New Update 47.2.A.6.30 - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Guides, News, & Discussion

Anyone know what fixes/changes are included?

They fixed issue with wifi at first boot configuration (not connecting),
January security patches and for me phone works faster.
Sent from my Sony Xperia XZ Premium using XDA Labs

Well that all sounds very positive! Hopefully they won't be long with the customised UK version of it (still haven't got the previous update).

its with january security patch?

Yes

Light sensor seems more sensitive. Let's hope they fixed the Smart backlight issue.

what's with the delay to UK devices?

Hey do you all have the issue with low volume and bottom speaker isn't working. I am still on december patch and I have the issue of bottom speaker isn't working and I have to squeeze the top one to get it working.

After this update, I have this issue where the phone shows as if no sim card is inserted immediately after the boot. It takes around 5 minutes for the phone to detect the sim cards. I had done a factory reset which seemed to have solved the issue, but the issue returned after installing the Google dialer, earlier before factory reset I had XZ3 dialer.
Anybody else facing this issue! Just after reboot the phone takes too long to detect the sim cards and networks, if you have a third party dialer/xz3 dialer installed.
I have dual sim variant. Phone detects the sim and network immediately if only one sim is inserted in either of the slots. Which means it is not a hardware issue. I believe it exists only in dual sim variant and is a software issue for phones with a non stock dialer.
Please can someone check and confirm if this issue exists?

no isaues so far here. also would agree that the smartbackligt seems better.
does anyone know how to move the clock back over to the right side though?

No issues for me too, orange customization. I had bug with wifi and gps, now it's ok. Everything is stable.

How to root this version ?
Thanks

I had this Issue and with the new update it's gone.

This release seems to have fixed my SD card error issue in camera. Previously I would get error once in a while when taking a photo and I have to retake. Very annoying. Since updating no more errors so far.

You cannot without root
It's by Google ( all companies doing the same thing in Android Pie 9.0 )

Clock change
For changing the clock position to right side, you must have root and then use substratum and the module for status bar mod, instructions here https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/themes/mod-center-statusbar-clock-p-t3818726

sound problem still exists the bottom speaker is not working

[Hardware issues] Jiayu S3 Post here

Hi
Now that we have our own corner (still, our own forum would be better), but, until then ...
Any hardware issues?
Post here!

Issues: None so far

- KK 4.4.4 OTA 507
Phone works aok for me.
Note: can't use charger with less than one amp draw or touch screen flakes out.
Had to use name brand SD 64gig card from Samsung as it would not recognize generic SD card of equal size.
Basic
CH Version
~Mid of February
SpeMall
KK 4.4 20150430
Issues:
-Gyroscope is too sensitive and inaccurate.
-Magnetometer (Compass) is really bad, keeps spinning even if the phone is still. And doesn't show real north (actually misses too much).
-Slight pressure points on screen (Like when you press a bit harder, looks like when you press LCD monitor and "bleeds" a little). Probably isn't laminated well. It doesn't bother me so I just mention it.
And I hope someone will help me solve problem with gyro and compass!

Antelife (China)
Originally installed with 20150314 KK, since upgraded to superdragonPT's beta 3 and then unoffical 1Jul15 LP 5.1 - latter both working well
Issues:
Lower microphone only works in Sound Recorder/Video Camera, fails to work on calls or OK Google - suspect software glitch somewhere, but have ordered replacement USB/lower mic board, and will report back when fitted
Occasionally under KK (stock), when hitting the slider to unlock the phone it would 'stick' and the only way to resolve was to take battery out
Deezer does not work well under KK (stock) - have to keep screen alive to allow it to play one track then the next on an album, otherwise the second track will not load properly - suspect Deezer issue not optimised to work with octacore models

Issues: Low Mic Volume Call. But Google Now works.

•Purchase date June 2013

•Rom / OS Version : KK 4.4.4 S3SW 20150314-141844
Works perfectly, no issues
(when I first received the device, it wouldn't detect my simcard and didn't have an imei stored, after I contacted support they advised that all I had to do was perform a factory reset and the phone would allocate its IMEI... I did so and now the phone is working perfectly)

No my friend, I've tried everything and dozen of compass apps that "calibrate" this way and even some apps that are just for calibration.
I've seen however in engineering mode when going to msensor (magnetometer) it says with data is wrong so it might be broken sensor, but it is kinda unimaginable. I've seen many people report these two (gyro, compass) not to work correctly. Also, my friend got S3 and he has the same problem.

