Hey Guys ,
I tried a search here in the forum but I can't find anything related to my problem.
I'm using a OnePlus 6T with OOS 9.0.11, rooted with Magisk and I'm using the Viper4Android Materialized module from Magisk manager.
After a time not using viper/not listening to music, the service stops working. I force closed viper, cleared cache and reopen it doesn't help. Viper itself says that the drivers are in supported state. But I can play around in the app and nothing changes.
After a reboot viper works again but I don't know how long. And rebooting the phone Everytime I want to listen to music is a bit annoying.
So I'm asking here if someone experiences the same issue and/or maybe have a solution for this.
Thanks in advance
Calvin
I have the same problem. You may try "Lock Effect Mode" in Viper4Android Settings. This works for my for Bluetooth headphones.
Try enabling the persistent notification in viper settings
Maybe you have to update to the latest version (2.6.0.5): https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/com.pittvandewitt.viperfx
Magisk Modul is not allways up to date.
I'm on Version 2.6.0.6. (from the telegram group) and Viper4Android work with spotify most of the time. When I play around with the V4A settings I loose sometimes the V4A. Then I have to stop and play the music again and everything is fine.
I don't have that problem whatsoever.... UNTIL i use my work profile, because at the moment of installation, i chose "system" and thus it's "installed" in both profiles and they conflict, but when i remember I'll change it to data partition... and hopefully it'll solve it.
I usually get it back by closing my work profile and if isn't enough, a force close and/or "disable selinux" from within viper, i haven't checked to see if my kernel actually allows it or not or whatnot for that matter, but it seems to trigger a refresh for the app and starts working again, and/or try toggling the main switch off/on again.
I tell you many different scenarios because i don't know your firmware nor kernel, viper setup and other audio configurations, neither do i have any info of other settings, such as the battery's background restrictions for the app along with the optimization status, etc.
Play with it and you'll be fine!
I'm on beta two, clean slate kernel, viper and dolby along with the modification and compatibility modules, all installing choices set to "1", and like i said, viper as system.

Ive tried all the major roms including the stock rooted ones and the custom ones by jrkruse and others. One thing remains clear, we still havent figured out how to fix lollipop's bluetooth cache problems. This happens on all of them and on many different sound systems ive tested.
Ever since switching to Lollipop, the MUSIC app sends the correct track info to bluetooth..... UNTIL i use another app like dropbox or pandora to play a sound, then when i go back to MUSIC it gets stuck on the wrong track info.
It also happens when i do a voice search with google now or sometimes with my Volkswagen's voice search. Its a problem with Lollipop's bluetooth app cache. When I go into bluetooth in app manager and manually force stop and clear cache then reconnect, everything is fine until i try using another app again. Never happened before Lollipop. Kitkat must have automatically cleared its cache whenever another app took control of sound output, which makes sense. I feel like this should be the next big thing to work on for custom ROMs. Ive seen a lot of people having the issue but I dont see anyone working on it.
Hello, I have a stock rooted N6p with ElementalX kernel and that's it so far. I am ugrading from a Nexus 5 and using the transfer process of the phone to import all my apps.
I noticed that somewhere in the 120+ apps transferring I have an app that's causing a bug which is that when the screen is off the volume buttons on the phone do not work, same for my headphones, standard sennheiser momentums with mic. The mic input for voice works though.
To narrow what's causing the bug I have gone back to full stock with and without the kernel and it is definitely an app having that problem, it comes back during the mass import before I install the kernel or root so everything is full stock at the point it's happening.
Does anyone knows of a way to find what app would be causing the problem without having to remove and reinstall and test and/or reboot for each ones ? I have removed the most probable causes with all audio apps and it is not anything like Spotify or any other players. So right now I'd prefer not to have to spend hours manually finding what's the problem.
Any ideas are appreciated
You can try to reboot to safe mode first. On safe mode, your 6P will be as good as new, as if no other apps are installed in it. If the issue persists, consult your doctor, lol JK. Try uninstalling one app at a time starting with the ones that you suspect.
Perhaps checking app permission and denying them one by one for different apps could be faster, compared to uninstalling apps. Worth a try.
I figured that I have a bug with being locked or not, when screen is off & no lock mechanisms like fingerprints then I cannot use the volume buttons, either on phone proper or headset. We are a bunch of users having this problem on google's bugs website, I fixed this by implementing the fingerprinting locks thank you for your suggestions

