Mobile takes more time to charge? - Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 Questions & Answers

My device is taking more time to get full charge. Is anyone experiencing the same.is there any way to improve the charging

My device is taking around 3 hrs to charge fully which is quite normal as given it has 5000 mAh battery and no fast charging. Only way to improve could be to switch off and then charge or not use phone while charging. Disabling cellular data and WiFi may also help.

In my first time charge, i leave it charging when i sleep, but when i wake up my phone just have 82% battery, it takes 7 hour charge when i sleep, i realize that my mistake was not plug in perfectly the usb cable to charger adaptor, shame on me LOL
When it plug perfectly the charging time may 2,8 - 3 hours to 100%
*Sorry for my bad English*

Does it show "Charging Rapidly" state on the lock screen?
On my Anker triple ports QC2.0 charger, 2 of the normal ports 5V2.4A are able to "induce" my M2 phone to go into "Charging Rapidly" state. It only happens after plugging in for a few mins; if plug into the QC2.0 5V2A port it doesn't display "Charging Rapidly", just shows the normal "charging". Another of my QC3.0 charger 5V3A is also able to do this while other chargers I tried from 1.8A-2A range can't get this "Charging Rapidly" state. Is it possible that the M2 only support "fast charging" on 2.1A and above chargers?

No... Actually the speed of charging also depends on the current... If you current is 2A, then it automatically shows charging rapidly...
If you use any other charger with a lower ampere rating, then the phone will automatically detect that the current is low and it is charging slower...

Its just a suggestion... Dont use the S5 charger even if it charges faster... It voltage is 5.3v ... Voltage should always be 5v ... It will destroy your battery in the long term...

Yes ... You can... But your phone will probably heat up a lot.... And long exposure to higher temperatures might slowly degrade your battery...
Only use this charger in emergency cases...

Why do you say it will heat up a lot? Phones nowadays should have protection circuit to limit current, right? For my M2 I don't see any difference in using 5V2A or 5V3A adapter.

I might be wrong... Of course they have protection circuits ... I have another phone Galaxy E5. It also should have a protection circuit or whatever...
Its charger is rated 5V 1.55A... But when I use a 5V 2A charger, the phone starts heating up...
Though it happens only while charge is less than 100...
Upon reaching 100% it cools down...

Overnight charging on AC

My G1 after I put him on charger goes till 100% and than act like it is not connected to any charger.
Like today it got to 100% and in the morning was on 98%.
I use AC wall charger for Motorola V3.
people tells me that is no problem, should be the same with miniUSB connected to PC.
I believe the default charing behavior of most rechargeable devices is
charge to 100% stop charging until the % is lower then a defined %
then charge to 100% once more
Do not use a moto V3 charger to charge your G1. It charges at a lower voltage and could effect your battery life. Use the one that came with the phone, another HTC charge or a blackberry charger. They all charge at the same voltage.
The only thing I see is the V3 charger has a lower amperage rating whereas the charger that came with the phone is capable of putting out 1A. It might be sending data at night and using more power than the V3 charger can put out.
First night I had my phone I had wifi and gps on with full screen brightness hooked up to the USB on my desktop PC and I was actually draining the battery while it was "charging" It's a power hungry phone when it wants to be. I would look into finding the factory charger.

usb can only charge at most usually 5v. Any miniusb charger will work for it, it wont overcharge it, it will only undercharge it. "smart circuits" if you will, tell the phone to shut off at a full charge, and like previous posts, to stop charging it, and when it reaches said threshold (98 percent) it will charge it, basically maintaining charge, without overcharging alltogether.

Fast Charging

So I decided to download ampere to see how the charging performs. These are the results
Galaxy charger : 1050mA | lockscreen says fast charging.
Genuine Nexus 6p charger : 1050mA | lockscreen says normal charging.
So this is wierd, both charging exactly at the same speed, both are not fast. My 6p on good days can draw 2500mA.
Any thoughts? Share your results!
The ampere app support native current reading in S8 or just estimation?
I did test the charging with the USB voltage/current meter (like this)
With a charger support QC2.0 or above, AND when screen is off, it's [email protected] ~ 11W, stating "fast charging".
With normal high current general USB charger (5V 2.4A rated), it will do [email protected] ~ 9W, stating "charging".
Whenever screen is on, it's [email protected] ~ 5W, with any of those chargers.
I was not able to meter the native USB-C charger from the Nexus 6P, though.

This X2
I had the very same thing happened to me with Ampere and ended up checking with AccuBattery and it showed me a maximum of 1,850mA at some point, but still its 1,050mA max when the screen is on.
This number was recorded using a RAVPower 40W 8A 4-Port USB that can deliver 2.4A per port. I don't really use the original chargers but my tests showed me the same 1,050mA with the screen on.
The S7, and S8 all were charging with a max of 5 Watt (about 1.000mA) when the Screen is on.
Faster Charging is only possible when the screen is of or only showing the AOD.
Fast charging is only 82% of the battery.

