I have a T-Mobile Galaxy S8 (SM-G950U) running Android V8.0.0. Long story short, my device is unable to connect to my service provider. I tried resetting the network settings, factory reset, wiped the cache under the Volume Up + Bixby + Power function. I remember having similar issues with another device and t-mobile outright refusing to help me because it was out of warranty and flashing the modem file thus fixing the problem , but this was years ago and Odin now seems unfamiliar and I'm having trouble finding the files to flash . Any help would be appreciated, as I'm currently a broke, without a phone, and I'm still paying for them damn thing.
P.S. My phone is currently past the 1 year warranty period
Have you tried a new sim card or even someone else's just to test.

Update:
I ended up sending it to Samsung and they fixed it for free lol
Model: AT&T SGH-I337
Baseband: I3377UCUAMF3
Firmware: Stock/SHOstock
I bought a used GS4 on Swappa last week. Got it today, rooted w/ Kingo, and installed Safestrap.
I put in my old sim from my GS3 and can't get service on the stock FW or any SS-safe ROM I've flashed.
- All other radios (Bluetooth, WIFI, NFC, etc.) work with no problems.
- The SIM works on my AT&T GS3 with no problems.
Now the strange part is that the SIM is getting recognized, but is missing certain information. (See screenshot)
+ My phone # shows up and is correct
+ My IMEI is correct and matches the sticker on the back
+ Somehow, signal strength is showing up in service mode
I've attached screenshots of various service mode screens that could be of use.
Now the question is: What should I do/ how do I fix this?
Does this happen on both roms?
Honestly, I'd go get a new sim. Cheers
Yes, I've tried it on stock and 3 ROMs I've flashed.
I'll try my brothers ATT SIM when I get home today.
I'm also going to try removing Safe strap and root, then factory resetting.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
- UPDATE -
So I successfully removed Safestrap via ADB, removed root, and factory reset from stock recovery.
The no service problem still persists. I guess the only things it could be now are:
+ My SIM is somehow messed up, as xBeerdroiDx suggested.
or
+ The SIM tray needs to be replaced.
The original owner called me today and affirms that the phone completely worked before.
Does anyone know what else internally could be causing this?
- UPDATE 2 -
OK now I'm at a complete loss. I tried other working AT&T SIMs. Nothing.
Tried replacing the SIM/SD card tray. Also nothing.
I've flashed all stock MF3 and reset EVERYTHING.
I've even gone as far as enabling the service menu and doing a NV_REBUILD multiple times.
Only thing I haven't flashed is a new .PIT because of the signature checking issues with MF3.
It's weird, because I can get a signal if there is no SIM inserted. And I was able to enable data and LTE functionality at one point by messing with the service mode settings. But that was it. No calling or cellular functions.
Could it be that my /EFS partition is somehow corrupt?
I'm getting close to giving up and seeing if Geek Squad can send it in with no warranty/coverage. I don't enjoy having a $400 wifi browser.
I nucked up BIG time.
I had xxuamdk 4.2.2 i somehow* managed to upgrade from kies. now i have xxuemj8 4.3 BUT no network connection my imei has not changed at all. I tried upgrading radio via odin but no luck lots of radios didn't even worked. workking ones cannot registered on network. i tried installing other roms and no luck.
BUT something is fishy in here. when my phone says not registered on network. i tried calling myself from land line i got ring tone. but there isnt any action om my galaxy. when i turn on airplane mode i got carriers unreachable message.
*there is stupidity. i still cannot believe myself WHY I DID IT. I didn't even back up my efs.
So i don't know how to deal with it. What should i do???

Download latest stock 4.3 firmware from Sammobile and flash in PDA section of Odin.
that may fix it.

i had this happen to my cspire phone today. It wont get past activation right?? Mine would try to activate on first one and go to different carrier like verizon, 2nd one just wouldnt activate at all. It acts like the modem is wrong but the sim card app's will tell you that its fully functional as does the settings menu, its just stuck in ROAMING mode.. I went through 2 of them this morning, My 2nd would keep trying to activate and then say no sim and crash out, so odin it back to samsung official status and go claim your warranty and don't touch it again. I did both with the knox 0x1 and far as i know that doesn't hold anything against your hardware warranty. Company should approve it as long as you have their original software back on there in the locked state.

