hey guys so i have this phone and i like it, not awsome all the way, but its great so far, astonish performance and an OK camera, anyways heres what ive noticed and i dont wanna send it back before im sure its a problem:
-When i view its screen turned on from different angles the color hue slightly changes a bit to blue, this is most noticeable in bright images with alot of white level for example, is such thing normal?
Also is there any particular thing i should look for to know if its working properly or not? ive heard alot of ppl had problems with the screen, what are the steps that i need to take to check if mine has or does not have the same problems.
Thanks in advance!
ill be getting my S2 tomorrow but from what i understand this is normal on the phones ive owned in the past
all the screen issues i heard on the forums are
black spots
and yellow color from the left side of the screen

True ... when screen are turned and seen from different angles, the color hue slightly changes a bit to blue and that's normal.
But on my SGS2 no yellowish colors or black spots.
OP, the slight bluish hint is normal.
Also normal is some moderate banding on plain gray background.
Also normal is moderate yellowish left side. To check how severely your screen is effected, switch OFF orientation sensor, display a full screen gray image on about 25-50% brightness, look at it in portrait orientation, than flip the phone 180 degrees, so it is upside down. Do a few flips, you will notice the difference in colors on the left and the right sides. Most people do not see it by just looking at the image, they need a real precise side by side comparison like what I just described.
All these issues in moderation are normal for Amoled. What is not normal is dead pixels or damaged screens underneath the glass, but these issues are rare.
Pity you dont have a search button .

Hello all. I have a weird problem about some pixels on A501 screen: when the screen is on and the background is black, some of them will show "bright"... but not white, i'd say some sort of pale gold or very light brown, but again not white. With other backgrounds (red, blue, green, white) those pixels acts as normal, not being distinguishable from the others.
Is there something I could do? The issue is a lot more noticeable with 100% screen brightness.
Update: I sent the tab to service repair, and they sent me a new one. Guess what? Same problem again, right where it was on the old tablet!!
Definetely they are not stuck or dead pixel (I can say that because of the color of the pixel)
I was thinking, since I use a Tucano Youngster Case (http://www.tucano.com/shop/youngster-for-10-tablet-pc-1.html) which has a magnetic clip on the back, could this be the issue?? I'm going to try to take a photo at this pixel and attach it here.

that would be a better way to ask.. give picture so that we can see your problem..
hmm.. i would deny the fact that magnet will affect your screen.. thats why i hate those casing with magnetic clip on it.

Unfortunately pics won't show my pixels, they're just too small. However I tried passing another magnet (more powerful than the one on the case) both on the screen, with a direct contact, and on the back, where the case's magnet is located, but no other pixels got damaged. So I don't think the magnet is responsible... Does the iPad folder case has a magnet in direct contact with the screen too? If that's the case I believe that magnets don't affect screens at all (imagine iPad's owners complaints?).
What do you think?

Well, when I set my background as black, on this one and two other Android tablet I had, it sometimes show a short brown/gold line on the top left of the screen. Most of the time its not there thoough. So it just seems to be a software thing. Although I do not have any problem where pixels appears randomly throughout.

Can you get a pic, so I can try to say if we're talking about the same issue? However, my pixels are always there, even in the "Acer" and "Android" boot screen... so I doubt it's a software issue.
Just a heads up... Yesterday I got my 3rd Iconia, and guess what, same problem again. I think I will just live with it... but I'm extremely annoyed.
Does anyone knows what kind of problem can this be, with gold-coloured pixel only with black background?
You should load up the Screen Test app that sets all pixels to red, blue, green, black, white, etc. in sequence as well as displaying several resolution and gradient screens and see how those pixels react.
I bought one A500 that had bad Wi-Fi but all pixels were perfect. Exchanged it last weekend for a second one with working Wi-Fi and all the pixels are also perfect. I don't see any gold pixels.
I'll disagree with your statement "Definetely they are not stuck" in your second post because if they are always gold in all screens they are indeed stuck. Not stuck on white or black but still stuck on that one color.
Does this happen on all home screens or just one? I hope you can post a picture of some sort because I don't know where to look to see if mine has the same issue but, running Screen Test, I don't see any incorrect pixels in Screen Test.

I ran a pixel test app and with ree, green and blue pixels everything is perfectly fine. Only with black background I can see them. I tried to take photos but pixels are too small to be noticeable :-(

Can you tell us exactly where to look? In Landscape mode, how far from the left/right top/bottom edges should I look and how many pixels am I looking for? How many should I see that are not completely black?

Among three tabs they were in different numbers and position... however they were between 3 and 6, and in the middle (vertically speaking); horizontally, instead, i found them twice on the right half on the screen (volume keys up) but this last iconia I have right now they are on the left. I also managed to get some photo, I'll post them later.
EDIT: Unfortunately I forgot my camera's MMC at home... will get back there in 10 hours and post the photos. However I ran Pixel Fixer during the night (an app which alternates red/blue/green/white screens very fast) but the pixels were still there this morning.

