Anyone Else Keep Swapping SIMs Between The 6T and Other Devices? - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Currently my rooted 6T has been playing backup to my un-rooted T-Mobile Note 9 (on Oreo) but I keep feeling tempted to go back to the 6T as my daily. Then after a couple of weeks I start to miss the Note 9. I use a Bamboo Tip on the 6T so the S-Pen envy stays at a minimum when using the 6T but then small things like Samsug's calendar app (that I can't get to work on the 6T), the Note 9's brighter display at its halfway brightness setting, WIRELESS CHARGING and the purpose-built stereo speakers (although the 6T's single speaker is quite loud).
Those are just things I'm actually struggling to define but when I'm one device I'm missing the other and visa versa. Is anyone else crazy like me with this topic? Maybe I just have commitment issues. Shut up! You're not my ex wife! Jokes aside, I keep switching back and forth between my 6T and Note 9. Is anyone else doing this with other devices? How do you deal with the itch to keep swapping phones? Thanks for sharing!

I switch almost weekly to my Pixel 3 XL. There are things I like about both phones.

Well I made a complete switch today from the note 9 running pie to the 6t yeah I miss the brighter screen and the screen being a bit bigger horizontally but that is about it, I love how has this thing is a bit faster than my pixel 2 xl running pie.
Let see how the battery holds

Ok...maybe I'm worse and a bit of an idiot but....I'm currently paying on and dont laugh when I say this but s8+,x2 lg g6(one for the wife),s7 edge, note 8 and one plus 6t
right now the note 8 one ui pie beta
and one plus 6t is what I'm going back and forth with
but I'm currently running note 8 as the whole system is dark mode out without customization apps but then I'll start to think about my oneplus which is by far the most stable phone without lag i have ever used so yeah it's a toss up

I'm the same I have a S9 and the 6T that I switch between I mostly use the 6T but about once a month I switch to the S9 for a couple of days then back to the 6T. My biggest issue with the S9 is it seems small to me because I have big hands and the 6T feels just right. I like the S9 features but like I said the size bothers me which I should have gotten the S9+ which would have fit my hands better and maybe I would stay with that one since I like the S9 features.

No AOD means no OP6t for me (I'd have one otherwise£ but I do switch between note 9, 3 XL and xs max. I hate it but I guess that means not one of them tick all the boxes.
Xs max to use the apple watch
3 XL for camera and vanilla android zippyness
Note for all round and extra storage (over pixel)
Or maybe I just need help!

I have and on McLaren model stock, and they do have a magisk module for it on the regular 6t

I use the 6T then switch back to my iPhone 6s when the 6T does something that irks me. Today I pulled the SIM because I get sick of my cheek selecting the drop down and clicking icons. The proximity sensor works fine when I test it but for some reason my cheek will do crazy stuff. Time before last my cheek dragged the notification shade down and selected airplane mode and disconnected me from my call.
This silly stuff just does not happen on my iPhone.

Why not just root and switch roms? That's what I do when I get bored of the phone

I hop between my 6T modded and my S9+ Modded. Why? Front mounted stereo speakers are so much better for gaming. Performance is identical and sadly, even without root on my S9+, I've achieved nearly the same amount of necessary customization. I came back to OnePlus for the freedom and dev-friendliness but that seems to not be a thing anymore.

Well I'm just glad I'm not the only one, and here I was thinking I had a real problem, almost started drinking full time to cope. I have the note 8 and 6t. I got the 6t day one from tmo, one of 2 in the area from what I was told and have used it for a total of about 1 month. I use my note 8 for work as there is no better work phone and on the weekends I was using the 6t until I wanted to use it longer so start using it after work on the way home while driving but needed more of it so in the morning to work as well. After a week I said I wanted to save the battery and could just use the note as it does everything, so back in the box went the 6t for about another week or 2. Then I told myself I was just going to use it for Christmas for pictures and then put it away until my birthday in April. Well I ended up using both for pictures for about 2 weeks until I rooted the 6t with McLaren edition. Did that for about another 2 weeks and went back to the stock rom while still placing it back and forth in the box for a day or 2. Keep in mind I'm starting to think I'm going crazy and I really mean it. I had a 6s plus in the mix but sold it on Christmas and I thought that would help, it didn't. It's now been 2 weeks and I just today, I swear to all of you, I have been using the note 8 for the past 2 weeks and this morning i placed my 6t in my backpack thinking I would use it for the ride home but have yet to turn it on because I really want to make it until my Birthday. I'm so glad I'm not the only one like this, I really mean it. Thank you for this post.

