my screen went blank

Hi,
Does anyone know why my screen just suddenly goes white?
It started when i heard someone called me. I looked at the screen and it was totally white. Pressing buttons didn't do anything. I tried soft + hard reset but the fone was still like that.
Has anyone got this problem before?

i haven't had the problem but it would be helpful if we knew what kind of a phone and rom you have

my fone is cingular 8525, and I have no idea what kinda rom I have. I only unlocked it with the software available here, and still haven't had time to play with other stuff yet.
oh, and i don't think the front buttons work, btw, so when i said i hard reseted it, i was wrong.

Don't you think? Now I'll have to buy some tools to open this baby up. Does anyone know where I can get the right tools?

It's always best to start at the beginning. Go HERE to a page that I created for new members that has links to EVERYTHING you may need to know about fixing your phone, flashing ROMS and Radios, etc.

I just fixed it i just fixed it ). I don't think the light sensor for the keyboard work anymore thou, but screw that, the phone works ).

HTC Hermes screen locked

Hello,
I'm kind a new to this forum but found lots of useful information so I hope you can me.
When I push the lock screen button (power button(, the screen gets locked, but there is no way to unlock it again. I tried everything, but i keep ending up with soft resetting the device because this is the only thing that helps. This also happens when I put the phone on my desk for example and when I come back I can't unlock it. The screen stays black. I already did a hard reset several times but it doesn't help. Also, the hermes won't read my sim-card. I hope someone can help me. And I apologize for my vague description of my problem. Any question i'll try to answer

It sounds like you have the fairly well documented problem of the Hermes failing to come out of sleep mode and needing to be reset.
You may get some ideas here:

Check the items A,B,C etc first and note item G as that can be a common cause of the freezing problem.

Keypad Lights wont turn off

HI all,
My hd2 has fallen yesterday, and now i have noticed the keypad lights wont turn off :-(
the device goes to stand by mode fine, screen is off, but the keypad stays on.
any ideas, what could happen? Has anyone had this problem??

I now have the same problem. Did you manage to fix it? If yes can you please let me know how did you fix it. Mine is giving the same problem and I didn't even drop it

Hard Reset

@Don001: Tried Hard Reset including flashing back stock ROM and trying every available update of Energy ROM. Didn't work . Is there any app like KeyLedControl that does the opposite....instead of keeping the lights on....switches it off instead? Mine is always on....and never switches off.
Tried to google it and someone suggested that the phone needs a bit of cleaning but...I saw the videos to disassemble....man that's hard
Any other suggestions?

I have the same problem, and mine didn't even fall.
And also hard reset it to stock rom.

i have the problem that my keypad flashes constantly since i installed a custom rom
it goes in this sequence.
* *** * *** etc.

if there is nobody who can answere our prpblem, maybe we should send it to rep?

One of the phone repairers suggested Chemical Cleaning. Not sure if it is going to fix it though...Going to give it a try. Will see how it goes

My HD2 has started to do this since yesterday too.
The keypads stay on but do very slighly dim but still on all nite, killing my battery!!
any suggestions?

[Q] Stuck on download screen (Android with shovel)

So I was trying to sync some music onto my phone and now its stuck on the android with a shovel screen and I cant get out of it. I tried resetting and its still there. When i turn it on it has the green shoveling android and it says "Downloading ... do not turn off target". Please somebody give me a step by step guide to fix this. Thanks in advance !!

You are in Download mode somehow, disconnect any cords and and hold the power button down until the Vibrant screen comes one let go and it should reboot.
If not, try pulling your battery then starting it up as normal and it should reboot.
Unless you jacked something up prior... No Odin or flashin mods? How did you try "resetting"?
This (you situation) can happen because the buttons for power and volume are directly opposed from each other, its real easy to squeeze both which can put you in download mode.
Good luck! Report back if you're back to normal, I mean the phone.

Didn't work. I tried resetting by removing the battery then placing it again. I also tried the one where you hold the volume button down and press the power button and nothing. Phone remains in download mode. Earlier today I did manage to get to the Vibrant screen but the phone seemed to have turnedd off (it had low batt). But right after it turned back onto the download screen and stood there for a while so I think the battery wasnt that low. Any other ways to pop this phone back to normal ?

I am messing with the phone as I type this, right now I actually got the Vibrant screen where it says samsung right under it. It seems to stay there for about 15 seconds then the phone reboots to the "Vibrant" screen again. Just thought i'd post it to give you guys a better idea of whats up. Sorry guys I know I sound pretty dumb but im a phone freak that just loves using phones, when it comes to the technical parts though I know nothing as you can see lol. Thanks in advance for the help !

possible boot loop
it sounds like you might be in a boot loop problem. before the problem happened were you flashing any roms? if so maybe the error may have happened there and that is why you cant get it to load up, if this is the case a fast odin flash back to stock should fix the problem for you.

also make sure you get the newest version of odin which is 1.7 i believe it is much more stable in my experiences.

Non-responding touch screen

Hi there guys
I am running sensation xl rom 5 months now. I am running custom android roms about two years now so I am not a complete noob.
As I was playing with backgrounds themes etc, just for a new feeling, I installed GO Launcher from market and few themes. I then noticed that the phone was becoming progressively unresponsive. Sometimes I had to press twice or wait and press again. At a point the phone became completely unresponsive. I thought that maybe the launcher did something bad to the rom so I did a clean install of the rom again. The rom was booted normally and when I reached the point were I needed to configure the rom by touching nothing happened.
Up until then I was thinking that there was something wrong with the flashing rom so I flashed another trustworthy NDT MIUI rom that I was using for over 8 months without any problems. However the exctly same thing happend when I reached the point to enter the pin the screen was unresponsive. I even went back to the original win mobile 6.5 rom (eek) but no luck.
The phone has never ever had a drop. It doesn't have a screen protector but it is good as new.
Any ideas?
Do you think that I have to replace the screen?

It seems that your screen is dying - what is unfortunately typical in HD2. Topic was discussed many times here on xda, look for it. It also happened to me. Replacing the screen is the solution, but first you should try HR, and try to avoid pressing right (hang up) button

i looked before posting but nothing really helped me. Do you think that it is a coincidence that problems started when i installed the GO launcher?
Also I tried HR but nothing changed

And in the case you will have to change the touchscreen, be careful. Some new and some Chinese touchscreens are not supported by Android's kernel

try pressing alternately and simultaneously the power and call button

The "pressing the power button" trick worked but then stops working and then again and so on....Temporary fix.
I went to the HTC service and they asked 164 euros to change the screen's digitizer. No-way...
