Nexus 10 Autoboot when plugged in - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a Nexus 10 tablet that I need to have automatically boot when it is plugged in. It is going to be in a display case for use in a museum and I will not be able to manually turn it on. I've researched this but I cant find any information that seems to be useful for a nexus 10.
Any help would be appreciated.

Since i am new i cant post links yet, but i googeled and found something. Just google: "AutoBoot Android When Charger Connected" then u find a link of the website "instructables.com" and then u can try it out.
I personally didnt try it, but i think it could work. Befor you change the file just back it up first.

Is it impossible to boot a Nexus 7 with a broken screen?

All right, so I broke my nexus7 screen really bad. After the mourning period I realise that I may use it for something without screen, since I had USB debugging ON.
First time I connect it to my PC got a sad "USB device not recognized". So I disassembled the whole thing looking for some other broken part, but everything else seems to be fine.
So, anyone knows what's hapening and if there's a way to fix it? Thanks!
EDIT:
Some additional info:
- I know that the device is not properly booting because MTP and NFC does not work.
- When I remove the broken screen, windows asks for the APX drive. As far as I read, APX mode is useless for Nexus 7.
- My guess is that the nexus 7 checks the hardware before boot. I want to confirm that and, if possible, find a workaround.
try downloading and re-installing the usb drivers from asus website? could be worth a shot

Thanks for the answer, I did it, even knowing that the drive was correct before (I was developing with the nexus 7 a few hours before the accident).

Phone is dead n900w8

Hello
I was trying to flash the official android L on my note 3 n900w8. I believe I hard bricked the phone because the phone is not responsive. It does not turn on at all. Does not charge. No signs of life! Only when I plug the phone into my pc, the pc recognizes it under the name QC BULK.
I researched a lot about this problem and I found the SD card method. Tried it, and still does not work.
There is another method where you open the phone and find a resistor located near the camera, but I can't seem to find that resistor.
I bought a ''jig'' piece hoping that it will boot the phone up, but still no response. DEAD!
The only solution left is to ''Jtag'' it, but before I pay 60-70 dollars, do you guys have any ideas/solutions??
please please help!!:crying:
Thanks!:highfive:

Yes, I agree with Joku1981, do you even know which file have you flashed?
Everything you said has "brick" written all over it...
Can you get into the download/recovery mode?
If download or recovery mode is accessible, there may be a solution... Just don't ruin your phone by opening it and not knowing how to assemble it back afterwards...
Cheers!
unfortunately I cant access recovery mode nor download mode.
The phone would not even turn on.
I flashed the n9005 which should work on n900A phones. I dont think this is important now since the phone would not even turn on. If only there is a way to access download mode, I will be able to fix it.
As I said, the computer recognises the phone as QC BULK!!

Help needed unbricking old style nexus 2012 wifi

Hello, I have been given a nexus to try fix, Its one of the older style ones 7 inch i think with only front facing camera and wifi only, It seems to have an intermittent problem powering on, I've checked and rechecked all hardware so think now maybe its some software problem as the owner has tried to root the device unsuccessfully and i think flashed wrong ROM,
Is there anyway i can restore the device and possibly even root it for them at the same time without being able to boot into the device and see build version etc, I am able to get it to power on eventually but takes some playing about removing battery a few times till it decides to boot but once its on it stays on but cant access anything as it just keeps constantly throwin up the same error sayin "Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped" and i can close them all fast enough to view anything in the tablet,
Any help here would be great, Im guessing i just need to flash the correct ROM plus whatever other files are needed the ODIN/USB way, Im just not sure what files to use for this device, Think its Grouper
Anyone any ideas how i can fix this?

just need someone to read over your post is all & give a response ... Sounds like an app/service is crashing, best thing to do is hook it up to a pc an play around with the Nexus Root Toolkit, if you can boot the N7 you can fix it with that program, just make sure your comfortable with that level of modifications, with that tool you can do just about anything with your N7 sorry but it doesn't sound as if you have much knowledge of the working of the N7, I only mention it an suggest you do a lot more research before fixing what is a simple fix in the grand scheme of things of what could be wrong.. Don't forget the make sure its got a decent charge before "flashing"... for the power on issue, just pull the back plate off an unplug the battery cable "carefully", and then pop it back in making sure its in even, flush an all the way.. good luck :good:

How to pull data from a device that has a damaged screen but still turns on?

