Fix CPU throttling at low battery - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

To clear something right off the bat; I do know why the CPU throttles when the battery is low which is to save power.
But what if I don't want my Axon 7 to start slowing down at 40%( it used to slow down at 30% before the oreo update)?
There is no toggle in the power management to just turn off power saving mode altogether since it only allows you to adjust policies for single apps.
I really need to know if there is a method (Without Root) that would allow the phone to run the CPU without throttling it when the battery is low provided I toggle the necessary setting.

It's not for saving power but to prevent early shutdown on a degraded battery.

I see, thanks for the clarification. But can you think of any ways where I can stop this behaviour? Because I know my phone can run smoother for longer than it does now.

It may only be disabled with root mods. For more background search for the thread about BCL. In any case the effect is the sign of a degraded battery when it happens at higher percentages, time to replace that battery soon.

Haha I didn't wanna accept it. Thanks for giving a definitive solution. I'm scared cause I've never done it before but I'll only do it when it's unavoidable, cause I can still use the phone just fine on one charge in a day.
Thanks for your help!

Anyone experiencing faster battery drain on 4.4.2?

I updated to 4.4.2 a few days ago and am noticing faster battery drain. Just curious if anyone else noticed this?
Yup. Have tried factory resetting twice. Clearing cache. Disabling nearly everything possible. No avail.
Mine was draining a bit faster than normal after the update. I let it run all the way down, and charged it up, and it has been fine since then.
Hope it works out for you guys.

Yes mine is really bad. i even lowered the brightness. like it loses 1% every two minutes even though its screen is off. I gotta get Zerolemon battery or use SetCPU. Does any other 4.4.2 devices have battery drain?
Mine drains extremely fast but seems to charge just as fast

Ive gotten better battery performance since setting up Battery Guru and disabling all app refresh unless I open them. Still seeing very fast battery drain, but it's definitely improved.

The battery on mine would drain quick and charge forever. It would take me close to 12 hours charging it to be full. Any help?
Camera bug = Battery Drain
Did some looking around, and it appears to be a bug related to the camera (i know, sounds a little odd).
Here's one link of many I've found regarding this issue...Samsung has acknowledged an issue and is working on a fix:
"cultofandroid.com/53672/google-vows-fix-android-4-4-2s-camera-battery-drain-bug"
I am thinking this is more regarding the ASOP camera. We don't have that file or app that they say to look for.

I posted this in the 4.4.2 issues thread, but will post here:
EAS continuously running....I found this out as well after the update. I cant believe its low priority for such a major issue. I switched mine to manual just to be safe. I also found a major battery drain issue when surfing on the internet via LTE service.
Any way, I wanted to see if others could replicate my issue:
-Stock (non-rooted) S4 phone with the recent 4.4.2 update on LTE with 5 bars of service.
-I am using Chrome to surf the internet.
-I have Exchange and Gmail accounts. Gmail is set to PUSH and exchange is set to manual. (My hope is that having Exchange set to manual I avoid the EAS issue described above.)
-Majority of the boatware turned off
Scenario: While using Chrome to surf via LTE service I am literally able to see a 1% decrease in battery ever 2-3 minutes of surfing on the internet. Wifi is better, but still drains faster than 4.3.
Can anyone else try and replicate and respond back? I may have to do a hard reset to see if it will remedy the issue. :-/
Thanks,
Eric
My battery life has been exponentially better since enabling battery guru. Use inactivity power boost to disable all app refresh after 15 minutes of inactivity. Set everything to manual refresh.

Yes I have had worse battery drain with the KitKat update. Hoping for an AT&T update since we dont have the option to flash roms...
What are you actually seeing for battery consumption?
I have google+ at the top of the list with >30% use. Definitely new after 4.4.2 update.
Seemed to be ok for a day and then popped back up. I'm going to try to see if it's caused by 1st use of the camera.

I'm not using live wallpapers.
Rebooting the phone and avoiding use of the camera did not help.
I uninstalled all google+ updates that that has worked so far, but definitely not a long term solution.
Well I would up flashing the MK2 revert, then changed my mind and re-updated to NB1 (these two processes involved many full-wipes and even flashing a .pit file). Installed all my apps one-by-one. I'm now getting better battery life. Still higher than previous usage by Android System (usually ends up being 14-17%).
NB1 now works pretty damn well for me. Once we get root I will be able to disable some stupid things like the boot sound and charger connection sound, along with a few apps that just don't need to be running like Knox and Security Policy Updates...

