Info requested. I bought my phone from boost Mobile and just had it Sim unlocked the costumer service guys have me a number and told me in 48 hours it would be unlocked. I unlocked the SIM for multiple reasons... So my questions are....
1. Does anymore need to be done on my end to finalize the unlock?
2. If I were to want to do anything to my phone do I now follow instructions under the 993 forums or since it was a boost phone and still holds some boost apps and still service under boost would i follow that route?
Apologies if this is in the wrong place or just a dumb question. This phone unfortunately is my everyday device so I have to be careful about playing with my phone. Thank you to anyone that will respond to help.
Boost won't unlock it. I'm going to have to go a different route any suggestions. And I've even read a few places where is some boost mobile devices don't give you the SIM unlock keypad to be able to put it in once you have the number they tell people they held up their end of the contract agreement by supplying the number they do not have do you have the phones give you the prompt to unlock.

So I bought my HD2 2 weeks after they came out. Shortly after I tried buying an unlock code for my phone because t-mobiles service in my area is kind of come and go. Unfortunatly I have one of the 35777 Phones so after 4 attempts with 4 different sites failing at getting a code, I tried emailing tmobile to see if they would give me a code as they already told me they dont have service in my area. They told me to fax them a copy of my invoice proving I paid full price for the thing, so I did. About a week later they got back to me and said that due to the fact that I bought it from a site that was not one of their approved retailers I couldnt get an unlock code. So about a week and a half ago I went to a tmobile store and got the darn thing setup anyways. I get some service in this area, just not much. Now about 3 days ago, I get an email from t-mobile that looks like this:
T-Mobile Sim Unlock Request
Sim Unlock Reference: *******
IMEI: 35777*********
Unlock Code: ********
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. Below you will see the Instructions for unlocking your HTC device.
1. Insert the foreign SIM card
2. Power on the device and the display should read "Please input unlock code"
3. Enter the unlock code and the device should display "Phone is unlocked."
4. Allow the phone to scan the network (or manually click on the antenna icon to do this)
It is very important that the instructions and SIM unlock code are entered correctly as listed. If you receive an error message while performing the instructions do not make any further attempts to unlock the handset. Please be aware that if an excessive amount of incorrect attempts are made, the phone will be permanently locked. You will need to verify the IMEI by pressing *#06# and contact Customer Care for support.
Thank You,
Sim Unlock Department
T-Mobile USA, Inc.
I kind of find this a bit odd. They tell me I cant get the number, then about a month later they randomly mail it to me anyway.
sounds kind of odd... have you always had tmobile or did you just sign up to purchase the hd2?
Neither, I had at&t before, Wanted to buy it and unlock it to use with at&t but in the process realized at&t's service is a bit of a ripoff. Atleast it is with standard plans. Wanted to try and use my hd2 with a gophone card but it doesnt seem to want to work.
So I live in the northern part of Canada and my city only has Bell, but I would like to get the Samsung Focus from Rogers in Edmonton, AB when I go there in about a week. Is that possible? How? Will I need to unlock it, or can they unlock it for me? What about the SIM card I can get from Bell? Can someone explain all of this for me?
If so, I'd appreciate it very much.
You need to buy the phone outright from a Rogers store, be it kiosk or full meal deal outlet.
They will not unlock the phone, or even discuss it with you. Since you are buying a Rogers branded phone, you will need to Unlock the phone yourself in order to use it on Bell.
The guy I used for the unlock code is from eBay and he charged me $15.99 via PayPal. 30 mins later, I had my unlock code. When you purchase the unlock code, you need to ensure your IMEI is listed in your purchase instructions.
This means you need to own the phone, before you purchase the unlock code. The seller I chose has the icon GSMUnlock as his avatar and his name is unlockgsm4u.
Once you have the code, there are two ways to unlock the phone. One is through the Diagnosis app that is revealed when dialing ##634# [send]. The second is to boot the phone with a non-rogers sim inside. The second mode is probably the easiest. You may need to reboot your phone after entering the unlock code to get Service using your Bell SIM. I cannot confirm, others may be able. I had to reboot in order to use my SaskTel SIM card.
Once you have rebooted, and have cellular service, you need to get Data working.
Data is done by entering your networks' APN info.
There are a few posts on this site that have Bell APN info listed.
Apparently MMS is still an issue, and some are hoping the spring update resolves that issue.
The rogers phone does not have HSUPA enabled by default. This means you will not get Bell's full data speeds on your rogers phone, until you delve into the diagnosis app and enable HSUPA (which is the + in HSPA+). There is a post by me on this site to enable that.
This is a brief introduction to the hoops one must jump through to get an unlocked phone. Once you have your device, post back and I"m sure the crew here will help you out.
They're a good bunch, and I'm happy to call this place home, at least in terms of my phone info.
Alright.
Thank you very much for your help. I appreciate it very much. You've helped explain everything to me!

http://myworld.ebay.ca/ageo111/&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2754
yes call att and demand they give you the unlock code ive gotten unlock cokes for my last 4 phones directly from att free of charge all you need to do is ask and give them the ime number and request instructions for entering it.
unlocking via codes is the safe way to unlock your mobile..
