Hello,
For some reason the notch on my 6T is hidden by an overlay which looks like the 6's. Does anyone know what may be causing this? I have tried the stock launcher and deleting Magisk modules.
There is a setting that causes this in developer options, maybe you changed that?

Do you mean the option 'Simulate a display with a cutout'? If so I haven't got that enabled. Thanks for the reply.

Maybe here.
Turns out it was the Mclaren fingerprint animation causing it. Thanks for the help.

The samsung stock notification panel is huge, ugly, obtuse, and doesn't even have many of the toggle options I prefer. For instance flashlight isn't even an option. There are better 3rd party notificaction panels.
Can someone please advise me on how to remove this thing (without rooting)?
Is there an app that can do it?
This is my first post. Looking forward to positive interaction. Hopefully a successful solution too! Lol
Not possible.

Any good news? I'm also interested in removing the notification panel.
No way to remove or change it without root, however, I believe you can add a second one using one of these apps.
Settings Extended, Power Toggles, and Notification Toggle from the play store. Worth a try if it floats your boat.

I've installed "notification toggle" a few days ago and it pleases me a lot. That's the reason I want to dump the stock notification feature.

You know, I think I misunderstood and thought you just wanted to remove some of the toggles or change / add some. I've never seen it completely removed. Doesn't mean it's not possible, but I've never seen it.
You should be able to request a mod and ask somebody to add in whatever toggles it is you want (flashlight, etc.) that aren't normally there. I'm sure one of the modders around would be happy to help you out and do a flashable zip to alter it to your liking. You could also just use an Xposed module to do it.
Check out this page: http://www.xda-developers.com/touchwizs-current-and-upcoming-theming-settings/ Maybe that will lead you in the right direction.
Heh-heh, big thanks @bbeelzebub! I've installed Xposed Framework v2.6.1 (it's working flawlessly) and now I'm looking for the right module. I've tried GravityBox (v3.5.9) but unfortunately it doesn't have the option to customize the notification panel. I'll keep searchin'...
Without rooting, it's not possible. With root, it would be (relatively) simple.

Possibly. What exactly is it you're wanting to do? Remove the quicksettings panel?
I want to remove the stock notification panel (android v4.1.2) or, if it's possible, to customize it (add/remove toggles).
(an internet screenshot of the stock notification panel)

Had a question, didn't see anything close to it in a search so I figured I'd throw it out there...
Is it possible to tweak the amount of notification cards shown on the lock screen? Currently when I looked at my phone locked, it shows 2 notification cards and then it goes to a +1 generic. I am rooted with Xposed and also use Wanam. I would like to be able to see all the notifications when I look at the screen locked without any +1s. I have my dpi changed so I have plenty of room to see more than 2 notifications and a +1. Anyone seen a tweak or xposed module around that can do that for me?
Thanks in advance for an help or responses!
sorry cant help you with that, but id like to know if youre on stock, and when you changed dpi, did you fix the camera and dial, so they fit too, if you mind sharing how hehe..
thanks

Sure. I'm on stock from with emotion kernal. Changed dpi in the build prop and then used the exposed module "app settings" to set the dpi for the camera ect.

Hey all, not sure if you guys can answer this but I need help with something. I got a Huawei Ascend XT recently and for a GoPhone, this thing is pretty damn awesome. Only issue I have is the notifications. I have a custom SMS messaging app I like to use and I set up different pictures or icons for different people. Yet, whenever I receive a message from them, I get the default icon instead of the one I set up. It's like the phone is overriding what I set up. Does anyone know of a way to get rid of the notification settings or to disable it so it doesn't only show default icons? I messed with it in settings but it doesn't help.
Thanks in advance

To the best of my understanding, default notification icons are pre set by EMUI. they either use its own version of an app icon or the default on that came packaged with that app. nobody has figured out how (or at least shared that they figured it out) to change this action. it should be taken as a permanent part of EMUI and can only be avoided by installing a custom rom that does not use system wide themeing to the extend that Huawei does. i hope I have answered your question.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I cant do a customer ROM yet as I havent rooted the device yet. Is there any way of disabling just that part of the EMUI? Anyone??
You can disable all notifications for each specific app . Does that help?

Unfortunately no, that just disables the entire app. This is the only thing about the phone I dont like.
You are not supposed to be disabling the entire app, just its notifications .

Just at @duvee stated, they chose green after testing and finding it worked best. I'm sure within time someone will start to create their own animations.
Just in case you didn't already know, there are 3 animations to choose from built into the phone.
Settings -> Security & lock screen -> Fingerprint -> Fingerprint animation effect
Custom fingerprints
With sai Oreo theme substratum I was able to make the fingerprint scanner symbol black

It shouldn't be hard to change the icon out. I was thinking about doing it myself. Does the lockscreen have it's own system app? Where would the fingerprint images be stored....systemUI, Framework-res???

I'll find it one day when I'm reaaalllyyy bored lol
It would be nice if we can have a way to make it more subtle or hide it on ambient display/lockscreen, e.g. translucent white, and only light it up upon scanning, because most of the time it fries my eyes in the middle of the night when I just pick it up to check the time
PS: Yes the icon and animations ARE in OPsystemUI.apk. I know how to extract it but don't know how to package it and sign and flash and anything else
Found them in systemUI. fod_icon_default_29 looks to be the stock fingerprint icon that's shown when no finger is placed on it. I'll mess with it. Hopefully it doesn't break fingerprint scanning.

I'm wondering if the image is fod_icon_default.png as the others are part of the animation?
Can we use Substratum for changing this? My knowledge of is it very limited but I have used themes that have changed various system images.

this is solved, apparently themes are buying & don't respect your phone settings. went back to default
Don't use automatic 24 hour format in settings. Turn it off or on manually.

For me themes are working fine. Time is shown in 12hour format no matter what theme is set.
Problem must be in OP's region and theme settings. Theme store is working fine for k20.

correction, some themes dont work. i confirmed by removing the theme and then the lockscreen clock displayed proper time format that chosen in the settings.
