Hello everyone, you all probably did notice that the flashlight isn't very bright, but it is much brighter when used for camera. I tried to edit this file
/sys/devices/soc/soc:qcom,[email protected]/leds/flashlight/brightness
adding any value greater to zero and a new empty row it will increase the intensity to the maximum.
But it's very uncomfortable since you have to do this every time you need to increase the flashlight power. Does anyone know a more effective and reliable solution?

I am all for a brighter flashlight. You are right, it really does suck in brightness level. Please elaborate more on your fix, and about your phone. Is is rooted, are you on Oreo or Pie?

What do You think about camera JPEG compression?
I think it's quite more higher than S3.. And anyway I can't set it as in S3..

A tiny "evidence": http://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=1&idPhone2=6033&idPhone3=4238&idCamera1=30003
In my opinion S3 is even better than S5 (in that comparison, not in real life).
Some days ago my front camera stop working. With all camera app I can't switch from rear camera to front one.
I don't use stock ROM anymore but I tried several ROM and even reverted to stock one.
Now I think it is broken. Someone have a way to confirm that? Can you think about a solution (hardware or software)
Thanks

Does this occur only in photo? Other photo modes (panorama, food...) have the same issue?
What I do in this cases is either to update, if there is any available and/or factory reset after backup.
Users has reported that hard reset do not solve the problem. They are now sending info at honor page for investigate. Personally I have not this issue. They have problems setting 16:9 size image and I don't know if other settings like food or panorama report same problem. I have only reported a warning for all users for control their smartphone. If there is here some users with this issue can help us to do all test.

I've seen other photos withe the same error online. All Made with phones that were bought on Amazon

No. Zoom before take the photo and you will see. At maximum zoom level on 9MP.
That's because honor 8 can't get a 12 mpx photo on 16:9, it can get it only in 4:3
Honor will release an update for fix it.

Where is this information from? I mean should a person with this issue ask for a new device from the distributor or just wait for the fix? And when this update going to arrive?

I don't know exactly but the problem was reported by Italian group of honor 8 to honor and they tell him new firmware update will fix it soon. If new owner buy new he can change for another without problem otherwhise he can wait new update.

A member said that he went to a honor showroom, and this issue is present on all black honor 8, only black ones
Not just the black ones in a Hungarian forum users reported this issue at white and blue devices as well. Among the users there it seems that the problem exist at 50% of the devices.
That's a big issue, honor released today an update for FRD-L04, I hope it's for fixing this issue
Someone got the update, he will report if the issue is still present.
Hi, I'm a UK user who got two blue Honor 8's from the Three Store.

Are they 32GB or 64GB ?!
Hello,
some models on Amazon.it have the bug of 16/9 camera. Contacting the Huawei Support (Honor Italy customer care) on number: 800646667 i've recieve OTA B120 on my model: FRD-L09 by giving my IMEI number
Is anyone else having issues with adaptive brightness taking a while to adjust? I am on stock 8.0 with latest security update. When I open the phone it can take 3 seconds or so to apply before I can see the screen.
yes there is a problem, and it is even more irritating for me when in low light room i turn on the screen and it takes 3-4 sec to turn down the brightness
Yes, I have the same issue. Also, my friend has Xiaomi Mi A1 and he also has the same issue. The ambient light sensor responds slowly for some reason. My wife has Redmi Note 4X and its ambient light sensor is much better. Responds instantly when the light changes (e.g. exposing it to direct sunlight). Also, the screen is so much better on the Redmi Note 4X, I couldn't believe. I compared them side by side, and the whites are so white on Redmi Note 4X. On my Xiaomi Mi A1 the white is...yellow, wtf.

Are you sure night light isn't turned on on your phone ?
there are 2 types of screens used in Mi A1, and apparently one of them is showing yellowish colors like you described. the other one is much better and i am really satisfied with color reproduction even with the blacks (not like amoled ofc but really deep).

Of course not. It's just that the display on Redmi Note 4X has better color accuracy. Before I thought Mi A1 has identical hardware as Redmi Note 4X, buy it seems that's not the case.
By now the only thing that annoys me on my Mi A1 is this ambient light sensor being too slow. Apart from that, the phone is OK for the price.

I guess I wasn't the lucky one to get the "right" display.
Ok, after I posted this I turned up the brightness to 50% and still have adaptive switched on, it seems to have sorted it. Previously it was on 5% so maybe there is a bug there that is seeing what brightness setting level it is and adjusting that way and taking too long. Try it and see if it helps (or lower from 50%)

Mi A1 has identical hardware as Mi 5x. And you will be able to adjust the colour of the screen if you root (I'm not sure if it will make it better, because I've got the "right' display, so can't test it)

you can check which display is used in you phone by entering specific code in dialer (i cant remember the code :/), there you can see which components are used, 2 sets of different screens, memories and cameras( not 100% sure for this one) are used.

Did it and the app (Factorykit Test) hangs with a black screen on version info. I think all the other options are fine.
Does it work with the phone rooted with magisk with the stock rom+recovery?
Edit- disabling magisk and xposed solved the issue. The rear modules are OV12A10ii and OV13880ii.

Doesn't work with Xposed. Disable Xposed, reboot, do the tests and enable it again.
As I have had other Xiaomi devices as MI 5 and MI 5s, I´ve noticed backlight buttons on MI Note 2 is pretty low, Anyway to increase it as much as on those devices listed below?

If you could, it would be a setting in a conf file someplace. Or if even possible, do some hardware hacking and change some voltages to get those LEDs a little brighter. Of course actually doing that is more difficult than speculating.
