I have searched but can't find any info specially answering my question.
I previously had a op2 and quickly moved to aospextended and other lineage. The camera was obviously never as good when not using oos.
I have a rooted device and wondering whether it's worth moving away from oos at the minute. Are there any major benefits of the other roms whilst OnePlus are rolling out updates.
Does the camera software suffer ?
What is this, PlayStation?
Anyway, I can't speak to whether camera quality suffers, but it breaks the fingerprint scanner and OP facial recognition so it's not worth switching to me.
I just wish Xposed for 9.0 would get released soon, that'd be amazing

Xposed had been ported unofficially to pie already
https://www.xda-developers.com/xposed-framework-unofficial-port-android-pie/
Not many modules are working however and the source is closed, it's been verified to work but no telling if it's doing anything it's not supposed to.

Yeah, but I wouldn't risk installing it, especially given the nature of Xposed. Closed source hack (which Xposed really is, a one big hack) from an unknown dev, what could go wrong?

Oh I never said I would use it or even recommend it, just saying that it does indeed exist lol.

The title pretty much says it all. I'm on Sprint and I like this phone but I'm not going to get it if the bootloader is locked and/or it can't be rooted. Having ad blocking and Xposed on my phone are basic requirements for me to get one.
Would any kind soul please let me know?
I don't know, but if not anything with the bootloader would love a way to at least get a systemless root, does this sound like something that could even be possible?
It is locked as of now. Root may or may not come.
Get yourself Adguard and live happy. What do you want Xposed for?
I like root just to debloat.
I also like Titanium Backup as well
Yes. Adblocking and titbackup. Xposed would be nice though this phone needs less xposed modules for sure. I think. Lg got a lot of things right ootb.

Is this a serious question? Have you used xposed be before? The YouTube ad blocking alone is worth it. Not to mention being able to tweak literally everything on the phone and basically have a custom ROM like experience without having to flash a new ROM over the stock one. Lets say i want to change the height of my navbar and make it pink instead of black. I can do all that with xposed. If you're asking why xposed is desirable you may as well be asking why customization is needed.

Everyone has their own preferences and ways they live their life. I made this thread to inquire about a specific property of the software (thanks for your input on that), but not any advice on whether or not I should use it. Your advice is unsolicited and unwanted. Thanks.

I've never had stability issues with any xposed modules. My previous device was the LG G4 and I used xposed to tweak the crap out of it and it was awesome. There is a reason why xposed is so popular go look at the xposed threads. Just cause you don't feel its necessary doesn't mean it has no value to other users. This is XDA developer's for godsakes i dont think encouraging people to be content with a stock device should even be allowed on this site. But thats my humble opinion.
Hi,
I have just found that there is a thread in the Oneplus forums that requests to include Viper4Android in OxygenOS.
I am not allowed to root my Oneplus 3T because I also use it for work, but Viper is the one thing i miss most.
Please like the post, maybe the Oneplus developers react:

Not going to happen. Viper is no longer in development. It comes from an age before SELinux. It cannot be implemented in a way that is suitable for "release software".
No longer in development? Last build of ViperFX is of Feb 12, 2017...

Looks like I'm a bit behind on the news. Thing is, if I hit the check for updates button, it still links to 2.4.0.1. That's why I missed it.
But still. It's not something any manufacturer can integrate into software that is shipped to customers.
One Plus would have to pay the devs would they not? It won't happen but it is a really great mod, I wouldn't run my phone without it.
Of course they can implement it. I don't get this SELinux bull, you don't need to break SELinux to get viper working. However viper has huge problems with Oxygen's audio stack in OOs 4. I would love Viper to be official, but I would settle with the audio stack being improved so that viper runs with it properly.
(Yes I know Viper 'works' but not with all the apps I use, and they work fine in CM14 or LineageOS. )

You are way behind.. Plenty of people using it with selinux set to enforcing.. You just need the right policy and when its system software baked into the ROM there is no reason we cant implement it with even fewer tricks.
You know the OS itself runs as root, more or less. We are talking about making it part of the OS

Hello all,
Have always been able to move the signal bars to the left, by all accounts it was easier when on marshmallow.
Coming from the HTC 10 I convinced Jan from team venom to see if he could move them and finally he could..
Just looking to do the same here.
Anyone know if it can be done ?,
Cheers.
It's possible. Underneath the themes and modifications, android is still the same across all devices.
The question is if anyone is willing to implement such a feature.

Not sure mate, it does look decent to be honest, especially with other signal icons.
There was an xposed mod which did it but I'm really not wanting to install that.

There's no Xposed for Nougat. Unless it released recently and passed me by without noticing.
So that option is excluded.
I don't disagree with you that it may possibly look decent. What I meant was that the demand for such a feature may be too low and developers may not find it worthwhile.
You could look for a ROM that catches your eye and ask the developer if he can do it. Or maybe some of the existing ROMs like Resurrection Remix or AICP have it already.

None of them have it already, the work load is high so a request is difficult.
As for xposed, it's included in nolimits xXx ROM? So it is available.
But like I said I'd rather not.

As I said, Xposed did not release for Nougat yet.
The reason it is available for nolimits xXx ROM is because it was compiled with Xposed.
Any Nougat ROM can have Xposed if it is compiled with it, but this requires the developer to support it, which many don't.

