Hello,
I have been using my Meizu MX5 for about two months now without the 4G network working. I have recently updated to the latest firmware and I am currently running Flyme OS 4.5.2.7A and that has not solved any issues either.
I have checked that the phone settings are configured properly.
Network Mode is set to "4G First".
The phone is pending between, H-, H and H+ connection (3G I believe?)
I have checked with my provider and these are the following frequencies which should be providing 4G in my country (Sweden) for the provider:
800Mhz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2600MHz
Other providers have the same frequencies as well.
I have also gotten two new SIM-Cards during this period of time without it solving any issues. I have tried the SIM cards in some other phones and they get 4G connection without any issues.
I have been in contact with Meizu customer support in China and after some random troubleshooting of factory resetting and reinstalling the same firmware on the phone without solving anything.
They have also provided me information regarding the different bands/frequencies which the phone operates on:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (900/1800/1900MHz)
WCDMA/HSPA+: Band 1/2/8 (900/2100MHz)
FDD LTE: Band 1/3 (1800/2100MHz)
TD-SCDMA: Band 34/39 (no freqency specified)
TD-LTE: Band 38/39/40/41 (no frequency specified)
I am not 100% sure on how this works but according to the information I am given, the phone and my provider share at least one frequency for the 4G network and therefore I do not understand why it is not working.
I am sure that it is software related and thus I won't send my phone back to China (4-8 weeks delivery time and all expenses has to be paid by me) for them to troubleshoot.
Anyone here who has knowledge which could give me an answer?
Kind regards,
Martin
Hi mate.
I had this problem but upgraded to new firmware late last night and it came on. Thankfully!
Give it a try
Hi,
I have checked the upgrade app on the phone and it says I have the latest firmware.
Which firmware version are you running?
Kind regards,
Martin
Maybe it is an APN related problem. Look if you have the same data as in the other phones that 4G works

Hi iicc,
Thank you for the reply.
I have checked the APN settings about four-five times and I can't find any inconsistencies. I have even crosschecked it with a support technician from my provider.
The only things I can think of is either my anntenna being gimped, that the firmware is not properly developed or that somehow there's trash in my system and that my phone maybe needs a complete wipe and reinstallation.
After the upgrade to firmware 4.5.2.7A the phone does not even hint on trying to connect to 4G. Pre-upgrade it atleast connected to 4G for about 5 seconds and then went down to 3G.
Kind regards,
Martin

And have you tried to factory data reset the phone?

Let me try to come up with something that might be your problem. If you are using 3 as your mobile provider then they use FDD-LTE band 7 & 20 none of which are supported by the MX5 and 3 are also using TDD-LTE band 38 which is supported by the MX5, but might not be available in your area.
If you are on Net4Mobility then they use FDD-LTE 3,7,8 & 20 of which only 3 is supported, so it could that in your area there is no coverage with band 3.
If you are on Telia, the story is pretty much the same as Net4Mobility as they use FDD-LTE 3,7 & 20.
In order to get more from your phone. You can open up google and search for 'meizifan eu' and go to the website. They have a pretty good description of how you install the international version of FlyMe on your MX5, the international version is called 4.5.2.7i. I believe it activates some other FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE bands.
1800Mhz band is a short range, higher bandwidth frequency which usually is less common and given that it has a short range it most likely isn't available in your area.

