do any good... This usually takes 2-4 weeks, sometimes more, to get the factory image. Be patient.
BTW, it is nothing special, all it does is patch to the Sept 1, 2016, security update, including Dirty Cow (which if you have been following the security threads is pretty much worthless on Lollipop and newer devices anyway)

Want to downgrade to an earlier 7.0

Since 7.0 came to the s7, I have been keeping up with the monthly updates the carriers push out but for the past couple of months I've been getting some terrible kernel wake locks and I've tried everything possible to prevent them but I can't find a solution. So my thought was downgrading to an earlier 7.0 where I didn't have that problem.
Now my question is: Has the bootloader been updated prior to the first 7.0 monthly update (march)? Because I've heard once the bootloader has been updated you can't go downgrade to an earlier bootloader and I've experienced a soft brick on my s7 edge while tried to downgrade to an earlier version of marshmallow and someone told me it was because of an update to the bootloader. The firmware i'm on now is G935W8VLU2BQH1 and I want to go down to G935W8VLU2BQB6 which is the first nougat update (march)

Well, I downgraded from 7.0 to 6.0 but with twrp, so maybe it's not possible via odin, but I flashed many times nougat via odin, from april to february security patch, it always worked..

So then it's possible. As long as Samsung didn't update the bootloader between March and August then I should be good. Did you include BL in Odin when you downgraded to an earlier security patch?

Then they haven't updated it so far. When I wanted to go from 6.0.1 November security patch back to February security patch it failed and the phone went into a softbrick

[Q] What is latest offical Android version for ATT S7 ?

I just purchased a new S7 (SM-G930A) and it currently has Android 7.0 and Android security patch April1, 2017. The phone is telling me that there is an update. Is Oreo available for the ATT S7 or is this just a security update ?
Thanks

There is no official OREO update for the SM-G930A model just yet... the official release date is TBD. You can download the leaked unofficial version though in a different section of this forum. The latest security patch is most likely what your available update is slated for.

The last official update I'm aware of is BRA1. Jan 1, 2018. You should have a few between what you're at and the latest.
I got a OTA to BRC1 last night.

I am having the same issue, not sure how to update, each time I check ... it says its up to date.
You have to wait for it to become available. Actually my roommate and I both have 950U's. His loaded automatically months ago. I had to look around and then it was in my updates. Have Samsung experience level 9.0, which supposedly is as good as Oreo 8.1. That's good, because I can't find a way to get the real 8.1. If you run the latest patch/system update from April 1st, you have installed a level 3 bootloader and are the proud owner of one of the few phones that cannot be rooted! Congratulations! Maybe someday. My build number has changed to R16NW.G950USQS3CRE2

Galaxy S8+ G955F stuck on Oreo July's patch

Hi, thanks for reading. My S8+ G955F stopped finding updates after 2018 July's security patch, when I try to search for updates manually it says that the device is up to date already (its 2019 April's 20th today).
I never flashed a custom ROM, it's 100% stock and Knox is intact.
I wonder if there is a way to just update with Samsung official tooling or just flash with TWRP the OneUI Pie official ROM without having to go through every update to date manually (there must be dozens of them).
I attached my current build and firmware below.
Thanks for reading and have a great day.

You could try first Samsung's Smart Switch to see if that will update your phone.
If not the other way would be to download your firmware and flash with Odin.

having the same issue . do you need to go update by update if you decide to install by odin? or can you just pick the last version and install it?
