USB-C audio in 9.0 update - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hello y'all,
I recently discovered by accident that when I tried plugging in my PS4 controller through the USB-C port the phone was showing headphones icon in the status bar. And sure enough, the audio wasn't coming from the phone. So can anyone test this out since I don't have any USB-C headphones, but I always wanted them.
Thanks to anyone participating in this test.
Write your results here.

Audio through USB-C works at least since Android 8.1. I've USB-C mini DAC (Hidizs Sonata HD) and works perfectly. Also I tested Nobsound NS-10g USB input via USB host adapter and also works. So, isn't a new feature of 9.0 update, if you are thinking so.

I've been using fulla schiit 2, usb audio works on 8.1

Actually yes, I was thinking it's new because when I tried my friends USB C headphones it didn't respond.
But thank you for clarifying me! Your response is appreciated.

Does your Hidizs Sonata work also with Android Pie? I've just got Sonata II and it works only if I connect it within one minute after reboot. After that the phone ignores it and acts like nothing has been connected (but the phone is powering the dongle as I see increased draw in logcat and hear a very faint click in the headphones). So if I want to listen via Sonata, I must connect it first and reboot the phone, then it works perfectly. I tried all the available firmwares for Sonata, it does the same with all of them. With the PC or Huawei phone it works whenever I connect the dongle, so it most probably isn't faulty USB DAC, but rather something in the phone. Also I'm missing the option "Audio source" in the USB options in the phone's settings completely, if it makes any difference/sense.

Yes, my unit works perfectly with Android Pie, stock and custom ROM. What build are you using? Maybe something is corrupt

I'm no stock Android Pie, tried the adapter with February patch. Unfortunately adapter just stopped working with all of my devices (got really hot and then died completely), so can't verify with March update.
I'm going to visit an Apple store and try their USB-C - 3.5mm adapter, it is being said to be of a very high quality and is just 10USD/EUR and available locally, so I don't have to wait more than a month for delivery of another Hidizs from China.

Apple dongle behaves the same. Working when connected within ~1 minute after reboot, won't work on later (re)connection. I tried a different kernel to no avail. Would love to know why is it happening.
Edit: it happens that I'm forgetful, see explanation below

Oh my.. I'm stupid guys, I totally forgot that I configured recommended workaround "disable USB host" for 70000.USB wakelock couple of months ago. It was running one minute after boot via Tasker, no wonders I was experiencing this. Dongle works completely fine now (except of volume buttons on the Apple DAC). Sorry for stupid confusion.

UG007 ii - rooted, running great

I got a UG007 ii from Amazon for $50. I ordered the original version UG007 but got the one with two microUSB ports, research shows it is the UG007 ii. Very lucky to get a free upgrade, but after reading some other forums also very lucky to not get a *clone*. After reading about clones, and ordering problems, I can report complete success and happiness.
Not many thorough guides and lots of random stabs at getting rooted. Some of the downloads set off my Avira anti virus which was bad, so anything not totally clean was deleted and not used.
DRIVERS: Getting the drivers to work on Window 7 x64bit took some searching and work. I was surprised that both microUSB ports will supply power to the UG007, but only the microUSB next to the microSD slot will work for adb. Also, there is an extra USB section in the settings that allows your device to communicate (at all) with the PC. Wrapping my head around the fact the UG007 ii device defaults to supporting multiple USB host ports, it makes sense there is a switch to reverse the defaults for connecting to a PC. Twisted brain stuff. LOL.
ROOT: Many various methods exist. I found only one root method that worked, and all others I tested failed. After the drivers are working, it is very easy to root using TPSarky-VonDroid-Root.zip. I really like this method installs SuperSU, and I updated it via the market afterwards. I verified root successfully, loaded busybox and terminal emulator via the marketplace.
RECOVERY: I update.zip installed a CWM recovery successfully. The xda member fun_ has this great post for RK3066 devices. Follow the links to CWM-based Recovery images for RK3066 devices and download the UG007_CWM.zip for Ugoos UG007. Aterwards just rename to update.zip and push to /sdcard and install.
During this whole process I used a USB keyboard with small touch pad for *mouse*. The CWM recovery only works with keyboard, but I could have used only a USB mouse on drivers and root setup, because the device has an onscreen keyboard.
Overall the device works great. There are some cons:
First: There appears to be no microphone nor record ability with the stock ROM. I tried lots of bluetooth headsets which play music and movies fine but the microphones failed. I ordered and will try an external USB soundcard dongle later.
Second: There is a security problem because the screen never locks nor sleeps, with one random exception (clicking on items in notifications). The workaround for security is a wonderful application "Smart Lock Free" and its widget to lock/unlock all with one click.
Nothing else really bothers me, so I must say this device is an exciting Android Stick Computer.
Model: rk30sdk
Android version: 4.1.1
Kernel version: 3.0.8+ [email protected] #169 SMP PREEMPT Thu Dec 20 18:07:08 CST 2012