Just telling you man the carrier couldnt even fix mine with their forced data fix from their system. The phone gets screwed up and not even odin can bring it back. You can get someone to pull your modem from their rom and try to flash over but it will fail. Once its there its like it cant untake it. I returned 2 by warranty today, im done with messing with this pos phone if thats all its going to do for me. But go in the store tell them the sim card went bad, they will piddle with it and try another card and it will do same crap, then they will finally break down and offer u a warranty phone. Mine were FREE!! You said you cant be away from the phone for more than 1 hour, well at this rate NOTHING is coming through your device at this point?? So your hotspot does nothing if the phone doesn't have a data connection? Mine would get stuck with the roaming triangle, you could do 611 and hang up and 4g would come on but then go away again. If thats the case you'd save time and hassle by just taking it in with official a odin full restore flash on it.
Hey all, just a few days ago my rooted Galaxy S4 SGH-i337m running KitKat 4.4.2 NE1 with Fido Canada suddenly said "Emergency Calls Only".
I rebooted it and it says :"your sim card does not allow a connection to this network". It has been working great for months until now. I have removed battery, sim card reset to factory, wiped cache and reloaded again. My sim card works fine in my Motorola RAZR, no problems whatsoever.
This is what I used with Odin:I337MVLUFNE1_I337MOYAFNE2_FMC. Still same issue. WiFi and everything else works just fine. APN is all fine also.
My S4 is not unlocked, just rooted ( but now it isnt after factory image reset.
Dunno what to do. I have even put a new Sim Card in but to no avail and it works also with my Motorola RAZR.
Any ideas??? Knox has been tripped so if I have to send it away, wonder how much it will cost?
Thanks
Kind of figured out that the NV/RUIM:SIM was messed up because my phone was picking up all the networks so it had to be something fairly simple. SO I downloaded Rogers KitKat from Firmware site ( so I thought ) and flashed it thru Odin 3.07. After it had finished and I had wiped my phone with Philz to load a new ROM I was shocked that it was Version 4.2.2!!!!
Now my connection is back, and the menu for unlocking the phone was all there so I did that while I was at it. Don't have another carriers Sim card to test it out but I followed instructions to a Tee and I am assuming that it worked.
Just have the WiFi/sound problems to deal with. I am ****ting car sized bricks as I thought you couldn't downgrade like that!!! I hope I can upgrade again as I had no problems with the 4.4.2.
Will search the Forums some more but in case anyone has the answer, please let me know as I am at work so time is limited.
Can I now load 4.4.2 Stock Fido Formware back onto my phone or will it totally screw up??? Knox was already tripped so I have nothing to lose
Hi Guys,
I will try and keep this as short as possible. I am on contract and have had my numbers for years.
Anyone who can help me will be rewarded.
I had my S6 Edge stolen. Within 30 mins I went to Vodafone (UK) and got a new sim card - cancelling the one in the S6.
The next day I phoned Vodafone to get the IMEI blocked.
I have an S4 I9505 from before my upgrade (Stock 5.0.1, stock Kernel, UK) Now it gets weird...
My sim card will not work in the phone.
My sim card works in any other phone.
Any sim card works in my phone.
MY SIM WILL NOT WORK IN MY PHONE!
I am no tech newbie, I changed the sim tray a couple of times first thinking it was that. Vodafone gave me 3 different sim cards - nothing.
I was in the Vodafone store for 2 hours last night trying to fix it, there are no bars on my account and the phone isn't blocked or barred. The phone is in good condition.
Tried factory reset and format.
If anyone can help me resolve this issue I will be sincerely grateful. If I cannot fix this great phone - I will be forced to buy a new 4G handset.
I currently have my sim in an old iPhone and am using the S4 for everything else, so I am ready to try anything.
Thanks guys in advance.
JB
I prefer you to flash aosp rom like cynogenmod or note 5 port ^_^ . It might help your sim card to get work again. Remember to do backup first and install custom recovery . Warning : Your phone need to be root first . If your phone already rooted then you just do a backup and flash aosp rom
Did you try a factory reset from recovery mode? Reflash a stock ROM? IMEI is properly displayed from the dialler menu (*#06#)?
Let me preface this with some quick info about the phone. I bought it two years ago and it was SIM locked to Vodafone, Vodafone basically told the guy selling it to me it'd take 6 weeks to unlock so to get around this I went to a third party phone shop who told me they unlocked it but it wasn't until later I realised they had actually changed the IMEI of the device to get it to work. This was okay though, the phone worked fine and didn't give any real issues until two weeks ago.
Two weeks ago my N910F on Kyubi Note 5 Port ROM began telling me "not registered on network" (couldn't make calls, texts or use 3G), I went through standard troubleshooting with my carrier and it didn't appear to be on their end (the SIM worked in a Galaxy S 3 I have spare). I decided to update to 6.0.1 stock from Sammobile using Odin to see if it solved the issue, unfortunately it didn't. I was advised by something I found online to check if the IMEI was blacklisted on Swappa- turned out it was. I brought it back to the shop who had originally changed the IMEI. The guy in the shop told me it wasn't blacklisted but the reason for no service was because the device had a sum of "none" where the serial number should be when you dial *#06#.
He "fixed" the devices by changing the IMEI again and reverting to 4.4.4. He told me not to update it and everything would be fine. Obviously I wasn't too happy with being stuck on KitKat so he told me if I need to come back within 2 weeks after breaking it again that he'll fix it for free. Now the phone on 4.4.4 was giving a serial number and everything appeared fine.
I flashed 6.0.1 onto it and again the S/N became "none", but everything still more or less worked despite this. Since then I have Rooted it, flashed TWRP and installed Xposed. Once I installed Xposed problems began to arise again, the phone is reporting the SD card as corrupted repeatedly, everytime the phone turns on, once finished booting I will get a black screen with just a navigation bar and an empty battery icon (then after 2-3 mins it's fine), 3G wouldn't work at all, wifi passwords aren't being remembered, following boot I get the error message "process system is not responding would you like to close it".
Thankfully I made a backup in TWRP before putting Xposed on the device and restored the system to that this morning, which fixed the 3G issue but all of the other problems are still there (despite not having been there before Xposed was installed).
What should I try now? Should I go back to the guy again? Should I try revert to stock 4.4.4 or 5.1.1 through Odin? I'm really tempted to just cut my losses and sell it, but I love the phone so much. Any help is massively appreciated.

Changing the IMEI is illegal in most countries and therefore the discussion thereof is prohibited on XDA.
