omnijaws custom location format and API key - Omni Q&A

I have two questions about omnijaws. First what is the format for custom location entry? I have tried everything I could think of to include the grid coordinates. No matter what I have tried it hasn't worked. Secondly is it possible and how do you enter your own openweathermap API key? The git has a link for an XML, but, doesn't explain how to use it.

Removing Icons from Settings wm6

Hey
I was checking around for any specifc ways to remove or hide icons from the settings area. As i understood it right the settings is just like windows control panel with CPL files. Basically in wm5 you just enter HKLM\Controlpanel add a d-word HIDe = 0 to hide the icon.
But with these new Wm6 feature i cannot find the encryption. Anyone know where the cpl is stored for teh encryption?
Or know any other way of hiding that icon in the settings area.
-Abxi-
Ok. I was looking for it on wm 6.1, and no find an exact answer.
Anyway, I delete the WmTsk: delete the exe and ink (maybe dll) and edit
mxip_Oem_Translation_0409.provxml
You have to delete the strings and correct the number of applications.
Hope this help you

Where you found the WmTsk file? And how u actully remove the ink from settings. Trying to find the locations of where they store the ink files for settings havent found it.
On the XML i dont have quite the same view of xml files but i look see if any provision xml is for the encryption. So far only found for certificates.

well, i make all this changes when cook and modify my roms....in fact i delete the clear storage files (ClearStorage.exe, ClearStorage.exe.0409.mui, ClearStorage.htm and ClearStorage.lnk), and work in the mxip_Oem_Translation_0409.provxml file.(modify the Nº of applets, and delete the lines of clear storage), all with Neokit (cook tool located in prophet links)
As I know is the only way, because the config is in the rom, and you can't delete the files, either modify the provxml

Custom Dialpad

I've been using the unskinned dialer on my Vogue for the last couple weeks because its much snappier and features an embedded call history. However, after looking at some of the new Diamond custom dialers I've realized I'm not happy with the default skin, so I started pouring over the Windows directory looking for the images that govern the unskinned dialer in hopes I could directly skin it instead of using the dialer overlays.
I was able to find a few files of use, in particular the gifs that control the background color for the call and end keys, the call history images on the left (for call missed/out/in), and the background image. But after changing the files via TotalCommander and soft-resetting, I see no change.
Is there any way to do this without cooking? And does anyone know where else files might be kept for editing this dialer?
ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated.
I'm curious about this too. I've looked all over, but havent been able to find what i'm looking for. Is there a PSD somewhere for the iphone-ish dialers that has the correct splits and things to create our own?
The custom dialers are an alternative to the original dialer...
Look at the files in the CABs for custom dialers, and you will see they have a different set of files. Look at those, and edit them as you want.
Yes, but the custom dialers lose the embedded call history functionality and are sluggish in comparison with wm's default dialer. I don't mind having to cook a rom to get this to work, but I still don't know where all of the images are stored, particularly the ones for the actual number buttons. And perhaps an xml file governing their placement?

Okay...
Maybe this will work...
In the dll files related to the dialer (can't remember there names off hand), there will be graphic files that can be replaced...
Okay, after much searching (now that I knew what I was looking for), I've come up with a list of dlls that may be related:
phcanhtc.dll
phcanoverBMP.dll
dpadmenu.dll
tapres2.dll
tapres.dll.0409.mui
tapres.dll
also, the reg key hklm/security/resover might allow something
Only problem is I realized after continued reading that some of the info I got was related to wm5 roms trying to get smartdialing working like wm6....so if anyone could help me narrow down which dlls are the right ones to edit, that would be fantastic!
also, whats the best way to edit dll and mui files?

phcanhtc.dll -- Contains some BMPs/images
phcanoverBMP.dll -- Contains most of the images
dpadmenu.dll -- Is to do with the dialer workings... Contains no images (I think)
tapres2.dll -- may contain some images
tapres.dll.0409.mui -- is localisation. Mostly just text strings, but may be some images
tapres.dll -- may contain some images
I use "ResHacker" to open up dlls and modify them...
Just tried copying the needed dlls over to my storage card, tried both totalCommander and RescoExplorer, with flight mode off/on, can't get access to tapres.dll, tapres.96.dll, or tapres.dll.0409.mui
Edit: Thanks for the info and the heads up on reshack!
That may be a problem... I'd guess they need to be cooked into the ROM, in which case it may be easiest to take a ROM, dump it, edit the files there, rebuild it and then flash it...
Yeah, I just realized they're rom files and I can't get at them this way.
But I was able to successfully edit phcanoverBMP and change the call history icons.
Thanks for all your help, its cooking time