Accuracy 0.0 looks odd. Mine is 0.2 but also mentiones 'NOT GOOD'. It works though.
When I leave compass on table it keeps drifting, sometimes it can make few circles even though phone is still.
What ROM do you have?
And what are your experience with gyro? Can you try google camera and see if photo sphere works?
Cheers!

Very strange indeed. I fired up my engineering mode to see what I got, and it started the same, 0.0, NOT GOOD. but after about 90seconds, the green bar spiked and I got good data. See the attachment.

Is this values normal compare to yours?
Mine heats up also when playing online 3d games with heavy graphics, no overheating wile browsing (i'm talking about 3g and wi-fi though - don't use 4g).Have you tried to lower the CPU frequency to 1,5 for example. Some guys here thing it heats up because of the turbo function 2 cores are getting boosted to about 2.0 mhz. When needed. Don't know how to switch that off... If someone has solution is welcome to share.
Is there a way to know jiayu s3 manufacturing date in software?, maybe via engineering mode or some special code? (like, for example, "Phone INFO ★Samsung★" on Google Play Store does for Samsung)? Knowing date might perhaps help correlate hardware issues.
Good news - got the replacement lower USB/mic board today - swapped out easy enough, and now finally have a working lower microphone. Very pleased, fix cost about £5 from Vifocal (http://vifocal.com/usb-connector-with-mic-deputy-board-repalcement-for-jiayu-s3-smartphone.html), took 24 days to get here from China.
Now I can finally use the S3 as a phone, not just a tablet.
It's good to see that spare parts are available for the S3 (particularly with the future of Jiayu in question) and self repairs are achievable. I would choose a self fix if the parts are cheap enough rather than waiting weeks for warranty service anyway.
I have two devices and the LCD calibrations are noticeably different. On one the whites have a very slight pinkish hue(like red needs to be turned down a touch). It also has a very small amount of backlight bleed in the bottom corner which is more noticeable due to the backlight being white and the screen being slightly pink. Simple RGB calibration tools could correct this (like the franco kernel on the nexus devices) but so far I cannot find a tool to do this at kernel level so filter overlay apps are the only option and miravision doesn't help.
Has anyone else noticed backlight bleed or slightly pink screen? Admittedly it would be difficult to detect if you don't have a second device to compare it to.

Issues:
Well, at first, i was pretty excited when i received. I had to cut my old sim cards to micro sim.
And when i tried to connect them, the phone was not recognize them. My though: "Maybe it's because they are old sim cards, i asked to my operator a new ones".
While i was waiting, i've tried a micro sim from a friend, and it didn't recognize as well.
My surprise, when searching on the net, for this kind of problem, i dialed *#06# to see the IMEI, and both are "Invalid"..
Since then, i've tried many ways to restore the IMEI.
"#4634# - After put the IMEI, shows a message that IMEI was successful changed, but when i check, they are the INVALIDS again.
I've tried the IMEI_FIXING MTK. (with sn_gen.exe ) replacing the old file for the new one that is created. And nothing happens too. :crying:
My last thought, is to update my phone to that S3S Lollipop v5.1 – Release Candidate, and see if it fix the problem.
But, for now, it seems that ROM it has a some bugs..
Can anyone help me with this?
Many Thanks

anyone else just get a second october update?

I just got this. The first October update was 105mb and I updated yesterday. IDK what this one is about.
Me too
I too have got it. Interesting..
It appears that they fixed the fingerprint and CPU lock bug along with the Smart Lock blank screen bug and the read and write speeds issues. I guess they finally did it. Next up is Pie I hope...
Here also. After yesterday an update was delivered, I am now offered a new update. The installation is now running. I noticed after yesterday's update that there were significant "memory / processing delays", which had previously not occurred on my device. The update is 203 mb, yesterday only 103.5mb were delivered.
Updated again with the 203mb . No the smart lock empty screen is not fixed. ?
¿? any change

Toke some time to install. It didn't disable CAMERA2API (installed before 9.6.14). I hope my battery gets better. Since last update battery was being drained really fast.
Which "base" version of GPlay Services do you have with october's patch? (For example, i can install an older version in august patch, like 12.6.89) is this possible in the latest update?

