Hi all,
I'm new on the forum, so apologies if this is posted on the wrong section.
I've got the op6T since it came out in November and have not upgraded OS since 9.0.5 - as I read many stories of battery drainage and other issues. My Question is - is there a way for me to take an image of my entire phone in the current state - before I jump to 9.0.11?
I'd like to be able to restore to this state, in case future updates cause any stability issues.
Would be grateful for any suggestions/advice on how to make an entire phone image.
Thanks guys!

This is clearly in wrong section, ask a Mod to put it in Questions and Answers....
I suggest to no rely on the few reports of issues to refrain update... Especially battery drain which is most of the time due to an individual config / usage
Just update
There is no easy way to take an image as you ask, as update also changes hidden partitions...
You can install TWRP (won't help you there, there are threads for that) and backup everything (just prefer the ***_image entries to the non _image ones). Then update and see what happens (update with TWRP, full OTA zip). In case of issues restore from TWRP.
99.99% of users must have updated now to. 11 if there was so many issues the threads would have been flooded...

Hi all! I just purchased 4 days ago my nexus 4 16Gb
Im quite happy with it but here are some questions: I'm just asking them because probably someone else has already gone through the same doubts and probably has some more experience: This device's forums have the fame of being more polite and tolerant than some other, so I hope you guys give me some feedback
I come from SGSII - I have ben using CM9 and 10.0 until it got bricked on november 2012
In the moment i received the new phone, i unlocked it, installed CWM Recovery and made a backup of the original ROM, then, installed CM10.1+franco kernel (both nightly)
The questions I have are:
1: Perhaps the low battery life has something to do with the fact that this is my new toy and I cannot stop playing with it, but I'm thinking about trying official ROM+ root.... would this improve the battery life?
2: The camera has been acting weird a couple of times: Once, the image was flickering: a reboot fixed it.... and another time, when i opened the camera app, would get a black screen. Im not very patient.... so I restarted and the problem is gone... Would official ROM fix this?
3: Which features do we have in stock rom that are not present on CM?
4: On stock rom, can you Root/Unroot and then re-lock the phone as if nothing happened? ¿Do you lose data if you do so?
5: There is a lot of confusion about this: When you unlock the phone, the disclaimer says that process "MIGHT" VOID THE WARRANTY..... does it void it or not?, what does that "might" mean?
Overall, the phone is wonderful and I'm really happy, I'm just thinking about testing stock rom but I don't want to lose functionality...
I'm waiting for your advice.
Thanks!!

There are tons of these threads, no need to post yet another one and don`t wait on other users yo answer YOUR question. Google and search XDA please.
Samsung S5 - Verizon
SM-G9000V
Running 4.4.2 (ANCG)
Rooted with TWRP / SAFESTRAP / SUPERSU / XPOSED FRAMEWORK
so here's the question.
I've run across numerous different ways to upgrade to 4.4.4
1) now that some time has gone by since this release was originally put forth, what has been decided is the best way to upgrade and retain root? Or at least regain root with minimal to no loss to rooted applications and their data?
2) If phone requires wiping, what is the best way to bring it back to as close to exactly how it was in look and feel, settings, tweaks etc?
Background : I won't ever post a question without having done a lot of research I don't want to waste anyones time and if they've already written it I certainly will take the time to read it. I currently have
Titanium Backup Pro
SuperSu
TWRP
SAFESTRAP
My Backup Pro
Each variation of restoring payphone seems to offer different aspects. Titanium backup seems to do a good job of restoring apps, TWRP seems to do a pretty good job of bringing back other portions.
I wanted to see if we can get 1 clear post, that says if youre on 4.4.2 ANCG, and you want to upgrade to 4.4.4, latest build, :
1) Here's how to do it, even if its a quick link to the correct instructions or the most relevant and accurate ones.
2) IF the phone has to be wiped, reset, or any loss of anything in order to do that, here's how to bring it back the simplest cleanest way.
would love to see this wrapped up in one clean and simple easy discussion. I realize this information is in scattered bits and pieces all through the forums. I've read everything I could find. It's hard to tell which post came out before someone found a better way and after someone found the best way and then what way ended up being the endorsed way excetera excetera. Very hard to tell from all of the variations.
Therefore seems like a fresh thread with really clear instructions as of todays date - THIS is the best way, would really be helpful to a lot of people and I would be very appreciative for your help
I really really enjoy reading all the great things you guys post, been an avid reader for about a year now, and just continue to be amazed at the incredible depth of helpful expertise and knowledge that I find on here.

