IR emitter integration outside LeRemote app - LeEco Le Pro3 Questions & Answers

Hi everybody, I'm just looking for an answer as I couldn't find anything useful by looking at the forums.
Is there a mod, patch or some other way to make the IR blaster work outside the LeRemote app (in SURE for example) in roms like AICP or Lineage Oreo?
I know the mod for EUI from Xda Labs but it doesn't seem to work in Oreo (bootloops and stuff).

Axon 7 and AOSP Drivers

Does anybody know yet if there are any non open sourced pieces of hardware on the Axon 7 that would lose functionality with an AOSP rom? On my LG G3 for example, running an AOSP rom means that the laser auto focus on the camera, and the IR blaster don't work because the drivers for those things are not present in AOSP roms. Would there be any hardware on the Axon 7 that would not have drivers in AOSP roms? I really like the look of this phone, but from what I hear the software it comes with is terrible, I'm just wondering what I would lose if I got it and flashed it with AOSP.
Dude, nobody knows yet. Come back in a month and ask again.
I'd say actually get the phone and see what you think about it. Mine arrives hopefully next week and am super excited. Most of the "software" can be fixed with nova launcher and we hopefully will have twrp soon.

Nobody knows yet, but I'd suspect the audio may not be all open source, especially the Dolby Atmos codec. Is there an open source drier for our DAC?

Atmos won't be, but it already seems to be able to ripped out and flashed on (someone on this forum already did it).
Looking at AKM's website, there is no mention of any drivers anywhere. Some of it might depend on how much is built into the chip itself versus what needs to be programmed in/downloaded at runtime.
I'm more concerned for ****ty camers with custom roms than anything else.
But just wait and see. Roms take time.

What features (if any) are lost if you use AOSP Roms ?

Hi guys,
I was wondering are there any features/functions/apps thats loose functionality if using an AOSP Rom ? im asking because of the curved screen are there things that will only work with orginal roms ?
I know the camera is not as good but is there anything esle?
Also the camera is not as good but howcome ? because i remember it took an extremely long time to port fingerprint drivers over to an S5 but it was eventually done so howcome the camera never has been ?

What features will I get to keep when I switch to LineageOS?

Just wondering, especially for features like the 2nd screen, quad dac and wide angle display. And can H918(T-mobile) still be bootloader unlocked? is there any firmware version of H918 that I should avoid because it prevents downgrading?
Which Lineage are you referring to? 15 (which is Oreo) or 16 (which is Pie)?
could be either, I guess the one which is more stable and that will allow me to keep most of the features.

There are threads dedicated to both, they detail what does and doesn't work. Take time to read the OP and then ask questions within the thread

I actually already did my fair of research, but sometimes threads are outdated and I rather hear it from the current users of this device. Just please let me ask this question in peace.

I pointed you to the dedicated threads so that you could inquire with the dev and current users of the roms, no need to be rude it won't get you far on xda

Currently on Lineage 16, you lose
1. A load of the manual camera settings (The stock LG camera did it right, no LG Cam on Lineage)
2. All the manual recording features (Not sure if there are any alternatives, don't record much)
3. DAC works, automatically turns on with a good set of headphones. Cant manualy turn it on.
4. Wide Angle Camera works on GCam (Search for gcam for LG devices) and Opencamera
5. Second screen is part of the main screen, so you just have more screen to work with. No AOD built in, you can turn it on with a magisk plugin, but that makes the battery life a little worse.
Other than those few losses, I gained quite a lot of performance, no bloat.