Ok so I signed up on this forum just to post this solution:
If you feel like dealing with ATT: you can call them and request a network unlock (its FREE) but DON'T under any circumstance tell them you have an att account! If you tell them that, they will make you jump through hoops to unlock your phone. If you bought multiple phones, just call one person, unlock one phone, and call back to get a different person to unlock the other phone. Don't call one person and tell them you have two phones, because then they will ask you for both IEMI #'s from you, write them down in your notes, so when you call back you won't beable to receive the unlock code (they say only one unlock code is free per person). So if you have multiple phones, call them to unlock one phone, hang up, call back unlock the next phone.
If you don't like dealing with ATT:
I bought two of these phones(mb508) spent $17.99 each and unlocked them both from gsmliberty.com. It was a link some dude was advertising in the forums, I clicked it, it went straight to my phone (it had a picture of it) and I called the 1-800 number to see if I could actually talk to a human being, and I could, so I tried it and it actually worked for both of them. It was a network unlock for T-mobile.
and no I have no ties with gsmliberty, just letting everyone else know whose bought the same phones.
Hi guys,
I'm starting a new topic because the only information I could find was from 1 or 2 years ago, before Sprint started giving unlock codes after Feb. 2015.
I recently ported my number to T-Mobile and was unable to unlock my device before my service was severed. Now I am stuck in a rut and cannot get service on EITHER network.
After running around all day, trying to get Sprint stores to help, calling customer service, etc... I was finally able to chat with a Customer Service rep, pay my ETF balance (it had not been posted yet, I asked to pay early). After that, the rep gave me the 6 digit unlock code. I tried punching in *#0011# but I cannot access a menu, it just flashes
MENU NOT EXIST
PRESS BACK KEY
CURRENT COMMAND IS 1111
After that it just displays "No service".
The phone did not acknowledge the T-Mobile SIM at all. I did a network restore code (I forget the dial code) and now it says Invalid SIM Card- so, it knows the card is there.
I cannot get it to a point where it asks for the MSL number.
Can anyone please help? I'm tearing my hair out here.
Thanks,
-Tory
If anyone is going through this same problem, please see this thread and my experience doing this manually, starting with post 1456.
Don't despair! It's a huge pain to go through this if you're only a recreational Android user (like me), but it can be done if you do your homework and follow the steps slowly.
Thanks be to the board, and the people on it.
Hello everybody, sorry if this has been asked I tried searching everywhere and have come up with nothing that has been helpful to me. I am new here so if I'm posting in the wrong place I'll be happy to remove this.
I will try to provide you with every detail but my main problem is this: I have obtained an unlock code I received directly from Sprint for a Galaxy S5 I received from a friend. The friend made sure the device and his account met their qualifications, and he received a six digit "MSL Code" that he was told is the unlock code.
I have been told by Sprint, AT&T, countless YouTube videos and forums that the sequence for unlocking this phone is as simple as 1.) Entering a foreign sim into your device. 2.) When you turn the device on you will be prompted to enter the sim unlock code. 3.) Enter the unlock code and your device will be unlocked.
Of course it's turned out to be way less simple than that. My most obvious problem is with step #2. I am never prompted to enter the sim unlock code and instead only receive the message "Invalid Sim card."
Okay here is a back story if you want more details: I am on a family plan with AT&T right now that I believe is a good deal and would not like to switch carriers, although AT&T hires some of the biggest idiots I've ever encountered to work in their retail stores and tech support. I have been tempted to switch to Sprint because throughout all of this they have been the only ones to give me straightforward information and any help at all so far.
The Galaxy S5 in my possession meets all of Sprint's requirements to be unlocked and the previous owner received the unlock code directly from Sprint. It should be good to go.
I went to AT&T retail store with the locked device and unlock code for assistance and to make sure the process would go smooth and easy. The first time I was told it's impossible to sim unlock a phone and all I can do is sell the phone on eBay. I called tech support after this and they told me my problem was that I was using the AT&T sim card from my old HTC One, that SIM Card would be incompatible with the Samsung, so therefore I am receiving an "Invalid Sim card" error. The second time I went in I requested a sim card for a Samsung Galaxy S5 because AT&T tech support told me the SIM card in my HTC will not work. The dude grabbed an empty SIM card and gave it to me without asking me for my information or anything about my account and when I asked him about this he told me that it's not necessary, "SIM cards don't have any memory or carry any information on them for the phone to read other than what service the phone is supposed to use". I honestly don't know much about cell phone technology but I knew this was bull**** but he was no further help after I told him I think he might be wrong about that. I called AT&T tech support and they told me that guy was an idiot and to go back to them and request another SIM card.
I don't want to go back into that stupid store until I'm absolutely sure what the **** I need to do to get this stupid phone to work with my AT&T account. Please educate me on how this process works and what the correct steps I need to take are. Thanks a million times in advance for whatever help you can give me, and again let me know if this is being asked in the wrong place I'm still new here.
