Hi,
The notification for outlook doesnt pop. If i keep the app active , the notification works. But in background i get no notification
I tried following , but nothing works.
Lock outlook app in recents
Disabled smart power saver-> and enabled Allow background running
I guess app is being killed by coloros
Do you guys have same issue? Any solution?

Do you keep auto sync on all the time ? If so, it seems Outlook has rather weird behaviour. While gmail is responsive to push e-mail, to which your badge will appear accordingly. Outlook on the other hand will show the badge only if you refresh inbox manually (swipe/ pull down inbox). I'll comeback to you when I come up with solution.
Edit :
Try the following,
1. Make sure auto sync turned on
2. Go to Outlook setting (within the app)
3. On notifications, select "All mail"
4. Badge count, select "All"
5. Hope it works

Notification works now :victory: Below are the steps
I have removed the outlook account and added again.
Disabled smart power saver-> and enabled Allow background running for outlook
On notifications, select "All mail"
Badge count, select "All"
One strange thing is the outlook [exchange] account isn't appearing in "account and sync" settings
1. Go to app info( by longpressing on app or by going via setting)
2. Now go to power saver option
3. Allow running in background
Done you will get notification for all the app

Below is partial solution. After below steps you have to launch the affected app frequently [for me weekly once]. I dont know any other way.
1. Disable smart power saver in settings->battery .
2.Go to custom power consumption protection->choose app->allow background running.
But the apps like gmail whatsapp doesnt have this issue. can Somebody explain??????

so i have yahoo mail installed and it doesn't show any notification when i received new emails. yes i already turn all the setting on. from the app and from the setting in android.
the only way i can get notification is by open the app and minimize it. so if i clear yahoo mail from recent app list, it wont show any new notification
so anyone having a problem like mine??
Have you enabled yahoo mail in auto start manager? Otherwise, the app won't stay in the background.
I also have an issue in my 520KL (Taiwan Version 3/32) with facebook and facebook messenger push notifications...the apps are enabled in autostart manager but i don t receive their push notifications almost never. Sometimes they work intermittently. Instead push of other apps such as Gmail, Whatsapp.Twitter,Telegram,ecc. works OK.

On notif there is a section tap to manage notifications, check if your specific apps are enabled, or try Setting --> Apps and check your notification permissions

Hello. Please, when i double click in gmail notification in aod, i read email but if i reopen app, the email is yet unreaded. When i delete a email from gmail app, random sync with gmail web page... Is this a known bug??? I repaet, random, not always and i din't understand why... Can anyome help me? Thanks
Nobody uses Gmail???
This is not a problem with the S8 but with Android Nougat. Its also not only Gmail related its all notifications on nougat are broken The best way to get SOME notifications back is to go to settings/apps/hamburger menu/special access/optimize battery usage/ and uncheck EVERYTHING. Next step is to (with root) use the app "Root- Push Notification Fixer" and set intervals to lowest possible settings. You will still not get all of them but at least you will get some of them..
Another fix is to install nova launcher and teslaunread to show bubbles on your icons when you have new notifications for that app. I have mine setup for about 7 apps and I ALWAYS get the bubble hours or days before a notification ever comes in (if they ever do).
In order to fix the issue specifically with gmail I use a different email app. I use aquamail, but there are a few good ones out there. I don't have notification or synching issues. I don't use the email on the phone a lot, a few times a day. I found a great improvement over using gmail.
Anyone else have this issue? I use the Gmail app and have my hotmail/outlook account added. Before the update I would get the new email notifications and emails automatically. Now I have to pull down to refresh my inbox just to see what new emails I have for my hotmail account. I have gone in and made sure everything is set for sync and for notifications but it still does not do it... I am puzzled at this point. It worked fine prior to update...
You need to allow Gmail to run in the background by removing it from the battery optimization. Doze on 8.1 is more aggressive than 7.1, Gmail would actually recommend you to take it off battery optimization because of this. After upgrading from 7.1.1 to 8.1 and opening up the app, it was the first thing it told me in a banner.