UPDATE ONE: The device is available on Amazon and others. Search for "UG007 ii", verify 2 microUSB ports, verify Android 4.1.1, verify looks same as below:
Afunta(tm) Bluetooth Ug007 Mini Pc Android 4.1 Google Tv Dongle Dual Core Cortex A9 Wifi 1080p RAM 1gb+rom 8gb+3d (2 Micro USB Slots)
Price $56.99 USD from afunta-mall
or
New Version Bluetooth Ug007 II Mini PC Android 4.1.1 Google TV Dongle Dual Core Rockchip 3066 Cortex A9 Wifi 1080p RAM 1GB+ROM 8GB
Price $62.48 USD from geekbuying.com
The above are just two vendor examples, looks exactly like mine. There are many other good vendors. The geekbuying.com guys are interesting because on their website they released a 4.2.2 ROM for this stick. There are also many bad vendors and clones which look different and are not UG007 ii. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.
UPDATE TWO: I have now tested three USB sound cards. The only working USB soundcard, that survives a reboot still working, is the Syba SD-CM-UAUD USB Stereo Audio Adapter, C-Media Chipset, RoHS. With this USB soundcard the audio input (microphone) and output (speakers) work with the UG007 ii. See further information in next post.
I added the USB sound card. Now I am able to use a microphone on the UG007 ii. Great.
The (semi) working device is Syba SD-CM-UAUD USB Stereo Audio Adapter, C-Media Chipset, RoHS The microphone input works, audio output not.
UPDATE: Finally got audio input and output working with this device. Basically, plug and play is not always a reliable method. Instead reboot with device connected and audio in & out works.
I also got another fancy USB sound card from Syba that does not work for input nor output. This one finally worked. This one did **not** work for me. I did little troubleshooting.
UPDATE: After further testing I found this device also works, but sometimes crashes on plug and play. When I reboot with device connected the audio in & out works, and subsequent plug and play works. Typical problems are caused by plug and play device with recorder application open or music player open, or switching devices with plug and play without rebooting.
So, with a microphone connected on the first, I decided to try VOIP programs again. After installing Groove IP, same as before it crashed when launched. However, Talkatone works. It is complicated to get it working. Here is what I did:
Installed Talkatone, In the settings it gives under the *Phone* tab, I selected Call Settings. I changed Start Call on "normal". It was set to "BlueTooth (when available)", but I could never get the microphone working, listening with bluetooth headset and microphone input to the USB sound card. Bluetooth was wierd because I was able to hear on the headset with setting "Bluetooth (when available)" but neither the bluetooth nor USB sound card microphone input worked. Bluetooth devices never show in the Android Sound settings.
Under Android Settings, Sound, Sound Devices Manager. With the above USB sound card connected the options are:
Talkatone working configuration:
Sound input devices: USB PnP Sound Device (***selected)
Sound output devices:
ROCKCHIP HDMI (***selected)
USB PnP Sound Device (not selected)
Note: I switched my audio OUT setting to HDMI and connected a speaker to the back of my HDMI monitor. You, like me, are probably now saying WTF. Yes? While the microphone is working on USB PnP Sound Device it seems the audio output does not work on either of my USB sound cards. However, with Talkatone setup Start Call on normal, the HDMI audio output works with the microphone input on USB PnP Sound Device. LOL
UPDATE: If you reboot with USB sound card connected you can use USB PnP Sound Device output. But, plug-n-play may kill your output until reboot with connected.
I run tests using Music player for audio output, and the Sound Recorder for input. The Sound Recorder application can be *found* on the stick computer in the /system/app folder. It is bundled with the device but I was unable to find a launch icon. Information on Sound Recorder is Version 4.1.1-eng.ant.20121212.085830 Once run, I can subsequently find & run again using search on "SoundRecorder". Also, in the Play market the Sound Recorder Shortcut by Kayan Nurav gives an icon as a fix to launch Sound Recorder.
Using these configurations I can successfully make Talkatone voice calls with the UG007 ii. My voice quality depends on microphone sensitivity. The sound out via HDMI to speakers sounds perfect.
There are still some annoyances. After reboot or re-plugging the USB sound card: if you want Rockchip HDMI output the Android settings need to be fixed (as shown above). I frequently test sound output using the music player and test input with sound recorder because of frequent sound input and/or output failures requiring me to reboot. Definitely a work in progress, yet interesting.
UPDATE: Finally got audio input and output working with these devices. Basically, plug and play is not a good method. Instead reboot with device connected and audio in & out works. I tested a third USB sound card where audio input/microphone does *not* ever work. If you find some, please post further examples of working USB soundcards in this thread.

