AI Camera in Realme 2 Pro: Where is scene? - Realme 2 pro Questions & Answers

Hello,
I am a new User in ColorOS world, I was a Xiaomi User for long time. But recently I have bought RealMe 2 Pro considering it's Good configuration. But I must say that ColorOS sucks! Good Configuration kind of lost by Poor quality OS.
I have seen that RealMe 2 Pro Camera interface missing AI Scene option like Xiaomi phones. is there any way to bring AI scene back? Like- When I shoot a puppy, it will show a dog icon etc. There is only an AI option in Beauty Mode settings. Where is AI scene?
Thanks in advance.

Ai detection is present in Realme 2 pro but it's capability is limited.
You can notice icons while shooting @ certain condition like a night mode icon while taking shots at night etc.

But, everytime the scene detection doesn't work properly. Like in the image its nowhere closer to the actual image.

Best camera for redmi 3 pro

Hi,
I have a redmi 3 pro( 3gb, octacore) I always thought the camera was pretty poor, until recently deciding to turn on, HDR mode. These took a brilliant pic, but only in really great lighting.
My questions are, firstly, which is the best camera app to use with this phone
and also, is there anyway i can get the phones torch and HDR mode to use simultaneously?
Many thanks

API2 will be available for mi a2

Miui 10 got update with new camera APIs which is gonna be there for all. It is available in China now. I am sure Mi A2 will also get it in coming updates... Then we can enjoy the camera of This phone properly... Please correct if this news is wrong.
MIUI and Google One do not have anything in common, so I can not connect your expectation as relevant.

Right, well I don't know what your situation is with modding your Mi A2, but I discovered that after you've unlocked the bootloader & installed Magisk Root that if the flash this "MiUi Camera All Features" Magisk Module from another thread, this enables The Full level 3 Camera 2 API:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/themes/miui-camara-features-magisk-t3841269
This is a fantastic upgrade over the stock MiA2 camera app in itself. Xiaomi basically gimped the camera's features, as to not upstage much more expensive Xiaomi phones and this releases them such as 4k30p front video recording and enhanced HDR Pro Modes which work brilliantly.
However, the upshot of flashing this enabling Camera 2 is amazing for this reason. Just today I've been testing @Arnova8G2 's port of the Pixel 3 app and the HDR+ Enhanced is next level stuff. Portrait mode, front & back ,is also working fine. RAW file capture is also working. Gonna test out Nightsight tonight. You get a green screen through the viewfinder, but the shots do actually work. Only thing not working for me is slow mo....

Google said that the camera2api is coming with Android Pie. It is not present in the current beta but it might be later.

If you're referring to the 'Camera 2 API Will be enabled in android Pie CONFIRMED' thread, then the following is exactly what was said:
"Starting with Android Pie, newly launching devices are expected to have newer camera HAL versions, which will enable better support for camera2."
Does that include the A2? Because it's not a "newly launching device". And the statement implies, imho, it will be newly launching devices that launch with Pie.
That's not the A2. I wish they would enable it. but that statement above is a reach to believe "Google said that the camera2api is coming with Android Pie". they said newly launching, not upgraded to.
If Xiaomi giving camera 2 API in miui 10 update to its all phone then there is no reason that Xiaomi will not give it to mi A2. I am pretty confident that with the demand and competition Xiaomi will provide this feature to this device shortly.
Don't create a thread affirming something that you have no proof of.
Google is expanding their camera development, and that is the one of the main parts and improvements of PIE it self, to support multi cameras for example, you can read all about that on the official Android PIE page, but that doesn't mean nothing for us, unfortunately.
"Multi-camera support and camera updates
On devices running Android 9, you can access streams simultaneously from two or more physical cameras. On devices with either dual-front or dual-back cameras, you can create innovative features not possible with just a single camera, such as seamless zoom, bokeh, and stereo vision. The API also lets you call a logical or fused camera stream that automatically switches between two or more cameras.
Other improvements in camera include additional Session parameters that help to reduce delays during initial capture, and surface sharing that lets camera clients handle various use cases without the need to stop and start camera streaming. We've also added APIs for display-based flash support and access to OIS timestamps for app-level image stabilization and special effects.
In Android 9 the multi-camera API supports monochrome cameras for devices with FULL or LIMITED capability. Monochrome output is achieved via the YUV_420_888 format with Y as grayscale, U (Cb) as 128, and V (Cr) as 128.
Android 9 also enables support for external USB/UVC cameras on supported devices."