Thank you for the reply nasty_suicide!
I am using Comviq Tele2 as provider, which should use the Telia net.
This is what I believe as well, but I really thought there was no way to flash the international version onto the phone and was about to abandon ship by buying a new phone yet again.
I will try to install the International version as soon as I have time to follow through the steps. I have found the guide on Meizufans.
Once I have installed the international version I'll let everyone know the outcome.
Kind regards,
Martin
Hi Hawdes,
I've exactly the same problem as you do, please post back once you instal I version. I was planning to do so but since I already have everything installed I didn't want to go through trouble for nothing.
What were the results of this? Is it true that firmware can affect the signal received?
upgraded to the latest firmware yet?
Samsung galaxy s7 4G problem
What about in Samsung galaxy s7 version of Flyme OS?? I cannot see 4G option.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* on the dial pad, on the top right menu select the option to Select band on the next screen, select Band 6. I am constantly locked on Band 4, after making this change and my internet speeds has jumped significantly.
Please be advised, that you need reboot your phone and it might take about 15 minutes to sync your new settings to VZW servers after you make this change.
Let me know, if this helped anyone else.
I tried this and idk if it helped lol
I know Band 4 is XLTE, but what's Band 6?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
In the selection band, you dont have Band 4. You need to select Band 6 from the list.
How do you see what band you're currently on?
Use LTE Discovery app.
It says it changed to band 6 but LTE discovery shows band 4 even after a reboot
It is supposed to Show Band 4 on LTE Discovery. That is good. Now do a speed test and see improvements.
no improvement here. same ping and upload speed. dropped 6Mbps on download speed.
how to i change back since there's no option for band 4 in the settings?
If you selected Band 6 in that Menu, that should connect u to Band 4 or Band 13 on Verizon. Open LTE discovery app and see which band you are connected on now.
But if you want to revert back to your previous settings.. You can do a network reset from the backup & menu option under settings.
I don't have any issues with VoLTE or speeds on Verizon.
This worked, very good! I was experiencing slow speeds, especially upload speeds and this fixed it!
I've been back and forth with Samsung over this. My new S8 (the unlocked USA version, SM-G950U1) has a poor signal in some office buildings, frequently losing signal entirely. Other phones at the same time and place have a strong signal with 4G LTE service. We've tried reflashing the software, changing the sim card, and booting it in safe mode. The same sim card in a different phone gets a signal. I've run Open Signal on multiple phones at the same time to compare results and to show to service reps so they can see what's happening, though that gets me no closer to understanding the source of this problem.
In most places, this S8 works fine and has a great signal. Any thoughts about what could be causing it? Has anyone else experienced this?
Due to summer travel, I didn't catch the problem until after my 14-day return period. Samsung claims I need to mail them the defective one "for repair" and plan to be without my phone for 9-11 days, which seems absolutely crazy to me. (I made a big fuss and they offered to expedite it, but that's still 5 days without my phone.) Looking for last-ditch suggestions... anyone? Thank you!
Edit - more technical details including network screenshots posted here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/help/galaxy-s8-unlocked-sm-g950u-maintaining-t3680887
Had the same issue. Had to have to repaired.
They changed everything except the screen and frame.
The issue occured after a software update. After repairs the issue returned after the Orea update... but isnt as bad as before. I seem to have lost Band 5.. 850Mhz
My phone also *just* updated to Oreo, and I think the problem may be back in a milder form. I haven't had a chance to really test or debug it, yet.
My best theory has been that the phone was prioritizing non-LTE signals over a weak LTE signal. How I fixed it the first time: enter the BAND service mode via the native dialer by dialing *#2263# (2263 spells BAND). Clear all bands, then select all LTE bands (ONLY LTE) and apply the changes. This forces the phone to use only LTE signals, no matter their strength. It's worth noting that you may need to alter this when traveling through areas without LTE service, by re-entering the menu and selecting all bands and applying the changes.
Good luck! Please let me know if you figure anything out with your phone after its oreo update!
It is because you will not be on the network band that is stronger
Since flashing my phone back to Nougat I still cannot enable band 20 which I need for better signal. So I’m stuck with poor signal

