When I long press "calls" only that particular menu opens....not volume bars of calls, alarm and ring.

You most certainly can!
I use AE Button Plus. It is an amazing little app that lets you do just about anything with all the hardware buttons on the phone. It also lets you assign more than one behaviour to the same button- one for press, one for double press and so on... Check it out here http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php
Hope this helps!
Nice one- thanks for that
Yes, excellent app !
I've been able to link to npop by adding the "mail" button but it still launched the built-in mail program, anyone figure out if it can be "inhibited" from AE ?

Wheel? What wheel? I only wish the Touch Dual had a wheel
Very impressed with Touch Dual so far. I agree - the wheel would have made it an amazing device...
Maybe for the Touch Dual II?
I can't get it to scroll when you keep the button pressed (volume up button for scroll up volume down button for scroll down)
I've tried loads of different combinations to get it to scroll like the dpad.
If anyones got it working can you post how please?

the missing buttons refer to the volume buttons. just press and hold to activate them.
I've mapped button 2 and 3 and button 2 hold and button 3 hold to scroll up and scroll down.
The hold buttons work OK but they aren't usable as a scroller as it takes too long to activate but If I map the normal buttons to scroll up and down they still only change volume. If I map them to launch contacts they launch this fine some of the time but not always and other times they just change the volume. So no can do. This by the way is using pocket plus' built in button mapping program.

music control with screen off?

I know you can use the volume buttons for the music volume with the phone off and listening to music through headphones, but is there a way to make the talk, home, back and end buttons control the play/pause and next/back for tracks? thanks!
that would be awesome. It would be especially cool for when I'm using the HD hooked up to my car stereo. No more fumbling with the recessed power button, then trying to tap the down button while avoiding that truck that just swerved in front of me. Eeek!

There is software out there which enables us to map certain buttons to control other things i.e. AEBPlus, which we can map controls like volume up/down etc, but it wouldn't be able to do the controls you have asked for!
Don't think such software exists....sorry!
With AEBPlus you can map the volume buttons to multiple functions. I have single click mapped to volume up/down, triple click mapped to next/back and long button press to play/pause.

I didn't see an option for next/back & play/pause
What was the command called?
i.e.
19. Volume Up
20. Volume Down
what is next/back?

Volume Button Config

When I press the volume button on the side of the TD2 it brings up the onscreen bar, but it defaults to changing the ringer volume, is there a way to make it change the system volume instead as default, without me having to touch the screen??
Thanks

NO, that's exactly what Steev24 discribed, when having 2 separate volume indicators the Call volume is being changed when pressing vol up/down instead of the System volume.
Anyone else a idea?
Try getting a "HTCVolumeControl.dll" from a Touch HD (Blackstone) I remember they had the configuration the opposite to that of TD2, but you might lose the single volume control option.

[Suggest]put the volume up and down buttons in the status bar.

it is very hard when i want to change the volume while in cm7.
so now i call a volume ctrl app while long press "search" button.
but it is still not convenient
so I think it can put the buttons to the status bar.like cm7's tweak .
but i don't know how to achieve it.....
Search for "volume control" from "rubberbigpepper" on the market. This adds a volume slider to the right side of the screen
Edit: I think this belongs in general.

2019 remote volume control

Is there a way to get the volume buttons to change the volume by more than one increment at a time without having to click, click, click? I would like to hold the volume up or down until I find the volume I want. Thank you in advance.

Odd, I have a Vizio TV and if I hold down the volume increase button, the volume will continue to go up. And the same with a decease in volume.
Now with that said, it would be nice to have a visual aid of the volume on the screen. I have no idea if I am at 25 or 35, etc...

I have a Martin Logan soundbar that I programmed the remote to. When I use a firestick remote it works fine but not with the shield remote.
The settings for increment doesn't change anything for me.
Thanks for the help.

If you're using any app that needs accessibility then it disables the feature you're talking about. The button mapper and refresh rate apps are two popular apps that affect the volume control.

Is there a way to grant accessibility to the apps (mouse toggle and button mapper) and still keep the volume control correct?