I have Mi A1, they haven't even provided the new camera app of MIUI 10, you are expecting too much, otherwise disappointment is sure.
Guys, by my post I am not affirming anything. I read some news about camera 2 API being enabled by Xiaomi for all its phones by miui 10 update and that has already been released for China.. so I am just trying to say that the probability of getting camera 2 API for this phone are very high now. In android pie or in coming updates we could get it. So no affirmative post but high probability post. Thanks

He's right. I saw the thread too in mi community. If Xiaomi enables c2api to Miui devices there's no doubt that they won't enable it to Mi a2

The mods won't bother to change something you can change yourself.
Bring up the original thread, click edit, then click 'Advanced'.
It will then allow you to change the title.

Software (ease of use, features, etc)

When you hand your phone to granny to take a photo of you, can she get the job done? Rate this thread to express how you deem the Huawei P30 Pro's camera software. A higher rating indicates that the software is easy to use, fast, uncluttered, and inclusive of advanced features for when you need them.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
In fact, Huawei has done a great job in bringing up few additional features and optimizing the camera on P30 pro. Wide angle dual window, 50X zoom are just couple of additions.

I had a Google pixel 2xl before switching to the p30 pro. Before that I had either nexus phones or Samsung Galaxy phones. I have a strong preference for stock android Vs manufacturers muddling with android. After messing about with the p30 for s couple of hours I have a fairly close to stock experience So it is possible to get a google stock feel Vs EMUI. I moved away from pixel as allot of the promised features such as call screening have still to make it to the UK. Plus the notch on the pixel 3 XL is far to big. Could not bring my self to purchase it.. yuck. Tear drop is just about bearable especially when using dark theame which I think was switched on in the power settings.
So you can get an android stock feel from the Huawei and this is from someone who used to be a dedicated nexus / pixel boy. I wish manufacturers would concentrate on getting the hardware correct Vs messing with the software.
The camera app itself looks a little dated from the vs the pixel. I prefer Google's camera app. However as soon as you use the zoom function wow. The UI is not important. The feature is a game changer for a phone. Massive step forward and it is so easy to use.
How near to stock?

Hi just curious as to what you used to get the P30 Pro as near to stock as you could?
I am using Nova Launcher on a Oneplus 3T with Google Contacts and Dialer installed (non root) and it's great, but due an upgrade.Do you miss the double press power button to open the camera?
And is it possible to use normal OSD navigation buttons?

You can double tap the volume down button and it opens the camera (default is take a picture).
Coming from Note 8 running OneUI I can certainly say that Samsung with one UI is much more refined and easy to use as compared to EMIUI 9.1.0. One hand usage of the phone isn't so great as most of the options are still located at the top of the screen, unlike one UI. and sadly even the camera UI isnt as refined as the one UI, of course the quality of p30 pro camera is beyond a match. Also there is a weird bug no matter how many times I disable an app like gmail or drive or any other google service if there is any update the app will pop up on my home screen once again.
If the screen is off i can use fingerprint sensor properly. . If i go into the lockscreen its working only with the pin method and no fingerprint are accepted. Is there an option to disable this or its a bug?
resolution of the camera
Hello everyone
I bought a Huawei P30 pro 3 days ago and I wonder why with a 40MP camera we can not take pictures in 16: 9 when holding the phone horizontally
We only have 40MP in 4:3
the full screen format is only available with 6MP
today all screens are 16: 9, if we look at our pictures on the TV we would like to display them in full screen and not with black stripes on each side
I don't understand

Redmi K30 Pro Zoom achieve 120 on dxomark

Finally, Dxomark have a full review about us K30 Pro /Zoom. Yes, Zoom is not exactly the same as K30 Pro/Poco F2 Pro, but almost the same (changing telephoto with macro and OIS)
https://www.dxomark.com/xiaomi-redmi-k30-pro-zoom-edition-camera-review/
No bad after all.
I agree that the ultra angle is the weakest point and that in night mode it could be squeezed a little more. Even so, it is surprising that if it were valued only in a still image, it could possibly be in the top 5.
I think that there is still room to earn the odd extra point with future updates, there are defects that are solvable by software, such as smoothing and loss of texture on some occasions, or even slightly improve the automatic parameters for the ultra-wide angle
In the video section the F2 Pro should lose some point due to the lack of OIS, but in its favor it must be said that EIS does an exceptional job
What do you think?
Yeah that was nice news but would be nice to know how this Poco F2 Pro will get scores
I've been using K30 Pro Zoom Edition and One Plus 8 Pro what i can say is DONT TRUST DXOMARK ?