Which custom ROM? So many need help choosing

Hi
I love the note 4, and always regretted the upgrades I got, the note 4 was my swiss army knife and the hardware features really went down year on year.
So, I'm going to ditch my Note 20 Ultra and return to the Note 4.
But, like everyone I want the Holy Grail - a fast modern ROM that also has all sensors and functions working like UV sensor, barometer and IR blaster.
I'm working long hours with the health service on Covid projects and don't have time to eat never mind wade through the ROM section.
Is there such a thing, or is there a non-rooted way to pep the device up without hammering the battery life?
I say non-rooted as I have to keep some apps that detect root and so unless there's a truly reliable method of concealing it I need to keep away from the pleasures of root.
Thanks
Joe
had the afternoon off, I can't see a single custom rom with uv sensor support. I've tried 2and a manual install of the apk to use it but it doesn't work.
is stock the only thing i can use? any debloaters that are good?
Hya Joe Bongo. I have been on the quest as well for a ROM - not a PERFECT ROM - but PERFECT FOR ME ROM. I have been messing with CrDroid and straight up Lineage 17/18.
The good news is that I use the IR blaster all the time! In fact I have kept thru TB a static copy of the PEEL remote control app but also using aSmart Remote app. I find good sucess with both roms but CrDroid is a little bit more customizable but otherwise very similar. I am runing a Sprint N910P and really the only problems I am having is SMS over LTE and FitBit sync but can't be too critical becuase I think it is a 3rd party problem more than a ROM problem.
Let me know how your search goes!

Well I've looked some more and can't see anything that will let me use the UV sensor. This may be a fool's errand living in the UK cos the weather is so rubbish, but I wanted to make sure I could use all the toys on the phone.
I've gone back to a stock BTU rom on the 910F. It's definitely slower than Lineage and the other one I tried, but the UV sensor works. On the custom ROMs I tried the 3rd party UV app by moletag but it crashed so I figured that meant thre needed to be something in the ROM to enable its use.
Really frustrating, it looks like I might need some form of stripped out stock ROM or something to achieve my goal.

May I ask what you mean by UV sensor? I wasnt thinking and thought you meant the IR blaster but I am curious what or how the UV sensor is being used.

Custom ROM for Galaxy S8 (SM-G950FD) with a great camera app ?

I've been running LineageOS 18.1 for my S8 (SM-950FD) and it's been working fabulously ! However its stock camera is just not the best. I have tried other camera apps as well, like GCamera and Open Camera, but nothing is as close as Samsung stock camera. I chose not to go back to Samsung stock ROM because I love the experience of Android 11, while the original rom only supports till Android 9.
Is there any other Custom ROM than LineageOS that comes with a great camera app ?
There is Project Sakura (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...5-1-official-monthly-updates-vanilla.4261403/). It is based on LineageOS 18.1 and has an integrated camera app called Footej Camera. Not the best name, but it feels a lot like the Stock Camera. I believe you can also download Footej from PlayStore but it probably costs a few pennies.
Good Luck on your Search!

Hi, thanks !
I have read the whole thread from Project Sakura that you provided, apparently there are issues with hotspot (not working) and camera itself (few people mentioned the camera just stucks after a while). But this ROM looks interesting, I'm gonna keep my eye on it and see its updates.
Well, the further custom roms move away from the stock rom, the more bugs appear. I'm surprised you have a working LOS 18.1, which one is that if I may ask?
You could check out ProCam X, it's in the Playstore. Great app with lots of features. Some people complain that the image quality is worse, but that's probably because they accidentally set the post-processing to low quality (NR).

I'm using LOS 18.1 from Stricted, check the first comment here. Yes, it's working surprisingly well, battery drains a little bit faster than using original stock ROM though, but everything works fine. I'm aware some people mention wifi / hotspot are problematic on their LOS 18.1, but I can use wifi & hotspot sharing just fine on my phone with this custom ROM from Stricted. They have September update for their ROM which I haven't tried because mine is already working well and I figured the camera quality would be the same anyway.
At this point, I'm focusing on looking for an alternative camera app, or waiting if someone would generously come with LOS 19 (Android 12) for S8, haha. In the meantime, I'll try your camera app recommendation, thanks !!
Thank you! I will check that out. One last thing comes to my mind. You probably know it already, but maybe you don't or anyone else is searching for a solution, so:
It is very important for high quality photos to activate the Camera2 API. It can simply be flashed and offers an interface for more complex camera controls. If the API is activated can be checked with this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.airbeat.device.inspector&hl=gsw&gl=US
If it misses, here is the zip file: https://www.cyanogenmods.org/downloads/camera2-api-enabler-zip-file-download/
Good luck and happy photographing!

Actually I wasn't aware of this API, I'm gonna try to use it. Thank you !
