Hello,
Few days ago I spoke to amazon rep about few software bugs and asked about fire os 6. They are workintg on fixing bugs and due to multiple positive feedback(users asking for fire os 6) an upgrade to fire os 6 is coming. Personally , im surprised and excited. Its great device by amazon. As always lets wait and see?

Take that with a huge grain of salt. 4th gen HDX was discontinued in 2015. Ignorant Amazon reps said the same thing about FireOS v5 coming to 3rd gen HDX. Never happened. I could see FireOS v6 coming to 7th gen HD 8/10 devices. Nothing older.

Meanwhile the current Android version is 9.00, so it would only be behind 3 versions not 4.

Nope and nope (with the latter being a non-starter given device age).

Amazon announced that it is selling more than 1 million Kindle devices for the third consecutive week. Company gathers a huge success in Kindle series products. Just 11 week old, Kindle Fire tablet is now Amazon’s bestselling item ever.
The Kindle Fire tablet is facing some critical software as well as hardware issues. To encounter this Amazon is going to release over-the-air update soon.........
http://mirolta.com/2011/12/17/amazo...indle-devices-for-the-third-consecutive-week/
And that update will allow you to choose what shows up on the carousel along with the performance tweaks. Awesome.
Is it possible a silent update with installed CM7?
Hey everybody,
As most of you know, the Kindle Fire is nearing it's second year and it's showing it's age, mainly because of the lack of RAM.
The 3rd Gen Kindle Fire HDX is released too, which includes 2GB and a Quad core CPU, so it might be a fair upgrade from our 1st kfires.
Unless the 3.4 kernel is fixed and released very soon, the future of the kindle fire in areas of new custom roms/CM will be pretty dubious.
The amount of custom roms for 4.3 is pretty low, so it might be a sign of it's aging, and the 3.0 kernel is pretty old today now.
Thanks everybody for such a great kindle fire sub forum.
Thanks Hashcode for the kernels and pls finish the 3.4 one
I fear this day will come, hopefully after 2 years we still have some great developers making Roms for our device. But is time for a change already

Yeah, I might get the Kfire HDX if they root it and get custom roms on it.
Updates to the HDX line just announced. What do you think? I might just stay with my 8.9 HDX. Maybe...

First tablet with 805, yes?
Agreed I personally don't see a reason to upgrade to the new ones from my HDX 8,9" Personally nothing there to make me upgrade. Same with upgrading to the Note 4 from my note 3 I don't see anything there to make me upgrade either. So I will be staying with my older HDX 8.9" I will likely upgrade once 64bit comes around for both the hardware and OS which might be the next upgrade.
bought 2...
I just upgraded my 2 (charging port broken) kindle fire first gens (otter) to 2 hdx 8.9 2014s last week.
Amazon gave them to me for 70% off because of the known charging port design flaw.
I see no success in rooting or even getting google play store working so far on this fire OS 4.5 it immediately upgraded to upon initial power on. Is there another forum where others' efforts and hopeful success stories are being shared?
THE BLU R1 HD says it will be running Nougat (Android 7.0 ultimately) according to the following website
http://thegadgetsfreak.com/blu-r1-hd-is-a-budget-smartphone-upgradable-to-android-nougat/
My suggestion to BLU and Amazon is if they really want to make a BIG splash in the budget device market. Release Nougat via OTA updates as soon as google will let them, presumably right after the LG V20 gets released. Google has already stated they are delaying Nexus devices from getting Nougat right away due to wanting to refine software.
I think you would see a major uptick in BLU R1 HD sales if they got Nougat right away.
And according to the above article, it wouldn't surprise me if BLU is sitting on andoid 7.0 right now for the OEM version at least, but I would think Amazon would be making changes to the Amazon variant right now also, as OEMs have had access to Android 7.0 for awhile now.
Blu has a history of promising updates but never delivering. I hope it does get Nougat but I am not banking on it. Perhaps Blu will support this more because Amazon wants to continue to sell the phone and it might be their most popular device ever.

No way will they do it! They didn't even do the voLTE update that they PROMISED "shortly" after release! See my thread about it here with a picture of their false promise: http://forum.xda-developers.com/r1-hd/how-to/amazon-reviews-influence-blu-to-release-t3470582 Promises from Blu mean NOTHING!

Ah but promises from Amazon do mean something, and if they do not update the phone we could have a good class action lawsuit against both BLU and Amazon, which I would think amazon would try and avoid. Amazon also promised VoLTE and Nougat as they "partnered" with Blu.
And amazon has stopped selling the phone because people were able to re-flash it. Be assured that when Blu releases the new Amazon model, SPFT will be disabled from the start.
A statement about updating from Blu has been proven to mean absolutely nothing.
Is the Fire HD 10 still rootable up to the latest version? (And, what is the latest version?) Thank you,

Thank you. I was just wondering, because I were thinking about buying a Fire HD 10 for root, if someone knows about this, please tell here, because I'm not buying another unrootable tablet.

As of the moment, it appears the newer versions discussed, were OTA installs. So far, I have had 3. First one broke, second one was defective and I have my current one. All of them are and were rootable out of the box. I would be absolutely surprised if any of the ones currently on shelves, have a FireOS above 5.6.0.1. My first one came on 5.5.0.0. The other two, 5.6.0.0. My current one is on 5.6.0.1, but came with 5.6.0.0.

Next Monday (7/16) is Amazon Prime Day. I am considering picking up an HD10, if it is on sale @ $99.00 and still rootable.
These tablets are shipped from China, so even the latest stock was probably manufactured 2-3 months ago. It is likely that new stock will come with 5.6.0.1 or possibly 5.6.1.0 installed, both of which are rootable. I have only seen a couple of reports of OTA updates later than 5.6.1.0 to date, so I would be amazed if any tablet bought on prime day would have later software than 5.6.1.0 installed.
To add, my HD10 (purchased in mid March) came with 5.6.0.0 installed. The screen had a defect so I returned it a couple of weeks later. The new replacement was shipped in April: this came with 5.6.0.1 preinstalled.
