Is it just me or the McLaren edition is not available to be purchased anymore on OnePlus websites in all regions? Nobody at OnePlus is responding to my mails either.
On the OnePlus websites in US, UK, CA, IN, etc there are only 4 variants available for purchase, the Mirror Black and Midnight Black colors of the 6GB and the 8GB version. It no longer shows McLaren edition at 10GB. Did OnePlus just pull a sneaky on us???
It's being replaced by the Pastor Maldonado edition, it's all hardened steel and comes with an Otterbox case for extra protection

They want to go with a smaller more budget friendly "Geo metro edition", no NFC, fast charge and a 700 mAh battery.
This is the wring thread and no it's still on the OnePlus site https://www.oneplus.com/mclaren
It's a special edition. That's why the stock is reduced, otherwise it will not be so "special".
It's limited edition. They don't even sell spares for it apparently to keep it's exclusivity.

Not good for warranty purposes. That is too limited they could have at least waited until the rumored OnePlus 7.

Maybe I was a bit unclear and my earlier post didn't specify this. Damage to the phone itself will be prepared, i e. Body damage etc. We will get a McLaren body again (confirmed it at the store I bought and with customer care) however warp chargers, the case that comes in the box are the spares for that won't be replaced/sold.
One more thing they told me was dash will be replaced by warp in the future models apparently

Sorry too early as for dash warp whatever I always do standard charging so it takes a bit longer but it makes the battery last longer.

I was thinking of purchasing additional batteries, seeing that the retail price of the batteries are very high I was wondering if OEM replacement on eBay (< $5) would do the job. What do you guys think?

I dont think so. In the ebay auction that everyone one is raving about it clearly states that they are NOT original batteries. This guy says they are 100% OEM originals. Which is why i wanted it. I didn't want to have a tiawanese copy in my phone.

but that is what i'm saying
that battery shown in the picture is EXACTLY the same batteries included in that package that says "not original" batteries
i'm using them, they last as long as the "original" battery.
as far as i'm concerned they are all original, the packaging of the battery and markings confirms it's authentic G7 from Samsung, although these was obviously manufacture before for the older devices.
If the ebay seller says they are not original OEM batterys they are copies. Im not saying that copies cannot be a good thing but i would much rather buy a orignal battery for a few bucks more than to take a risk with a copy. Counterfitting is HUGE out of HK and who knows what kind of QC they have on thier products. The extra $10 is worth the peice of mind to me.

Clearly you have never seen the Sandisk SD cards which say "sandisk" and come in the same packaging. The battery markings mean NOTHING, and are easy to forge.. Generally though if an item is MUCH cheaper than the official RRP, it's either stolen, or fake. When I worked in sales at an Apple reseller, we used to get emails all the time from companies in HK which wanted to offer us hundreds of batteries and such for VERY cheap.
The fact he is selling so many, different brand batteries in bulk (all "genuine"), and so many third party accessories for me is a red flag. But the even bigger red flag, is that he is selling genuine Apple ones, and Apple don't even provide iPod batteries to 3rd party dealers.. You certainly can't ask Apple for some genuine Apple batteries (if you don't believe me, run down to your local Applecentre, and ask for a new battery for an iPod). At least here in Australia, they don't hand them out. Sorry, but everything I've seen in my experience suggests these are fakes.. I could be wrong though (but the fact he is giving them to you in bulk, means they cost him barely anything).
Whatever happens, I'm just going to buy that nice extra battery pack casing. Just to be sure. L
I bought a 100% original battery from a samsung dealer here in mumbai. He told me he had to source it from a service center as original accessories like these have not been launched "officially" by samsung.
Cost me 1200 indian rupees = $26
6 month warranty by Samsung. And the thing works just like a charm !!
it's a FAKE battery, the Genuine ones have a different markings specially where it says G7
i'm using those FAKE batteries, although they might be very good replicas of the old G7 batteries, they are not real
but performance wise, they work just as good as the OEM (originals) from Samsung
you will be better off buying this instead
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733705
same price for 2 + way more stuff
At least this guy is honest, and say clearly NOT REAL
there we go i made topic just for you guys
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7953322
If you get SGS batteries on ebay, you are best off getting 3rd party batteries, rather than branded fakes.
Because branded fakes simply are designed to fool the buyer long enough into thinking they are real. This means good enough capacity, and good enough external build quality. They aren't designed for quality
Has anyone come across a UK or European supply for spare batteries?
I do a bit of geocaching so a spare battery always comes in handy.
I have not found any suppliers in the UK selling the battery yet. Even though Defy has a good battery life I still like to carry a spare battery with me as well.
I'm also after a spare battery, always useful to have.
I've raised a support request with Motorola UK asking them where / when they will be available. They should be available in their own online store at least.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the popularity of the DEFY might be taking them by surprise.
I did a little bit of research lastnight and the only official accessories is available for Motorola Defy is the battery door/cover going for $9.99.