Not sure if I'm posting in the right place ( if not please direct me where I should ) I have a damaged Galaxy S7 Edge from ATT that I'd like to pull some photos off the device that was took the night before the screen decided to go out on me. Is there any programs or tools that will allow me to pull from certain folders even though the USB file sharing option can not be put on due to the screen being off?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as the phone was used to shoot a whole birthday party before it went out.
I would suggest you connect to smart switch and make a back up of the operating system.
then you can get the pictures from the back up as smart switch saves them in different folders.
Does Smart Switch run out of the box without interaction on the phone?
I guess that's a hard one. If you've enabled USB debugging and permanently authorized your desktop you can access the files through adb.
Depending on the source of your problem you can give your phone to a shop for repair who won't touch the filesystem.

Smart switch needs me to put the phone in a mode where it can read off it which I don't have access to unfortunately.

I have another device already so I wasn't trying to spend the $200+ to get the screen fixed on a phone I was no longer using if I didn't HAVE to
Point taken... however, you should be able to sell it for more than 200$ afterwards, isn't it.
Otherwise you can open it and solder wires on the memory chip and connect directly (just as a rough path given).
As previously mentioned above, using smart switch is not a bad idea.
I however didn't do that. My wife had the s6 and right before the s7 edge came out she dropped it and screen broke. Was not able to view anything on the screen but still powered on. What i did, was turned it on, connected the phone to my pc and device appeared in the Computer section of my pc as the external storage or whatever. I was able to save and remove all picture/files i wanted from that non working s6. Just a thought. Back then, i didn't like to back up my stuff now i do but just in case the back ups don't work try this. The possibilities are endles...

It sounds like your computer is not recognizing the phone because the samsung drivers are not working properly. Download and install them to your computer and then try smart aswitch. You should not need to put into file share mode to make a back up to your computer.
Once the back up is on your computer, you should be able to access the back up and get most of the information you require.

No, it's a security measure. You indeed need to confirm on the phone first to get access to the files.

I'm on cm 13 based rom, thanks for advance.
please any suggestions i searched alot but it didn't work ,in some devices there is a file located in system/bin named lpm but it doesn't exist in cm13 rom system files and i don't know what is its alternative in cm 13 by editing its lines you can do that, any idea ?
@MikeChannon any ideas ?
Don't know CM13 well enough I'm afraid.
Almost certain there'll be a system file edit to do it but without research I don't know.
Maybe another avenue to research would be this sort of thing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp9G6A6EFlA
Not exactly what you're looking for although I suspect that would also turn the screen on if it was already on stand by.
Clues might also be gained from the numerous USB settings in com.android.
An easy way to identify them is by using something like:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite&hl=en_GB
and use its 3 dot menu to search for USB. It shows at least 30 entries (most will be irrelevant of course)

What about the Wakey App?
It can be set to wake the device on charge and can also be set to stop the device sleeping and turning the screen off. I use it with Netflix casting otherwise the casting can get shut off when sleep starts.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doublep.wakey&hl=en
Also, if you could look into what the app does (its code) you could potentially find your own tailored solution.

Haha well it depends what you mean by "switched on when it is turned off".
If you mean the screen is off and you want it to come on when plugged in then it can do that, it has the option "Charge Wake"
... but if you mean it is completely off then no it can't do that.

Exactly thats what i mean to wake the phone when its totally switched off by plugging it to the charger
So we will return back to the first option sdk tools or editing system file to replace battery charge animation (when phone is off) by turning the phone on, you told me that through cm 13 rom we have no idea which system file would help,so if i changed the rom with another one may it help?

No and googling around suggests the cyanogen file name is not known. Maybe it's still the same in Lineage OS... might be worth asking there.
Don't suppose you have the kpoc file mentioned here:https://stackoverflow.com/questions/26294258/auto-boot-when-wall-charger-is-plugged
If all else fails and this is a permanent in car fixture, I guess you could look at a hard wired dash switch or relay start button replacement.

Yes it will be a permanent car fixture but i see that doing it by editing system files is much easier than the other ways (wired switch or relay start button replacement) so ill try again but with different rom and searching for the mentioned system files and i hope to work with me, thanks alot for your time and support mike :good:
