Any tutorial on how to update your bootloader ver.? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello so I tried to install a recent Rom and I get an error like this " This package supports bootloader(s) 0xA050, 0xA052; this device has bootloader 0xA048 " Any help pointing me in the right direction (tutorials/post) on this matter. BTW I did a search on the section in this site could not find anything.
Thanks in advance

A little more info would be helpful. What model, baseband, and/or stock system version were you on before trying to flash? What ROM were you trying to flash? Just based off what little you have given you need to "upgrade" but knowing specifics allows for pointing you in the right direction.
One thing to note is that there is a lot of discussion on XDA regarding bootloader issues during a flash. Most are involved with ROMs developed for the stock MM baseband vs stock nougat and their incompatibilities. There are some caveats and limitations you need to read up on before you proceed. A Google search for your error with the word XDA should net you quite a bit of what you need to know.

Sorry about that, I am out of town for the holidays. Once I get back in town I will provide that information for you guys...sorry again and Happy Holidays !!!

No problems. Enjoy and Happy Holidays to everyone.

Before anyone calls me on it, I know the reply is late.
The ROM in question is likely Optimized Lineage OS, as it has a bootloader check in its install script to prevent installs on incompatible bootloaders, i.e. the Android 7.x bootloader. The OP could have found this out for himself however just by searching the development thread for the ROM he's trying to install. As to updating the bootloader itself, unless someone has extracted the bootloaders from the official ROM updates, taking an OTA is the only way to change the bootloader. Otherwise, flashing a new bootloader using fastboot using the command "fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img", where bootloader.img is the name of the bootloader file, should work.

Need some help with rooting/updating (UK wifi)

Hello,
I'm not new to rooting, but the Xoom scene is very confusing at the moment and I just need somebody to direct me to the proper guides and confirm that I'm not going to blow up my Xoom and/or tear a hole in the space time continuum.
Situation is this: I have a stock UK wifi Xoom and want to get to Android 3.1. I'm not willing to wait until 2013 for Motorola to pull the finger out and give their European customers an update.
SO
Obviously I need to root and apply the update manually.
I'm willing to risk the one-click method (I've seen other UK Xoomers have had some success with it).
Where do I go from there? One-click method says it will install tiamat kernel... but I've read that this isn't compatible with 3.1. So is there a guide that will take me from tiamat to 3.1? Do the update methods replace that kernel anyway? Am I going to go completely f*cking crazy if I have to trawl through another 50+ page thread full of conflicting info? (Yes.)
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Im not an expert at any of this, just a regular user but heres the guide i followed to get my uk wifi xoom updated. Http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074609
However you need to be aware that this software is the us version and you will ony have access to American English. You will lose all the European languages.
Also you need to be aware that if you unlock your bootloader with "fastboot oem unlock" you can not relock it. Trying will brick your zoom. (Currently)
If you could do a full system dump of your xoom as is with the UK wifi software that would be awesome as currently nobody has uploaded one and im trying to get back to stock and Motorola have only posted the us images
Thanks. I don't mind losing the languages. I'm using SwiftKey so I can just download any language modules I need.
I would certainly be willing to upload that if I had the faintest idea of how to do it! If I can get a step by step guide I can give it a go... and as long as I know I'm not also uploading my personal details and authorisation tokens etc along with the software!
Any particular reason you're going back to stock? Bugs or anything?
Edit: the canadian system image has the full set of languages if that's what you're looking for...
Sorry, didn't have time to wait for a reply, going out in a while.
I did a factory reset and then an adb pull so I've got all the system files etc on my PC. Not quite sure what to do with them, though. They're not in .img format, just in a folder?
Anyway, now rooted and running 3.1. Cheers for the link above.

Which TWRP for TF300TL?

Hi!
I would like to apologize, if I was unable to find a matching thread for my problem. I am rather new to Android and have great respect for unlocking and modding my device, but would like to do so. I own a TF300TL and are stopped at the very beginning. I am unable to find the matching TWRP for the device and would like to know, which would be the correct file, as I am afraid, that I could easily brick my device. Perhaps someone has done this with a TF300TL. At the moment, I have not yet unlocked the bootloader.
I have installed the latest stock rom on the device.
Do I have to flash the TG version of TWRP? And I am unsure, if I need -JB, -4.2? It is very difficult to understand.
Regards,
Matthias

Try going to the TWRP website then search by your device. The differences are clearly explained there. I have the 300 and I have the late July OTA, I beeline it's 10.1.6.25.1 ire something close to that. In any event I had to use the 4.2 version. Be sure to use the blob file and not the IMG file.

[GUIDE]/[RESOURCE LINKS] For updating X 1st Gen LP 5.1.

This thread might help you with the resource, links and few information about upgrading to Lollipop 5.1 when the official OTA arrives.
BEFORE WE BEING, LETS SUM UP WITH THE THINGS WE KNOW TILL NOW.
After agers, Motoroal dropped Lollipop for our Xs
First the LP 5.0.2 came out as soak test
Finally LP 5.1 OTA hit the brazillian markets a couple of days back
We can expect to hit all other markets in couple to weeks.
Now things we need to know for successfully installing the OTAs when it finally arrives in our regions
** I'm expecting all of you(reading this) are rooted with locked or unlocked bootloader **
*If you are not rooted, you are set, stop reading and count clocks before it hits your region*
Now whether you are have locked or unlocked bootloader, I'm guessing you have Custom Recovery installed (TWRP,CWM, etc).
and might or might not be running a Custom ROM.
For both the cases, you can never successfully install OTA when it arrives cause it has a pre validation check, which will fail if it recognizes anything other than stock is installed.
For more info :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59524348&postcount=324
AND NEVER TRY TO DOWNGRADE CAUSE IT WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE OR SET IT UP FOR BRICKING LATER (IF IT DOESN'T BRICK, WHEN TRY TO INSTALL OTA IT SURELY WILL)