No, it does nothing with power plugged only. I must first plug HDMI and then power to get boot.

can you please do me a favor (im asking because not connecting to tv avoids extra electricity costs, since android can be controlled trough airdroid)
connecting the HDMI cable only to ug007ii and leave the other side hanging loose without connecting to TV

No. It does not power up when connected only to cable. But, if you turn off monitor and connect cable it does boot.
There is an old hack of putting resisters on DB15 video connectors and plugging into laptop external video ports. What this did was enable new screen resolutions on 1st generation netbook computers. It was something if done wrong could also ruin your video card. LOL
Thinking along the same lines there us surely some way to fake the HDMI monitor connection by hacking an HDMI plug.
Cant Wait
I just got the exact same unit you did I was expecting the UG007 cant wait to hook it up in the AM Thanks for all your postings it will be a great guideline for me.
Thanks Again
Thx, OP, for this thread~! It came in really handy after I purchased the UG007II and I was looking for a way to root and install CWM. I got this for mom for Mother's Day and she really loves it for watching Netflix shows & movies.
CWM for Official UGOOS 4.2.2 firmware
Has anyone else upgraded to the latest official 4.2.2 firmware? I have and it's very good. Smoother, faster, and everything still works, of course. I also got it rooted using the original method for the original Android 4.1.1 firmware.
But I'm having issues with CWM. I installed the original UG007 CWM through the Rockchip flash tool (as opposed to the update.zip method b/c it doesn't work with 4.2.2 anymore) but I can't actually create any Nandroids inside CWM. Things aren't being mounted & recognized correctly.
Does anyone know of any updated CWM recovery for 4.2.2?
i try everithing and cant connect to my pc de UG007 II

[Q] Audio over USB with Android 5.0

I know there have been threads in the past about the Nexus 4 not being able to support outputting audio over USB, but now that stock Android 5.0 supports it, can the Nexus 4 do it?
I'm using the factory 5.0 images and I have an external DAC/amp that I want to use (Fiio e18) that's made for Android, but nothing seems to happen when I hook it up. I've read posts that the Nexus 4 physically can't output power over it's USB, which is fine because the DAC has it's own battery source... but can it at least output the audio?
I started with the stock kernel, but also tried the latest Franco kernel (r214) with no luck. Also, I verified the DAC itself works by using it with my laptop. I'm hoping there's just some hidden setting or patch I need to apply to get it to work... Has anyone else tried this yet?