It appears the battery door is sold by amazon (at checkout time) but when I visited amazon.com (US) I could not find it. Nonetheless, this is rather a good news that it is possible to replace the battery door in case it wears off or damaged.

I am thinking best to wait for a Moto official battery.
I would prefer an official Motorola one, but if nothing is forthcoming in the next couple of weeks I'll buy a 3rd party battery.
Northing back from my Motorola support request as of yet.
I have just ordered this one.
Lets see how it works.
Defy battery now available on the motorola site $40 just seen it.
Well, i just recieved to emails: One with the notification "payment recieved" and the other a little bit later from paypal, saying that my payment has been paid back - my order is canceled.
I dont think those shops got any Defy Batteries stock.
Well, got a couple of garbled emails back from Motorola - god I hope I don't need any real support with this phone
One email in broken English suggested to contact expansys, who don't yet list the BF5X (in fact, they misleadingly list the MILESTONE battery as an accessory for the DEFY, when in fact it is physically the wrong shape).
The next email that arrived a day later told me they would be in touch when they knew where and when they would be selling any batteries!
It's quite funny but I also pointed out that their sites for online registration don't list the DEFY in the models dropdown. So they directed me to another Moto UK site that doesn't list the DEFY!
I've found this place in the US that have them in stock, take PayPal and ship internationally:
http://www.thinkmotorolabravo.com/motorola-bravo-battery-oem-13558.html
So have ordered one as I can't be arsed waiting for Motorola UK to work out where they are and what they're doing.
Any news on actually avaible third party spare batterys?
13 USD for 2 batteries =) + Charger and Micro USB Cable

Not so much looking for a spare battery as much as an higher capacity battery. Any word on something like that?
Just been browsing ebay UK & found the following - 3.7v 1800mah. Can't post a link due to being a newbie but it's on ebay.co .uk & the item number is 200569859076.
Is very cheap in price so I'm wondering what it would be like in reality - too cheap to be any good?
Hello guys, I have pretty much decided to buy a Nexus One since it's the cheapest Android device with decent hardware. However I have a few questions:
1) When it says 'Unlocked', does that mean it'll work anywhere in the world? I don't live in the USA, also I don't care about Edge/3G as I'll be using Wifi most of the time.
2) Can a device come with a locked firmware (i.e Can't be rooted?), or all devices are rootable?
3) What's the difference between those two below. I prefer to buy directly from Amazon and not resellers. First link says it'll be in stock after 1-2 months, second one is available.
- www.amazon.com/HTC-Nexus-One-Smartphone-Touchscreen/dp/B0050OV01O
Hi bazzag,
i've bougth my nexus one two weeks ago from amazon.com and, as you, i don't live in the usa.
1)Unlocked means that you can use it with any sim and you are not locked to tmobile, vodafone or similar. I'm using mine in Italy and it works perfectly.
2)No, nexus one are all equal and rootable. (I recommend you to not unlock the bootloader and use the procedure for rooting without unlocking the bootloader posted on the wiki, so you don't lose your warranty ).
3)When i bought mine i had the same doubt I'm not sure but one (HTC Nexus One Unlocked GSM Smartphone with Android OS, 5MP Camera and Touchscreen - No Warranty - Brown
) seems to not have warranty, while the other should have it (Google Nexus One Unlocked Phone with Android--U.S. Warranty).
Hope i helped!
The difference is the second one has no warranty and is used. First one I am not sure whether it is used or new, but you will only be finding new units from third-party sellers (some sellers fulfilled through amazon). I do not believe amazon ever sold these new directly, as they were only available from google and some t-mobile stores.
Most of them are unlocked, but some of the carrier specific models are branded and locked to their networks. It's still possible to root and unlock these, but it might also be worth checking with the seller in an email if this is unlocked&unbranded or a carrier-specific model. There are also 2 versions of the phone, one with 3G on the 850/1900/2100 bands and one with 900/1700/2100. Regardless if you're going to use the data connection or not, if you want to take advantage of the better voice quality 3G brings you can check which bands your carriers of choice use.
The U.S. warranty requires you to send your phone to the states, and you should be aware of some hardware faults-the power button can fail due to a poorly designed connection, and 2 of the phones I and a friend have owned developed symptoms where the phone would go into a rebooting cycle when it got to a certain temperature. I would send an email to the seller you're buying the phone from and asking if the phone is used/refurbished/new and what their return policy is if you get a lemon.
That being said, I'm still using a replacement I got from HTC, and I don't have any idea what phone can replace it in the future. It's definitely one of the best android phones for the price.
Thanks for the replies so far.
Z4buz4, can you tell me which one of the links I posted did you buy? And from which 3rd party reseller? Would really appreciate it.
OJ, you can buy them directly from Amazon (On the right menu, choose Amazon when adding to cart). I doubt that Amazon sells used stuff, so I'm betting it's a new sealed device.
It's good to get more feedback though, shipping it back to the US would cost a fortune, so I need to make sure I'm getting a good one.
I've bougth the first one (the one with us warranty) directly from amazon and of course it was new. Mine is a SLCD one, if you wants to know it
ok all the ones on Amazon are new but they do not have a US warranty on them. Also they are all SLCD they and are for Canada. I bought 4 of them and returned all bc they are all Canada warranty. It is Video Tron in Canada that is what htc America said after i gave them my IEMI #..
Alright, looks like I'll be buying the one without the warranty, since I don't need it anyway. In case it was defective, shipping back to the US would cost me around $70! So yeah I'll be gambling here but I still want to get the phone.
I've got 2 more questions:
- I'll probably get one with SLCD. I know that AMOLED has more vibrant colors, however in reality how much difference are we talking about?
- Which decent and reasonably priced case and screen cover you guys recommend?
Thanks again.