Kills battery I think though. Samsung, Google and LG have shown that a native AOD can work without too big a battery hit, LG even managed it on an LCD!

I swap between the one plus 6t and the Razer phone 2. Used to swap between OnePlus 6t and pixel XL 2 but found someone who wanted to trade my pixel xl 2 for the newest Razer phone and I couldn't pass up that $400 savings deal as I paid $300 for my pixel XL 2 and the Razer phone 2 retails at $699. Love having a fast flagship in OnePlus 6t and a media/gaming giant in the Razer phone 2 with 8 Gb Ram and a 120 hz refresh rate!

I had a s7edge and note 8 never used it on those devices bc it drained battery bad. But on this device I don't see much or little drain. Battery is relatively great for me on stock kernel

Sorry if I have misunderstood but are saying that the McLaren has an AOD out of the box!

yeah , me , i use oneplus 6t one day iphone xs max one day , i like the speakers from iphone ,
if i got a service day i will pick up oneplus 6t because i do tweaks install apps from black market and hacks ,
if a got a heavy day i will get the iphone xs max ,is the just do it phone for me ,
love the apple pay and speakers and the display, the brightness for my iphone stays at 30 procent,
with oneplus 6t i need to boost the brightness up to 75-80 procent to be easy redable and no , is not because the screen protector
is just the way oneplus tweaked ,
also what i like is how easy to use is the device , the fact that i got the flashlight in the lockscreen for iphone and
the first page on the left on iphone is imposible to reproduct on another devices
for me the first pick is iPhone XS max and 2nd pick is oneplus 6t
I can controll everything with my iphone xs LIFX light bulbs ,sockets on off ,and all of them they are there on first page
if you try to add the widget on oneplus first page witch they name it shelf ,they don't fit they are oversize or
the shelf did not show all the info , so for me android is not so polished seems to be unfinished , is not made to be compatible
thanks for reading and sorry for so much explanation

Yes, it's called ambient display though in settings. the regular 6ts do not as far as I know. But the aid is in their system regardless, they just don't have it available in their settings
Hence the magisk module for it to be used on their devices

Oneplus 6t from pixel 2 xl

Hi I'm looking to change my pixel 2 xl cause of performance issues alot of lag and delay
I was thinking of Mate Pro 20 but I changed my mind after reading honest review on XDA-Developers
Is it better choice to get one plus 6t instead
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I got a 2xl and waiting for my 6t, which will be delivered tomorrow. Considered the pixel 3 but it's just a rerocked 2
I'm coming from a pixel 2xl. I was looking for something new because i started to feel apps were closing out too fast and reloading too often.
I started adding more apps. Mostly security camera and home automation apps. I wanted to see if having more RAM would help. I didn't even have any interest in the pixel 3 since they didn't upgrade the RAM
So far I've been pleased. Apps stay open longer but it seems it takes awhile for the phone to know which apps you use the most.
Battery life has been noticeably better but not by much
In screen fingerprint scanner isn't as fast as the pixel but the face unlock on the op6t is blazing.
I miss AOD and I'm surprised how often i use the squeeze for Google Assistant.
OnePlus gestures blows away both of Android navigation options. I'm happy to have the extra screen space.
Surprised how well the OnePlus screen compares to the pixel. There are more color options to adjust for your liking and the OnePlus seems to get a tad brighter. The pixel looks sharper on higher res content but barely and only if you stare.
OnePlus camera is okay. I'm not a huge picture person so the OnePlus is passable for me.
Pixel feels lighter and is easier to hold. Less fingerprints because of the material on the back of the pixel.
Right now I've factory reset the pixel to see if i can recover the performance. I bet it will be smooth again.
Hope this helps

