Favourite navigation option and why - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Interested in what people use and prefer, not sure what I'm going to use.

I had the OnePlus gestures. Extra screen real estate and more intuitive than the Apple gestures that Google stole.

OnePlus own. Is easy to use. And fast

Regular navigation bar, with Stratum navbar height set to 36, to save some extra space. I tried using gestures, but I go back a lot and it was killing my hand after awhile.

Substratum is a Magisk Module, and the navbar mod can be found here.
It changes the height of the navbar from this (stock):

to this (modded):
I used V4, FWIW. Double checked, and the modded screenshot is set to 28.
Edit: Just realized I said stratum. Whoops. I'm drunk.

I agree with this too, frees up a lot of the screen, took a little while to get used to it but second nature now.
People who haven't used gestures don't what they are missing but at least oneplus gives you options to revert back if you don't like it

Gestures for me. If I can't have capacitive buttons on the bottom bezel no longer, I'll use these gestures.

Gestures + fooView. Navigation at the bottom and sides

Default Browser quick controls (LABS)

Hey everyone.
Did you all know that the Note 10.1 default Browser has a fullscreen mode with quick controls that are gesture based? (I wish the controls were bigger, though)
If you go to Browser settings and then to Labs section, there is a Quick Controls option you can enable. Is this new in Jelly Bean based roms?
Basically your Browser goes fullscreen with no bars and you can swipe from the left or right edge to bring up a semi-circular set of touch controls to do whatever you want.
Or, maybe, you all knew this and I am a noob.

Sorry to say it but " YOU ARE A NOOB" also its not the only or first browser with this feature. ?
Still thanks for sharing. I'm sure there are enough people who are not aware of this feature and they might be helped by your post.
It had this is 4.0 but the controls wee bigger and ALOT easier to use

I didn't know about this until I was told a few weeks ago, it's very good for quick and full screen browsing, but like the OP said; it would be better if the buttons could be increased in size.

Why transparent taskbar only with stock wallpaper on Galaxy S4

I noticed that we get a black taskbar everytime we use non-stock wallpaper. Why is this so? It it possible to have a transparent taskbar even on custom wallpapers?

That was no accident. It was by design. Now, do you need me to elaborate... or can we just crack on?

Why are you getting so worked up? It was just a question. Jeez.
I'm using Apex launcher, which allows a transparent taskbar with any wallpaper. And it's smooth as butter.
Nova also allows transparency with any wallpaper (gotta select the option)

And there's a mod in the Themes & Apps section.
Samsung mentions this somewhere.
They've designed a few wallpapers to have a transparent background but anything selected by the user goes back to black because otherwise the taskbar would be difficult to read.

Tabs inside tabs

Hi everyone!!
I have the first level of tab done with FragmentTabHost in FragmentActivity, now I want do the second level(tabs inside tab). What is the best way to do it?
Something like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Why would you want to do this? It seems a bit weird, mainly because it takes up a lot of screen real estate.
I'm guessing there's a better way of implementing whatever it is that you're trying to do .

I totally agree.
I found this video from the last Google I/O very helpful, when I had to make decisions regarding navigation: http://youtu.be/XpqyiBR0lJ4

Yep, lots of good ways. I'll have to take a look at that as well!

Worst design pattern ever. That would confuse users so much
If you really need this kind of nested navigation, I guess the right way would be to replace your 2nd tab host with a Spinner allowing to change the fragment in the current tab, with a FragmentTransaction.
(Although I'm pretty sure you can avoid this pattern in most cases if you really think about it).
op pls respond

I chose to put a spinner in ActionBar instead of the first tabhost. Much cleaner now
Thanks

Makes sense.
And it consumes less space.

[Q] One-handed shrunk screen background color BLUE - why not BLACK?

This video shows this cool new feature to aid one handed use:
http://youtu.be/S2Yr7PvgKQw?t=33s
I was surprised to see however that the background color of the unused screen area is blue instead of black - which would make much more sense on AMOLED.
Can that color be configured? Or maybe it's a safety measure against screen burn-in? Also, the border of the box could be a darker color...

Sounds like a cool feature, but I will never use it. It's why I bought a screen that size and not a screen size that it shrinks down to lol. Can be useful to some, but honestly defeats the purpose of the note haha. As for the colors, I have no idea...

I'm sure that color can be changed (at least I THINK I saw black in another video). As for the burn-in, blue IS what causes the burn in. So blue would actually make it much worse.
they probably made it blue so it's easy to see, so when you move it back to original you can place it exactly in place, instead of black where you might find it hard to put back.
unless of course there is a reset....

Navbar to Match Status bar?

Are there any mods that allow it? There were a few that don't work with MM so I am looking for an alternative.
Would be nice if Google defaulted to that instead of the solid black bar.
I can do it from within my music player app. It just fills the screen more and makes it look classier in my opinion.

I'd even go for an almost transparent navbar as well.
Any help would be appreciated.

This is the module I used to use. But don't think it's been updated in a while.
there is an xposed module that I have been using called flat style colored bars or you can use flex360 rom and he has adaptive bars built in to his rom

interesting it works near perfect for me. every once in a while the battery icon does not change from black. flexes rom does a real good job
Doesn't work at all in Google Messenger. Same result with Instagram. I want an app that doesn't mess with the Status bar at all.
Also, the black battery thing is annoying. It would be nice if I could totally turn off any status bar changes at all.

Def not working for me. Not sure if it's not liking that I am using layers or perhaps I am just doing something wrong with the settings.
I see yours actually changes the navbar key colors as well. I see no options for any of that stuff.