No probs!
There are also some files in the WM5 ROM I've dumped in an OEM pack called "Phone_DPI_96" that may be of interest...
they are:
Code:
backarrow_glyph.gif
clg_in.gif
clg_miss.gif
clg_out.gif
cmdpad_land.gif
cmdpad_port.gif
cmdpad_sqre.gif
dialpad_land.gif
dialpad_port.gif
dialpad_sqre.gif
anything beginning with "dlr"
handset_glyph.gif
spd_lst.gif
Okay, so I got ahold of a kitchen, but when I found the tapres dlls in the sys folder, they're not compiled -- its a bin file, 2 txts, and an s000. Reshack can't do anything with these files. What do I do?
You need to use "Reversemode" to turn those into a dll, then you can edit that.
I googled reversemode, and all I came up with was reversemode.com which didn't look like any sort of software that would help with this.

well this seems to be a brick wall. no matter which file I try to use revresmode on, it says it doesn't work on .net files.
Thanks for the help anyways tho.
I don't know about changing the font of the dialer, but you can change the dialer within the rom contents (only the buttons and background) I found that there are two separate folders in the SYS folder. the files are read only. unlock them and edit in photoshop. you don't have to relock them to cook them back in, just save them in the same exact format they were in before you unchecked the "readonly". That is how I edited mine. I have no idea why why anyone would bother trying to mess with the dll's?!!!

Custom city in Weather tab in TF3D

I wanted to add Luxembourg-City to the Weather tab in TouchFlow3D using either Joe's WeatherMaster or the WeatherDatabaseEditor, but nothing works. Did something change with this new device? WeatherMaster gives me a NullReferenceException and WDE does not seem to do anything. I can select a city and just exit, but not add this city to the database. Or am I not understanding how this program works?

Did anyone found a solution to this problem? Is it possible to add custom city in the TF2D weather tab? Or shall we install an other programm? The weather database editor doesn't work...
I now found a solution. It was the first one I tried, but didn't work because of a stupid error.
You have to edit the hh_0409_weathercities.xml in the Windows folder and add a line with the desired city. You can get the code from accuweather.com by searching for your city. The code's in form of CONTINENT|XX|XXXXX|COUNTRY. Delete the trailing bar (|) or else it won't work.
To edit that file, you first have to copy it to a PC, edit it, copy it back somewhere on the phone (not the Windows folder, it won't let you). Then use different file browser (I used GSFinder+) to finally move that file into the Windows folder. Be sure to make a backup of the original file!

Are you sure that you have to delete the trailing bar? All the codes in the xml(hh_0409_weathercities.xml) that you say are with trailing bars... And something else... How do you edit an xml file? Wich prog do you use?
You can edit an xml file with any text editor. It's a simple text file.
All the codes in my file don't have a trailing bar, so perhaps you've got to try both ways.
Have yuo try?
Deleting the trailing bar (|) it works?
With they it don't works...
need a differt city in wheather...
weather PATCH
I understand that we need to use a patch for the weather!
Someone can help me to find?
Thanks to all
It is really simple. Just like petz79 wrote. Except you have to keep that code from accuweather as is (only change %20 character to space). That is only thing you need.
EDIT: It isn't. New city appears in list, but no weather data are downloaded .
EDIT2: I found interesting fact. When I save into XML line bottom, everything was ok.
Code:
<city name="Praha, CZ" loca="EUR|CZ|EZ001|PRAHA" land="Czech Republic"/>
But when I added this, no data were downloaded:
Code:
<city name="Praha, CZ" loca="EUR|CZ|EZ005|PRAGUE" land="Czech Republic"/>
Now I have two "Praha" items in list, but only one is working. Therefore adding of other cities must be hidden somewhere else.
EDIT3: I got it. AccuWeather has two lists - "Favourite cities selection" and "all cities". Weather app on iolite works only with "favourite cities" list, therefore no other cities can be added. I will try to hack it somehow, but I am not programmer, so probably no solution from me for this.
I found the solution. -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3833726&postcount=79
TorrentOnly, you saved me from going completely insane over this!
I couldn't get it to work for the life of me, until I found your Manila2D.exe patcher! Now it finally downloads the data!
anyway thank you very much, it finally worked and I'm happy
PS: first post

[HELP] How to register a dll?