Here you go, you can reset the proximity with this app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiledirection.proximitysensorreset&hl=en
But the position of proximity sensor is really bad, especially for the left arm holding phone users, like my self...so, that will never be fixed of course.
@Benjamin_L What @ramir0 is saying is right. This is a bug which existed even before the phone went on sale and still not fixed.
Ok, so this update seems to be the real one with some bugs fixed, the first one (100Mb) was just security update, this one should have some fixes, but without changelog, who knows what...
EDIT:
I just did a quick Andro Bench test.
My writing speed goes up, from 174Mb to 220Mb, everything else is like before update.

January security patch is here. Discuss bugs.

Received the January security patch today. Haven't found any bugs yet.
There are no new bugs for me as well but the current one remain like the cache one. But my phone's performance has definitely improved a lot. It's finally quick now and I have not experienced any lags since 2 days.

Unreliable data connection, after the latest update my phone has been dropping data connection constantly, especially when the screen is off. It could be my ISP, but it started right after the update, before it was working fine.
When will they fix the cpu the 4 core min freq is 1401 mhz it should be 633mhz. .need to restart the phone to fix it but after some time problem shows up again
When increasing or decreasing the volume sound, the window doesn't disappear automatically till I touch other part of the screen
Front flash not working
Emmc not fixed
Headphone volume not fixed
And some users facing bootloop after updating
So looks like the update is pretty good ?
---------- Post added at 12:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:49 PM ----------

Notifications suddenly going mute and doesn't work untill I restart the device. The ringer is not affected though. I have seen this bug right after attending a call, sometimes with bluetooth headset paired . ( Don't know if that's causing it, but everytime I encountered this was after a call.) It used to even happen earlier at times... Does anybody has a fix for this? Anybody esle experience this? Thanks in advance!

Do they really not test the update before releasing it?? This was very sloppy and unprofessional and I can't believe an Android One phone experienced something like this, since it's backed by "Google" and whatnot.
No wonder many of the bugs are still unfixed, this feels like the development team is probably made up of one or two developers who have 13 other projects in parallel.
Shame.

Some Questions After A Week Of Use!

I recently moved to the 6T from a 3XL because of several hardware issues with that device. So far this device has been a beast. After spending about a week with it, I have a few questions I'm hoping some of you can answer for me!
1. I noticed the lock screen reverts night light if enabled, so the fingerprint scanner can work efficiently. Just wondering if there is any way night light can remain on during the lock screen/fingerprint scan? Or is this impossible because will it impact success rate of fingerprint unlocks?
2. Because of the lack of fingerprint scanner on custom ROMs, I've decided to stay on OOS. This is a long shot but is there any way Substratum overlays can be shown without having to reboot? It's a bit of a hassle to build and update overlays, reboot, apply them, and reboot for full changes to take effect.
3. I don't know if this one is by design, but I noticed my display will wake during calls - if the lift to wake display option is enabled. Anyone else have this issue and know of a fix (other than disabling lift to wake)?
4. My notification bar is tough to pull down while I'm in a call. The only way to get it down is if I drag my finger almost all the way down the screen. Is this also by design?
5. Another call-related issue - sometimes people will tell me they can hear their own voice during a call. Has anyone else experienced this?
6. I'm in Canada with Fido, and OnePlus ensured me VoLTE and VoWiFi will both be an option for me since the device is "globally unified". I'm not seeing any VoLTE icon during calls. I've tried the dialer key combo and enabling VoLTE there, as well as the VoEnabler Magisk Module. Neither of those seem to result in a VoLTE icon. Could anyone confirm if it's just not possible with Fido in Canada, or maybe another solution is out there?
7. This one seems a bit more widespread - some apps using the wrong mic during audio/video records. I've only experienced this in making a video in WhatsApp so far, and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a fix? Or do we just need to wait for OnePlus to come out with an update? Or, do the apps themselves need to be updated to better work with the 6T?
I apologize for so many questions, but if any of you could even answer some, if not all of these questions, I would greatly appreciate it! And I also apologize if some of these questions have already been addressed in previous threads.
Interesting post... Will subscribe because I have experienced some of the issues mentioned. I am also on my first week of use.

