Same here!
I am confused. Everybody is talking about getting official MM Update. We get LL 196.
The MM fireware is on the Asus Webside! We do we get an LL Update?
Anyone got an Idea?
Regards
They said that the upgrade from LP to MM has to be done manually. Only updates to MM (and LP) are OTAs.
Is it safe to update without unroot? I rooted my phone with method 3.

I think it's because there were some issues with the Marshmallow update, and until Asus fixes them, they want to release the September security update.

No. You have to unroot first. Method 3 doesn't work in M.

We're are still talking about LP here, not MM. Please read the thread before misinforming people.

You're absolutely correct! There is so much confusion about L and M updates. In fact, that is what this thread is about. And I did read the thread. So, to be more precise: if you just run the current OTA L update: no, you don't have to unroot. If you want to update to M you have to do that manually and unroot first.

It works most of the time if :
- You're still on LP
- Root method is 3
- Your phone was up to date with the last previous firmware.
In any case, if you end up with boot loop, just download the last full firmware from Asus support site and flash it using sideload method. Nothing will be lost but some time and maybe root access.

Asus will continue to provide updates (at the very least security ones) for those that choose not to upgrade to M

Were did you get this info about MM not being deliverd through OTA? It seems illogical not to update via OTA this major update.

Yes. If you root your phone using the ONE CLICK ROOT METHOD.
However, you still have to uninstall BUSYBOX and XPOSED INSTALLER if you installed them if you want the update process to be successful.
Update done.

Illogical?
Jump from LP to MM is an upgrade that can lead to unexpected bugs if done without clearing cache and data. If you were a Company, would you take the risk of getting lots of customers complaints that you will have to supply support? It's better to give it as a manual procedure so only a few user supposed to know what they do, how to backup their data and apps settings, how to clean data and cache, will upgrade.

Can you give me a link to this? I thought that I didn't get MM because they stopped the update, and instead only released the security update for September until they solve the issues that the Brazilians have with the sensors.
Anyone have link for this update?
I am currently downloading the beta nougat for the sprint as i type this. I read that Samsung has an e-fuse in the latest firmware builds, but as i was reading the nougat beta program, they said you can revert back to your old firmware if you want to. Question is can you skip and revert to PJ2 version that has a root solution ? Thank you
If you take the beta, you can revert to mm "if" you first back up your rom with SmartSwitch. You use that to revert.

But how do you revert back?. I'm not seeing that option in smart switch. I've never used it, I'm not familiar with it. After doing a factory reset. I still have Android 7, but it runs smoither.

Thanks, that is what I figured. but it probably won't let me go back to PE1.. Hopefully we can get someone to obtain root, with the beta version.. That would be sweet.. I did call Samsung, and asked if there was a FW with no carrier bloat I could get my hands on.. They never even gave me a answer. LOL
Hello,I know there are a ton of tutorials on how to roll back, but how do I know which OEM info to flash and which version? I am currently on RR 7.1.1 with TWRP installed

stock rom turkey.
1-) activate 'all apps on home screen' from galaxy labs menu on marshmallow.
2-) then update to nougat via OTA
that is it.
This feature doesn't exist for all s7 edge users. Probably you were using this before 7.0 thats why still active for you and like yours.
In Turkish: Hocam 7.0'a güncellemeden önce bu özellik herkeste vardı. Eğer aktifken 7.0 a güncellediyseniz ordan kalmış oluyor büyük ihtimalle.
Edit: Siz zaten yazmışsınız pardon

If you are using 7.0 downgrade it to 6.0 and activate Galaxy Labs this feature. Then upgrade it to 7.0
Can you downgrade easily ?
Read somewhere that there were issues with downgrading

It's simple. Just find 6.0 stock rom and install with Odin. This means "Downgrade".

Yeah , thanks know that far. I was worried as for the firmware that was also upgraded from 6 to 7.0.
Ok so just to be clear, if this was a Samsung Galaxy, I would not be asking questions. That's my "safe zone".
So first, how do I update to 8.0? I'm rooted, using mk2000 kernel and I have Xposed installed.
Do I have to uninstall Xposed? Do I need to find the stock kernel?
What about TWRP? Does that have to get updated first?

I'd suggest if you want to retain root, wait for someone to upload it with a root patched boot IMG as far as xposed you probably have to reinstall after updating to oreo

What I don't understand is that with my Samsung Galaxy S5, all I had to do was gain root with Odin.
I never had to flash TWRP to flash any custom ROMs or any updates. I used mobile Odin Pro for all of that.
ChainFire developed FlashFire which does the same thing and it supports many devices. Not sure why it can't work with LG devices.

Can't say much about Samsung maybe @runningnak3d might be able to pitch in with his super brain.
The H918 never had full fastboot. It was rootable when it was ARB 0, because there was a kernel exploit that gave temp root and then you could dd TWRP onto the recovery partition.
As for the S5 and older phones in general, Qualcomm security pretty much didn't exist, and therefore Android security didn't exist (same for Apple and jail breaks).
Qualcomm has upped their game drastically by adding security into the CPU. Android and the OEMs take advantage of that to lock us out.
The TMO G7 no longer has an unlockable bootloader, and the V40 won't either.
If you want a phone that can be rooted with an SD845 chip, buy a dev friendly phone.