Yea that's fine mate, what I meant was is there is a possibility, I'm aware of the problems with xposed, I would prefer not to go down that route. Plus I'm not using xXx no more so it wouldn't make no odds.
Either way, do you know how to shift icons on the status bar ?
I want to isntall Xposed, is there any way to downgrade to oreo on the oneplus 6t

This phone has never had Oreo, it was introduced with pie. You can't downgrade to something this phone has never had.
So much potential and its of no use since rooting is is worthless without xposed. I think we just settled

Device emulator pro , Fake GPS
Easy on the name calling. It was a legit question and we were all 'n00bZ once.

Doesn't Magisk have an Xposed module? Also, stop cheating in Pokemon GO.

Even on my previous OnePlus which was just rooted FakeGPS did what I needed it to do without any issues. I didn't even install it as a system app (so effectively was running a non-root mode). What's the issue with it that you need both root and Xposed tweaks on top of it to do what you need?
I just used it for when abroad on vacation in Europe to watch YouTube TV in the hotel (VPN+FakeGPS=win). :silly:

The issue is I need apps like Device emulator, device id changer , that run only with xposed, moreover there are certain apps that hide detection of fake gps and these apps also need the Xposed framework. Most of the high end rooting apps need Xposed, so root is nothing without xposed

I don't think you get it. Let me simplify it - Rooting for most users = Xposed, and the phone does not allow you to downgrade, therefore no Xposed, therefore no use rooting, therefore the phone popularity will decrease.. Simple ?
Thread Cleaned.
This device was released with Pie and there would not be an Oreo release, atleast not official AFAIK. However there is a concept of virtual xposed floating around for Pie which is still in its initial stage so please allow some time for it to mature before we get something for Pie.
Everyone should know the forum rules so please go through them here. Lets keep the discussion on topic and avoid any personal comments.
Thank you for you understanding.

No, not simple at all.
Very few people, possibly only you, expect to buy a flagship and then downgrade it. I find it silly to expect otherwise. My only advice would be to sell it and get a OP6.
Also, rooting for most users does not = xposed, stop talking in hyperbole. I've been rooting android devices since Gingerbread days (loved that OG Droid) and I rarely use xposed. The only time I ever use it is if I want to run AOSP and then I'll run GravityBox. Most everything else is usually covered by Magisk. I used to run xposed modules for ad blocking YouTube, now theres Vanced YouTube in Magisk, for example. Of course, this example is limited to my experience, but since we're talking in anecdotes evidently, I'll play along.
You do you booboo, get rid of the phone if you like, I just find it silly to fault the phone for your incredibly niche need.

What he said below pretty much sums up my thoughts. I used root on previous devices for only a handful of very straightforward things (adblock, backup, and maybe a few other misc tweaks). I haven't used Xposed since Nougat and didn't really miss a few of the extras (like XPrivacy)

...too add to what he said if you feel you need all this "advanced" tinkering with Xposed + root why don't you develop a stable Xposed Pie build? Okay then...
Just a heads up for the people who say I'm the only one who wants xposed on android pie. Please visit
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/please-support-android-pie-9-0-sdk28-t3829625
and
https://github.com/rovo89/Xposed/issues/376
I'm not faulting you for wanting xposed. I was just saying it's silly to buy a flagship, and be aggravated that you can't downgrade.
https://github.com/M66B/XPrivacyLua/blob/master/README.md is a nice one to have, however it's worth waiting for
While I agree that Xposed is such an awesome thing, I have to also agree with others. A device that was never released with that particular version of Android will never have it. Best case would be to wait it out until Xposed pie comes out eventually, and I'm sure by then Android Q will be on this device and you'll be mad that Xposed Q won't be a thing. I personally don't use Xposed anymore because safety net is a priority for me, but yeah, it's a great mod for sure.
We've had xposed on pie for months.

Are there any custom roms that the fingerprint works with? The few that I have looked at had said the fingerprint does not work.
Search. Fingerprint only works on oos so the only custom rom that it works with is renovate ice. But your honestly just best off staying stock and using gravity box if you want the scanner. There isn't really anything renovate does anymore that gravity box doesn't do anything then some.

Like I said if you want the fp scanner to work go back to stock. As of right now that is the only way it works, and sadly may be forever.
From what I heard, there IS a fix for the fp on custom roms, but the dev got pissed because everyone kept on begging for it. Then the devs deleted the code. Don't know if all of that is true or just crap to keep everyone quiet. Either way, let the people of XDA ruin stuff for everyone else by constantly begging.
The problem, from what I can tell, is that the on display fingerprint scanner is being kept proprietary. Not sure why though. If oneplus would release the API's on it, then it shouldn't be that hard to port. I've been trying to get oneplus to upload frameworsk/base 9.0 branch to their github, but so far, they have not replied to the bug reports. I think, and I might be wrong on this, but with the proper frameworks base, we can find the code needed to fully implement the on display fingerprint scanner. As for people bugging devs for things, that had been happening on XDA for as long as I've been on here. Although we ask to stop, it seems to fall on deaf ears. Sometimes, you just gotta ignore it and move on.
