Hey guys,
As an Ex-iphone user, i loved too playing around with photo applics that add effects to pictures, i.e. vintage look, polaroid etc... Can you recommend on any applications for HD2 of the same nature?
I have found VintagePic in the marketplace, but i can't purchase it since my credit card does not match any of the countries in the list. Any other suggestions?
Thanks, Guy
Vignette, or camera 360 are excellent for that. (android)
thanks for the suggestion, however I'm still running stock rom, which means i'm limited to apps in WM...
Any other suggestions in that department?
any clues?
Like you said, you are limited if you sick with wm ;-)
I have 3 apps who makes that and much more on my hd2
Hi,
I must admit, as a new user of HD2, I'm very concerned about messing around and ending up bricking my phone. i finally got to the stage where i have everything working fine on my WM, so I'm less eager to go about and mess things up.
However, maybe i can start reading and learning from other people's experience on the different 'adventures' that i may run into if i try to install Android on my system. as far i i understand there is still no 100% working version, but it's getting close.
Can you reference me to the main discussion thread on the forum for the android on HD2? (how to install..etc...)
BTW - do i need to take something into consideration if my Phone is a t-mobile?
Thanks,
Guy
Hi Guysu,
I do believe there are effects within your camera options that allows a few effects, under advance, on the 3rd page, you will find effects, limited to GrayScale, Seipia (for ur old look) and Negative (for whatever only God knows!)
But I do hear you, because I too am looking for some fun Cam Apps for my beloved phone. It's always a little harder to find fun stuff for a serious phone.

As someone who is only just a few months into his 24 month contract (a contract that has no built in data connection), I know the fear of mucking up your hardware. However I've found the whole experience to be quite safe.
The first step would be to get HSPL onto your phone from this thread - forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
Then reading this thread - forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713977 should give you everything else you need to know to find and install a new ROM, Radio and Android build.
I went from stock ROM on my HD2 to cooked ROM, new Radio and Android all in a day with those threads.
The only issues I've noticed so far as not being able to change the alarm times on the built in clock (just download a new one from Android market) and sometimes the screen stops responding to touch for 10 seconds or so.
thanks for your help in getting started...
I tried to catch on my reading right away, but i noticed this warning in big red scary font:
1024LEOs (from T-Mobile with 1024ROM) ARE NOT SUPPORTED
so, as a T-mobile HD2 user, that means bye bye sweet android adventure for me i guess?
Looks like your android adventures don't have to be over quite yet forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614
I'll swop my HD2 with yours
But my experience with Android on my HD2, it's weird, sluggish and not fun. However that jumping cow game is fun in it. .
To be honest, the last I tried, I was on stock roms and radios, now with my new artemis rom and upgraded radio, maybe i should try again.. but i recalled I couldn't make phone calls lol..

Here's an app I found via Google.
EDIT: Nvm, it looks like it's not even good.
Greetings all. I recently purchased a Dell Streak off ebay. I've long been a Iphone fan. I stood in line and got the first one and have had every one they released. Even went to so far as to get one for my wife and mom. I finally had enough of Apple's and AT&T's restrictions and wanted a andriod phone. I did alot of research and settled on the streak hands down. I got it off ebay slightly used with the dock, car kit, and otter box for $425. I sold my over hyped Iphone 4 and made a good profit heh.
Anyway, the seller said he installed froyo 2.2 from a leaked website. He said it was the version that allowed the sharing of the internet connection without tethering and such. Basically, I'm a andriod noob. So far I'm loving everything about the streak and andriod. My buddy told me I need to get it rooted. Anybody have any knowledge they want to pass to me? I dont even know how to look up the name of the andriod version I have. I also wonder if I need certain sync software? Any suggestions on what software I need to install? Thank you in advance!
In Settings > About phone you'll find Android version, Baseband version, Kernel version, and OEM version.