You need to go to Settings --> Battery --> Verticle Dots Menu --> Battery Optimization --> Press the dropdown that by default says "Not Optimized", switch it to "All Apps" --> Scroll to find Gmail & press --> Select "don't optimize" & press done.
Try this, it should work. I was able to get email notifications to my device from my Outlook account via the Gmail app.
Cheers!

That was what the app suggested after I upgraded. I thought it uses the high-priority GCM push, but it could also be because I set up Outlook on the Gmail app via Exchange rather than POP/IMAP? Not sure. I wouldn't have said this if I wasn't instructed to & it working after following its suggestions.

Try removing the Outlook account & set it up again? I use the Exchange method & used m.hotmail.com as the Exchange server.
Cheers!
If you don't receive notifications at gmail set it as your default email client.
App management -> default apps
I don't know why they decided that by default apps shouldn't be allow to send notifications.
But you can actually just go to Gmail in App Management > Manage Notifications > Allow notifications.
On Global rom notifications are set allowed by default
I have the notifications allowed and I don't receive gmail notifications. There is no email client option in my default app settings... I have the EU device and RMX1931EX_11_A.09 firmware
it looks like removing gmail updates and installing them again has helped

This worked for me, makes this OS a bit more bearable.
Go to the settings in Gmail, select your mail address, select notifications and select all for notifying for all mails. And go to inbox notification and check notify for every message.
If unable to receive, try to uninstall updates from Gmail and check if notification is coming on base version.
I've tried every solution ever written on the internet and none have resolved this issue.
It makes no sense that an essential service like Gmail should be suffering such an issue on a key feature.
I had tried everything, still doent work. Now I'm using outlook but other clients works just fine
I've just installed the latest version of Gmail from apkmirror and notifications have suddenly started working again.
May be worth trying it.

Well if you're still looking for solution, Go to Setting>App Management> Auto launch apps and enable Gmail from the list. Also got enable Background and notification toggles from app info of Gmail.
Phone screen just flickers on and off when I get FB notifications. Seems like a glitch.
When this happens, is the phone in vibration mode? Other possibility is that you may have set a screen passcode recently and in the process also enabled hide sensitive notifications and it is possible that it may be interfering for phone to wake up on certain notifications. Are the FB messages from messenger present when you do wake the screen or do they show up right after you wake up the screen? You may have changed the phone sync settings or if you have enabled power saving mode, phone may not be checking for notifications from certain apps or in intervals or both, or if you or another app have disabled facebook messenger from syncing or changed background data settings (for example datally is an app from google helps save data if you don't have unlimited plan but in the process it disables most apps from connecting to internet by default).
I would suggest go in settings, then apps, then tap on three dots on top right, enable 'show system apps', then look for any apps related to facebook, click on each one go to 'storage' then 'clear data'. Make sure you do this for all of them before you go back into FB or messenger. You will have to log in FB again and it is quite possible that this will fix the issue if settings were the cause. (Edit: Try uninstall and reinstall the app). If it doesn't work, and you have checked through all the possibilities above, you may have to do a factory reset, setup the phone again and reinstall FB and Messenger app first then install a few apps at a time to try and catch any apps that might be responsible. One last possibility that i can think of is that it is also possible a recent update to the app by FB may have caused this bug instead of you or your phone.

That's an interesting point you make, because the phone is doing just that - The phone isn't actually vibrating until I hit the screen and wake it. So they're essentially showing up right after I wake the screen. This is despite the fact that the message was sent minutes beforehand, so it would've been received by all accounts. Appreciate the help!

Very likely you have the Battery saver feature turned on. When it is on, among other things, the background activity and data of apps get restricted. I am very sure that this is the cause for the issue you are having. You can either turn off Battery saver mode or add FB Messenger to the Power saving exclusions list to get your FB push notifications back.
Appreciate all the help man!
Great thank you!
