Nexus 10, Magisk 18, LineageOS 16 Pie. All overlays disabled (nightlight, ambient, etc.). No themes enabled. Magisk Hide hiding all BBC apps and Netflix.
Netflix works fine.
Iplayer has sound, but no picture, just a black screen. I can find nothing relevant despite searching extensively (I think) in XDA and Google.
If anyone has any bright ideas I'd love to hear them...
I have two other devices configured similarly - all PIE, Nexus 6 Magisk 17.4, Lenovo Tab 4 8 Magisk 18. Both of them work fine with Iplayer.

I am unlocked and rooted and loving the Trupure rom but I dig the cyanogenmod roms, too, like AIPC and whatnot. Trouble is, cast (netflix, actually) doesn't work on them for me and neither does rom toolbox pro or lightning launcher. Both apps crash.
Lemme qualify cast not working; it will fire-up and I can see my apps and whatnot but when I open netflix and hit play video and audio drops. If I stop play I can see the netflix app on my TV but as soon as I hit play - black screen and no audio.. Cast does connect easily and quickly, though.
I have a firewall as well as xprivacy with the same settings I use on trupure. Cast and netflix work fine for me in trupure. Also, lightning launcher and rom toolbox pro work fine for me in trupure.
Any advice?
Is anyone able to cast netflix on tv using redmi2? which rom?
I'm trying since i was using miui, with the custom roms i always get black screen , sound and subtitles, but no image.
when i was using miui the image appeared still (on pause) but after play went black again.
I also have another application from my pay tv that allows on demand shows, movies, documentaries, series and happens the same... blank screen when i make it play on tv thru casting.
I'm right now using RR Nougat last version 5.80.

Hi, did you solve the problem? It's happening to me, too, and I can not find a solution.
I'm seeing this reported on various phones and various ROMs, rooted or not, since at least 2014, and nobody has a fix. Similar Reddit threads give clearing all Netflix app data or reinstalling the app as solutions, but on those threads the reported problem was not being able to start casting the screen at all.
I also have this everything-casts-but-the-video variant of the problem on my Redmi 3 with CM 12.1 and haven't found a solution. Tried reinstalling the app only to find that newer versions are incompatible with my phone and can't even be installed off the store (had to go back to v4.16.1 via apkmirror). Tried setting Force GPU Rendering and Disable HW Overlays in Developer Options, tried tweaking the screen DPI, tried streaming to a Miracast-capable dongle rather than directly to my Samsung TV - nothing worked.
This guide will show how to enable WIFI SCREEN MIRRORING on our phones.
I think Moto/Lenovo disabled it to force the use of projector snap or chromecast.
You'll need root enabled.
All you have to do is change one line on your build.prop.
You have to change the line
Code:
persist.debug.wfd.enable=0
To
Code:
persist.debug.wfd.enable=1
If you're on stock or stock based ROM, you will edit the line.
If you're Lineage based rom, you will have to add the line.
Now you reboot and Miracast can be enabled.
If this tutorial helps you, hit "thanks" button.
it works confirmed on xiaomi redmi note 3,N roms
Was about to return my Moto Z (Griffin) because of the lack of miracast.
Just tried this method and it does indeed enable miracast on Android 6.
Problem is, it's not smooth and seemless like on the Galaxy S7 because when casting video, the Moto Z plays the video on the phone as well as on the wireless display at the same time resulting in an often pixelated wireless video.
On the S7, the screen on the phone remains black (except for the playback controls), and wireless video is excellent.
How can we fix this?
Also, does this build.prop hack work on Android 7?

I don't think that the S7 actually does Miracast but uses a form of WiFi Direct instead. My understanding of Miracast is that it is only capable of video mirroring and doesn't have the ability of actually casting video like Chromecast or Apple Air Play. I also have an S7 and although it is able to cast video from content directly on your phone to a television it uses video mirroring when playing back video from third party apps like HBO Go or Showtime Anytime, the same as Miracast.
The ultimate goal is to have a device that can connect to and project content to a wide spectrum of devices.
For me, it's important to be able to cast or mirror directly, without the need for an external WiFi network (as is the requirement of a Chromecast).
Examples being "project to this PC Windows 10" or to a miracast/Widi connected projector "Microsoft display adapter".
All of which the S7 does flawlessly but the Moto Z can't.
Regarding the mirror display of video, that depends on the app being used. If however the app allows the video to be played on the native video player, it'll get cast but not mirrored, resulting in smooth playback (S7). The Moto does not have a dedicated video player and relies on Google Photos, so the content (after applying this mirrorcast hack) is simply mirrored.
It's also shocking that for a modern device, the Moto Z can't connect to devices via HDMI (Samsung also dropped the ball here with the S7).
Only reason to keep the Moto Z really is for the Mods, like the projector.
I've read somewhere that this hack only works on Android 6 for the Moto Z (fails to connect on Android 7).
Could someone please confirm ( don't want to update if miracast is lost)?