I try to create a program which consists of
.asx files (to show online tv channels),
.lnk files (shorcuts to the .asx files) and
a .dll file which contains only some .ico files (icons of the tv channels).
I added all these files to a cab using WinCE Cab Manager and tried to install it on my ppc. So far so good. The problem occurred when the message “The program can not be installed. Choose another location” appeared during installation, just after the process bar was filled.
Although I have no idea about computer programming, I have created many cab’s with WinCE Cab Manager for skins I have created for several programs. Anyway, I realized that the problem occurred due to the .dll file, since this is the first time I add such a file in a .cab.
I created my .dll file using a .dll from another program which had only icons in it, as well. I deleted them using Restorator 2007 and I had an “empty” .dll sized 4KB. Then I added my icon files using XN Resource Editor.
I searched the Internet to see what might be the problem with the .dll and I found out that I have to “register” my .dll file. I really have no idea what this means but it needs to be done. I also found an option in WinCE Cab Manager for “self-registering” file, but it didn’t work either.
So, the question to you dev guys is how can I register my .dll file, or should I create it from the beginning with another way?
Please help! Thanks in advance!
sorry to repost but it seems that posts keep coming in this forum and this thread is already in the second page and I'm afraid that noone will see it and reply to it. By the way, is there any special sub-forum for such questions?
This may help. I use his instructions to edit existing DLL's
http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-...88904/lisbian-taskbars-for-i910/#entry1023568
It will unsign the dll which will probably fail on your custom dll but it should sign it when you are done editing.
NilsP
Many thanks for your suggestion but unfortunately it didn't work for me.
As you said, this is mainly for resigning already signed .dll files.
Any other help will be appreciated. I can attach it here if anypne is willing to help. Or just tell me the way. Thanks!
I deploy a few dll's with my app, without any problem. If the installer complains about the location, what did you specify where it should go?
There are 2 approaches to solve this problem:
1.) If you have a private key to match a certificate in the device's certificate store, sign the .dll and .cab with this private key and it will be installed with elevated privledges, and be successful. To facilitate this you can install the "SDK Certificates" - and sign with the matching private key (you should be able to find these on a search, term "SDKCerts" or similar)
2.) Look for an "Application Unlocker" or other security reduction tool, run it, and you should be able to install the cab. On this note, if you check here, it will give you a more technical overview of the security policies. You want to change 4101 / 0x1005 to "SECROLE_MANAGER" (8) - which tells the system to install it with elevated privledges. Also make sure 4102 / 0x1006 is set to 1 to allow unsigned applications.
6Fg8
I don't believe that is the location I specified that causes the problem because when I deleted the .dll file from the .cab, it was installed properly. How do you create your dll files? With programming or you just edit existing files? If I send you my .ico files, will you be able to create the .dll file for me?
Da_G
Thanks but both approaches seem very complicated for me!
So, will I need Visual Basic in order to do this or is there any easier way? Can anyone sign the dll for me?

Yes with programming, C++ or .net. Never had any issue with signing. I can try to make a dll if you send me the icons (or post them here if they aren't too secret ).

I have sent them to you by pm. They are not secret at all but I will create a "program" (wannabe ) with that dll and I want that program to be a surprise for users of the forum where I'll post it. I may post it on xda too, but it's nothing important.
Many thanks!

This happens because you've changed resources in signed file, which changed file checksum and invalidated it's signature, and Windows installer refuses to install file with invalid signature. But it won't refuse to install this file WITHOUT signature at all - so use unsigner (search for it on XDA) to remove signature completely; if you encounter error, try to remove signature from original (unmodified) file, and then change resources in it...
6Fg8
the_ozyrys
Thanks to both of you!
6Fg8 has created and signed the dll for me and it finally worked, but I also tried the_ozyrys' method and it also worked.
So thanks to baniaczek too, since he created the unsigner.exe.
Everything worked fine with the dll. Now the cab is installed properly.
However, I have another problem. Just after the installation of the cab on my ppc, it seems that the device freezes for about a minute. This is propably because my cab contains a lot of shortcuts (.lnk files) that go under Programs folder.
So, I would like to ask for another favour, if it's possible. As I said I intend to give this cab to others too. Since this delay can make them believe that my program has freezed their device, I would like to make the cab restart the device just after installation and after uninstallation as well. I think this is made with the "Setup.dll" which I don't know how to create.
If anyone knows how to do this and has the time for it, could you please create this setup.dll for me. If the cab is needed to do this, just tell me to send it to you.
Thanks in advance!
Anyone? Plzzzzzzz!
If you want to sign .dll or .exe u can use the apps posted in the two posts below

Thanks for your answer but 6Fg8 and the_ozyrys already helped me on that.
My question now is how to create a setup.dll in order to make my .cab to prompt the user to restart the device after installation and uninstallation. If anyone can do it for me, I can send you the .cab which I alreday created and you can add the setup.dll with those functions.