pls report your findings if you can make it happened!!
i can not help you with your problem but it is something that interest me too. i only can suggest to use a more feature enabled kernel like unleashed or hells core
pls report your findings if you make it work mate!
That's a good idea... unfortunately no dice with the latest unleashed kernel either (98u). It claims it supports USB OTG, so I was hoping that would be enough, but maybe there's more that needs to be done.

one thing that you might not know. nexus 4 does support usb otg BUT cannot provide electricity via usb. you must use a y cable and provide external power so you it might not be possible to use your DAC!
Thanks, I did know that, but I figured that since my DAC is self-powered (it has its own battery) that I wouldn't need to do the y-cable trick.
Worth a try though, I'm going to order one and see if I can at least get regular USB OTG to work. Maybe once that's working it'll be easier to troubleshoot the audio.
Just wanted to update, I got the Y OTG cable so I could have external power at the same time... but still doesn't work. This is with stock 5.0.1 and unleashed 98u kernel. I went into Synapse and enabled the OTG setting as well. DAC doesn't get recognized, and I tried a few free apps that are supposed to do OTG checks, but they all came back that nothing is attached.
Usb otg is one thing and uab audio out is another. USB otg means that you can connect an USB stick or external hdd to your phone ( with or without external power) USB AUDIO OUT need special circuits from your internal Dac to the USB. If those are not implemented you will never have USB audio out. This is something witch depends on the manufacturer ( S4 mini with snapdragon 400 don't work with USB otg or USB audio out, htc mini 2 M8 works perfectly with fiio E18 as a audio surce for external DAC). So if you really need USB audio out please next time do your homework and read before buying a phone. P.S. Htc mini 2 M8 has the best audio ever and really you don't need an external dac. If you need more power just use your fiio as an amplifier with your phone.
Maybe you could find for your phone a apecial kernel modified for better audio experience. Flash that and use your headphones.
Good luck!
Thanks, yeah I don't need usb audio out... I've had the phone for over 2 years and I still really like it, so no plans on getting a new one just for this.
I believe it's physically possible to do audio out on the N4... I've seen random posts about people getting it to work, but they've all been on custom ROM's based on 4.4.x stuff. I'd really rather not try to reproduce that since 5.0 is running so much better on my phone, and I was just hoping with the new native Android support it might work out of the box. But alas, it looks like google locked down 5.0 on the N4 - even USB OTG storage doesn't work unless you put a custom kernel like unleashed on.
In the meantime, I've just been using it as a headphone amp like you suggest and it's a big improvement.

Android Auto

Has anyone seen any compatibility info with the 6P and Android Auto? I am sure there should be none, but I don't know if the USB-C would make a difference. I haven't seen any Android Auto info at all for the new Nexus models.
Thx!
Doubt it would matter, USB is backwards compatible if it's micro you would just need an adapter.

Should hopefully work like normally, I'm gonna be using the USB-C to USB-A cable that comes in box for my car for Android Auto. Hopefully it works without any issues otherwise this would be a huge over site by Google and a huge deal-breaker for me because no way I'm not driving around with Android Auto (it has completely changed my commutes.)

Ive had no issues so far! Its been amazing! Ive just been using the USB-C to USB-A cable that came with the 6P. Its the perfect length for this kinda thing!
I haven't had any problem at all. That short adapter cable is the perfect size for this. I just bought another, longer cable to use at home.

Same here. I had my installer put the USB port in where the cigarette lighter plug was (I had two of these on my dash). So I bought a Brodit Proclip mount and the short USB OEM cable works great
What do you guys choose for a USB option when you plug in your device? I tried all the options and my car and AA app don't seem to recognize. Will try a new cable this afternoon.