I have Pixel 2 as well and will be getting OP 6T in couple of days... 6T seems to be a upgrade almost all cases except Camera.. well we have Gcam port for that
Coming from the pixel 2xl. The 3xls notch is disgusting compared with the price of the 3xl brining not a whole lot of new things make the 3xl a definite pass. It's unfortunate that this was the fastest phone I've ever had but in a year I've reset it 4 times due to extreme lagging and slowdown recently. Battery life dropped by almost half as well. The only redeeming quality is the camera but I am willing to give that up for the time being.

Yes. It's just a repost of the one from the 6 subforum.
Functionality is the same on the 6. Same things work, and same things don't work.
We can only use the 6.1 mods. Older 5.x versions won't connect to the camera on our phones.

Anyone coming from 6T?

I would swap my 6t with an s10+ when the price will fall (perhaps with note 10 unveiling).
Though I am curious to see if someone went from the 6t to s10+, if he or she regrets or is happy by doing it.
Also is the camera much better? The 2x optical zoom are good?

Im happy with the decision!
Even tho, the Oxygen os is smother than the One UI but there are many different launchers for you to choose!,
Well, I switched from OP6 not T... Main issue with S10+ that I have is that the action bar (or whatever that thing at the top is) and the notification pull down menu thing seems so blown out of scale compared to OP6... I mean it is huge. I really wish there would be another option for making text and icons even smaller one step.
Another thing I noticed is that OP6 had better white colour of the display (S10+ seems a bit yellowish). At least to my taste... display adjustment sliders actually do something compared to S10+ (I imagine that is the same for any Samsung FW).
Another thing is screen real-estate. They are about so so, especially because of that stupid selfie cam positioned so far away from the top edge on S10+ which takes the advantage of screen to body ratio away from S10+ as it makes action bar really thick... I mean really thick. If you open youtube app you will see this humongous gray bar at the top which to me is very ugly. I get it they had to make something unique to Samsung design so that they actually get told apart from other brands. But still.. damn they could have just placed the cams in the top right corner and call it a day.
Navigation gestures instead of navigation bar are also more intuitive to use on OP, especially one handed since you have to reach the far corner to swipe up and open recent apps pm S10+ while on OP just just drag further up from the middle.
USB C port is better on my S10+ compared to OP6 though.... OP6 you can wiggle plugged in cable in it which drives me crazy. Curved screen is also annoying because you will be palm pressing stuff you didn't want to every time you will reach on the other side one handed. I have a case that is quite deep to fix that.
I can't say yet on the battery.
Signal wise they are so so, with OP6 having a slightly better WiFi reception. I'm talking like one side of the bead vs both sides of the bead.
On the other hand having all those optional samsung apps like music, calendar, on S10 is a real plus. I really did not like the way OP didn't include their own. App wise Samsung has nice little features OP doesn't like when a contact that you saved with company name as well calls you, that is displayed.
Oh and Samsung is whoring for icon pack and themes microtransactions, they won't let you do it anyway other than through their theme app. Quite annoying. Yeah you get custom launchers... But stock is good enough for me, I can't be bothered to get something custom and then fine tune it additionally. Also, hardware buttons are so badly placed it hurts my feelings.
I would say... skip S10+ and wait for S11+ or something that will have 5G as well. IMO it is not worth it. Hopefully they wizen up regarding selfie cam on next gen as well. I imagine their CPU will be more mature at that point as well.
Unless you get the thing for a bargain (that is why I have it) and turn a profit after the switch.
Why not swap for next months OnePlus 7 or 7 pro?
Went from 6T to S10+ last week and I'm happy with the phone. You absolutely need to wait until you get the biometric update though because before that, wow, the fingerprint scanner is garbage.
