Um... The first week of use it dropped everything out of RAM. 2 weeks in... Not nearly as bad. All after a month of not adding new apps, since Pie 'learns and adapts'.
I can say it has steadily gotten better with use!

4 Gigs of RAM ought to do it. The phone perfectly manages multiple open apps and switching between them is fluid fast and highly responsive. Great.

Zero issues, 6GB is more than enough
I've noticed overnight that apps are killed more often even with Adaptive battery off and when it's pinned to the multitasking window. But it's fine once you use your phone throughout the day.

Excellent software and 12gb of RAM make for a smooth experience.
Almost nothing ever closes in the background
Multitasking/ram
It's very smooth just what you would expect from 12g of ram
