Flashed s8 phone (XAA) Not working with virgin mobile - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi there, I currently have a g950u and flashed the unlocked firmware (XAC) on it. I am located in Canada and used to be with Rogers, which worked perfectly, but recently I switched to Virgin Mobile and I get an error saying "Network Locked Sim Card Detected". I also get a spot to type a code to unlock the card when I start up my phone.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

[Q] [Issue] Stuck in a weird situation of trying unlock i337m

Before you judge me by saying how i'm posting something thats done before, it hasn't, I've searched everywhere no methods work
Please, someone help me I've been at this for 4 days now and maybe just 15 hours of sleep :crying:.
The phone I have right now is the SGH-i337m Galaxy s4 running NC1 with MDJ modem (Kitkat 4.4.2) Does not detect sim, it says "No sim available".
I'm not exactly sure if the phone is from Bell but the phone use to be running fine on my old rogers sim card until I updated to their new ShareTap Sim.
With the ShareTap Sim the phone doesn't detect my sim anymore. So I tried my Share Tap Sim in another unlocked phone (Galaxy note 3) it worked fine.
Then I tried a Virgin mobile sim card on the S4 and it detected it and worked fine also. So then I tried to unlock it by flashing it with many different methods:
1. I tried flashing a older version of Bell 4.2.2 but it bricked my phone ( I already unbricked it back to 4.4.2)
2. I tried flashing the MDJ modem but it doesn't show the hidden menu.
3. I tried flashing ATT modem to try it but that also bricked my phone.
4. I tried to use the AWS tutorial shown here
5. I tried the regionlock away tutorial here in the third method (RegionlockAway doesnt do anything to my phone)
6. I pulled the modem.bin from the TAR file from sammobile of Bell's 4.2.2. But it still doesn't show the hidden menu! It's the MDJ modem but it still doesn't work!
I'm not sure whats wrong with my phone. When I put the Virgin mobile sim card in there it only shows Telus, EXT and Virgin Sim networks available not the whole spectrum which is what is supposed to happen with the 337_aws.qcn file from the AWS tutorial. Then when I flash MDJ modem from bell or the one from this dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2m3id2cx4l...37MVLUAMDJ.zip
It still doesn't show my secret menu.
The secret menu I'm trying to access is the *#0011# but if that didn't work I also tried the *#9090# It still doesn't show the secret menu. So what do I do now? Please Help!
Thanks for reading!
Sorry to hear that, but you are in the same situation i was, the phone was probably sim-unlocked by Box Software, like Octopus or Z3X Boxes as i did, the phone won't recognize some sim cards by unknown reasons, there is no fix avaliable for this as i changed imei, tried different NVM from other phone & even replacing sim card reader. i finally sold it & got myself a i337m unlocked via code.
Edit:
forgot to mention, My SIM stopped being recognized when i upgraded it to a newer LTE version
Kind regards.
Have you tried stock NC1 with the included modem? If the device is unlocked, you might have better success with SIM recognition. In my case, my device was not unlocked, so I Odin flashed stock Telus MDJ, then rooted with CF-Auto-Root, unlocked with RegionlockAway (KNOX tripped), and applied the AWS Mod.
Then I flashed stock NC1 with the incl. modem (root gone), and managed to get Rogers LTE and Wind H+ on the Telus device. From there, I OTA updated, and rooted with CF-Auto-Root, flashed TWRP, and worked my way to 5.0.1. Trust me I know how frustrating this can be, but thanks to this forum, there was a solution. Here's what worked for me (link). Good luck.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S4 only detects certain SIMs

I have problems with a Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-I337M that I bought. It only detects certain SIMs.
It works with a Fido SIM. But I want to use it with Rogers. When I insert a Rogers SIM it just doesn't detect the SIM card. I have tried a few different Rogers SIM cards with the same result. All I get on the status bar is "No SIM card | Emergency calls only".
Besides the Rogers SIMs, I tried an MTS and a Telcel (Mexico) SIM with the same results and none of them prompted me for an Unlock Code request. Then I inserted a MoviStar (Mexico) and it prompted me for an Unlock Code. So I bought an Unlock Code on ebay and entered it. It gave me a message stating that the phone was successfully unlocked.
So after unlocking it, the phone works with the MoviStar SIM and with the Fido SIM but it does not detect the Rogers or MTS SIM. Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be? Rogers and Fido are the same company and use the same network, yet only Fido's SIM works.
I have done a couple of factory resets and keep getting the same results.
Forgot to mention, I am running stock firmware, Android 5.0.