Most people here replacing the launcher with either LauncherPro or ADW, both have free and paid versions, and are more standard Android-looking launchers. I personally like Stage UI because it's nice and polished despite it being a little laggy/glitchy. (only had the Streak for a month, came from 3GS)
Also, most people recommend getting Steve's Froyo ROM (1.5.1 latest version), more information about rooting and flashing ROMs can be found on the Development boards. There isn't nearly as many ROMs available for the Streak as there is for the Droids and HTCs out there, but that's because Steve is basically the only one developing in this community. There are other contributors but he has his ongoing Froyo build as well as multiple Alphas in the works.
Rooting is super easy actually, just get the application Superuser from the market.
And oh yea, welcome to the fun side of smartphones.
Than you so much!
Well, I got my early upgrade and it's time to retire the HD2 from active duty. It's been a helluva ride. It's hard to believe that i was about to send this phone back shortly after I got it. After looking for fixes online for the text messaging locking up and other issues, I found xda, and it changed my whole view of this phone and opened my eyes to what it was capable of. I would like to thank everyone who answered my questions and a special thanks to those responsible for CyanogenMod7, AmericanAndroid, and the Energy ROMS. I used this phone for personal and work use everyday with little to no issues. The Samsung Galaxy S II I'm replacing it with seems like an awesome phone so far, but the HD2 will always be the first phone that I've always wanted.
congratulations on your Galaxy S II. really awesome device. The device that took the iPhone head to head and overtook Apple as the world's biggest smartphone manufacturer...but your HD2 may not be be retired to a 'spare phone' just yet. you can still run Windows Phone in it if you want so that you will always be ready with both Android and WP!
Greetings. Not sure if my question belongs here or under Development. I’ll post here first and see how it goes.
My question is this: Is it possible to revert from 5.0.1 to 4.3?
Long-winded background:
I bought an S4 about 2 years ago brand new. Loved the phone. I rooted it that day and I had full control over exactly how it was setup. I never felt the need to run anything but stock ROM. But I’ve flashed countless ROMs on other phones I’ve owned over the years. I’ve rooted probably 4 or 5 different phones – some easier than others. And I’ve performed jailbreak on iPhone and iPad. In summary, I’m not a total rookie to this kind of thing.
My original S4 took a swim when I had to jump into a pool to rescue my 2 year old, who fell into the deep end. The phone was in my pants pocket. The chlorine in the pool really did a number to the internal circuitry (not a huge surprise), and it's trashed. I liked my original S4 so much that I decided to just buy another one. Three days ago, I picked up a used S4, but it’s in EXCELLENT condition – looks brand new.
When I got home after purchasing the replacement S4, I realized that, beginning with Android 4.4, text wrap/reflow is gone. My phone is running 5.0.1. I found that Opera will still reflow text, but I’m not a big fan of Opera. To each his own, and Opera is not my own. I prefer Boat, Chrome, or Firefox. And none of those will wrap/reflow text.
This is a big deal for me, for what I do with my phone. I am pretty much willing to do whatever it takes to get back to 4.3 to enable this feature.
So, does anyone know a) if it’s even possible, b) how to do it?
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice/suggestions.
Hi,
I bought a Joying radio it has 4.4 Android on it. I got it year or so ago maybe 2 years and it came with a free upgrade! Yeah Right! they wanted to to send parts to them and they would send me parts back. That is not FREE. I had nothing but trouble with the unit. I finally put a different ROM on it and it ran so much better with hardly any issues. I can careless about Warranty so changing out the ROM doesn't bother me.
I'd like to upgrade just so you know I have the JY-UQ130. I'm not really happy with the Joying radio I have and I'm trying to do research on replacing it. I've been looking at the Joying, but like I said in another post they seem to be going backwards and I'd really like to get up to at least Android 7 if possible.
I'm just really confused on what to buy and what I'm looking for. I see 2gig/32gig units. I see Android 6 and Android 7 units. I see Pumpkin is rocking with the lastest and greatest, but people say beware. I see PX3 and PX5 chips.
I just want to buy a Android Radio that works great I know there are issues with getting android to run on all these units, but I just want advice on where to start researching and looking.
Thanks,
Rick
