H918 (orio rooted) 5ghz wifi connection problem - LG V20 Questions & Answers

I am faceing weird problem with 5ghz wifi connection .
As soon as i try to connect to 5ghz wifi ( 2.4 ghz works fine all the time ) after connecting the connection drops within 30seconds and AP to 5ghz disappears , only reapears if i reboot or turn on and off flight mood .
But the intresting thing is 5ghz connects and works find when the phone is in flight mood .
Any solution please ??

Have you tried another kernel? If you have Oreo and are rooted (as you've described) you could try the mk2000 kernel in the V20's development section. There should be an Oreo version of it available.

Yes actually , i was on stock kernal yesterday with same problem , today tried mk2000 v2.0 kernal and still same problem .
From all my experience i noticed that when in fligh mood ( no GSM ) 5ghz works flawless , as soon as GSM Signal appears 5ghz AP disconnects and disappears untill phone restart .
Could it be frequencies interference of GSM signls and 5ghz ?

Just a suggestion, do you have any of these checked in developer options? Could they affect what your experiencing? I would assume you want them unchecked.
Again, just a suggestion that's simple enough to try.

Wifi problems/ CM7

Hey All!
Having problems connecting to the university's wifi
there are a few networks, some secure (802.1x and enterprise wpa(?)), one is open
At times, even when in areas of strong signal, the phone wouldn't connect
to any of the networks, or it would start to connect and then fall out
and start looking for other networks, even when there are other, it would usually not connect to any of them and continue wasting my time
if I have a 3G data plan, i wouldn't even bother, but unfortunately, I don't...
how do I fix this?
your having problems connecting to the secured ones ?
ive had the same problems , heres the thing :
my guess is ur uni has numerous routers with same ID , ur phone pairs some info to that ID , and if u wanna connect to another router with the same ID , it wont work.
heres what to try :
next time ur having the same problem with "good signal - no connect" , just detete(forget) ur unis wifi profile , re-scan re-enter ur id/pw , and it should work .... till u try yet another router , its a pain ...
Tried it, numerous times...
didn't change a thing...
Kernel?
What ROM are you using with what kernel? Highly probable this is a kernel problem. Tytung r6 for instance does not have this problem. This kernel is delivered in for instance the TyphooN Rom on TyphooN CyanogenMod 7.
v2.4.1: Updated to tytung r6 kernel. This fixes IEEE 802.1x/EAP authentication support as well as native tethering.

I'm using
2.6.32.15-g0e4b5ff-dirty
That's the problem. Either flash to another ROM or find out how to flash another kernel.
forgot to mention,
My device isn't flashed,
I'm surring CM7 from the SD Card
A solution
I find A solution (not THE solution) : reinstall the ROM and it's work find until the next time...
the reinstall doesn't RAZ anything, so it's 2 mn time
The last comment is not clear!
Wifi peap aslo does not work for my university. I tried many ROMs
Only darkstone from SD card worked long time ago, now I am running android from nand
Same problem here ^^,
Will try to install some kernel

please help....... wifi is not working ???

Hi
i'm a biggener, i installed taboonay2.1 with every thing ok. afetr ihad worked 3g huawei on my iconia a500 i lost wifi connection. wifi is fine with my laptop, but it doesnot work with iconia. even i updated to 2.2 .
wifi is working but can not find my home wifi network !!!
please help.
Wrong section. this is not dev related and should be in the general or Q&A section.
perhaps there is a conflict with the 3g modem and wifi. did wifi work properly before you set up your dongle? Did you try reflashing and updating to 2.2 before you set up the dongle?

5-update 2.2
6- still wifi not working
7- searching the internet for solution
i'm thinking of doing the following
1- reinstall taboonay 2.1
2- update to 2.2
3- 3g dongle
4- try wifi ????
what do ya think of this idea?
i did the following:
1- reinstall taboonay 2.1
2- update to 2.2
3- wifi is ok
4- putting 3g modem
5- 3g ok, then wifi shut down
so i got back to the same problem ?????!!!!!
how could i solve this conflict between wifi & 3g ?!

Oneplus 5 does not connect to wifi networks

Hello!
My Oneplus 5 does not connect to any wifi networks. It is able to see all wifi networks in the range, and is also able to save the network if the password entered is correct, however, it won't actually connect to any network that is saved. I have tried using advanced options while connecting to a network to change from DHCP to Static settings, but it still won't connect to any network. I have also tried changing the wifi band frequencies (2.4 and 5 Ghz individually) to connect to a network but that too does not help. Mobile Data and carrier signal on the other hand work flawlessly, and so does bluetooth connectivity, NFC and personal hotspot (which is why I am very confused). I should also mention that when it fails to connect to a saved wifi network, it occassionally displays "Disabled" under the network SSID (replacing "Saved").
I have changed 3 different ROMs (LOS, stock OOS and No Limits ROM, even replaced the stock kernel with blu_spark r69 when I tried using No Limits and stock OOS to try and see if that fixed the problem), but the phone just won't connect to any detected/saved network using any of those ROMs. I have reverted it fully back to stock now (OOS 4.5.14 and stock kernel and stock recovery) and am still having the same problem.
Sorry if this issue has been solved before and if I am reposting something, but I really need this fixed ASAP and am not able to find a working solution after searching the forums and googling the whole day. Please help me! Thanks!
Edit: finally fixed the problem thanks to Ivints and PeterGuru. Check out the post that Ivints linked below (especially the comments in page 2 of the same)

