Hi everyone!
I hope everyone is warm wherever they are, because it's bleeping cold here!
A friend of mine picked up a Xiaomi Redmi Pro on a business trip to China 2 years ago. He just upgraded with his teleco and tossed me the phone. I got to admit, it looks nice!
However, I'm having trouble unlocking it. If I try with fastboot, I get the following:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot devices
HQAM8DGE69MFQSVG fastboot
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot oem unlock
...
(bootloader) Start unlock flow

Unlock failed - Err:0xffffffff
)
finished. total time: 0.010s
fastboot oem device-info
...
FAILED (remote: unknown command)
finished. total time: 0.004s
The current ROM on the device is MIUI Global 8.0 | Stable 8.0.0.1 (MHQMIDG).
I've tried using different recommended tools to flash a different ROM on to the phone with no successes. Using the MiPCSuite, I get the following error:
{

}
However, there is no way for me to update the device.
XiaoMiFlash.exe gives me this error:
I go into Developers options and there is no field for Mi Unlock status. I did register the device on Mi and have access the it's cloud storage on the phone.
Smart Phone Flash Tool just sits there with no activity:
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

I got this phone as in import like 3 years ago and do wonder why my phone automatically updated to MIUI 10.something while you are stuck on 8.
That said I unfortunately don't have any answers for you. The forum is pretty much dead so you might wanna switch phones soon
I've got same problem. There is no OEM unlock and no Mi unlock status in developer options. Anyone can help?

Hi guys,
I have installed the Nexus ADB driver and at some point the USB port said that failed to install driver whenever i was trying to connect the phone, figured out that there was need of a driver USB3.0 named Renesas
I've managed to install TWRP 2.7 and at somepoint phone crashed and at that point i've used a script to install a root that seems deleted my TWRP , now the phone is in a boot loop.
I have no rom installed - debugging mode cannot be activated
I have no custom bootloader installed - so i cannot run a rom installer from SD card
I can sometimes run the Phone in Recovery Mode , but it's very hard to get it there by the -&power buttons
I cannot connect it to pc because adb devices brings no output.
Now MTP failed to be installed.
I want to get it connected with ADB so I can try to re-flash the phone
Please help me to do something with it , i just want to get it work, no matter what mode or what rom to be installed , a basic one to make it work .
Hi Guys,
Finally managed to connect to P8 via PC with fastboot, i can flash new system , says that it's finished but after this still the error persists , it says that error 11 : no boot
something like this. I've tried to flash the TWRP again , still not working. If i try to do fastboot erase system it says :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot erase system
erasing 'system'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.005s
Any advices?
PS: The solution to connect it was to uninstall all drivers and install them back + minimal fastboot and MTP drivers from microsoft
This is what I've managed to do so far , it says successful but still not working :

Hello Guys,
I've managed to re-install the stock firmware after trying to flash many others ,i've been on the official website of Huawei and downloaded HUAWEI_P8 lite_Firmware_ALE-L21_Andriod 6.0_EMUI 4.0_C185B525_Middle East%26Africa_Channel-Others , with this one worked, but still the custom recovery is not flashed, i've tried to flash TWRP and CWM
At this point i've managed to make it work, so futhernow i'm kind of afraid to do more :d to be honest.
Please advise if you have any ideas , if not i will let it like this as it works now, but if in the future it will happen again to do the weird things with share screening and other settings perhaps i'll try to flash it again.
Waiting forward for replies.

so what i do as a next step?
Please try to be clear, describe your problem clearly, it's hard to understand what you are saying..
I read and understand is this,
Nougat blur zip can not be flashed via FASTBOOT method... If you have corrupted Recovery or anything then just flash STOCK IMAGES...
For Bootloader unlocking ( follow Complete Guide)
-Turn on your phone,
- goto Settings > Developer options
- find Allow OEM unlock and enable it.
Same question. What are you trying to do? Your best bet it to revert back to stock images over fastboot and reread how you install the soak test. If that is what you are trying to do.
Hello there,
I have a problem, my Huawei Mate 9 Pro (C636) device does not install OpenGApps when I do, although no error messages appear in TWRP (3.2.1-0)
I have in the logs the installation of the different applications that are running. But during the OS boot (Lineage OS 15.1 OpenKirin) I don't have any of the applications (I tried the pico, nano, and super versions of opengapps).
In addition to this concern, since the last re-installation of my lineageOS firmware, I have the FRPLock option which is activated in my bootloader that I can't uninstall, which prevents me from reinstalling my OS.
How to disable it knowing that I can't reactivate the "OEM Unlock" option in the developer options because, according to android, the OEM lock is already disabled.
Thanks to all those who will try to help me, I have not found anyone else in the same case as me, I get stuck.

