A really small changelog this time

Wow.....how anti-climcatic I know it's only a monthly security update, but geez. Android Q must be getting all the attention in preparation for it's preview release....lol. Think ill stay on ABC Rom from December's patch....

Such a boring update. I was hoping for something at least. I wonder when will Google put up a system wide equalizer.

Thank you for clarifying my nerdism.

And still not fix for the Bluetooth metadata issue that started with Android 9.0 was released in August.

I have the impression to have a lower SOT since this update.*

Android 5.1 rolling out now! Finally!

It seems that nobody talk about it... Updates are always welcomed!
http://officialandroid.blogspot.de/2015/03/android-51-unwrapping-new-lollipop.html
edit: It's true! It's rolling out after more than 3 month of waiting
Well someone mentioned it in another topic. I think we'll have to wait a few days (or weeks). Mostlikely we'll see a custom 5.1 first, as the source code is already published.
Anyways, I look forward and hope that the did something with the memory management. I looked at their changelog and saw that ~20 memory leaks was found and fixed. That is the major issue for me at the moment. Multitaksing with two tabs in Chrome and spotify playing along with FB+messenger is really horrible. Also I'm planning to run custom ROM/Kernel after they have been updated to 5.1.

In the official android team blog, it talks about "Device protection" upcoming feature in lollipop 5.1.
This feature will be available on most Android phones and tablets shipped with Android 5.1 in addition to Nexus 6 and Nexus 9.

did you happen to have captured the OTA?
Looking at the build number i'm pretty sure that's a custom ROM not the official stock ROM...
"lollipopalooza" indeed ...
Looking at AOSP flounder kernel commits, I see that most changes are related to the GPU and WiFi.
Can't wait to try it.

Ugh well this is taking way too long. The memory leaks are making my Nexus 9 almost unusable at this point. Not exactly something I expected when I paid $600+ shipped to Canada for the 32 GB at launch.

Good stuff mate!
Question: what happens if you hide the navigation bar? I mean, how did they replace Back - Home - Recent buttons?
Aaand: is there a dark theme built-in by chance?
Thanks!

Yeah. It shows as 7.0 -- all of the specs show up wrong. This is true with prerelease builds on other Huawei phones as well.
Anyway, if you're not convinced, here's notification snoozing and picture-in-picture settings.

I use to be a "gotta have it now" and would flash pretty much any rom that came along, when I had the Dell Streak 5, and the Galaxy Note (1). Since I got the Mate 2, then the 8, then the 9, I haven't flashed anything but OEM official builds, haven't even bothered to root or screw with it.
For me, my experience with Huawei, their roms have been so stable, I haven't had the urge to jack around with it. I don't mind you guys doing it though, makes it easier for us old timers that don't want to bother with it anymore.

Me too. There really isn't anything else for the Mate if you wanted to flash at least officially or on here. But yeah, I can't really think of anything I want that it doesn't already have. Nothing I could really improve. I thought I was all 100% for the Pixel 2 but now I'm thinking Mate 10!

Of course, everything I want but even faster and longer lasting. Less body to screen ratio is always welcome too. Tmobile's new 600 mhz support would also be great.
I would want Wireless charging, then I would upgrade to the Mate 10, if not I will keep my Mate 9.
I would like to get a current Security patch though
@duraaraa
Hi mate,
What is the kernel number, is it still 4.1.18 or it got up to 4.4?
Do you actually feel any real life difference in general at all between Nougat and Oreo?
Do you think that stand up time/drain has improved as to the few wake ups restrictions in Oreo?
Anything significant that you like/hate or is changed?
Thank you for your reporting here!

The kernel version is showing as 3.10.20-20436-468, built on Sep 14. Security patch is September 5. Whether or not it's reported correctly, I don't know.
I'm not really using it as a daily driver, but it does feel a little bit different. Some of it may be because of Android O, some of it may be because of EMUI 6. It seems smoother, but that's so objective.
Drain seems better than before, but I haven't done an actual scientific comparison.
I've not yet found anything major to like or hate.
Some other people are installing this build now, so hopefully they will chime in with their opinions.

dont be so exited about the update,
knowing xiaomi devs, the "patch" (what a paradox) if we can even call it a patch will most likely bring even more bugs on this wreck of a software,

Almost every other custom ROM is better than stock, in every way. So I'm using Havoc now, waaay better than official.
At least the developer community works on crashing bugs every day, and for free. Xiaomi meanwhile for every update brings more damage than good, always.

Its more like a hotfix for specific issues. Which is actually a nice move if you ask me.
Im not satisfied with the update policy of nothing too (mainly because you cant downgrade and they dont release full zips) but the phone is working great. It looks and feels like a flagship has nearly stock android with good additions and performance is very good. For under 500€. That simply awesome if you ask me.
For nearly 500 €, it's the minimum to receive bug correction.
I'm still waiting for a better brightness. 700 nits is ridiculous. Why ? Due to battery consumption ?
Always on drain is heavy too, so i disabled it.
The community around NP1 is poor/little. Looks like nobody bought the phone. The sales are probably below expectations.
Looks like there will not be NP2 phone after this "commercial fail".

Insulting someone is the worst argument you can give.
I like the Nothing Phone a lot but that does not make me a Fanboy or anything like that. I can talk about the downsides of a product without hating it and i can like a device overall and not be a fanboy.
The NP1 is a solid device which has flaws like any other device. The sales are objectively very good for a new company.
We can talk about the pros and cons but so far you brought nothing to the table.