That's not true. I'm using a USB A to C cable I ordered from Google and it works fine on a 4100NEX.
Thanks for the responses.
It ended up being a setting on my headunit that was incorrect. It was set by default to use MirrorLink and not Android Auto, switched it up and now works perfectly! :good:
Would like to reopen this discussion as I'm buying a VW Golf TSI 2016 that has a factory installed Android Auto unit. I tried it at the dealership and it was a pain to initially connect my N6P with original USB-C to USB-A cable. It did eventually work but I had to turn on debugging, remove my lock screen pattern/security (unit in the car was saying the phone was locked and it couldn't access it but it wasn't?) ... It ultimately worked but it was a pain to setup really (took over 10 minutes). And then Maps and phone worked, Google Music wouldn't had to unplug, force close Google Music and then replug and it worked ... I tried it in a 2016 Honda Civic too while shopping and fumbled around for 20+ minutes to get it to connect ; no luck. It bluetooth paired but it was like I hadn't plugged anything in the USB port.
Of note ; in both case I compared with iPhones/Car Play : plug it in and within 3 to 5 seconds, everything is setup.
I'd be curious to see if anyone here has experience with 2016 VWs and how easy (or hard) it is to get it to connect? If I have to fumble around in the settings for a few minutes everytime I get in the car, that's a major bummer. Will try again tonight before signing paperwork.

Sounds like an issue with VW. My Android Auto (non-VW), set up fine. And to this day, I can use Android Auto without disabling my pattern lock.

Ok so ended up buying the VW and Android Auto took some time to setup the first time around but nothing as painful as when I was at the dealership. So far, 98% of the time I plugged my phone in Android Auto started within 5 seconds or so. On 2 occasions it failed to launch. One time it was kind of stuck in a loop where it would connect via Bluetooth, disconnect, try to connect via USB, fail, reconnect via Bluetooth, disconnect (and start over again endlessly). I had to unplug it and restart the car for it to work but that happened only once so...
Everything works flawlessly and is well integrated with the VW infotainment system (Google Maps voice instructions will play on top of FM radio or Sirius XM and only lower the volume of whatever is playing a tadbit, I actually did not expect that (I was expecting the sound to cut completely and then come back once Google Maps is done telling me XYZ instruction)).
2016 Kia Optimia & N6P Connection Issues
Hello,
I have a new 2016 Kia Optima and I'm been fooling around with this for 2 weeks and I can't get it connected. Here's what I've done.
-tried different cables which includes the short one that was shipped with the unit
- factory reset of the device
- turned degging off and on
- uninstalled the android app
- turned wireless off and removed the connection (that's what the Kia rep told me to do)
The only thing that I get when connected it the options to choose what to do when connected via USB. I've toggle all of them and have toggled the off and on ADD new cars to android auto button till I'm blue in the face.
Right now I'm all out for suggestions. Does anyone have any idea? It will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron

USB Audio Note 4

Had Iphone 6 USB on my 2011 Buick Regal USB Audio worked flawless, my wife's phone LG G4 works great.
Got tired of apple & decided to go with Samsung Note 4 now I cant get it to work, tried multiple cables, update to Lollipop 5.0 & 5.1 & none of these worked.
Called Buick they said I should use AUX cable instead, obviously I did not like that response.
DoI need to root? or is this a lost cause.

I would post a link to a website with pictures and information about what you are talking about as I have no idea what that is.
Once I understand what exactly it is I might be able help.
Just guessing but are you talking about some kind of headphone cable that uses USB to connect instead of jack?

Just guessing but are you talking about some kind of headphone cable that uses USB to connect instead of jack?

Link attached is the USB port in car, you plug in any IOS device or LG apparently & it picks up the audio being played.
The Bluetooth feature doesn't support audio, was relying on the USB port to play music in car over Google Play.
Before getting android I tried a Samsung S4 Active & it would appear it registered it but would immediately disconnect on both sides.
I figured it was hardware side as my wifes LG G4 worked perfect decided to switch my iPhone for a Note 4 & when I plug it in the USB nothing happens.

OK link is useless as I cannot click it.
Have you checked if the company you got the USB from makes any kind of app or driver to use on some android phones?
I can assure you Bluetooth audio works very well as I use it often with my Bluetooth speakers. I also used it to stream music to my Sony car stereo via Bluetooth.
I have never used the USB to stream music but I know that there is an app that does some thing to make phone simulate a USB stick so if you where to connect the phone via USB to a stereo deck it would play the music on the deck from the phone.
Sadly I cannot remember what it was called.

copy link & replace (Dot) with a . , 2011 Buick does not support Bluetooth audio.
I've heard of this app but it required root, I'd be willing to root the phone but the amount of Firmware & versions seems like asking for trouble.