1. I'm pretty sure this is by design and it's supposed to be that way. When there were early builds of Havoc for the 6T, some users got FP to work on an all white background with the brightness all the way up. So I'm assuming it's so it can read your fingerprint.
2. Sadly, not that I know of. Swift Installer is the same way. Apply overlays, reboot, reboot again to finish themeing.
3. Due to the notch being a teardrop design, there's little space to pack every sensor into the notch. Happens to me all the time when on a call. I'm pretty sure it's because of the proximity sensor. Once you move the phone from your face just a tad, the screen kicks on. No fix that I know of, yet.
4. Again, proximity sensor I'm assuming. Haven't really tested this too extensively mainly because if I have to use my phone for anything while in a call, I'll put it on speakerphone and use it.
5. I haven't heard anything from the other person. However, I do sometimes hear myself like an echo when talking to someone.
6. I have the T-Mobile variant of the device and immediately switched to International firmware as soon as I got the device, can't remember if it showed those icons or not when I was running the T-Mobile branded software, I do have VoLTE and VoWiFi icons on International firmware.
7. Haven't had this issue since I don't use WhatsApp. I do not seem to have the problem when making calls via Facebook Messenger. It's a known problem since the 6 and OnePlus knows about it, they just haven't issued a fix yet. Sorry I can't be more help with this.

I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to all my questions! Very kind of you.
As for the VoLTE stuff, maybe I'll continue to do more digging since you say you're seeing the icon but I'm not. That tells me VoLTE is not properly enabled on my device (I assume). Thanks again, much appreciated :highfive:
I can't find it, but there are several threads on enabling VoLTE & VoWIFI.
One involves entering the hidden menu, via *#808#, then toggling the appropriate settings.
That's what I did (USA version). I was on the 9.07 firmware, which didn't support it, but VoLTE
popped up and started working, when the 9.11 version hit.

You are very welcome. You may want to try using the MSM Tool found here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/t-mobile-6t-to-international-t3888307
That's should fix some problems you may be having, especially the VoLTE and VoWiFi issues. I know you're not using the T-Mobile version of the phone, so I'm not sure if this will help you much or not, but a MSM Tool that's meant for your device should work.
OP, I have enabled volte on op6t on Rogers. Fido should work, too. It seems nobody enables WiFi calling on op6t in Canada.

Mine is TMobile version but I converted it to OOS using this tool: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/t-mobile-6t-to-international-t3888307 in case you're interested.
I've read about that but after rooting/custom ROMing just about every Android device I've ever had (up to the ZTE Blade V8 Pro, anyway), I just don't have the inclination to do it with this phone. Everything works and VoLTE is enabled by default, so I'm fine with that.
I've tried to enable as much as I could (full port switch, VoLTE provisioning, enabled in settings) and still don't see the icon.
Very strange and at this point I'm almost prepared to just accept I won't see that icon lol

I hear ya! I quit rooting since I got the Essential phone. Android stock rom now a days much better so I don't need root either. I just converted this phone so I can use the dual SIM cards and faster updates rather than waiting for TMO.
After making some videos via WhatsApp and Snapchat, my question #7 is starting to become a bigger issue than enabling VoLTE/WiFi
It's very obvious the wrong mic is being used during video records because the audio just sounds terrible.
Seems like a widespread issue since there are many articles about it. Is there any known fix out there for us rooted users?

new pie update 47.2.A.8.24

with February security patch.
new fix bugs?
What's changed, i don't know. Can someone explain?

Seems nothing new
Apps can now deleted from menu (earlier - only via draggin on home screen and then delete)
camera still works without drm keys?
sure
hello, how about battery drain after the latest update? I just saw a video recommending to do not update to Pie, because many features of Oreo and Nougat are gone and functions are limited, and a battery life is reduced. the review was made few months ago, though. are there any major changes with following updates? do you recommend to update? thank you.
Hi, what do you all think of the new Pie update?
What happens if, for once, there is a system update notification, it is being ignored and nothing done?
My first smartphone being HTC, then switching to Samsung twice, i don't recall getting system update notifications every now & then from the mentioned brands.
yesterday I have updated to this version via OTA.
today I notice GPS does not work (tested with Maps and GPS test).
does anyone have experienced this issue?
Not going to update my XZ1 to Pie. It seems Google has disabled third party call recording apps such as ACR within Pie. This functionality is very important to me in my work. So unless I'm going to root my phone in order to get around this I can't use call recording app. This is a major to me and many many others.

I got four darker spots on camera - two are darker and two are barely noticeable. At first I thought it was a hardware issue (dirty lens or faulty sensor), but I found, that this happened to some of the different Xperia phone users before after a software update. Can anyone else confirm that?
Just updated. GPS and camera are fine and everything seems really quick. Or maybe that's because I just rebooted and I don't do that so often
I can't use my device anymore, it's laggy as hell and so bad, that no one wants to buy it for even 150€