Changing Quicklinks on homescreen

This ist probably a stupid question, but I just couldn't find a solution.
How do I change an already existing Quickling on the homescreen? The same question is also valid for the contacts screen.
Once I have defined a Quicklink on the Homescreen there doesn't seem to be a method to change it to something else, I couldn't find it anywhere in the settings. And touch-and-hold doesn't do anything eighter.
So if anyone knows the solution please post it here.

Remove quick links
Try "Menu" (lower right corner) -> Remove quick links ->tap on the one you want to remove -> Done -> you're done
found solution (sorry)
Okay that works.
Thank for your help.
I'm also having Quicklinks problems.
I can delete/change the ones that point to programs but the last row of my Quicklinks point to my top websites (ie; Bookmarks/Favourites) and if I use the normal method to delete them it doesn't work! Has anyone else found this, or a solution?
What might be the issue is that I've installed a cab to increase the number of Quicklinks from 9 (3x3) to 16 (4x4). Could that be causing this, as in a stock HD2 that last row wouldn't even be there...?
Many thanks!
You may certainly use a *.cab which has modified the number of quicklinks on home tab, and which doesn't work properly, isn't ?
You can :
- uninstall this cab
- sof reset
- delete quick links
- install back the cab
- soft reset
Then it's ok.
I realise that this is an old thread but I am a new owner of an HD2 and still finding my way. I have done a search and this is the closest thread to my issue.
Just like ugotamesij I have 16 quick links on my home page. My probem is that I cannot remove an unwanted quick link by using the menu button option to get rid of it. The link that I am trying to remove is to the Excel Mobile program.
I would like to remove the .cab file that gave me the 16 links and then re-install it but I do not know how to remove the .cab file from the SD card.
I have located the particular file using the file explorer and deleted it from the list on my SD card but the 16 quick links still appear on my phone after a soft reset.
Can someone assist please?

you can use the registry editor to remove the links -
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home
There are keys marked with 0..9 (or 0..n)
each item is a shortcut on the home page.
there is a value called "IsExist" set it to 0,
and set all the other tring values to empty.
If you only want to re-order the links -
you can use the app in the following link

I am sorry to reveal my ignorance but I do not know what your instructions mean. I have never had a windows mobile phone before and have never attempted any tweaks.
This registry editor business sounds very interesting but sadly, it's like a foreign language to me.
If you have the time can you break it right down for me or point me to a "how to..." guide?

To edit the registry I use TotalCommanderCE,
it's free, just google it.
After you install it, run it, and click on the [\] button (top right of the screen)
double click "Plugins"
double click "Registry"
and then go to the path specified (HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home\. . . .)
go to each of the number folders and double click the values to edit them.
After editing - exit the TotalCommander,
and hold the power button, and select "power off", than turn the device back on,
so the new values would be loaded on bootup.
I hope it's clear enough.
Enjoy.
(BTW: if you are not sure - write down any o the value you changed,
just in case you need to restore the values to what they were before)
I feel as though I'm on the right path but require a little more help.
After a little further research I installed PHM RegEdit and using the directions provided by Som30ne have found the entry in the registry that relates to the offending quick link (Excel Mobile). It is next to a folder with the number 9.
The path is HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home\9
What do I do to simply remove Excel Mobile as a quick link?

I dont understand - what do you mean it is near the 9 folder ?
There cannot/shouldnt/isnt any quick links near the folders.
The quick links are defined inside the folders.
Inside each of the folders (0 . . N) there are several entries - one of the entried is called "IsExist", and the others contain a path to a program link, and a path to the program icon.
Thanks for you patience.
I finally found the value IsExist and changed it from 1 to 0. I saved my change and then did a soft reset. Sadly, The quick link is still there and resolutely defies any attempts to remove it.
Is there something that I have missed or is there another way? If all else fails I can see only two choices;
1. Perform a hard reset and start again from scratch or,
2. Leave the quick link where it is and learn to live with it.
Any other ideas - PLEASE?
I am fairly new to this registry editing myself, but I also had this problem.
Using the good advice from this thread so far I have managed to get rid of the quick link from my 4x4 quick link grid.
I just looked at the registry values for an empty link and entered the same values for the one I wanted to remove. I then did a soft reset and it seems to have worked.
Thanks for the support speaky05 but I managed to get the required result by simply un-installing the .cab file that gave me the 4x4 grid and then re-installing it.
I don't know why it didn't occur to me sooner.