I finally succeeded on my own ^^
I'm so happy.
Here the solution to fix it :
To solve the problem if others are in the same situation, I have performed an update via e-Recovery but using the Wifi sharing of my PC. On the connection sharing network card of my PC, I put the DNS given by the "Multi-Tool 8" software via the firmware finder, I took the latest firmware from my smartphone and I launched the search on e-recovery in Wifi.
After long waits, it restarted
If my upgrade fails, how do I boot from the slot that I installed the crap on the inactive slot from so the phone boots to the old version before the update?
I wanted to know and found the answers. I'll post here in case anyone wants to know cause I found nothing on these forums:
How to Check if Partition Slot A or Slot B is Currently Active?via https://krispitech.com/check-partition-slot-a-b/
Make sure the smartphone is connected to the PC with a USB cable
Now boot the smartphone into Fastboot Mode
This process will vary from device to device but usually involves holding certain button(s) down during the boot cycle.
Open up a Command Prompt, Windows PowerShell, or a Terminal in the same folder as your ADB and Fastboot files
Type out the following command. . .
fastboot getvar all
. . .then press Enter on the keyboard
Wait for a lot of text to finish scrolling and look for the (bootloader) current-slot text
This should actually be toward the bottom without the need to scroll up.
The letter after this text will be the currently active partition slot for your device

In this instance, my device was currently using partition slot B.
How to Boot from One Active Partition Slot to Anothervia https://krispitech.com/change-active-partition-slot/
Boot the smartphone or tablet into Fastboot Mode
Connect the device to the PC with a USB cable
Open a Command Prompt, PowerShell, or Terminal and type out the following command. . .
fastboot --set-active=a
OR
fastboot --set-active=b and then press Enter on the keyboard
Make sure you get a successful OKAY response before restarting the device
So if my updates go pear-shaped, I should be okay. And if not, well, I'm not buying a OnePlus ever again cause I've had it with all the extra steps, headaches, and disappointments with this model.
Excellent guide, I like it.
Think check out TWRP too, I think ( not 100% ) but I think it can change slots for you too.
Hello,
i have here a Xiaomi M1903F10G from a good friend, which stuck in a boot loop: phone seems to boot normal, home screen is visible for roundabout 1 second and the phone reboot immediately. Do we have a chance to get the user data (family photos etc.) ?
With Vol+ + Power button i get a "main menu mi-recovery 3.0" with the following options:
Reboot
Wipe Data
Connect with MIAssistant
With Vol- and Power button i can enter Fastboot mode, here are some info:
Bash:
[email protected]$ fastboot oem device-info
(bootloader) Verity mode: true
(bootloader) Device unlocked: false
(bootloader) Device critical unlocked: false
(bootloader) Charger screen enabled: false
OKAY [ 0.001s]
Finished. Total time: 0.001s
I can successful enter the EDL mode (i think) via shorting the pins on the main pcb, then phone shows up as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM6)". According to [GUIDE] How to dump and write back the storage on most of Qualcomm devices i should then use the right firehose file and try to open the partition manager. I tried many different firehose files(see attachments)/storage settings/2 computers(win10x64)/cables(usb-a 2.0/usb-a 3.0/usb-c), i can never successfully open the partition manager.

Now the question:what i can do to recover the user data for my friend ? I know i could oem unlock and try to boot into twrp, but as far as i know unlock would wipe all user data. (My friend has also the bill from when he bought the device if that helps).
there is not much you can do on locked bootloader. you can dump raw partitions, that's it. it isn't of any use because of encryption. all you could try is check file system for possible errors (if not metadata encrypted)
have you found loader that worked? try this python script in linux

Hello Alecxs,
thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, in the meantime i had to give the phone back to my friend. She told me, she want to try her luck with a commercial data recovery store. Hopefully they are lucky and are able to recover the photos.
Best,
Marcel
Recover photos? Aren't photos synchronised with Google?
Nope.
Then, all data should be backuped. No way to retrieve as data is encrypted anyway