What I like : Screen cutout is fine and the display is beautiful, fast wireless charging is far more convenient than I imagined, One UI is good but not as snappy as the 6T, headphone jack is also really nice to have and I was concerned about the curved display but it's not nearly as bad as the Note 9 that I had for a few weeks. It's still easy to accidentally "palm touch" the screen but it's manageable. Bixby button, well, I remapped it to camera for now and I'll use that 3rd party app to change it to the assistant so it's okay but no button would be better.
What I miss : Hardware selector for ring/vibrate/mute, having the status bar icons all the way to the right, not closer to the middle, and as someone else mentioned, notifications seem way too big on One UI. It's a huge 6.4 inch display for 4 notifications and you are running out of screen space. I have a feeling Android Q will make notifications even better.
Better wait for OP7 unveiling then, if OP finally chooses a good camera setup then I will stay in OP territory.
What about custom roms? Is it a pain like on 6t because of encryption and dual slots?
I have both the unlocked OnePlus 6t and the T-Mobile version. I bought the S10 Plus knowing I would not be able to root it and thought I was going to hate it. Well both of my 6t's are sitting on my desk unused since I bought the S10 Plus.
The S10 Plus has so many options I have not missed root once (or some of the headaches that come with it...Google Pay not working because Google updates something that breaks Magisk hide). This is coming from someone who has rooted every phone I've had since the OG Droid. With the S10 Plus you can use themes (I just use dark mode) ad block system wide with Adhell3, hide notification bar icons and so much more.
Camera on the S10 Plus is so much better than the OnePlus 6t. Before I bought my first OnePlus 6t I had the Pixel 3 XL and I would switch between the two because of the camera. I ended up selling the Pixel 3 XL because of the battery life.
The hole punch did bug me at first with the icons being pushed towards the center but after a few days I didn't notice it anymore.
The gestures on the OnePlus 6t are hands down the best on any Android phone but with a guide on her I switched the stock S10 Plus gestures for ones that are pretty close to the OnePlus 6t.
Battery on the S10 Plus I'm getting between 9 to 12 hours of screen on time, which is better than the OnePlus 6t.
If someone asked me to trade a S10 Plus for my OnePlus 6t before I used the S10 Plus I would have laughed at them. Now if I was asked I wouldn't think twice.
I do miss the physical silent slider from the OnePlus 6t but I honestly think that's all I miss.
Don't get me wrong, I love the OnePlus 6t and will be buying the 7 or 7t, but the S10 Plus is just a hands down better phone.
I had the 8/256g version of the 6T. TBH I really loved the stock android experience vs the S10+ samsung One UI. A side note, I bought the Hong Kong version of the S10+ with the SD855 (I didnt want the Exynos version sold where I live in Australia)
For me, here are the Pos + and Negs -
S10+
=Equal battery life (6hrs SOT on both)
+Better screen
+Better camera (way better!)
+Headphone Jack
+Waterproofing
+Ultra Fast
+Build quality
+dual sim (or Sim + SD card)
-updates still need to come faster
+speaker quality is excellent
OnePlus 6T
=Equal battery life (6hrs SOT on both)
-No waterproofing (splash proof only)
-No memory expansion
-Camera (good quality, but dont do panoramic photos)
=QHD screen (its awesome quality though and great for gaming - no touch lag)
+One of the fastest SD845 phones
+dual SIM
-No Headphone Jack
+Excellent cases (The Karbon bumper by Evutec is awesome!)
+fast Android updates (faster than almost Google)
I was going to wait for the OP7, but the pop up camera errked me a lot. I'm really glad I went S10+. It was definitely an upwards step, not sideways - but in saying that, the 6T is very much a complete phone (except for the panaromic photos)
Btw is the exynos camera that bad compared to snapdragon?
I hope samsung will drop prices of s10+ when note 10 will be annouced, the 970$ price here is way too much
I do.... The biggest upgrade for me is camera..its a way better than 6t. I miss oxygen OS cleanliness and neat. I also miss 6t optical FP, i dont know but it seems faster on 6t...and what i really miss is MOD for 6t and flexibility of rooting and modding.