More Info
So, it narrows down to a particular question " What should be done if we want to install the OTA when it arrives.? "
This is what you need to do :
Flash Stock ROM (if you are using Custom ROM) and Stock Recovery and then download the OTA and give it go....
** its good if you install both Stock ROM & Recovery, cause you might knowing or unknowingly tampered your system partition by installing/experimenting with several modules and framworks (xposed for eg) **
which by the way raises the following follow up question :
Q : Where to find Stock ROM ZIP file and how to install it.?
A : For this, first you need to know which Model of Moto X are you using and download the same and the flash it.
For getting to know and downloading the your region specific ROM zip file please vist ;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/info-tip-web-sites-official-leaked-roms-t2923347
and for the flashing guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/guide-moto-x-return-to-100-stock-using-t2446515
Please go through and read carefully to both the threads, and you will find yourself happy with LP 5.1 when it finally comes.
I have no hands in making the links mentioned, all this is done by spending hours of research time by these people.. *Say Thanks to Them*.. I just accumulated the data to provided a one thread solution.

I haven't posted this cause, its not the official OTA installation thing, its just restoring a TWRP backup. which in case has many bugs (eg speaker phone, Network selection etc.)
I also admit that there is no contribution from me, in creation of the links I've posted, I just accumulated the data for myself, in thought that, when the OTA hits my region, this would help me going back to stock.
I made this thread thinking that, if in some way I could also help others who are looking for a solution for this.
The tips posted in -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/faq-kit-kat-how-to-prepare-carriers-t2536735 still apply for Lollipop...

How to downgrade ZC520TL from N to M

Hello all,
this is my first post on XDA so I hope I am doing everything according to the rules. If I do something wrong, apologies and I will do better next time.
So, I recently purchased a Zenfone 3 MAX in the US in a hurry out of necessity. So I was quite annoyed to find out that ASUS has hidden the ability to format the SD card as internal memory. However I found out there is a way to un-hide the feature via adb. But the procedure I found is tested to work with Marshmallow, and I had already updated the phone to Nougat. Indeed, the adb command has had no effect on my phone.
So, now I am trying to downgrade back to Marshmallow. I am definitely a newbie to this world, but I have been able to find this (https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-3/help/how-to-downgrade-zenfone-3-nougat-to-t3573241) thread, which contains a link to a downgrading procedure (https://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-164531-1-3.html). However, it is not for ZC520TL but for ZE520KL.
I was hoping I could use the same procedure for my phone, if I find the right firmware, but I am not sure I have been looking in the right places. The ASUS website has various firmware versions for the US and I assume the oldest one is Marshmallow (Version US-13.1.4.43), but the procedure above requires two different firmware files and I do not know enough to understand what is the difference and where I can find them.
Anyone can shed some light on this for me?
Thank you

Ask for it. A user in Canada obtained the downgrade. Please write in this thread and share it.

Thanks for your reply.
I have looked at the thread you linked, but I could not see any reference to someone successfully getting their phone downgraded to M by Asus. If anything some people in there stress how unhelpful is Asus with the whole thing. So I am not any closer to the solution than I was before.

Thanks for the link. I have looked around and found a firmware for the ZC520TL. However I am not sure it is the right one for me because it is my understanding that I need a firmware whose name starts with UL, rather than WW. I am not sure what would happen if I used firmware of a different zone. Moreover, I have been able to recover the right firmware from the ASUS website. What I need is the "RAW firmware" as defined in the procedure I have linked in my original post. But I don't know how that is different from the firmware. As I said, I am very new to this world.

WW stands for global firmware, however I am not sure what UL is for. You can contact the person in that website asking for your firmware. They will help.

help blocked at startup htc after update

Hello
I write because following an update yesterday htc u ultra my companion he does not want to start it is blocked on htc and becomes very hot!
I tried several things seen on xda but there I am completely blocked.
I have access to different things, booloader, recoverry, etc ... but nothing changes I did a factory reset but the problem does not evolve
I tried to flash it with a ROM ruu but he told me that it is not the good CID. taken here https://forum.xda-developers.com/u-...stock-htc-ultra-dual-sim-1-64-400-10-t3758077
after i have an idea but i do not know if this is possible i have access to someone who has the same phone bought at the same place at the same time is it possible to extract the RUU rom to reinject it into that of my wife ???
I am hopeless we leave in 8 days and my wife finds herself without phone can you m help me to find the good RUU or extract that of my friend to reinject it?
the model is this one https://www.eglobalcentral.fr/htc-u-ultra-64go-4g-dual-sim-desimlocke-blanc-fr.html
apparently it's a Taiwanese model double sim
thanks for all the help !!
PS it was all original not rooted nor bootloaded unlocked just the update ota do
It would be better if you post the threads links properly, yours got truncated.
If you have, as you claim, the Taiwanese Dual SIM model you should be able to follow the downgrade procedure from Oreo to Nougat. I did it multiple times.
You cannot extract RUU. It is specially prepared package that performs several upgrade operations separately. You can only make dump of already installed system but for that you do need an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery (TWRP) on both devices.

sorry i corrected the links.
on the other hand I can do this procedure despite that I have access only to bootloader and recovery?
I'm not an expert I thought I can just flash with a RUU but I can not find one

It seems to me you have got yourself a wrong RUU. The ones from the post are for India, not Taiwan.
Surely I can not get my hands on a Taiwanese RUU!
do you know where can I find a link?

We don't have RUU 8.0. Try boot to download mode and flash TWRP recovery. Downgrade to Nougat (7.0).
