Flashing 8x ROM does not work - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using TWRP 3.2.1 and OOS version 3.6.1
I had previously tried 3-4 Pie(9x) ROMs and i could flash them and use it for a while.
Wanted to try 8x versions as my main SIM is Jio. Unfortunately all 5 ROMs i tried got stuck in animation page after flashing. Not able to proceed. already tried both clean installation and dirty flash. All the cases same result. In between had tried one more Pie ROM it worked well.
Can any one help?

need a custom .kdz to unbrick, can someone help?

basically i flashed weta and used the google assistant option, that changed my model name to Pixel XL and somehow im bootlooped withoutrecovery, im just trying to get back to stock and fix this
I had the same problem. The only one that seems stable when installing is WETA 1.0. It was really tricky to get my phone into recovery. I tried to do like 20 times before it would boot into recovery. Then right before it did boot it to recovery it asked if I wanted to do a factory reset. I clicked yes and it brought me into recovery. After booting into recovery I clean flashed WETA 1.0, used an app on the PlayStore called FlashFire to dirty flash 1.1, then I just dirty flashed 2.0. This rom seems to have a lot of problems when installing. But, he seems to have to only rom that focuses on the audio of the phone. Once it was installed I'm having no problems. To tell you the truth I am waiting for a Cyanogenmod/LineageOS rom to get the 2nd screen working.

see, im soft bricked right now, but with no recovery, they key combo doesnt work, all i have is fastboot, if someone could modify the kdz to say pixel XL instead of h918 or whatever it does say i could then flash back to stock
UPDATE:
fixed my issue by locking the bootloader then unlocking it again using fastboot and using the key combo to get into twrp
I know the samething happened to me. You still have recovery it's just finicky. It said Pixel XL because of the Google Assistant mod. That is not the problem. WETA 1.1/2.0 rom has problems with a clean flash for some reason.
If you really want WETA follow these steps:
1. Clean flash WETA 1.0
2. Use an app on the PlayStore called FlashFire to dirty flash WETA 1.1
3. Dirty flash WETA 2.0 with TWRP

Can't Install Custom Roms

Hello,
Firstly, my device is the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 6GB Ram variant.
I was using the Pixel Experience rom as my daily ROM (I don't remember which build), it worked fabulously. But I hadn't updated it in a few months. So after enough procrastination I decided to update. I tried the regular software update method where you go to settings and check for updates, when it booted to TWRP recovery, it failed with an error. I thought it was because the update was the latest one and I was on an older build. So I tried doing a clean install by booting into recovery and wiping everything except internal storage. But the same error popped up again
I don't remember the exact error but it was an Error 7 and said something about the 'firmware version' required is 15.2016.1901.339 or newer. At first I didn't really get it and I kept trying again.
But after spending some hours it started making some sense and so I tried to install the required firmware. Even after doing so, the error kept showing up.
I thought it might be a ROM specific error. So I also tried Resurrection Remix (Pie version) but it yielded the same Error 7. This is the phone I use on a daily basis so I had to get it working somehow. So I flashed the stock ROM, the one that comes out the box. I flashed it using the flashall_AFT.cmd, I'm on the stock ROM now and it's obviously nothing like a custom ROM.
I also tried editing the updater script from the ROMs and deleting the part that was about the error (the first few lines). That didn't work either. The Error 7 was gone but another Error 6 popped up which said it failed to install.
I'd love to go back to using a custom ROM. It bugs me because I couldn't find any way to fix the error.
I'd greatly appreciate it if you can guide me step-by-step on how to install the custom ROM from where I am now i.e from the stock and fix the error.
I hope the above information suffices.
Thanks.

Most pie roms are base on the latest stock pie firmware, you probably need to flash that. Plus Ur twrp version is probably not the newest, all the links are available in the telegram group, and I'm not going to put them here out of respect for the devs. But .339 firmware is the Oreo firmware, I think the one u need to flash is the .050 firmware.
The telegram groups have them all and a little searching can give you all the links you need.

The latest Pixel Experience works great!
So you are on the Stock Firmware then.
1) Unlock the bootloader by Unofficial method (It will help when you want to relock it in future.)
2) Flash the latest TWRP Recovery.
3) Download whatever ROM you want to install and read all the requirements first! The error 7 you mentioned was the Firmware issue and could have been fixed by flashing the Firmware first and then the ROM.
GApps are not required for Pixel Experience as it comes with all the necessary Google Apps.

