your device has loaded a different operating system moto g6 plus - Moto G6 Plus Questions & Answers

this message started to appear after I tried to install an updated rom on my g6 plus, my smartphone has the bootloader unlocked so I had to try to install the updated rom

If you are forcing the update installing from an local .zip file like anyone in mirrors.lollinet always appears because that SO isn't signed by Motorola. So you can't do anything. It never will disappear, but it not mean you have a big problem, it just say you are out of warranty

[Q] Bricked verizon lg g2 by install software update, don't know what to do

Hi guys, I got my LG G2 a few months ago and it was my first android phone. Since I always jailbroke my apple devices I decided to root my lg g2. Everything worked fine until last week when I was prompted to install a software update. I thought this might mess up the phone since it was rooted so I postponed it until later in the day to give me time to research, but I forgot to postpone the update again and it went through at the scheduled time. Now when I turn my phone on, the lg logo is displayed, and then I get a boot certification verify error. I don't really know what that means but I can't do anything, no recovery, no download mode. I started to follow this tutorial but am stuck at what files to download. I do not know if I have the 10b, 11a, or 12b variant, and I can't find a way to check it without turning the phone on, which I can't do. I'm really lost at what to do at this point, I can't follow the only guide that might fix my phone. Is there another way to solve this issue or find which variant I have? Would verizon accept it back to fix or replace it since it's been rooted? I've read some people saying they unrooted their phone and then returned it to the carrier, is it possible to do that in my situation? I really need some help guys.
TBH: I would call Verizon, and tell them the phone was bricked by the update- hope they don't notice it was rooted when they warranty it. Problem is, if they do you get charged full amount for phone. I'd consider if you have insurance to just claim it on insurance.
try download lg support tool from lg website http://www.lg.com/uk/support/software-manuals
plug the device and wait for the software to recognize ur version.
I downloaded and installed it, but it won't recognize by phone. I have installed the drivers for it
ok.
try to follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2681089
and the files download from here:http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G2/VS980/Stock_Firmware/10B_Partitions
lets try this virsion and see what happend..
download the 10B zip file and the dll file too http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G2/VS980/Stock_Firmware
now it doesn't boot at all, not even to the lg logo. Additionally the partitions don't show up in ubuntu any more. I guess i'm completely screwed now?

No OTA updates after restore to Stock Firmware

Hey all,
Having a small issue with my Verizon LG G2.
When I first got it on launch, I rooted it, installed loki (to bypass the locked boot loader) and have been running custom ROMs.
This is the way I ahve been running it since, on 12B, with loki and CM11.
Before I installed custom roms I did a image backup using Clockwork.
Yesterday I bought a Droid Turbo, so it was time to restore the G2 in preparation for sale.
I attempted to restore my original backup of the stock image, but it failed (stating something about an inability to restore/system, resulting in a soft bricked phone.
I fixed this by downloading the LG Flash tool, and the stock 24A .kdz image, putting the phone in download mode and flashing it.
The LG flash tool seemed a bit buggy, complaining about not finding servers, but eventually flashed the phone with the .kdz.
Everything seems to have worked well. Root is gone, clockwork is gone, (and I assume loki is gone as well, but I can't tell) but now I can not do the latest OTA updates, and am stuck on 24A.
It's not that it downloads the OTA, and then fails to install it, but rather it complains that it is unable to download the updates at all.
I was thinking this might have something to do with the fact that the CDMA radio is now unactivated (since I got a new phone) and it somehow needs to verify with the Verizon network prior to downloading, so I grabbed a working SIM and popped it it in. Even with 4G via the SIM, the OTA downloads don't succeed.
Does the CDMA radio need to be activated in order for a phone to receive OTA updates? If not, I ahve something else wrong going on, and would appreciate any suggestions regarding fixing it.
The plan was to sell the LG G2 to pay for my Droid Turbo upgrade, but I don't want to sell the phone to someone if I think it may be having issues.
I would appreciate any thoughts and suggestions from you guys!