1) My first Nexus was AMOLED which I thought was fine but after I recently purchased a new Nexus with SLCD. I notice the font are much smoother around the edge. I don't really care to much about the dark is darker. I care more about clarity in image and text when websurfing which is why I prefer SLCD.
2) As for case, I went with Seidio Innocase II. I had it the first time around and after I got another Nexus I bought it again. I am not using a screen protector because the case is difficult to slide with just a thin layer of plastic.

Second this. Have had this case on my N1 for over a year. Great protection, with hardly any extra bulk. (And I've never felt the need for a screen protector.)

IHMO amoled and slcd are both very good. If you want to see the differences between them this is probably the best article you can find (htc desire and nexus one use the same screen):
http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/13/spot-the-difference-htc-desires-slcd-versus-amoled/
When i bought myne i also bought a screen cover and a silicone case. I've never use it I think that the best case is the one inside the box: it's a nice neopreme case (you can spot it on youtube if you search nexus one unboxing) with an android on it.
The screen is made of glass and it is scratch resistent (look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfqwKa4bT74).

nope.. I thought it should be in the phone too.. but nope
guess have to deal with customer service.. fortunate i bought from Amazon itself. shouldn't be a problem
ps. the slcd is indeed better in text but the amoled is better in color i think. (especially the dark color)

I am very interested in replacing my aging HTC Dream as well and have been looking at the nexus one. I'm on the rogers network in Canada though and apparently not all of them work on the rogers 3G network..? I was just curious if anyone knew if either of the two on amazon will work for me, thanks.
Nevermind, I looked into it more and neither of them look to be the AT&T version.
I was doing the same thing now that I need to switch to ATT
I emailed amazon customer service to ask him check the version of their inventory (through the FCC id)
he said he will email me back in 2-3 business days.
new sells in my country for almost as much as people selling their used.
ive looked on ebay but looking at feedbacks, im certain the phones being sold as new are refurbished.
I bought my current v20 as new and got refurbished. after a year when the warranty was over the screen has MASSIVE bleeding and ghosting on it.
looking for a good source -unlocked INTL version.
I want the phone because I love the camera (unfortunately both my cameras no longer work because the glass cracked and over the time has had damage) and I need a phone with swappable batteries.
last question. once I gtet the phone I want to make sure my phone has an original screen. is there clear markings that I can verify the screen is OEM?
any help appreciated.

Import 1 from Korea, or a country that regularly import and sell Korean phones on the secondary market (i.e. Philippines/Vietnam/etc..), but even then they might just be refurbished. The phone stopped manufacturing over a year ago, its also nearly 3 years old, you'd be hard pressed to find a new legit BNIB V20

my worry is that the parts inside are genuine and swapped for aftermarket garbage. mine has an aftermarket screen. I didnt know that when I bought it. it has tons of ghosting and bleeding.

98.3 out of 45000 reviews on eBay is excellent, I got good deals from him.
I paid $225 for the near mint silver H910 in Oct of 2017
And $200 for the 3 others in excellent condition a couple months later
I don't think you'll find a New / Mint v20 for any cheaper from a reputable dealer.

Don't know if these are OEM.
The 10+ came with 2 or 3 spares in the box at least with my AT&T variant.
Still on the original.
They're easy to miss, they're in a very small clear bag.
