Hell No.. I don't think it might be able to beat up a phone with SD 636 on board...
its fine for normal use, 4GB ram and about 90k in antutu is fine...I am looking forward for TWRP/root and remove google bloatware

You are wrong. SD 660 and Adreno 505 got 84k in antutu while this phone got 92k.
Also. It is smoother and faster.
Peace
It is fast coming from a S7 to this model
I finally cracked the edge of my S7 gold after years of keeping it perfect. That S7 edge gold is just such a pretty phone its hard to keep a bulky case that thing. Anyway yes the Mi Play is a quick phone and for someone like me who doesnt play mobile games its responsiveness is instant for all day to day uses. I got the Mi Play on sale for 99 bucks and 25 bucks for insurance to use until i got a new heat gun and fixed my s7. I never assumed id like it this much. Its a solid phone and for the price its just that much sweeter ..

Tab S4 isn't out yet of course, and there's always the issue of how bloated/optimized Samsung Experience 9.0 will be
that said, in benchmarks, Snapdragon 835 > Kirin 960/Kirin 960s

The MIUI skin is heavy, running AOSP the M5 feels very fluid. Ah, benchmarks... ya they sell lots of stuf that's for sure.
I think it is super fast emui gets a bad rap it's not half as bad as most people say
I upgraded from M2 8" LTE to M5 8" LTE and the speed between this devices is like day and night, M5 is flying
Got this to replace a K1 Shield, this is so much quicker starting up!
Good, but in heavy games there are frame drops. 250GFlops isn't enough for 2560*1600
*edit* I charged it and it is performing brilliantly! Maybe it doesn't like being at 10%

Same situation here, I was super satisfied with the Shield, unbeatable price/performance but I hope this fares well in comparison.
Just bought it yesterday, because the GPS in my Shield died completely.
The GPS is not amazing based on first tests, but I have yet to test it properly, in the car.
Performance so far was not astonishing, but a lot of downloads ran in the background, just downloaded the software update, and it wasn't charged fully, SW Galaxy of heroes was lagging a lot in the menu already...hopefully it's going to be better. :fingers-crossed:

This device is lightning fast and smooth. Coming from the iPhone X theres nothing I miss! That snapdragon 845 is really working great!
AnTuTu OnePlus 6 vs Xiaomi MI MIX 2S
The SnapDragon 845 does a fantastic works, everything feels so smooth that it's a real pleasure to use.
I see a visually notable difference between this processor and my old processor which was a Kirin 920
Gaming-wise (which might be the best performance indicator) this handset does really well, I'm able to play PUBG mobile in high quality without heat nor performance issues, the game run smoothly.
Hearthstone runs without any difficulties as well. (while the Kirin 920 had a lot of troubles running those)
I don't use a lot of intensive process besides these ones but all apps I tried ran easily.
Oneplus One was fast, this is rocket.

I didn't cry in the Titanic, but this phone keeps up. If 10 was the highest, I'd put it at a 7. Specs work well with the OS but suffer a bit in extreme multi tasking. Better than the other Moto phone's I've had though
As fast as those $1000 dollar phones.
Coming from a Pixel XL... the Moto Z3 Play is preforming just as good if not better. And the screen is nicer in my opinion. No regrets whatsoever about this phone!
A solid 7 out of 10.. I have a note 9 and Pixel 2xl.
I use the Z3 play the most.

8 out of 10, smooth and reasonably fast

Fast enough, it doesn't frustrate me or piss me off like some other mid-range phone I've owned have. It holds up fine. My wife has the Galaxy S9+ and I can totally tell the difference between build quality and speed but I'm happy with my Z3.

I agree with you, comparing it to a high end Samsung or most flagship phones is not really fair. But in it's range it's pretty damned good. No problems with general use. I picked one up a few months back unlocked US version with the battery mod included. on sale, plus some Best Buy money and a sale of a decent older phone for cheap. I needed something while my 3xl was out for repair. To be honest it performed far better than I expected. Use it on my Fi account. I know with the battery mod it can be bulky, but on the positive side it feels good in the hand. Just put a screen protector on it because I couldn't find a case which fit both, and honestly haven't tried to find a case since.
Coming from a Galaxy S6 Edge and this phone is worlds better. I can't speed to battery life on it just yet, but I am finding that the device can take everything I can throw at it so far and laugh. It does hiccup from time to time, but I honestly got this phone REFURB in Grade 'A' condition (looked brand new to me) for $175 after tax and I feel like I lucked out. I haven't had it close any apps on me just yet, and the UI is much snappier than my S6. I just updated everything to 9.0 and loving it more and more.
I'll report back in a few weeks but I'd buy this phone again in a heart beat. (it is a little big for me, but for $175 . . . I'll deal with it)
It's rather fast with 18W PD charger, but battery module is another story.

Is good but not that great for a 900-1k$ phone! Benchmarks are fake, after 4 devices none of them managed to show good or even close results.
What are you talking about, my ROG Phone has flawless performance and no one gives a **** about benchmark bars....
IPhones crush Android phones in every benchmark and there are videos on YouTube where a ROG Phone clearly beats every iPhone in regards of opening apps etc...
Mine overtook the place from official Antutu Benchmark score. Did about 3k more points, than Antutu viewed for regular ROGs. I have to say I tuned it a bit with ADB, uninstalled some bloats - but not rooted. For big money I want great device.
After roughly a month of use with this phone, i have already got used to its speed. It is simply blazing fast. Animations are butter smooth, moving between open apps is a charm, no lag at all. Even having several apps open (games mainly), the switch between them is incredibly smooth.
The overall day to day experience is fabulous. The CPU and loads of RAM make a nice difference here.

The tablet can be fast at times, yet it seems throttled most of the time, loads of slow downs and general sluggishness.
It is pretty nippy , but as machina said it does seem to get sluggish at times . Probably down to the 2gb ram on my version. But for £160 i still think its a bargain
It's great for Netflix, sky go etc. Great picture and sound has decent volume, just a bit jittery when using Facebook or browsing, yet I agree with The Mero, the tablet is great for the price! I got the 4g one from O2 on a very cheap contract, great value multi media device.