I ran through all the colors in Screen Test and found only ONE bad pixel across the entire screen and it's only when the pixel is supposed to be blue; it's black instead. That same pixel is correct on all the other colors though.
Otherwise, at full brightness and on any color, they are all on correctly and off when the screen is set to black. I don't see any other colors as you describe.
If your screen is doing something similar across three different tablets, maybe it's something you are doing but I'm not sure what it could be.

Please note that this issue is present in the Acer and Android boot screen... what could I do wrong in that phase?
Ok, here's the photo. The three pixels are inside the white circle.
I just rebooted after setting display brightness to full and did not see what you see. I guess I'm no help. Sorry.
I recently purchased galaxy note and had dead pixel issue with it. So I got it replaced, and now the second one I ve got has this strange light greyish blemish visible on grey backgrounds. Also when I see the screen with grey color on it the screen doesn`t look uniform where as in all rest of the colors it looks uniform. Please have a look at the attached pictures and let me know if its normal ?
Also please set your brightness to 15% or below to check your devices.
Heres the video for better view:

Honestly, I don't see any blemishes at all. However, I do see a lot of air bubbles trapped under a screen protector. Are you using one?

No issues on my Note
No issues with the screen, no grey spots no bubbles, no screen protector.
My screen is great.
Also please set your brightness to 15% or below to check.
My god that CPU is loud!
Btw, i can't see anything.

Same thing happened to me. The 1st note I got had dead pixels and dust moving behind the screen. The second one had those dark lines on grey and white color... the first one had those too but not as much as the second one. I sent them both back for a refund. Don't know if I should try my luck on a third one..
Here are some photos:

Mine looks somewhat like the second one but with very less of artifacts !
I actually have some pixels burned in at the top of the phone, kind of where the black bars would be if you play a video at original 16:9 format.
I haven't checked my navbar button are yet.
I'm dissappointed, I've had the Galaxy S4, S5, S6, and S7 and none of those displays got burn-ins for me.
Can you take a photo of it with another camera?
Hi everyone,
I would like to know if you have the same "problem ". I've received a galaxy s8 last Friday. Everything was great except one. I've a noticed a potential image retention. For example, the (black) navbar remained on the screen for 3-5 second after closing an app. Or the black bar on the top (when apps aren't full screen) was noticeable also after closing. So I went to a store to see their galaxy s8 and s8+ and test it. The results was clear, their galaxy s8 had the same "problem" but not the s8+. So I decided to change my phone and get a new. Surprise, same thing... then I went to another store and their s8 also had this potential issue but not their s8+. So I've seen 4 galaxy s8 having this problem. My question is simple. Am I the only one ? Will it get worse ? Is it normal ? I don't think that my store is going to change my phone again. Keep in mind that this "image retention" is more noticeable on a blue or gray picture. Thanks for your answers.
Wait i thought black pixels would be turned off when watching with black bars so that wouldnt cause a burn in or does it?

Correct, black is turned off, but with black background, light coloured icons are on, and quickly burn in compared to those around it.
But this seems ridiculously quick.
oled burn-in is actually caused by pixels being turned off, but shouldn't be visible this quickly.
it's caused by active pixels being "used up" quicker than inactive pixels.
but are you sure there's actual burn in?
the navigation and notification bars aren't completely transparent, they'll always show a faint black background that looks a bit like a shadow.
and on oled screens that completely disable "black" pixels often have a slight delay when switching between black and colored.
Yes and it's not that bad. I just know that I had this problem on my s6 edge after 6 months. So if I have it after one week with my s8, how will be the screen after 6 months ? I'm just worry about permanent burn in...

Either defective screens or s8 screen in general is a joke. My s7e doesn't have any visible burn-out(yep, that's how it's called in amoled screens, it's decaying light output of the individual pixels compared to the those around them) after 8m heavy use.
Did anyone see this? http://phandroid.com/2017/05/02/galaxy-s8-screen-burn-in-fix/

No, I don't have any kind of a problem with the display and I hope it will stay that way. I am just saying I never tried to search for it hense no visible burn-out. All I care is for a real usage problem, not forced search for it.
Hello,
I just got my OnePlus 5, and everything seems to be perfect. I don't really mind the Jelly Effect.
But, after using Discord (Dark Theme), I noticed that the Bottom Left side of the screen and parts of the left side of the screen are more Darker/Purple than the Top Right/Right Side.
This is mostly visible in apps that have a Dark Theme, using a shade of Black or Gray. With light colors, I can not see the discoloration. It becomes very apparent when having the brightness on its lowest and Night Mode on.
Also, this is the first time I've used an AMOLED phone, so maybe its just me, not the screen. I also think it might be the pre-applied screen protector, not sure.
I doubt it will somehow fix itself. So you either live with it or RMA it and get a new one.
Such things usually happen with usage. My old S4 has a similar issue, where the top of the screen is darker than the bottom. It's hardly noticeable though.
Seems like its an issue with the AMOLED panel, there is a thread about on the OnePlus Forums:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/hows-your-screen-tone-brightness-uniformity.453457/
The OnePlus 3/3T had this issue too, I'm not surprised the OnePlus 5 has it because it uses the same panel.