This Sub is effin confusing. Need help removing ads on a unlocked bootloader xt1625

1st off I've been on XDA for many years and this Sub-forum confuses the hell out of me. Threads are cluttered with talk over all the variants of the G4 which confused me on what I could do with my device. That being said here is my issue...
I just got a XT1625 G4 and proceeded to try to get the adds removed. Reading this thread. It failed so it said to unlock the bootloader via getting a key from Moto which they let me do and I am unlocked according to the boot screen warning and fastboot info reporting "flashing_unlocked".
I then ran the script again but the device was unable to boot and went straight into recovery with it reporting at the bottom "WE HAVE DETECTED AN ATTEMPT TO FLASH UNAUTHORIZED SW ON YOUR DEVICE. CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR ASSISTANCE." which I fixed by following this thread
Now reading more users say that this device can not have the bootloader unlocked (um mine is) and that amazon/moto have patched removing adds. Not sure what is true so I need some clarification.
Ideally I want to just flash a stock rom with no adds if possible and receive ota updates...can i?
OR remove the adds on the amz rom and get ots updates.
This phone is not for me so i dont want to have to fix it all the time. If this is not possible im going to send this amazon virus infected phone back....
I would honestly spring for the normal xt1625, you can even flash the nougat update on it since it's the xt1643 with a lower camera, no laser focus, and no fingerprint reader.
I got mine at best buy and did unlocks with no issues. It's definitely an Amazon thing. Like my old Moto g on Verizon I couldn't unlock.

US997 US Cellular/BRIGHTPOINT Bootloader Unlock Solution??

OK so I need some help...
When I originally purchased my LG G6 in June of 2019, I made sure it was a US997 model, but I ended up getting a BRIGHTPOINT version during my purchase. I went through the website to check the imei and the device ID and it gave me the not unlockable status.
After that, I went and decided to update the software manually to US99721e since it wouldn't OTA it and have been on that ever since. Now, I just recently tried while on the 21e software and I was given an unlock.bin code!
So if someone could help me out:
IF you're on a US997 BRIGHTPOINT G6:
-Download LG UP and UpperCut
-Download US997_21e_01_0211-UCL.kdz at lg-firmwares.com (this is the one I'm on, try this one first!)
-Once it's done, enable developer mode, adb debugging, and OEM unlock
-Go through the unlocking process
Please let me know what you find out!!
Is that only for us cellular?
Sent from my V60 ThinQ using XDA Labs
I have a brightpoint LG G6, which I bought as the seller claimed it was an unlocked US997, failing to share it was a OEM phone. I don't understand how this works please can you clarify? I tried the unlocking process and I have to supply my phone information to LG. Their database says it is a brightwell phone and so they won't release the unlock. Are you saying that after installing this ROM I don't need the key from LG to unlock the bootloader?
I have installed Uppercut and LGUP (1.14 as newer versions don't seem to work). I downloaded the ROM and I have the LGUP loaded. It shows the phone using US99721a. I have 4 process options, Refurbish, Upgrade, FOTA upgrade or Phonesettings which is the one to use?
It works! At least I obtained an unlock.bin file from LG. I need to work out which is the best LG G6 US997 ROM and how to load it when my SD card doesn't work. Any help or pointers to useful information much appreciated. For anyone else trying this here is what I found. I downloaded the LG windows drivers and LGUP 1.14 (There are newer versions but these don't work with uppercut. I downloaded Uppercut from XDA website and then you run Uppercut not LGUP. This immediately caused my virus checked to block it as it contains a trojan. I didn't like that but googled to find others had the same issue. There seems to be a way to load the correct file to get LGUP to work directly and I would recommend researching that but I disabled the virus software and proceeded. I used the UPGRADE option in LGUP - you need to reboot your phone into download mode. To do so, disconnect USB cable then Power off the phone completely. Now hold Volume Up then plug in USB cable at the same time. Make sure that LGUP is NOT running when you connect the USB cable and start it once you are in download mode. It loads the ROM very quickly and takes a bit longer to reboot and then it needs time to upgrade android as you have a 6 months newer version of Android 8. Then follow direction on the LG unlock site https://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev. You will need to install ADK https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools unzip after you download. LG emailed my unlock code immediately.
Yes, I can confirm that it works with the US997 model now. I already was at version US99721e so I didn't have to jump through the hoops to load this version. I went through the steps to unlock the bootloader via the LG developer website and voila, got sent the unlock.bin file, too.
Now I am pretty sure that I tried that in past perhaps 1-2 years ago and it didn't work, so perhaps LG has secretly flipped a few bits in their database to allow unlocking for these not quite brand new devices.
I just applied the unlock.bin and got the "cannot check for corruption" warning on the boot screen. So this is working - fantastic!
Now have to restore my device from the LG Backup I made before and put on the SD card.
I had tried the unlock last year but I didn't retry before I updated so it may have worked anyway and the update of the ROM wasn't needed. I unlocked the phone and installed Sky Hawk recovery but when that starts it asks for a deception password and nothing I have tried works. I'm not sure if that is a real issue or I can continue safely with flashing a new ROM. Has anyone worked through this issue?