Hi there,
is Android 7.0 or 7.1. already out via OTA for XT1622?
I didn't found an official image to download, only custom roms based on Nougat.
I'm on a custom ROM and I want to switch back to stock with root, because no custom ROM satisfies me at this moment.
When I tried to delete apps from Stock Marshmallow, it caused a boot loop even if I didn't touch any system relevant apps.
Thanks for all serious answers.

Short answer: OTA updates are not released according to the moderators and admins on Motorola's official forums.
<Short, slightly OT rant>
The ZIP file you may find on XDA (as well as several other places online) is apparently an unauthorized leak from the soak test Moto was conducting. It's caused a major headache for the unfortunate people maintaining those forums, going by the explosion of N-related queries and the resultant chaos.
That said, the update runs like a dream and it's quite likely that it will be the final version.
</rant>
My advice? Wait till the OTA arrives for stock users (should be sometime within this year if Moto's blog is to be believed) and then restore to stock and root.

Excellent advice. Just bought mine and was looking into this.
The A7U with MM (as I have modified it) has been very satisfactory, but I continue to debate over the upgrade to N7.0.
I did try some early Nougat versions on the old Nexus 5 and a Samsung tablet and ended up reverting back due to various performance issues, but that was a while ago.
Also, some here have reported problems either with the process or with the function of the end resut, so I am looking for some recommendations pro or con about making the move to B15.
Thanks

I'm on N and the only reason im on N is because ZTE fixed the VoLTE and its not roaming on Verizon any more. Pretty much works as it should and acts just like a Verizon device which is impressive, because we never get to play with unlocked devices on Verizon.
Now to the actual B15 stuff. Its a bit more laggy then MM and a few apps are pretty much unusable on N. Those are WhatsApp and LinkedIn on my device. I think I've seen another one or two somewhere else.
Camera is definitely better for me. Battery is great for me but it was great before the update.
Pretty sure im forgetting a few things. Overall im happy with the device and even happier that VoLTE works now.
7.1.1 should be out soon, hopefully that takes care of these few issues.
All of this is covered in the nougat thread.
Seeing a higher build number in About Device

Thanks for your typical, cryptic response. I see lot of ROM threads and conflicting guides, but certainly no "Nougat thread". Can you offer a link?
Regards.

This is the thread that was started when nougat was released.
It mostly covers flashing issues but there is feedback as well.
You can also read the zte forum for lots of N opinions, probably more then anyone could ever need.
Personally I think its ok, but only with custom kernel to speed it up. Hoping 7.1.1 will be better.

Thanks, hadn't seen it & gave it a read. I loaded Stock (rooted) 7.0 and found it fine. Perhaps a touch slower than MM, but certainly no noticeable problems (or benefit).
I had Substratum working 98% (including Android System) in MM so missed the darker theme. Also TB was unable to see its archive on the extSDcard, although worked fine when I moved it to the internal storage.
Also tried RR, but couldn't get Gapps to install over the ROM (TWRP errors: either unsupported device or incompatible ROM errors), so reverted back to B29 for now.
I saved a TWRP BU of B15 w/ all data for a starting point when 7.1 is released.
Evening all, finally got my hands on this device this evening and I am very impressed so far. The only real issue I have come across is video playback in YouTube and Instagram (the only two options I have so far been able to view videos on) is playing speed up?? Has anyone experienced this and know how to get the videos to play back at normal speed?
I have done a little search and came up with no answers so far.
Anyways thanks in advance and look forward to tinkering with this phone in the near future.
One of the 1st things I will checkout is if it is worth doing any ota updates if there are any? Or stay on this version of 6.0.1 for ease of rooting if that is the case like some other phones I have had in the past.
Again any help appreciated
Cheers Hoppi
Never experienced that issue. Could be a problem with your WiFi, or maybe the ROM. Try clearing the app cache and data for both apps.
There are no OTA updates for this device, and you're likely on an unofficial 20s multi-language shop ROM. If you want to use custom ROMs in the future, you should not switch to a stock firmware anyway, since your device will get permabricked if you flash any official stock ROM like 26s through TWRP. Read the sticky in this forum and read the bootloader unlock guide in the x722 development section here.