[Snapdragon batteryguru vs Stamina mode]

Dose anyone use snapdragon batteryguru?
Or stay with default function, namely stamina mode?
Or both together?
I just installed yesterday and it is on the way learning.

Also, I will give you feedback after testing.

I have used batteryguru before didn't notice much improvement and from what the app was saying the apps you don't use often it stops them pushing the notifications etc until you load the app however I was still having notifications coming from all the apps on my phone. Your milage may vary though depending on what you use your phone for.
I was using JuiceDefender until I've been told that it doesn't do me any good. I thought it was a pretty nifty app for its functionality to enable and disable Wi-Fi and mobile data when I need it or not...

Well, peers have told me:
1. Battery saving apps are pointless with how advance Android is nowadays. Also especially since Sony has already included enough battery saving software in their devices.
2. The battery saving app keeps running, so that itself drains the battery.
What do you think?

1 is correct
2 is partially correct, depends on which power saving app, I didn't notice any real drain from Battery Guru, though it didn't help increase it either.
I've never used Battery Guru before, but I think I'd rather purchase Tasker to do the job of location based Wi-Fi for my phone.
Would it drain battery or such if I have that act like juice defender/battery guru instead?

Ive used battery guru for a while, but looks like it doesnt do much. So i uninstall it already.
With the latest version of Stamina I can't really see what BatteryGuru can do to further improve things.
The Z3 effectively turns just about everything off in standby if you ask it to, firing up when you start using the phone. Battery Guru attempts to learn your usage, so it will still allow data at certain times and restrict completely at others.
I'm very happy with Stamina and uninstalled Battery Guru some time ago. I still have it on some other devices tough, especially anything that doesn't have any native power saving functions.
I do wonder how Sony is going to combine Stamina with the Lollipop battery saver, which is a simple on or off - along with the horrid orange bars. That's very much all or nothing with far less intelligence, so maybe Sony will not use that at all.

Ohh man we never knew that.
Great observation.
infinite battery life
Try using the infinate battery life script, if you are rooted. This can help increase the battery life by far. Hope this helps.
If you want more battery, root you're device and install a battery life script. If anyone wants to link I can give it to them. If this does not help and you done to root the device install a external battery life booster from the play store. Hope this helps if not pm me or reply. Good luck, if your device does not last at least a full day without charging turn down the brightness settings on the device as this will improve battery life. Another way would be to close any unwanted apps and 3g/wifi as this can drain battery usage. Hope this helps?
@ANDROmodderHD, I have just one "noobish" question: Why are you spamming? :'3
You are just asking us to just keep the phone on standby, turn off everything, even the apps we are using even those we need to be kept running and even turn off the internet, pull down the brightness to zero so that we can't see anything out under the sun. Then what do we do with the phone? Throw it away into the storeroom or sell it?
You could sell it if you like. I know where you are coming from but if you just turned up the brightness when you are using it then you can turn it down when you are not. This could help.

Don't you think the phone will be on standby with the display *off* when I am not using it? How will the brightness level matter then?
PS. You are damn interesting
I found out the battery lasts more then 24 hours when on a low to medium brightness setting. Even when you are not using it. Why don't you take a test to see if the battery would last more longer if it was on a higher or lower brightness setting when you are not using the phone. My battery life can last more than a day. So see for yourself.

I can't imagine how battery brightness can affect battery life when screen is off, I mean, no matter if you have brightness at maximum because screen is off.

C'mon man. We don't need to test because we know the phone is not stupid. What you are experiencing is called a "placebo" effect dude. Use your brains and don't act so noobish, no offense but this is getting irritating. I too made the battery last for 2 and half days when I did not use the phone at all because I was damn sick.
For improving battery life, try keeping the CPU clock to lowest (300MHz) when the phone is on standby. By default, the minimum freq. on LP is set to 787MHz unlike that of on KK which is 300Mhz. Just revert it back to 300MHz as min and set the governor to interactive. Or, ever heard of "deep sleep?" That's the best battery saving technique.