SM-G950U1 (XAA) - Cellular network can't be found after update/reboot/cache-wipe

Hi All - hoping to get your help and advice.
Original S8 was a USA SM-G950U on T-Mobile that was successfully flashed and unlocked to SM-G950U1 (CSC = XAA). The phone was fully functional, successfully received OTA updates and was on the latest firmware (G950U1UES5CRL2) in use in Hong Kong (3HK 4G LTE) until yesterday when I did a hard-reboot and cache-wipe a few days after a system update and now the cellular radio won't connect to any network. I've tested the SIM card (works fine on other phones), rebooted without the SIM inside (no impact), tried upgrading to Android 9.0 as well as older Bootloader v5 firmware to see if the cellular radio would turn on and re-connect but no luck.
Current State: When looking under "Mobile networks", Network mode shows "Preferred network mode: CDMA/EVDO/GSM/WCDMA" whereas it used to be "LTE/3G/2G". This option is available under the drop down list but I can't selected it. Under "Network Operators", tapping "Search networks" results in an error "Error while searching for networks". Tapping "Select automatically" pops an error "Unable to connect. Try later".
After exhaustive testing, it feels like the phone is behaving like it's SIM-locked since everything else works thru wifi but it's on the SM-G950U1 XAA unlocked firmware so it shouldn't be locked?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your feedback! What's strange was that my S8 with the unlocked firmware (SM-G950U1) was working perfectly for 6 months and I was able to make calls, get LTE data connectivity, etc. Now the phone is still working via wifi but the cellular function is dead. Any suggestions or advice on how to remove the T-Mobile SIM lock?

We need to verify some how if it truly is Sim locked or not first.

I've tried 2 different SIM cards (though both from the same carrier) and both were not connecting to the mobile network. The phone can detect when there isn't a SIM card inserted so that is a minor indicator that the SIM card slot is functional.... any other suggestions on how to verify whether my S8 is SIM locked?
EDIT: Both SIM cards work in other phones (iPhone6s, iPhoneX).

Of coarse not always but most of the time it will display a warning or something about sim not accepted. This sounds like to me. A couple things. Simlocked. Maybe install the T-Mobile firmware again and try the T-Mobile unlock app. It should say this device is already unlocked or successful. If that passes. It could be a disabled band or something. Sounds like the latter. Like it's not picking up your carriers signal. Again the us models I believe are pretty universal so maybe a different firmware may enable it again. Or last the device has somehow become blacklisted which unfortunately I have seen plenty of people here in US sell devices still on contract maybe pay a few months and quit then blacklists

You can't fish 950f different chipsets. What country are you trying to use it in. If it's blacklisted that's more than likely your answer right there.

S10 + Sprint Unlocked issue

Hi Everyone,
I just bought a brand new s10+ from marketplace. I ran a full imei report and everything is clean & not blacklisted. It was a sprint phone however the provider I use is consumer cellular (uses ATT towers). When I put my sim card in it obviously said invalid sim and request it get unlocked. I wasnt concerned because I was going to convert it to unlocked anyways via odin like I did my note 9. I reflashed it via odin with the u1 firmware. However the same thing is happening it keeps saying invalid sim and the button for mobile operators is not showing. I have a tmobile sim card and if I put that in it works fine. Being though tmobile and sprint are the same thats why it works fine. I also have a ATT sim card, If i put that in I get the same invalid sim message. So it still appears to be locked somehow. Only sprint / t mobile sim works. I thought by reflashing to unlocked it would unlock the phone sim.
Just to be clear the phone is brand new and never was attached to any account.
Any ideas? I dont know what to do here.
Thanks!!
As I understand, phones that are locked to a network are not just software branded... also the phones hardware ID. So flashing a generic firmware is not enough. You need to get the phone unlocked from the phone's original operator
I found out what I had to do. I had to use a remote unlock service to remove the software lock on the phone. Its fine now. Thanks