First, when you're in Adroid remove all screen lock mechanisms, you can re-enable it later.
Enable USB debugging, do adb reboot bootloader and fastboot flash recovery with this recovery instead (rel_o2):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-unofficial-fixes-t3722199
Do the button combo to launch recovery. If you're in recovery, first reformat /data (you have to enter "yes") to get rid of encrption and after that flash the anti-root removal tool mentioned in the post. Then reboot into recovery and then flash Magisk and/or your ROM of choice. Note that I have only used this with stock ROM and Magisk and not tried any custom ROMs, but the thread has plenty of people having also tried other ROMs.
How do you even know if you have a Brightpoint device?
I found out when I tried to unlock. http://mobile.developer.lge.com/
Thanks for the info. I'll dig into this once I know for sure that a version of Android 10 is available to load into the phone.
What I've been dealing with so far keeps asking for a 15 digit IMEI number. My phone only has a 14 digit value.
I pulled box (yes I kept it) and discovered that the IMEI is 15 digits. No idea why the value is the phone truncates the last digit. The site that checks IMEI numbers says that it is the platinum edition: US997PL. Gee, the box says that.

Stock flash and relock problem (lg up + upercut)

Hi
I had unlocked my lg g6 bootloader, and installed custom rom.
After few months with custom rom, I want to get back to the stock lg rom, with dual camera and L1 widevine.
So I tried to install the stock rom and relock bootloader:
Using LG up , downloaded .kdz file, and upercut, I get each time dll problem. The LG up version does not match with the phone version. I tried to place or replace some dll files found online in LGUP/common/LGUP_Common.dll
Nothing happens, I still have this issue.
Then, I tried with LG bridge (update - repair update).
It worked, I installed the stock rom. I still had the bootloader unlocked.
I locked the bootloader with adb and fastboot, and did factory reset.
So why I am posting this message ?
Because now, with the stock rom installed by LG bridge, I have L3 widevine and not L1. And the camera application (and all apps using the camera) does not work.
I think, I need to rewrite properly the original rom with LG up, but I don't know how to make it work properly. I used one time LG up by the past when I soft bricked my phone, and I did not get any dll issues.
Now, I am trying to do it, and nothing works. I tried 2 computers (1 windows, 1 linux+Windows VM) nothing.
kdz problem, dll problem, computer problem ? I don't know...
I really wish someone could help me
Thanks, very much.
If you are coming from Custom ROM to Stock, you need to flash Nougat first. If you dont your camera wont work.
I think that like my old LG L9 the G6 has a PROM/fuse bit which remembers if the bootloader had been unlocked once. This could explain the Widevine issue. Samsung introduced Knox years ago, which also won't ever forget unlocking and prevent further use of certain Samsung applications.

Did you solve?
Cause I did almost same things as you: wanted to go back to stock after experiencing some random reboots with lots of custom roms (which worked till few months ago) and so flashed back the original Pie (H87030b_00_OPEN_EU_OP_1105.kdz) via LGUP but ended up with camera and flash not working at all.
While on custom rom everything works smooth, a part from random reboots
Right now I'm flashing H87011i_00_OPEN_EU_OP_0108.kdz (Nougat) but I'm not sure if it will solve the problem.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: camera is working on Nougat, butnow I have to deal with that damn "moisture" notification
EDIT2: after almost a full day of updates I can use my LG G6 with stock rom, stock camera and be very happy with it ;-) thanks @SkylineDiT for the tip of going back to Nougat, didn't know it.