Are you using the unlocked USA version, SM-G950U1 ? If you load the *#2263# service menu, you can't enable/disable LTE band 20?
If that's the case, I'm not sure why that's happening! When you flashed back to Nougat, did that include a flash back to the baseband you were previously on?
I'm using the g950F from UK unlocked to all networks
Almost all networks rely very heavily on Band 20 in my town to provide good coverage- so with our It I have a major problem
Facing same issue - loss of lte signal - s8+ switching to weaker lte band
Just got the S8+ and updated it to the latest OREO. After detailed diagnosis using service codes, the issue is that the phone is definitely prioritize a weaker LTE BAND Signal during radio activity with the network tower.
Getting full signals on with the same SIM card on other phones.
The new service mode is also not operable or I don't know the key yet. Using *#0011# only shows the SERVICE MODE (Stack 1 & Stack 2), but is not navigable using the Q0 and Q 0000 keys.
Anyone found a solution to this problem or do we have to wait for an update to fix this?
Enter the BAND service mode menu via the native dialer by dialing *#2263#
(2263 spells BAND)
If this doesn't work, what android software build are you running? (It still works for me, on my S8, running oreo G950U1UES5CRL2 )
Solved - jan security patch update
Hi, Just got the update for the JAN SECURITY PATCH UPDATE.
Its working fine now. They fixed the bug. So relieved, finally able to use the handset properly now.
Cheers!

Hi Folks,
I've bought a A1 Global Version (MDG2) some weeks ago and I've installed Lineage OS as soon as I got it.
Now I've a problem with LTE reception here in Germany where my provider uses LTE band 20 (800 MHz). I've no LTE reception. But the Global Version of the A1 supports band 20.
I've installed a app called Network Signal Guru a view minutes ago which needs root and this app shows me: there is no band 20 at my phone.
So my question is: is there anything I've been able to do what kills my LTE band 20? Maybe because I've installed Lineage OS? Anyone an idea?
Thanks a lot.
Very strange indeed. Here are my LTE Bands, o2 Germany, LOS 15.1 official

Thanks a lot for the screen. This means for me: in general it has to work. Do you think you could explain step by step how you installed Lineage OS? I followed these instructions: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/tissot/install.

As a counter test I installed the stock ROM and here LTE works. So I think it's the international version after all.

Does it have "android one" stenciled on the back of the phone, some chinese sellers have been selling the 5x as a A1 with android one installed.

Yes, it have "android one" on the back, "Global Version" on the box and also the manual is from the global version. And I've bought the phone directly from Amazon.de. So I think it is the A1. I'm beginning to get the suspicion that the A1 might be defective. The first time I flashed back to stock I got LTE, the second time I didn't. Than I tryed Lineage 16.0. Also no LTE rception. Now I will try one last time the stock ROM and if this also will not work than I will send it back.

it's more likely that the firmware included with lineage16 just don't support all bands atm. I'm on lineage15.1 treble and for me it works but for rxample pie sgsi seemed pretty slow in 4G mode.
btw. the camera is out of competition for ~€180.
I was going to post exactly the same question. I see exactly the same thing as you in the supported bands, I've asked in xiaomi's own forums but people there pointed me here.
For me I've even tried reinstalling the stock July image and relocking the bootloader but at the time it didn't seem to make any difference. Luckily before running lineage I did a backup of the efs, which I haven't restored the last time I've tried to reinstall the stock image. I have not tried to unlock any extra bands which could lead to problems if done incorrectly.
Some people here seem to be using lineage and have no problem at all, others like me and you seem to have problems, my only guess is that it _could_ be something sim related, maybe older sims have some setting that is pulled by the phone which leads to some incorrect setting.
Hopefully this is something that can be easily fixed once the problem is found. It's not that it wouldn't be nice/cool if those bands were actually supported the only thing is if the hardware support is not there it doesn't matter what the software says.
By the way, for the people with working B20, what do you have selected in Settings -> Network & Internet > Mobile network > Advanced - > Preferred network type ?
If you dial *#*#4636#*#* and tap Phone information what does it say there? Especially about the "Set preferred network type". A bit more down below what do you see in the measurement info after you enable immediate refresh rate? Any EARFCN of 6300 or close to that?
Have you figured something out. I also tested this on my Xiaomi Mi A1 (Global Version) and Network Signal Guru doesn't show Band20 either.
I haven't tried to flash the stock rom to verify if it's a lineageos specific issue.
I also verified that my version is definitively the global version.
If you need any infos just ask