Just a little further info. Miracast has been disabled since at least 2013 with the release of Moto G (1st Gen) / Moto X (1st Gen) - probably earlier. It's not related to projector snap or chromecast. The feature was never properly implemented (WiFi internet connection was lost while mirroring) in the any Stock Motorola Firmware, but did work correctly in the Google Play Edition firmware.
It's been a few years since I've used the feature, but casting via Miracast is possible using various apps on Play Store (for example BubbleUPnP).
Bubble upnp and other apps need external WiFi, miracast is direct so can be very useful on the go (where you may not have home or office WiFi).
updated to Noghat, rooted and used the build prop editor from the Playstore........miracast works but it breaks the camera (camera busy, please restart).
Restoring the original build prop fails to fix the camera.
Only fix is to reinstall the firmware
This mod does not affect camera.
O think you edited something else.
My suggestion: Always perform a nandroid backup before doing any mod.
I have the moto z play unlocked version and have updated my build.prop. What I had to do was take the # out before the line described at the beginning of this thread(the =0 was already =1 as described to change) and I do have screen mirroring to a point. Everything mirrors except video streaming apps, homemade videos stream fine but apps like fox go, espn, and such the video is black on the screen but sound works while video is playing on the phone. Does anyone else have this problem and been able to get both video and sound to mirror? Is there more to edit in the build.prop file to get full true mirroring? I have search everywhere and haven't seen this problem but people say they have mirroring that is working but not if everything is working.. Thanks
Where do I edit this line?

So I take it nobody is having problems mirroring? And I'm the only one who's build.prop already said the 1 instead of the 0 and that taking out the # before the line that needed to be changed gives my phone some mirroring but not with apps like espn and such. When I had the Samsung Note 5 these apps mirrored fine. Strange they don't show video for this edit.
I can't even find the value or line in the editor app? And I'm on stock 7.0

Hello all,
I lost the ability to cast to any Chromecast last night. Not sure what happened, but I uninstalled, restarted and reinstalled about 5 times and I have the same issue.
Netflix Hulu and prime can cast to Chromecast fine.
I have an LG V20. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get this back?
Thank you,
Oreo 8.0
MicroGVanced 0.2.4-105 YouTube Vanced13.50.52

The original YouTube app itself streams to Chromecasts after complete uninstall.
Same issue here, glad to know I'm not the only one. My bf has the same issue too. I'm on Note FE and he's on LG G6, both Oreo I think. We've been running an older version of Youtube Vanced (non-root) I think, so I install the new version of it and the MicroG apk but that didn't help.
I am on OnePlus 5 , same issue not working all of a sudden.. installed latest version but of no use. Any help is appreciated.
Same problem here. Anyone know of a fix? Official YouTube app casts just fine.
I'm having the same problem on my honor 8 that's on EMUI 8.0
That's a YOUTUBE VANCED problem not an LG V20 problem.... This is the LG V20 forum and you guys talking about an YouTube app not a V20 rom or V20 kernal, plus your talking about other phone models too. Ask about it in the Official Vanced thread not here because your making thread clutter, it's against the rules something like that. Here's the link to Vanced below. Good luck yo

Is Netflix TV working for anyone else on the Shield Tablet? It was working great up until a week ago. Now all I get is the below on every stream on Netflix. It doesn't even attempt to buffer. Instant error. I'm on the Official Nvidia Tablet 5.4 firmware with darcy (Shield Android TV) build.prop spoof. Wiped app data + cache with no result. Reinstalled apk... Nothing works.
"This title is not available to watch instantly. Please try another title. - 1044"
tvq-pb-101(2.10.0)
Netflix version: 7.3.2-3539 R
Has Netflix blacklisted our device, added checks to prevent build.prop spoofing, upped firmware version requirement, or included security patch check?
Edit: Just to be clear. I am referring to the Android TV version of Netflix. It works, or atleast it did, providing you spoof your model, name and device along with adding and setting ro.nrdp.modelgroup and ro.nrdp.audio.otfs properties in build.prop. Anyway, It seems to be broken now.
Anyone else with a similar setup, we need more reports on this issue?
Just tried The-Saint2k's lineage 14.1 also... It's broken just the same there to. Same error. Both with darcy and foster spoof in build.prop.
Has anyone found a solution?