Thank you so much Ivints! I'm trying to fix it right now with the solutions I got from the post.
I'm having exactly the same problem that the guy who started that post had. I'll let you know when I fix it and everything goes well again! Thanks again, bud!
if you want to stay on Nougat look for the O2N revert flash file it's in the Oxygen 5 beta threads that will let you get back to a nougat based rom.
The Oreo update touched other partitions outside of /system so those wifi drivers don't work with Nougat anymore

I see... I'll look for that thread and get the flash file! thanks! I'm currently using xXx's No Limits 9.2 OB03 ROM with bluspark 3.2.1 recovery and bluspark r77 (Oneplus 5). The only reason that I feel like reverting back to Nougat is that I want to be able to use Xposed again. So i guess I have that option in hand not too! Thanks, bud!
Hello there my friends, i have a problem with my op5
its about wifi: it doesn t see my wifi anymore. idk why
it s been connected to this wifi 2 years ,even after switching roms kernels, firmwares
and now , it doesnt see the wifi no more, actually it sees it, in `Saved` section, but when i press on it to connect
it says ` not in the area` but my other op6 its connected no problem
and i even tried through qr code, it says ` check ur connection and try again`
Just one add-on cause I was just a few minutes away from formatting my data. My OP5 unlocked rooted, rest stock, wasnt connecting to my home wifis (2,4ghz and 5ghz). I flashed a full ota zip. I deleted wifi bluetooth via backups settings.
But I found out that connecting to an iphone hotspot worked. So I entered manually the network SSID + password although the same network name was already in my wifi list (with marking: "saved"). I then clicked on the second "new" same wifi and it directly connected to my home wifi. Same happened to the 5ghz network. I then deleted the old 2 ones.
I have no idea why this happened, I only tried to get VoLTE/Wifi Call running with the magisk module. This might changed sth but I dont get the connection here since there should be no interference...

5ghz wifi hotspot

Hi I only really use my S4 i9505 as a wifi hotspot. I am using lineage 16 and wanted to enable 5ghz wifi hotspot for a better connection for my Android TV box, it doesn't have strong wifi. I've tried stock rom and lineage 13,14,15 and 16 but none work. Does anyone know latest version of android that 5ghz wifi works? If you could share a link to a rom that it works that would be great. Thanks.
The fact you are having issues even on the stock ROM means this isn't something changing versions of Android can fix. This may well be a limitation of the WiFi radio hardware itself, or there is an issue with the hardware. You can try flashing modem files in Odin and see if things improve, but I doubt it will help.
Yes I might try flash modem files with Odin but I need someone to confirm that this device even supports 5ghz hotspot. There is no option in stock rom to choose 5ghz in hotspot settings. If someone can confirm it working with there Galaxy S4 I will try flashing modem with Odin.
The S4 supports 5GHz hotspots. When configuring the hotspot, accessing the advanced options (menu at upper right) in the hotspot config screen should reveal a setting for 2.4 or 5GHz. If you've set that to 5GHz and it still doesn't help, then you're encountering interference from another WiFi source. Flashing a modem likely will not help; you'd have to move away from the source of the interference.
If you don't have the setting at all then you're limited to 2.4GHz.

first thing to establish is does 5ghz wifi work?
are you able to connect from your S4 to a 5ghz access point?
If that works then you do not need to change modem files.
It connects to a 5ghz wifi hotspot I started with my Mipad 4. Mipad only has wifi that's why it says no internet connection. I don't think the S4 is capable of starting a 5ghz hotspot even know it can connect to them. I've tried few stock custom Roms but they don't have a setting for 5ghz hotspot only advanced settings is choose channel 1 to 11 channels. Tried lineage 12,13,14,15 and 16, reserection Remix Android 7.1. All have setting for 5ghz hotspot but starting hotspot returns error.

[LineageOS 18.1][SM-N900S] Wifi and Data internet connection lost Issue

- Device : SM-N900S
- OS : Lineage OS 18.1 (2021/07/14)
- Symptom : Wifi or Data internet connection lost occasionally
Good evening. I would like report an issue regarding wifi and data internet connection:
1. Wifi is connected and internet works ok. but when I am away from wifi network, my data(4g/lte) connection is lost, which should have automatically been connected. The signal strength is active, but no 4g/lte. Turn on/off of data connection as well as reset network do not work. Only reboot works - 4g/lte is active and signal strength is ok, internet connection is fine.
2. Then when I go nearby wifi networks, the device does not catch any signals of wifi network. Literally none. Only reboot works.
3. This symptom occurs "occasionally" once or twice a day.
4. Reinstall bios, OS do not work.
5. I hope it works well soon.
Thank you.
Report it to the roms thread as required .
Developer unlikely to read random Q&A .
BIOS ??? what do you mean its not a PC .
Network/ Wifi may be wrong baseband .

Thank you for the reply. Why did I think that TWRP is bios? haha. I will repost to the roms thread again as you recommended. Are there any baseband patch or firmware for lineage os 18.1/sm-n900s? Thank you!
The issue solved. Well, actually not solved. I have installed crDroid 7.x rather than LineageOS 18.1. It has been two days, and so far so good. It is quite interesting that what I know is crDroid is based on lineageOS kernel. but what exactly makes the difference? Later, I may try other OS too. Thank you for all developers! Dear manager, you may delete this thread