So you are missing band 20 too, right? Can you try latest stock. Also could you look at your serial number under settings->system->about phone->Status? It shows "beeaa8e7" on my device which is odd.
This might be a long shot but did you by any chance wreck your persist partition a couple of months ago by installig a bad LOS version and restored it afterwards?
My serial number: 07f61d3c9805
I bought my phone a week ago and flashed the micro G patched LineageOS rom two days ago. This is my LOS build number:
15.1-20180925-microG-tissot
The odd thing is, that most of the time everything is alright (LTE is working). But on spots where I had LTE with my previous phone before, I get edge instead of LTE with my Xiaomi Mi A1.
I will monitor stuff and flash the stock rom to verify if Band 20 is present there and if it's a lineageos issue
How can I check if Band 20 is present without root access on the phone?

Open your dialer and type *#*#4636#*#* after that a menu opens. Go to Phone Information. Scroll down to "Cell Info Refresh Rate:" and select "Immediate". Look for the Values in MNC and EARFCN. It should be between 6140 and 6449 if you are on band 20. If you are on band 3 MNC says 3 and EARFCN 1600 on my MiA1.
See: http://niviuk.free.fr/lte_band.php
HTH
It clearly says that I'm on Band 3.
But I made my problem less annoying.
This is what I've done:
Dialing *#*#4636#*#*
-> Phone Information
-> Press the Drop-down Menu on the right upper corner
-> Select Radio Band
-> Cellular 800
Now I get LTE way more often.
But this doesn't fix the issue 100%
I stilll have moments where I don't get any phone signal on spots where my old one (oneplus X) had a mobile connection or a gsm connection in general.
I flash back the original rom and relock the bootloader and test again. I also compare the output from Mi A1 and from my onePlus X regarding LTE band.
I've tested the Mi A1 with Lineage and with the Stock Rom.
Setting my Connection to Cellular 800 works quite well. I think my issues are fixed now.

Fron the screenshots it looks like you only get LTE band 3 (1600MHz range). Try changing radio band back to Automatic. Does this make your LTE reception worse?
btw. cellular800 option is missing on my device.
When I change back my Radio Band I don't get LTE on most of the time. So it's getting worse.
Maybe this is also stuff regarding my sim card / provider. I compared it to the signal infos from my girlfriends Motorola Moto G4 Play and it looks exactly the same there.
/: I have more news @saski4711
I couldn't use the calling function when I set to "Cellular 800". So I set it to automatic and i set the prefered network type to "LTE/CDMA/UMTS auto (PRL)" in the phone settings Form "*#*#4636#*#*"
Now calling works and my prefered type of mobile connection is LTE.
/e: I get H+ often instead of LTE. But it's okay for me.
The phone works pretty well in munich.
Hi, from some days ago, i have a lot of problems with 800mhz lte band in Spain with Movistar provider.
when I connect with B20 band to the lte service, I only get speeds of 4-5 Mbps, whereas in other bands (1800 and 2600) I have speeds higher than 100Mbps.
I thought it was a problem with coverage or with my provider (Movistar Spain), but I have tried several Xiaomi (2 rn7, 1 rn9, 1 rn8t) and the same thing happens in ALL. But it does not happen in other devices (huawei, samsung)
I think there may be a moden bug in miui 11, but I'm not an expert on these issues, let's see if someone could help me.
I need a solution, since I use my phone and 4g access to work
Can anybody help me? Is there a way to "block" the b20 band to see if I can catch the b3 by default even though it has worse coverage? Can the modem be reinstalled? Does miui have any problem with the modem in these bands?
sorry for my english
thanks