Well I can't copy as I use tapatalk.
www.google.com
Easy to make a clickeble link.
OK so that buick thing is not the USB cable so I assume it's some kind of speaker system.
Regarding the root. Custom roms are much better then bloated stock roms in my opinion so it's well worth it and specially now that Note 5 ports are out.
Plus even if you wish to keep stock rom just rooting it will give you full ownership over your phone but nonrooted users can't really say the own there phones as both Samsung and phone company have more control over your phone then you ?
Anyways I strongly suggest you at least root the phone. No need to change firmware if you don't want to but the rooting process alone will give you unlimited freedom with the phone beyond the possibility of icrap can offer with jailbreak.

Do you stream through USB or using MTP & treat your Phone as a USB Storage?
EDIT:
I found this thread & I hope it will help you.
USB Flash Drive use in Audio System
There's a possibility that your Note 4 microSD card was formatted using exFAT & the "old" Buick USB system can't recognize it.
Try to use FAT32 (with its inferiority towards exFAT).
Another solution is using AUX (Draining Note 4 battery)
Last resort is using USB flash drive
NOTE:
Some system can only recognize limited size of USB storage.
Some are limited only to 4 GB, some can only read 32GB & won't read anything with larger capacity.

Sorry for asking this, but do you know what streaming means? (no offense )
If you are streaming the music, it means you are playing the music from your Mobile Phone & direct the sound out of it through either USB, Bluetooth or AUX.
So Streaming will drain your Phone battery.
Usually, car USB system doesn't do this.
Car USB system usually access any device connected through USB as a USB Mass Storage Device & then play the content using its own built in Audio System.
Have you checked the link I gave you?

My car USB does have this feature can play audio of a youtube vid, google play radio, pandora, ect over USB on selected devices it seems.
As stated above it works fine with an LG & IOS phones but has yet to work on Samsung.
Thought there could be a quick fix out there, but that doesnt seem to be the case.
More likely going to swap my phone out for an LG if I can find someone willing.
Worst case scenario I have a iphone 4 which I will use via hotspot in the car.

Do you mean that you play your media on your Car System?
If you do, then check your microSD.
May be your LG use FAT32 for its microSD & Note 4 use exFAT for its microSD.
Some 2011 car systems can't recognize exFAT filesystem.

Thanks for suggestion but it did not work, for the meantime using an Iphone 4 via hotspot for my normal commute I just use FM radio.
Was thinking maybe I can have hotspot automatically turn on when I'm in my car but that might be too much to ask for with current technology.
You win some, you lose some this one I lost no one interested in changing Note 4 for LG G4 in my area.

Android Auto with LG G6

Hello,
i've already found some threads about this topic but there is no solution mentioned.
Does anyone have got Android Auto on LG G6 in use?
I've added this feature on my Mercedes CLA (2016) several days ago to use it with my G6 (H870), but my car can't see my phone when i connect it via USB.
My older Moto X Play works fine, but no chance with the G6. Car shows "No Device recognized" on Android Auto screen.
Some people say they've tried another USB cable. I've tried 4 different cables already including the original cable.
Is this a software problem? Custom Rom?
At the moment i'm running stock (V11i-EUR-XX)and don't really want to flash another FW.
I'm on stock not rooted h870 and my jvc android auto headunit recognize the phone. I noticed that sometimes reverse the usb connector does the trick. Also you can try to change the usb connection mode from charge to mass storage or vice versa.
I tested it on a Citroën C4 Picasso and it worked okay. I have the same stock version of G6. I sometimes had to unplug and plug again the USB cable, though, especially when stopping and restarting the car.
Hi i use a small 30cm cabel with it its run by my car, with a normal 1,5m cabel it don't run
Running fine here with original cable and last fulmics ROM.
I wrote to LG support and the answer is very dissapointing. LG told me that the G6 is not officially supported by android auto at the moment.
The problem is till present, my car doesn't see my phone when connected.
Already tried hard reset and also flashed the stock rom again