So the cpu can't handle photo processing at full potential, this is strange given exynos is perhaps not as good as 855 but certainly capable of complex image processing. I am not a big fan of super wide photos with a smartphone, so how's the difference with the normal lens and 2x optical zoom?
I came from the 6T to an S10+ and went back to the store yesterday to exchange the phone to a pixel 3. Couldn't get past the fingerprint sensor issues, duplicated apps including an app store, and Android auto didn't work as well in my civic as with my pixel 2 or 6T. Not sure why
How would you guys compare it to the pixel 3
On edge whether I should sell my pixel 3 and get a S10+
Is the camera (point and shoot) better than the pixel 3

I exchanged my S10+ for a P3XL because the fingerprint sensor, even with the update and the screen protector off doesn't work well at all. I have very dry hands, maybe that's why but for me it was bad. The 6T had no problems.
As to the UI, I actually like it. We can cry about updates all day but stock One UI has more features than Stock Android and some of them are really nice. Having a video on the lockscreen for example, themes, the animations, lots of very nice things about One UI but something that you can't get away from is duplicate apps. Samsung backup, android backup. Samsung play store, android play store, etc.
When you look at the phone's hardware, the S10 is so much nicer and the cutout, even the double one, is nicer than a notch. Using the phone though, for me, is much nicer on 6T and Pixel.

How does the camera fare?
I came from the 6t and the only thing I miss is viper4android. Dolby sound is a step up from previous Samsung phones, but I still get better sound with viper on a rooted phone. I will have to say that Dolby is pretty good and it will have to do becAuse the snapdragon will never get root ?

worth it?

OK considering getting a op6t later this week.

Currently I've a HTC u11 weird choice I know but the screen is mint.
With the lower res on the oneplus would you buy again after owning one?

Best phone I've owned.
I like the fact that it is dual SIM and works on Verizon.
OnePlus 7 is right around the corner. I'd wait for that if I were you.

I just got this phone and it's the best phones I've had. I've only had all Galaxies but even with Ron's on my galaxy this phone is soooooo buttery smooth and very fast. It's basically everything I'd try to get my Samsung to be. This is a great choice but the OnePlus 7 is coming out soon so it's up to you.

Okay, so, after going through many brands and various experiences these are my 2 cents on the 6T: :fingers-crossed:
Camera is very good, but there are better options if you're purely focusing on photography
The performance is absolutely magnificent. Dominates the charts.
The UI experience is one of the best. OxygenOS not only instigates a fully seamless and stock experience, it offers a wide range of personalization options and really helps the user experience.
It is a stable OS, updated consistently and unlikely to experience unprecedented hard resets and bootloops.
Connectivity is brilliant, apart from the Bluetooth. I have been having some trouble with the automatic connection to eg wireless headsets and the instance of remaining connected or switching between audio sources, also had some issues with connecting to other devices.
Screen is great, yet I feel they could've done better with the resolution, than just 1080p.
Other features like the notch and the fingerprint sensor are huge pluses and good conversation starters, as they not only make the device an actual beauty but are recent innovations.
The build quality is great. Sturdy, durable, slick.
Lack of a headphone jack is a bit asinine, but does not in anyway overweight the advantages. Would still like to see a jack on the upcoming 7.
Great price. Value for money.
The lack of a stereo speaker and poor placement not only makes it easier for one to cover it up accidentally but also makes for an okay audio experience, which is unsatisfactory by my standards.
I love my 6T, but would sell it in a minute and buy a 7, if the 7 brings back a notification LED.
I got the OP6T McLaren edition in January and it has been a fun device. I agree with everything others said above.
For lack of notification LED light, there are a few apps you can use that work very well. And for the lack of stereo speakers, there is a magisk module that turns the earpiece into a second speaker which works well. :good:
I bought one because it seemed like the best value locally. My wife bought at the same time one of those $1400 apple doo hicky things after playing with my phone for 37 minutes she made me return her fancy designed in California apple and buy her a one plus 6t.
Well I got it. Brilliant phone

I love my 6T, but would sell it in a minute and buy a 7, if the 7 brings back a notification LED.