Similar. Poco lack of Tele lens but Macro lens is almost the best in his class. OIS could make some point on video, not to much. So final score should be very similar.

My brother have a OP8 Pro, and honestly, my Poco make in general better shots and videos (in Stock camera), with GCam are a lot of better (I personally like the more "sharp" of the GCam, although I admit that this is more a matter of what one likes)
I have a good friend who always repeats the same thing. The camera of course matters, as does the software. But more than 50% is still the one behind the camera. Automatic modes are good for taking quick photos and not worrying, But if you want an exceptional result, manual mode is a must to have, and of course knowing what you are doing.

Ofc it matters who is behind cam but my opinion is that software is most important in cameras. Google is good for that. You can put what camera sensors you want and what photographer to use it but if software is ****, results are ****. And nowadays its very often that normal users are testing the software but i must say that if you clean lens and its sunny day, and you take photo with poco f2 pro, you get very sharp results. but let see what gcam brings in future..
EDIT: stock cam i mean, please take shots and compare it. Gcam is not better? zoom and look details..
Brighter is stock cam and darker is gcam latest urnyx.
Gcam on K30 Ultra?
ok, so K30 Pro Zoom scored high, has OIS, and has the 865 which means it should be able to use Gcam if I can source the Zoom version of the phone? But the K30 Ultra has Mediatek 1000, which means no Gcam right?

IMHO, it seems that stock camera is a bit bluffed by the darker zones of the centre, while the Gcam seems more indifferent to that zones.
This can happen also on SLR cams.
Urnyx is now making a crowd funding to get a poco F2 and improve his Gcam.

OIS can make a huge difference in photo, specially in low light.
IMO the F2 Pro wouldn't be close to the K30 Pro Zoom DXOMark rate

I love Nightshots, and i have a huge gallery with only night/Sky shots. I assure you that it has nothing to envy to the "premium" range terminals. In fact, for me, in night photography (on this device) there is only one small problem, and that is that the glass that protects the lenses is very prone to causing flares when you have a couple of bright light sources and you place one of them in the center. Luckily it can be easily avoided the most time.
As a note, the vast majority of my night photos are handheld, using only the tripod with 2+ seg exposures, generally if I want to take astronomical, or more artistic photos in quiet environments
This doesn't mean much. The camera optimization is different amongst the Mi series, the Redmi series and the Poco series. It seems like the Redmi team did a good job on optimizing the camera on the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom, unlike the Poco team on the Poco F2 Pro.

Bad choice Oppo, going all in with the IMX766

*Spoiler alert, grumpy post ahead*
Had many cameraphones in the past, but the choice that Oppo made running along with the IXM766, the sensor is disappointing in every aspect, like, come on! 1.56" sensor with 1.0 microns?! Seriously?!
Camera quality is noisy day or night.
Photos are over exposed.
hdr mode is a joke, the Pixel 6 and 6A murdering this phone blindfolded.
Portrait mode is like storm trooper trying to hit a tank 2 meters away and still miss the target.
Using video mode killing both battery and heats up the device badly, even without tapping the Record button the phone heats up..
Macro mode not kick's in automatically.
Using the Pro mode showing same results
Thought that upgrading to Android 13 will do any better but nothing was changed in the camera department...shame..
I have the Oppo Find X5 btw..
Came to see in the forum if other people are having such a worse camera experience with this phone as me.
This phone is the perfect textbook example of "doesn't matter how many/or high quality camera sensors you put in a phone, if the software is crap, the whole experience is crap".
Instead of making such a marketing about this "Marisilicone x" thing and other technical crap advertisement, Oppo could have spend this time more useful in the camera software development.
I'm surprised to say that my 7T Pro takes a lot better photo's than this phone.
My opinion of course...
Had Xiaomi Mi 11 before the Oppo and the Pixel, it actually demolishes the Oppo in every aspect.
With GCAM? it's perfect!
The Oppo does not have a proper GCAM either...

I really enjoy speed and fast charging, but just had p30 pro come back from repair and night photography destroyed x5 pro..., tried so many different setting, options, nothing help to come even close, I really hope future updates will fix this issue, now I am thinking what to do as p30 pro got brand new battery, motherboard and latest november patch.., should I keep it and sell x5 pro or other way...
that bad, I hoped it would be good
HDR is really a joke, for the price paid it seems like a bad joke... so far no update