It is not a phone problem, probably car implementation.
I installed android auto from APK mirror, try different versions to see. In my country android auto is not even available on Google play.
Also lg mirrordrive works, but it is less useful comparing to android auto. In case you car suport it. I have a VW.
No ideas? It seems that the problem isn't even Android Auto. The car Just can't see the phone. It doesn't even that i've connected something. On LG G6 it says only that it's charging, but doesn't ask me what kind of connection i want to use.
Look for shorter (20-30cm) , thicker USB-C cables. The original one doesn't work for me. But one of the short cables works just fine.
Can you tell me the brand/model of your cable?
It connects!!! But only when i connect the phone with an usb hub and the hub with the car. Very strange... And the connection is broken sometimes and reconnect

Can you post picture of your setup (cable / hub)
I have simular problem with my g6 and pioneer radio, works fine with Samsung s6, but with g6 device not reconised
Verstuurd vanaf mijn LG-H870 met Tapatalk
For me it connects with original cable and a 1.5 m tronsmart cable from a QC3 charger. Unless the cable it is not damaged , I don't see a problem of with the cable, maybe the usb socket of your car.
Btw LG G6 is in supported android auto devices.
It's just an old simple USB hub by CSL. Found it at home in a box and just tried. As i said it works, but crashes very often.
Cable is this one:
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01F439RB0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_62-TAb2DNH184
With Oneplus 3T it doesn't matter which cable i use, all are working and it also has got USB type C, so the problem can't be the car.
My G6 doesn't work until i use the usb hub between phone and car...
When I bought my LG G6 I bought a short (30cm) usb cable too, and I did not have any problems until one month ago, when I found that with pits on the roads my phone gets disconnected. So i bought 3 new cables, 2 of them short (30cm) and one long (1m) suggested by the community. None of them worked well. One short cable got disconnected after few minutes, and the others 2 (the short and the long cable) didn't connect at all. The long cable works perfectly with a Xiaomi phone on the same car. I tightened the USB adapter of my old cable, maybe it has some bad contacts. Now keeps working, the story continue...
This is the first cable I bought and that worked for several months:
amazon.it/gp/product/B01KHM0EA6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This did not work well from the beggining:
amazon.it/gp/product/B07213KM1L/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Those not worked at all:
amazon.it/gp/product/B071HN4G8P/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
amazon.it/gp/product/B01GN0M6NE/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
No problems here, either with my G6 (rooted with Fulmics 4.2, then rooted with stock Oreo), or my wife's G6 (stock Nougat and then Oreo). Both work fine with the standard Skoda head unit in a 2017 Fabia SE. Using a 0.8m Anker cable.
I have an LG G6 connected to a 2018 Ford Edge, AA works fine other than when I make a call or receive a call after hang up my music will not resume playing through the car speakers it plays through the phone speakers, o my way to correct it is by unplugging sub cord from phone then replugging it in and music is then back through car speakers. I hooked up my friends Note8 with my cable and it works fine so it's not the car or the cable it's something with the phone.

I have intermittent issues but works most of the time. Check under 'Developer Options' and make sure USB Debugging is "on." Google updates have changed this setting in the past. Also, make sure you connect AA with cable phone and car BEFORE you start your car. Here is the AA site you need to read over. You can find a lot of issues still ongoing and/or fixed.

Android auto lg g6
We have three different android phones and one Apple phone and Android Auto works flawlessly on all of them except the LG G6. This tells me it’s the LG G6 that’s the problem. Even after LG sent out an OS UPDATE on 9/5/2018 didn’t solve the problem and I’m still on Android 8.0. I called LG and was told they know nothing of any issues. Bye bye LG!
Hi. I've got exactly the same issue. My G6 is 8.0.0 and V20D-HKG-XX version software ¿Have you had lucky finding some solution?
