Stock pie + magisk = best sot and zero bugs. Gcam works perfect setting the resolution to 9mpx.
At present pixel experience pie is good

Bugs were on stock december pie, now everythings fine. 7 hours sot and it's really smooth. Magisk, Dolby Atmos, viper4android, gcam patch, YouTube, etc works perfect. Give it a try.
Is there a chance xposed edge will be available for pie? I bought the pro version and can't imagine to use a phone without that fantastic app.

there are still bugs in stock, xiaomi never was able to fix all issue in a single update, this since upgrade from 7 to 8 and from 8 to 8.1, xiaomi always need at least 2-3 months of patches, lol

1. Flash the Dolby unity light zip for magisk
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/mm-p-dolby-digital-plus-arise-20181115-t3868192
2. Reboot
3. Download and install viper4android 3.3 from magisk repo
4. Reboot
5. Download and install audio modification library from magisk repo
6. Reboot
About gcam patch, it's the zip from magisk made by nhappymann for gcam on a1 pie.
Español:
El parche gcam es para activar las librerías que usan los pixel y usar su cámara. La diferencia es tremenda. Me escribes por mensaje si necesitas ayuda.
that means no need to stick to stock oreo for franco kernel
LOS 16 is definitibly the best rom for mi A1. I've been using it as a daily driver since August with almost no bugs and since the last build from 29/12 is simply perfect.
Liquid Remix, first custom ROM i've tried and whever I switched to other ROMs, I always came back to Liquid Remix, it is just great! Bunch of customization with awesome battery life. I manage to get 6-7 hours of sot, sometimes it goes up to 8+ hours if I really drain the battery at once.
Pixel Experience is also great, you can choose Official version, and unofficial version with some customizations included.

PixysOS is great! It is really smooth and battery life is fantastic! I got 7-8 hours of SoT. PixysOS also supports OTA updates. And it hasn't got any bugs.

The best rom that you know guys? For now i'm using aicp 12.1 but i have some problem with the notification, so i wanna know the best rom with good battery life no led bug!
I had the last hraffninns RR build (5.8.4) (security patch from last August) .than is tested acip by unterwelt (Gruß am dich!) and RR 5.8.5 (unterwelt continued hraffninns build). Now I'm on Lineage 14.1 (Nosgoth is back).
Sometimes I moved back to miui (original).
RR 5.8.4 had the best SoT (about 7-8h) only miui is little better.
5.8.5 got less SoT but updated security patches.
Lineage 14.1 : always popping up notifications > app xy crashed (but it didn't actually, only that notification shows up about 5x per day).
Last week I downloaded Android one from 4pda, but didn't test it. I think I'll try the latest miui port.
If the SoT will be same like before, I would be happy.
Overall I liked haraffins RR 5.8.4 most.
I didnt check if LED worked on each build. I think so, I didn't have any problem so far, at least no major thing.
Beste Grüße or best regards.

Hello everyone, i am new to the scene of the Mi A1, i bought the phone about 1 month ago and have been observing the forums, but i would like to ask some questions the community as i have not yet managed to find clear answers to the forums if someone can help me
1. If i root the phone is there a way to revert back to complete stock and get OTA's again?
2. In custom roms, can i get the stock camera working 100%?
3. Is there any custom rom that you recommend in terms of stability and battery life?
4. Are there any drawbacks to the custom rom scene?
5. Do you recommend the stock rom with a custom kernel or a custom rom altogether?
Thank you in advance for your answers, i hope that this thread might be useful to gather some questions altogether for anyone that might have wondered the same stuff as me
Hello,
1. There is a way to update OTA with magisk, but you will need you use magisk just as systemless, without touching system stuff. Alternative you can have root and just unroot everytime you want to update the ROM or you can manually flash the update... You can try this guide... https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/root-mi-a1-oreo-8-0-disabling-ota-magisk-t3728654
2. Stock camera works in custom ROMs, someone did a port somewhere in this forums... https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/themes/oreo-mia1-stock-rom-camera-app-custom-t3758543
3 and 4. Most of the custom ROMs are based on the same sources, LineageOS was one of the first "stable" ROMs so most of the ROMs are based on it, inheriting all of its bugs (haven't found a critical bug). I've tested a few ROMs and the mosts I liked in terms of battery life and stability are... LineageOS and Pixel Experience, you will need to test them out for yourself.
5. If you want to experience a more "stable" feeling stick to Xiaomi development, the latest stable version is 8.0 (with rumors of 8.1 coming soon). If you want latest Android updates and features go for a 8.1 custom ROM.
In my experience you will need to try all this things on your own, until you find a place where you feel comfortable with your phone. Just read guides on how to recover your phone from a bootloop and you are good to go!
I will answer only question number 4 because the guy above me said everything, by the way I prefer RR.
The drawbacks I found on custom roms are 2 for me...
1) Poor signal reception compared to stock
2) Sound quality is much better in stock compared to custom... (my opinion)
I am itching to root the device but to be honest the only thing i want is android 8.1 and a better battery, other than that i am pretty much satisfied with what i have. (and this is coming from someone that changed rom every other week on previous phones) Thank you for your replies, they were informative and greatly appreciated! I just hope Xiaomi updates the phone soon because it feels kinda outdated for an android one device