Stupidity ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ
Btw guys u can use GREENIFY app for saving battery and also xposed modules like Boot Manager.
Or flash a custom kernel which can sometimes make the battery last longer. This depends if you are already running cm or any other Rom with a custom kernel.
O.O
.... *slowly walks away*
Is this thread still going on??
Yes, if you want it to be on. Anyways this might be slightly of topic but is anyone running a custom rom. I know this may be off topic but has anyone got LP working on their device? Hope the update is good, what does everyone think about LP? Do you like it more than kitkat?

Issue??? Most of time, battery drop 1% after i unlock phone and use it a little

Hi people!
I cannot complain about battery life, specially in stand by (i rarely active use the phone), with wifi always active and during day time whatssapp web active in background, after root, naptime to force doze and other optimization here and there, my battery last till 6/8 days (with little screen time, 10/20 minuts/day), lol.
Problem is the screen use a lot of juice, even if i set up brightness around 55% only.
And, more strange, i lost 1% of battery almost all time i unlock the screen and use the phone a little.
I mean, i unlock for example the phone and im 80% battery, in 20/60 seconds will turn to 79%.
I unlock and use a little when is at 56%, after 10/30/60 second, turn to 55%.. and so on...
This happen most of the time i unlock it to check screen and i play around a little checking apps and doing stuff, but no games or heavy apps.
Im in last January oreo patch.
Is a common "issue", if issue can be called?
Is a behavior other mi a1 phone noticed too?
My phone was behaving like this also before root and before use naptime.
Facing same issues
I have notice this too but also 1 restart cost 1% battery life is this normal? So if I continuously restart phone 5 times it will use 5%, is this like this for other phones too I'm not quite sure?
I don't have such issue, I turned on/off 6 times with delay for about 60 sec and it dropped only 1% the first time, and I keep the screen brightness about 70%

OK but this seems more a issue of your phone, not a general, operative system base, battery drain.
And your issue dont have similarities with phenom i described in first post in this topic!
You must check what app/setthing keep your phone awake while in stand by and fix it.

Nap Time by Francisco Franco

Has anyone else tried Nap Time by Francisco Franco? Been using it on all my other phones and decided to give it a try on the 1P6T. Set it to aggressive doze and will keep thread updated on advantages or disadvantages.
I'll run a complete battery cycle using Nap Time and then another with it turned off.
Haven't installed it, have had it on previous devices. Will be interesting to follow your findings.
I feel like, with the combination of excellent out-of- the-box battery life and the Dash charging speed, there is not as much reason to skrimp and save on battery power by using Franco's excellent app.
When you can get screen on times that are practically all day and you can get a massive recharge in 10 -20 minutes ... I'm far less inclined to spend much time tweaking the kennel and searching for wake locks etc.
Franco makes good stuff though. Used his kernels for years.
Greenify and other nap apps are considered as useless in pie, native battery optimization is enough. I ditch them months ago without any visible difference.
The only thing I think will make a difference is Leandroid switching mobile data off when the screen goes off. This is a because of the Mobile Radio Active battery bug. That said I'm now a week in to my 6t and haven't noticed the drain, so it looks like OnePlus fixed it, OR, the battery is just so good it doesn't cause inadequate battery life anymore. (I've not rooted yet, which is a sign the phone is excellent.)

hi.. may i know if you guys remove naptime from the OOS battery optimization or not?
I tried this but nothing has helped the massive battery drain I've been getting since finally rooting the TMO variant. Google music is using like 80% of the battery and not going to sleep.
My battery has been awful on my phone since day 1 which was when I rooted. The last 6t I had for about 10 days , did not root, battery was much better. Going to try this app
I turned on "disable motion detection during doze" and notice that ambient display doesn't work on tap. It might be the case that it doesn't work when the phone is in deep doze. Hmm, a bug on oneplus's end?

if im not wrong, the app will ask you to remove it from being optimize
I have now tried this for a few days and notice no changes in battery.
I do notice that it goes in doze mode more often and more quickly (gsam battery monitor) I don't see any difference at all other than that.
Hi, can I check if this is Naptime working normally?