Perhaps it's just the latter builds of netflix then. I use APK updater to keep my Netflix up-to-date from APK Mirror. I literally didn't change anything else other then updating my APK. I'll try 7.26.1 build 27 and see whats happening.
I'm getting a newer version warning, but play store tells me my Android version is too old. So it's an older version...

I don't think you're using the Netflix TV version? Am I right? I can't find version 7.26.1... Either way, I downgraded a few APK's back and it still doesn't work. I noticed it stopped working when they started to use expanding video/film tiles on their front page. Anyway, it's looking broken to me.
No, it's the regular tablet version I'm using

I'm not surprised that one still works . I much prefer to use the Android TV version though out of convenience. I'm more familiar with it, and it's a breeze navigating the UI with a controller when connected to a TV. Besides, does the standard Netflix apk support HD resolution on our device without spoofing?
It's starting to look like it's the end of the road for the Android TV version of Netflix on the Shield Tablet. Boo!
I'll keep digging. I'll update this thread when I reach the otherside.
I really thought more people would be sounding off about this. I mean, I know this device is old... But I can't be the only one using it for streaming. People spoofing Nvidia Shield TV and using Netflix TV. Speak up? Please aha :crying:
I've noticed Kodi Netflix plugin users are also mentioning a similar occurrence. Is it working for anyone still? Be interested in knowing your setup.

The exact thing just happened to me a few days ago too. I posted about this in another section of these forums, but no luck. My K1 is stock 7.0, not rooted, and suddenly can't play purchased movies on Youtube, Google Play Movies, Fandango, Movies Anywhere, and VUDU. I have factory reset multiple times with no fix. I have also downgraded back to Lollipop and they still won't play. Tried Marshmallow, and no luck either. It's a DRM problem, but I don't have a clue what has happened. At least now I know it's not something wrong with my device itself since you're having the same problem. Please keep me posted if you get yours working and what you did to fix it. My guess is the K1 has been blacklisted by Google Widevine DRM. But why???

That was exactly my thought too... They've blacklisted our device killing L1 widevine support. Unless L1 Widevine support is limited by security patch level now... I know a couple of 3rd party netflix plugins also took a hit recently to. Their issue section is riddled with similar errors. Seems like HD streaming services, or solely google; are really stirring up the pot. Either way... This sucks.
Well, its not just netflix. Regional streaming services are not working as well. Just throwing error. Netflix just stay on netflix logo tho.
Gladly, and sadly.. I'm not the only one. I think it's a DRM issue too.. Because all of my legal subscription based stuff stopped working.
Netflix
Npo (Dutch app)
Ziggo TV (Dutch app)
KPN itv (Dutch app)
Normal YouTube videos works. But they don't have DRM... So sad.. I need some time, but when I have I gonna try a custom rom. Maybe that helps?
I have the same issue, both The Criterion Channel and MUBI will no longer stream on my device as of last week. I'm on original Shield Tablet, using 14.1-20180922-NIGHTLY-shieldtablet. Originally, I thought it was just the Criterion app, but after dealing with support, I found out that the current HDCP level is reporting as "disconnected", support telling me that was the reason. I wasn't convinced because streaming had stopped working immediately after having successfully watched 2 movies and then trying a third. I tried using MUBI to see if that was working, but that is broken too. Turns out, it was the DRM issue.

Custom ROM's won't fix the issue; I've tried already -.-
You're definitely not wrong though... So very very sad. The whole reason I brought this tablet was solely for streaming. I wasn't expecting L1 widevine support to end. I think we need to make some noise over at the Nvidia forums...
Just registered to see what could be done about this very issue. I am currently not a happy bunny about a device I was using solely for streaming while on the couch. I am not even sure I want to mock about with the software to get it working again.

Unfortunately, there is nothing us users can do to get it working again. It has Widevine L1 version 1.0, but current Widevine L1 is version 14 or higher. Not sure, but I think version 1.0 is much older than Android 7. Don't know why such an old version is used, but that's probably why it is Widevine blocked now. I've found that the Google Play Movies & TV app (now Google TV) will still play your movies, but in SD. MoviesAnywhere will play in SD on the website on whatever browser you have on it, but the app will not revert to SD. The VUDU app, which is the main one I need to work because of having some movies on it that aren't MoviesAnywhere compatible, will not play in SD even when clicking to play in SD. Pretty sad that the Google TV app will at least revert to SD but the other's won't.

Non certified devices have been using that technique for a long time. I don't really see that as a fix though. Just forces all HD content to 480p. We had widevine support to allow HD content. That's why I bought this tablet... I was using Netflix TV, and streaming content in HD. Now it's completely broken. I can't bring myself to viewing content on a large TV at 480p using the non TV Netflix apk. It's just sad and painful -_-
Thanks for the suggestion though. I'm sure others will make use of it.