2 Hour With Stock Charger
I didn't completely check the ratings and time but stock charger DOES NOT fast charge this phone. as the Stock Charger isnt QC2.0 Supported. However this mobile does support QC2.0 but you'll have to test QC2.0 Charger 1st. Not all QC2.0 Chargers work on this mobile. Its a little picky. So go to a shop check QC2.0 Chargers on your mobile. when you get circle Sign on notification bar along side battery then it means that device is fast charging. if not then there will be no circle around the charging sign (Flash sign)
also idt this mobile supports QC3.0 but i dont have tools to check amps volts of charger.
Lenovo's original QC3.0 charger doesnt work on this phone. I've tested. but Motorola's QC3.0 Charger works fine.
my rn5 pro , takes apporx 3 hours to charge completely!
So far I'm a bit slow, a little bit more than 3 hours to completely charge the phone. Might have something to do with the cable.
My current charging setup:
- ANKER 5 port 40W
- a docomo USB cable
Planning to buy a proper 20AWG usb cable and a QC2.0 adapter.
I just bought a Letv charger which supported qc3.0 for about 4$ on taobao
I'm currently on the 9.5.11 build and it takes about 4-5 hours to completely charge the device using stock charger, And it took about 2-3 hours while on 9.2 build.
I wonder if the Mi QC 3.0 based charger would improve the situation for us?

Slow charge is a known bug in 9.5.11 build. Wait for an update or change ROM
13,2W for me
I recieved 9.2.13 update yesterday and have been noticing significant boost to charging speeds since then...yet to fully charge from 0 so can't comment on total time but as per Ampere, charging speeds are in range of 1500 to 1700 mah
1000 mA max with 5v 2amp and Work Normal Speed with Stock Charger
Approximately 2 hour for charge phone
I use the app Ampere (free in Playstore) to measure power input and with a normal charger (non QC) it shows up to 1600 mAh charging amount and from almost 0 to 100% it is taking 2,5 hours. One question: is there a way to tell if QuickCharge is active?
@Kusie
Look on your"s phone status bar. With normal charging there is thunder icon next to the battery. With QC active, thunder in in circle as far as I remember. Info about active QC should be also displayed in the bottom of your lockscreen

I have no idea why would you do that... But read reviews, no matter what kind of charger you use, this phone only supports qc 2.0 version. From 0 to 100, in 1 hour, you only get like 55%, and in the end it slows down even more, so yes, impossible to fully charge in 1.5h, TECHNICALLY IMPOSSIBLE. You are either lying, or mixed times and got confused. Judging by technical parameters, the best this phone can do should be around 2hours from 0 to 100.

I just posted above that I was able to get QC 3.0 charging rates. Approximately 2.2A (fluctuates +/- 0.1A) and 6.6v (fluctuates +/- 0.2v) using a QC 3.0 charger and Tronsmart cable. Measured using an inline meter, not software.

From mathematical standpoint 30 mins for 0-100% is impossible with 18W charger, let me make it a bit clear
It has a 3.800mAh battery or 3.8Ah for short, which means if it had a 5v 3.8A charger it would take 1 hour if the charger and delivery system(cable+chips inside phone etc) were delivering 100% efficiency. Now 5v 3.8A is 19W charger. For half an hour we need 5v 7.6A or 38Watt.
According to Quick charge which is present in this phone it can be charged at 9v 2A or 18W, so even if the phone has 100% efficiency it would take a bit more than 1 hour to complete 0-100% but because each system can't deliver 100% efficiency calculate to 1hr and 1-20 mins give or take
P.S. half an hour, wish but ain't possible unless we have 9v 4.2A charging with 100% efficiency(or 5v 7.6A if you prefer) - Still going to get this phone soon(if price drops to my desire)

Yes OnePlus 3T, 5T does not work.
Also I was charging N7+ from 18% via LG V20's Charger and it got overheated and started malfunctioning. But thankfully there was a circuit breaker and protection circuit in LG's Charger which saved it. Device is working fine too. Now I am using the nokia charger provided in the box as none are working.

Yes, i use mine from a tablet at 5v and 1.5A. You can use any charger if it is 5v or if it is turbopower o fastcharge.
I also use my old LG's charger. 5v @1.8A. Im not really that into charging speed. One thing i noticed is that on both chargers when reaching 100% it says charged but still charges for another 15minutes before the charging icon (flash) disappears from the screen. Has anyone else noticed this?

I have two power delivery charger both capable to charge up to 60w. When I connect phone to both charges doesn't matter which one and which cable I use currently it always display fast charging text and icon. Why it doesn't go on turbo charging? If I know the phone support qc 4.0 and PD and it should turbo charge on my chargers, right? Anyway I noticed 3300-3600 mAh however it doesn't really look charge as fast as in reviews.
Some people reported 4A but according to qc 4.0 specification it's rather about 3A at 9A. What's the real charging voltage for our Xeromi?

I tried a Belkin 27W QC 4.0 charger(attached), Macbook Air 30W original Charger and one more 45W Type-C charger.
But non of them shows Turbo Charging. Not even the Quick Charging message comes up when using the original 18W charger.

I tried a Belkin 27W QC 4.0 charger(attached), Macbook Air 30W original Charger and one more 45W Type-C charger.
But non of them shows Turbo Charging. Not even the Quick Charging message comes up when using the original 18W charger.

Do you have pubg installed & would it be possible for you to check charging current while game is running in foreground please?
Also btw my charger also has a 5v&3A mode so that's why it was showing ~2.8A

The phone charges at 300-500ma when using pubg even when using a 18w qc3 charger which normally charges at 2800ma. Anyone else facing this bug?

It's not a bug i guess... Its a OS thing .. some custom rom uses the force fast charge option... Then the phone will charge fast even we use the phone or play games.. but in stock roms they disabled the force fast charge thing... So when in idle, phone charges around 3000mah but when using the phone it comes down to around 1000mah or even lower while playing games