Lol anything that has been removed during the span of 6 and 6T will not ever return. Led is going away in almost every smartphone coming out this year even Samsung removed it in the s10 and it's all to make more screen and OnePlus will follow that trend just like with the notch...... And they're definitely not bringing back headphone jack.... Both 7 and 7 pro are going to be using an optical in display demerit similar to the one used in the 6T... Maybe the pro will have something better since it's the pro though (ultrasonic?) Maybe but I don't think so.....
This is the first device in a long time I'm not overly bothered about rooting. Very odd

Exactly. Everyone says to root it an get more, but in reality, unless you use a lot of magsik moduels then there is no reason to. Only thing g I did was turn my TMobile variant into an international one.
I only use root to block ads but there are solutions for that these days. Root is also use full to get rid of gapps.

I switched mine to international. Rooted with magisk to block ads, enable dual speaker, also used swift installer to completely black out everything so I conserve battery. Viper 4 android. Installed TWRP as well. I agree though I was very impressed with everything stock. I've always had Samsung phones and this was everything I'd try to get my Samsung to be.

Weirdly I did root but literally for the kernel. I'll not be changing the ROM..probably ever on this. Oxygen is sweet

OnePlus 5 over Pixel XL

Hello folks,
Until now, I was using Pixel XL 128GB. I was very happy with it. Last week, while traveling, I forgot the charger and wife decided to plug the phone for charging in the hotel charger. The cable got VERY hot and started smoking. I pulled the cable out but it messed up charging. The phone works flawlessly but doesn't charge anymore. So I am in the market again. I am looking for a device below $200 mark.
Always wanted to own OnePlus phone so looking at a pre-owned OnePlus 5. Few questions abt that
- Is there enough support for this device with regards to the ROMs for another year or so, at least?
- Hows the phone camera quality? I plan to use camera mod (https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-suggested/) if compatible
- How easy is battery replacement?
- Most important, now that you have used OnePlus 5 for some time, if you have experienced Pixel devices, would you recommend OnePlus 5 over Pixel XL? (I am trying to stay away from Pixel XL because Android 10 messed up bootloader unlocking of Verizon devices, which are mostly available as pre-owned.)
Thanks in advance.
I owned the OnePlus 5 for 2 years until I drowned it in the ocean back in March. I replaced it with a used Pixel XL 128gb which I'm still using. I'm now waiting for a used OnePlus 5 I ordered on eBay and I'm selling the pixel. Main reason being I want dual sims again so I don't have to carry a second work phone around while working.
I like both phones, each has pros and cons. I stopped rooting with the OnePlus so I haven't rooted either. Both have great software. The ergonomics are better on the OnePlus. It's thinner, more rounded and comfortable to hold, button placement is perfect (awkward on the pixel), and the alert slider switch is amazing to have.
Camera is better on the pixel but it's not far behind on the OnePlus. I never complained about it when I used it. The OnePlus would always keep every app loaded in memory (8gb ram) whereas the pixel has to reload often. Battery life and charging was better on the OnePlus. 6.5 hour screen on time vs around 5 on the pixel.
Those are my comparisons off the top of my head. Any specific questions just ask me.
I have been using my replacement OnePlus 5 for a week now and so far it's exactly the same as my original one that got water damaged. Battery life is about 1.5-2.5 hours more screen on time compared to the pixel and accubattery says it has 90% battery health (used eBay phone that seems very well cared for) and the pixel XL has 95% battery health (was also a used eBay phone but seemed like it hasn't been used in a long time).
Speaker is better on the OnePlus, as is the headphone jack.. auto rotate and auto brightness are much better on the OnePlus. Smoothness is better on the pixel but loading is faster on the OnePlus and it keeps stuff in memory for a long time.
There is also no screen burn in on either this OnePlus or my old one after 2 years but the pixel was starting to show a bit at the bottom.

Thinking of coming to the OnePlus family. Need some thoughts.