Hello Guys,
Since official update doesnt seem to be happening, I wanted to know which is the best pie based custom rom for maxpro m1, which would tick below criteria
Best battery backup / SOT
GCAM support / camera 2 api enabled
Regular updates and support
No major bugs
I see there are lot of custom roms available to choose from. Need suggestion to pick the night one.
Ps. I haven't rooted my phone yet.
I had no idea which one is the best for you,
people have different way to choose best rom for him self.
So, maybe you should try it one by one :fingers-crossed:

Thanks! I have seen all these roms in the tread. What i wanted to know was the first hand experience of the people who have used it. If not all, at least few of the above mentioned roms.
i personally love Bootleggers rom......give it a try...
Well, at it's current state, Havoc OS v2.2 is the most stable Pie ROM for our phone, in my opinion. I've just recently flashed it and it's giving me very good battery backup and performance. PUBG seems to work good too (I haven't played the game in high settings as I usually play it in classic setting which works really great).
The sounds are not exactly same as stock but it just works well. The audio output is good too.
The ROM has Pixel 2 Gcam pre-installed and it works good, again. Though for some reason Pixel 3 Gcams aren't working yet in the latest build. So there's that.
There are no major bugs. The only known bugs to me as of now is the Pixel 3 gcam crashing, and the headphone issue during call (the other person can't hear you while calling using headphones).
Havoc : good & stable
1. Liquid Remix latest build (Unofficial though)
2. Havoc OS 2.2
3. Bootleggers ROM latest build.
No major bugs in either of them but Liquid Remix and Bootleggers give the best audio experience ( Almost close to stock ). These are the best stable ROMs right now in my experience. Shuffling between them for almost a month now. Customize more with Magisk modules. Cheers !!

Hi! I want to ask moto g5 32/2 variant users which ROM is better, I read that a lot of people says that pie roms are not stable but I'm currently using pe pie and it is working fine, the only problem is the gcam that keeps crashing(I'm trying to solve that).
Do you have stock ROM ? Pe oreo? And which is the best port for gcam ? I have tried a lot but all have crash problems
Should I go back to stock and enable camera2 API or stay in pe?

For Gcam are you using the apks by San1ty? Search for gcam apks that are for "potter by San1ty". And for night site to work properly one should install and configure an app called Kernal Aduitor
Go here.
EDIT... I can't post the URL here it gets blocked...just google "Moto G5 plus Gcam Kernal Aduitor san1ty "
If I recall my G5plus 2/32 was working fine with gcam san1ty for potter, on both 8.1 and 9. api2 enabled.

Hi folks, what's the most stable android 11 ROM out there for PH-1 that doesn't have any major bugs?
From what I have seen. I tried Statix OS, EvoX, and PA Ruby. Statix 4.2 has low call receiver volume, on PA Ruby latest Beta mobile data doesn't work, and on EVO X, I cannot get NFC payments to work on my ING banking app. Could anyone please recommend a ROM, that doesn't have any major issues?
LineageOS 18.1 is my daily driver, the only bugs left are that recording video has low volume and chrome crashes (but this can be fixed by flashing certain modem files, available on the ROM thread)
Everything is fast and works just fine, battery lasts a bit more than stock
I prefer the OEM one.

This was discussed in the Statix thread (I saw your post there with the same question)... The problem exists in the last two builds (July and August). There's no fix - not yet, anyway. The suggestion from the developer was not to use Magisk.
And another problem with Statix builds from June onward is the Essential Camera crash.
