Is it normal for the battery of the HD2 to last 1 - 3 days? I have never had any life past three days but the stats on the web site seem to indicate that it can last for double that with 3g! I am tempted to get the extended battery but dont want to get something which will only provide me 1day of extra life
Yes, pretty much normal. If "double" is taken out of the official specs, that would be valid if you charged battery, and left the phone sitting there in standby without using it at all. For example, browsing the web through wifi for 30mins takes you approx. 2 days of equivalent standby time...
I've never exceeded 1 day myself. But I use it quite a lot.
Oh right i had a HD before htis and a Diamond before that and the battery life was even longer and that is with continuous use. I think i will play around more with the radio and see if i can get anything better as the 3G doesnt seem to drain my battery any faster than without
Hi Alex,
There are an absolute forest of threads on battery life so its pointless starting another one. If you use google search>>>http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all you will find what you are looking for.
Thanks

OK, I've had my HD2 since November, and I've never understood people who complained about poor battery life. I've consistently been able to go up to 2 days before charging. On the odd occasion, I've left TomTom running and it's drained the battery right down, but overall I've been pretty content with the battery performance.
Until about a week ago. I thought I'd maybe forgot to stick it on charge overnight the odd time, but now realise the battery has started to drain much more rapidly.
I did not change ROM, or install any additional software. I made sure nothing was running that shouldn't be in Task Manager. All of a sudden, I'm getting quite random battery drain - up to 20% drop in an hour. I put up with it for a week, thinking it just needed a hard-reset, so last night I decided to flash a new ROM. I updated to the latest radio ROM, and flashed bobsbbq's latest ROM thinking that would sort it, but after I took it off charge this morning it was down by 15% within an hour.
The drain has levelled off throughout the day, but it's still much higher than I'm used to. I don't use wireless, and I only have bluetooth turned on if I'm on AC power, so I've just got GSM/3G in normal use (and get good reception at home and work).
The fact that the battery drain changed so much in such a short period of time, with no obvious change in usage or software leads me to believe the battery itself is beginning to fail. I usually expect a good couple of years from a mobile battery before I see noticable drops in charge, but that's 6 months.
Is it possible the HD2 batteries are not very well made, resulting in some people having great battery life, and others complaining that it's crap?

I had read that some of the HD2 batterys were a bit dodgy as they were siphoning off the batterys from different manufacturers and as a result some are remarkably better than others.

I am precisely in the same boat. I am using my battery now for around 6 months. Since last week the battery seems to drain much faster than before. I am still analyzing what could be the reason, but I think it's the battery itself that is getting weak - far too early.

You said it yourself, the batterys performance gets worse for every day and should be replaced with a new one every 6 month, atleast.
Some feedbacks in other threads pointed out a possible and unforeseeable cause, the microsd card.
Try removing it and check battery drain, if that's the culprit try formatting it before throwing it away.
Also, as I stated in at least 3 other threads p) it's always a good idea to check battery drain with battclock, it should be 4mA during standby, any big variations from that mean something's draining while phone should be sleeping instead.

Yeah mate, that's laughable. I've never had a mobile phone battery go within 6 months. Are you trying to jump start your car with your batteries or something?
Hey dear forum members,
I have my G2 (D802 Europe) now for nearly 1.5 years and I've nerver really experienced that "wow"-effect everyone had with the battery life. Soon I rooted my phone and used cyanogenmod instead. It was a bit better but not for long time and now my nerves are at their end (I don't know why this has not occured earlier :?) so I went back to stock by flashing stock and unrooting but nothing helps. I want better battery life but I don't know why it is so bad.
I get about 6-8 hours of battery life with 2-4 hours of display on time with 50-70% brightness. Sometimes i have 100% brightness but i think battery life is still bad even with 100%. I only use it for calls, whatsapp, facebook, youtube and surfing. I am not even playing games on it. Anyone experiencing the same problem(s)? I was disappointed for over a year but now I have enough time to try things or even send the phone to LG for battery replacement (Root Checker is tripped. Hope it will work anyway if there is no other solution).
Here would be some screenshots of the battery life today but XDA don't want me to do that so I will describe it for you:
Time from 100% to 0% was 7 hours.
Display on time was about 3 hours with 1 hour 100% and since then auto brightness.
In the statistics the display used 39%, the OS 13%, the system 10% and the rest is below 5%
Sorry if my english is bad anywhere in the text I am trying my best.
I hope you can help me with my problem and have a nice day
Small additional info:
I am charging my phone when its about to die before I go to sleep where I would charge it normally. As Example if I use it "too much" for videos or browsing I am charging it while going on with that. And I am not the 100-4% and then full charge person. I charge it when it is possible because it drains so quick. Maybe I harmed the battery over time by doing it but it was also bad when I got the phone new so anyways.
So I have been trying to figure this out for a month now. My wife has been complaining that her S5 was draining the battery by the time she got home from work. This started happening after the latest update at the end of June. So I thought it was the update but my s5 has been fine with no problems. After uninstalling some apps and setting the location settings to power save it was still doing it. So I reset her phone and installed some of the standard apps she uses which are the same as I use so I knew those were now power causing the drain. Well it was still happening and her usage is not extremely high, it is pretty much the same every day. So two days ago we swap batteries and all of a sudden her phone is lasting all day and into the evening for the past two days. Now her is the kicker the night we switched batteries I noticed that my phone was using a lot of juice for not doing much and by the time it was time for bed my phone was beeping that it needed to be charged. So at this point I figure her battery was shot. So I charged up my phone that night and the next day I have not seen any serious drain, just normal battery life and it is lasting all day like last night it was at 45%.
I was going to try an experiment of putting her battery back in her phone and see what happens but I have not had the chance yet.
Anyone have any idea what the issue could have been? Seems unseating the battery and reseating it might have fixed the problem but it doesn't make sense of why.

VS995, Rooted, been running WETA since last January.
------------
About 2 months ago I noticed whenever my phone got to 15% battery left when I plugged it in it would reboot. I ignored the issue for a while because I rarely let it get that low.
Recently though I notice my battery life getting very bad. Insanely bad. Not even 2 hours of SOT, dying in 3 hours just using hotspot with no SOT. Losing 10% in a few minutes of active use sometimes.
So I tried some battery calibration apps, tried recharging to 100% and draining again. Tried wiping battery stats. Tried different ROMS.
I flashed desolation ROM tonight and the battery life seems to be really good on it but it ended up shutting off at 24% left.
Battery apps say my battery is in good health, but I'm wondering if the battery itself is bad? Any tips or advice or help of any kind is appreciated. Thanks

I just wanted to make sure because I've never experienced this issue before. I even hand my smartphones down to my mother and they tend to get over 2 years of use and I've never had to buy new batteries. Thanks for the feedback
If it drops from 24% to 0 then im pretty sure its a damaged battery try it ypu can buy it for less than 20 dollars on ebay
If it drops gradually in standby you could have also a battery drain bug but this is not the case here