Ok so ive always been a Nexus/Pixel guy, Had the Galaxy Nexus Nexus 5 Nexus 6P and Pixel 2 XL (current phone)
Mainly for fast updates
Always get new "Google" features first
Easy Root / Substratum
Buuuuuuut the Pixel 3, 3a Especially the 4, 4A were all a huge MEH and the 5 looks to be the biggest MEH ever.
So ive been looking at the OnePlus 8 Pro looking through the forums it reminds me of the Nexus days with ROMS and Kernals MODs etc.
A few questions though before i pull the trigger (still trying to come to grips with a $900 price tag for a OnePlus)
Ill probably try to use the phone without rooting but most likely end up rooting.
1. Netflix L1/L3 Widevine. Can someone give me a definitive answer as to if we can get HD with unlocked bootloaders. I am getting conflicting info going though the forum. Some posts say NO. Some say they got it working through certain root methods.. Some say they have it working running certain custom roms or custom kernals or Magisk moduals such as XXX No Limits. And them some say that after a certain OP official update that it now works.

2. Notification Light
All my Nexi/Pixels had a notification light and i used Light Manager to make them flash different colors and speeds depending on the app etc.
I know that the OP8 and most phones now a days dont have the light. But i see things like AODNotify do these apps work well? I dont really like AOD and always had it turned off on the pixel.
Any info is appreciated.
I sold my pixel 4xl for the OnePlus 8 Pro. Honestly, I regret it.
Even with gcam the camera doesn't come close. 8 should have waited for the pixel 5 ? I feel like the pixel phones are very simplistic, bit you get a very solid experience with them. I can't stand the curved edges of the op8pro and the camera is worse that what I had before, which kills me. If someone makes a pixel experience ROM I'll be happy but even then I won't be able to install my banks app due to root. The grass isn't always greener, friend.

Yeah the P4XL to me was a step backward. I NEED a finger print reader. Faceunlock is dumb. SOLI or w/e it was called was a huge let down. And it was really the only "new" feature of the phone.
I would normally get a Pixel 5 but sorry a Snapdragon 765G really? And it will still cost probably $800+
I ditched the 3XL for the 8Pro before the payoff date and I don't have regrets. Yeah, the camera was nice but I had other reasons.
I see PE has built a ROM for the Nord but not the 8/8Pro, maybe one is coming......

Oh. The curved edge was weird at first but I've adapted....

I had exactly the same thoughts like you, but I came from the Pixel 1.
I didn't regret it one second going to Oneplus 8 Pro!
The updates are quick and much more easy to flash then I used to. Indeed, the phone is larger, but I knew that when I bought it.
First I thought root wasn't necessary but I ended up rooting and, again, it's much easier to do then with the Pixel.
I don't use netflix L1/L3 widevine but there's a thread about it somewhere on this forum
Notification light: there are moreapps but I use aodNotify and it works like a charm. (I have 3% battery consumption over the night, several colors eso) But: that's my experience.
Conclusion: for me it was and still is a go.
I hope it helps you with your decision.
Have already given my thoughts about moving to OnePlus from any other phone from the past or even currently available.
In short, it's a resounding yes.
Nice im sooooooo close to pulling the trigger.
It looks like according to what i can find. That as of update 10.5.10 (i think it was) that with a unlocked bootloader and proper Magisk Hide that you can get L1. And that was my biggest concern.
Sure the camera isnt as good but i dont think i use it enough (or enough where i would really look at the quality of a pic) to worry THAT much. I mainly use it to send a pic via MMS or RCS when i see something interesting at the store and send it to a friend or family member lol.
And i think a Snapdragon 865 and a larger 120hz 1440p display and super fast storage/RAM will suit me better then not those things but a good camera (Pixel 5)
This badboy OnePlus 8 Pro is the sweetest ride... especially on XDA!
I have pulled the trigger and am looking forward to it.
I bought the IN2020 version and was wondering if I'll be missing anything that the global IN2023 has?
Any thoughts?

You should be concerned about this if you need bank apps etc .

Root is always on the chopping block. The only thing i really use root for on my Pixel 2 XL anymore is to use Substratum
The op8T/Tpro is so close to coming out is it not worth waiting for that?
