How to install minor updates?

Hi @ all,
I have an Galaxy Express I8730 with lineage-14.1-20170208-UNOFFICIAL-expressltexx installed. GAPPs version is ARM/stock and TWRP 3.0.2-0-expressltexx.
The phone is not rooted. What is the right path for an minor update to a new 14.1 lineage version, whenever possible leaving all apps and settings untouched?
Some users did an dirty update. That means just flashing on top without wiping cache/dalvik - right?
(Should i do a twrp reflash prior update the OS?)
Thanks for your help

Can't install TWRP higher than 3.0.2.0 & Update to Nougat

Hello, i was using Skydragon 5.1.1 and it started to become slow, got optimizing apps everytime i restarted the phone, and wanted to flash to LineageOS
Figured I`d update TWRP to latest version, so I got that from their site, version 3.1.1-0 and when I wanted to boot to recovery it would become stuck at the bootscreen. Same thing with any other version over 3.0.2-0.
Used FirstAid to revert to older version of TWRP, and managed to install 3.0.2-0 again and boot to recovery normally.
With this version it seems i cannot install LineageOS because it gives an error.
How do I go about installing Nougat ? Thanks !
First u should install the 3.6.0 Firmware then try install Nougat

Update LineageOS

Hello.
I have an SM-G935F Exynos, and have recently flashed a lineage build by @Ivan_Meler: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/lineageos-15-android-8-0-0-s7-edge-t3710101, Open Gapps Nano, and Magisk v16.0.
I am currently on build 23, and would like to update to build 24.
I have the latest version of TWRP as well.
I was wondering if there was any way to update without losing data, root, or the modules I've installed/fingerprint I've spoofed?
Preferably an efficient one, as I will probably be doing this quite a lot!
Thanks in advance.

I did it.
In TWRP
1. Wipe Dalvik/System/Internal/cache x 3--------Not data
2. Install ROM zip(build 24)
3. Install latest Pico gapps
4. I flashed Xposed
5. Reboot
6. After a few minutes flash Magisk V16
PS. Make sure build 24 is moved to external SD after download as you are wiping internal.
Sent from my Samsung SM-G935F using XDA Labs
Does anyone know if there's a way to do it without wiping anything? (Besides cache and Dalvik cache)
I want to still pass Safetynet as well by the way.

Dirty flashing to Open Beta 18 from OOS 5.1.2

I currently run OOS 5.1.2 (xXx No limits), with magisk 17.1 and blu_spark 3.1.2 (non treble) twrp. I want to update to Open Beta 18, so today i tried by updating the twrp to twrp-3.2.3-x_blu_spark_v9.85_treble-op5_op5t (successfully). I then removed magisk by the uninstaller and tried to boot into system (still haven't flashed the beta), and it wouldn't load. I then returned to the updated recovery to flash the full zip of the beta but had a zip verification error. I disabled zip verification then got error 7 in the twrp. For now i have reverted to a NAND recovery i had made before updating the twrp, but i would still like to update to Open Beta 18. What did i miss, and how can i make it work? please keep in mind that i would prefer a dirty flash over a clean flash if possible.
Thanks

It's been discussed 100 times on the xXx thread that it's not recommended to switch between stable and beta the dirty way cause you're facing issues. Like you.
It's also not recommended by oneplus in the official threads cause of issues.
A clean installation(look at the beta thread) saves you hours on troubleshooting/headaches in the future.
And latest stable build has advanced reboot menu instead of beta

Boot loop after installing Magisk or SuperSU

Device: Moto G4 XT1625 retus (non amazon firmware)
Android version: Android 7.0 April 2018 security update
I have problems on installing magisk on my Moto G4. I have unlocked the bootloader and flashed twrp. When I installed ElementalX Kernel since it's a requirement for magisk to work, my phone just boots fine. But when I will install the latest or old versions of magisk, My phone gets stuck in a boot loop. I tried supersu ans other kernels but no luck of booting my phone with magisk installed. Is there anything that I did wrong? My phone only boots without magisk/supersu installed.
UPDATE: I used Vegito Kernel and now my phone boots with magisk installed.
Stock ROM doesn't like Magisk/SuperSU. You need to reflash the original boot image for it to boot again and I think it'll remove root access. From my experience, a custom ROM improves the hackability of the phone a fair bit (I'm using official Havoc OS, which looks like Android 9 but is based on Android 8.1. It's quite stable actually)