I am experiencing random cut outs of audio during media playback through the speaker. Bluetooth and headset working fine. Notifications and other sounds working fine. Mainly during video playback, streaming and video stored on device, the sound plays for a few seconds then cuts out. I didn't have this issue before the most recent OTA update. I have tried factory resets, rebooting, wiping cache, even custom roms. Does anyone else have this issue? What is the solution?
I have the same issue as you. GS7 Edge Verizon. I can't find any solutions out there yet :crying:
Same issue. The only thing that I can add is that when the speaker cuts out, if I switch to phone, make a call, and then put the call on speakerphone, then hang up, the problem is fixed for a few minutes.
Does anyone have a solution for this? Surely its a common issue. Unless my phone is on charge I can't use apps like spotify, listen to podcasts or radio unless I keep the screen on.
Any luck?
I have the issue on a sm-g930F. Samsung support just says i should send them my device but thats not my plan. I called them and sayed i want a update of the firmware but they refused me and just sayed i have to send it to them because they can not make a update without my device is seen. I really hope someone sends his device to them that we can get a new firmware . Iam on android 7.0 official samsung update but this bug is in 6.0 the same .
Anyways i need a soöution for this. Its a softwarebug i know, because nexus 6p users and nexus 5 users expirienced the same ****in error. Please help out.!!!
I was experiencing audio pause or stopping after an OTA upgrade to Nougat on my stock S7 Edge Duo (G935FD), when using Pocket Casts podcast app to play files stored locally on internal memory. This seemed to happen primarily when using wired headphones or bluetooth speaker, and some minutes after the phone screen turned off.
I tried wiping the app cache, reinstalling the app, wiping phone cache, full phone wipe, reinstall stock Nougat via ODIN, TWRP & rooting phone, disabling Samsung App Power Saving via Titanium Backup (com.samsung.android.sm / com.samsung.android.devicesecurity). Only when I booted into SAFE MODE did the problem go away. So I used TB to disable pretty much everything I could recognise as an app I had installed.
Eventually, after much tinkering I seem to have narrowed it down to some combination of Quick Connect, Google Chrome and Android System Webview. I have disabled QC and Chrome and I no longer have any audio issues. When I unfreeze/freeze Chrome or Android System Webview I get an audio issue as the app freezes/unfreezes.
I had same problem and ı thought this problem can be related to an app ı installed. And it was. When i uninstalled Sputnik news. My problem had gone. If u have it, uninstal. If u dont have, may be one of other app causes. Try uninstalling each app, and find the app causes this problem
Since the last dev preview up to the final release, I've been having some major issues getting Viper4Android to work properly with Spotify and Google Play Music. For whatever reason, it works for a few minutes after the initial Nougat setup, then stops working whenever I'm steaming music. When I look at the driver status, it says "processing: no."
However, on Pocket Casts things are running normally - which is less than ideal since I turn it off when listening to podcasts.
I've forced permissive mode at boot, removed MusicFX, the audio effects file in the root folder, yet I still can't get it to work properly. I've even flashed various "fixes" and versions of Viper4Android, still, nothing changes.
This is exactly what kept me from staying on the dev previews, and I'm bummed to see nothing has changed since the final release.
I'm on the verge of pulling my hair out! Has anyone successfully gotten Viper4Android to work properly on Nougat, and if so, how?
It is entirely possible that viper needs to be updated due to changes in the coding. This would be something you may want to ask about over at the actual viper forum
And boi it's annoying. For Alarms and and Calls the system simply stops all audio.
To put the long story short; an error happens at a moment be it double disable audio or simply unable to use the driver or similar. It doesn't happen at any exact moment, it can happen at random. And it's really annoying. Like I said, music players stop working, alarms don't work (vibration does tho), you can make nor answer calls.
I honestly thought this was done via Amplify or Greenify or something, then moving to other roms, it kept happening and thus I decided to post it here. I have logcats if needed.
In my case; last few occurrences went off with a lag, trying to navigate and seemingly freezing for about 2-3 minutes and then the audio crash. sadly didnt log that one.
bump?

This won't be of much help but I haven't experienced any audio issues with any ROM yet.
Do you have any utilities such as V4A or AFX installed? Do you have a custom kernel with sound control installed? Also, if you're on Vegito audio may crash while the phone is off as Vegito will unplug all cores but one when idle.
There was a featured XDA thread about enabling high-perf mode for Qualcomm DACs too... it simply sets it to maximum power at all times to the DAC, reducing audio startup delay. Worked fine on my G4 with Magisk, but ymmv.
I do not have any mods installed. And have the ROM kenrel (In this case AOSIP)
I have some catlogs if needed @[email protected] However, mind letting me know of this featured thread? sorry for the ridiculously late reply, I thought I had replied the same day.