Bootloop on anything except stock MIUI

When I try to flash any ROM other than stock Global 10.3.11.0 (PFJMIXM), I get a bootloop: either it directly boots into fastboot after showing the MI logo once, or it keeps rebooting and showing the MI logo. The only way out is to flash stock MIUI via mifirm.
I have tried Lineage, ParanoidAndroid and Pixel Experience and carefully followed the instructions in the thread. I am using the greek TWRP 3.3.1-12-08-19 by geoanto555. In fact, when I first unlocked the bootloader yesterday, I was able to get Lineage working, but then I tried a different ROM and since then I can't even get Lineage to boot.
Any ideas?
My LineageOS guide links to the twrp I'm using, which is the russian one and not the greek one. The greek one seems to have issues. Also, always wipe -> format data between roms. Finally, check on which miui are the roms based. My lineage is based on latest global. Other I've seen are based on 10.3.9.0 or even 10.3.6.0, so they obviously won't work correctly with 10.3.11.0.

Flashing Custom rom i get stuck at fast boot but flashing xiaomi.eu works fine

Hi,
I've done countless steps and watched a ton of videos today but still can't answer this and it feels like I'm missing something simple.
I received my xiaomi 9t today and quickly unlocked the bootloader (no wait time possibly because I had a Mi8 before hand so I already had an account). I've since installed TWRP as well as tried OrangeFox Recovery and still can't get any custom roms to work, it goes directly to the fastboot screen. I can get back into TWRP and flash xiaomi.eu rom, no issue but as soon as I go to a custom rom I get fastboot.
I've flashed my Mi 8 countless times but I can't seem to get this to go. I've tried making sure the mounts were correct, I've flashed a disable forced encryption thing that I saw on some youtube videos and still nothing works.
Thanks in advance,
Joe

Hello, what OrangeFox version did you install?
You should try with R10.1_1 if you are using latest one.
If your phone is working with xiaomi.eu ROMs..., do you know xiaomi.eu ROMs are custom ROMs?
You generally only have to "Format Data" in TWRP before flashing another ROM (stock or custom).
Good luck!
Hi,
Thank you for the reply. I now have OrangeFox R10.1_1 installed. sorry I should've said other custom roms aren't working xiaomi.eu seems to be fine for some reason.
I just installed OrangeFox, reflashed xiaomi.eu and booted, worked fine. Then I went back, formatted data, rebooted back to recovery, flashed AOSPextended and gapps pico. Rebooted to system and it went to the fastboot screen again. I noticed it says during the AOSP install that "Root Status: Disabled" could that be a problem?
Thanks again for your help.

Use the official TWRP.
You should install latest stable xiaomi.eu rom or install latest China rom through MI flash, you need latest vendor partition for latest custom roms to boot properly.

I installed the latest Global Rom 11.0.5. via OrangeFox. I couldn't get it to go with Mi Flash. Not sure how to create the flash_all.bat and where to get all the files from. Is that the same? What are the steps from here?
Thank you
The same exact issue I am facing. Tried multiple custom roms and everything failed to boot only resulting in bricked or error. Even my previous budget phone redmi 3s was much better than this.

Stuck in TWRP as custom roms are not booting after flashing with TWRP

Hello,
i got a second phone for my GF as i was really happy with this phone and had it flashed without any issues before. This second phone is used and was over a year in use from the guy i've bought it from. It was 100% fine and he always used the shipped Android with it.
So i went on, got the latest TWRP for the phone. Flashed it without any issues and tried to install LineageOS from their website. Flashed it and tried to flash TWRP back as LOS replaces it. I wanted to use TWRP install the backups. But that's where it started to go wrong. Lineage seemed to have been gone from that point on. I couldn't get it to work again, even with reflashing and such. I've downloaded CRDroid and Paranoid and tried them but no luck. Non of them where booting up and TWRP stays showing a warning about "No OS installed".
After some more digging, i've found some posts stating that i would need newest firmware and venders. I've downloaded and flashed them but this made it even worse. The phone started to be stuck in fastboot. I got it working again by flashing latest MIUI version with Xiaomi Flash Tool.
Then i've installed TWRP again but somehow any rom i flash does not boot. The phone starts with the MI logo and flashes once and loads TWRP. There is no message about missing OS or any kind or error when flashing any of these roms.
Anyone able to help me?
