I have been trying to have the apps menu in horizontal way since I do not like the vertical way android pie has. Is there a way to do it without a launcher?

how can i lock down the home screen from rotating. I dont mind the pics and text messaging with the flipping but i dont want the home to rotate. I have tried the shake to flip thing but it is some weird...any way just to lock down the one screen?
are you using the stock sense launcher or a launcher from the market?
i have adw and i think i found a setting in it...i thought i had looked everywhere
Yeah, theres a setting in ADW. its in like UI settings / screen preferences /home orientation i think.
The GoSms app has a really cool way of switching activities.
You swipe to the left and right and it animates to the next activity in a carousel type effect.
How do they do this? I don't necessarily want the same animation, but how do I have my app switch activities by swiping left and right?

Could also be view stubs, no way to know for sure but there's some ways to get you started
Whether I use Holo Launcher Pro or Apex Launcher, the homescreen in fine in portrait mode. When I tilt the phone into landscape mode on the homescreen, the homescreens on the left partially show.
In other words, I can see partial widgets from second homescreens on the left and right of the main screen in landscape mode. I hope this makes sense.
Anyway, I was hoping to know if anyone else was experiencing this, or if it can be corrected. I messed around with rows and columns but I just can't get it correct. Are these apps needing updates for the new size or do I have some type of setting wrong on the S4?
Any help is appreciated.

How does it look with Nova Launcher??
Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk
Hi - I've been looking to replace my launcher from touchwiz as I need landscape orientation for the home page.
Do any of the alternative launchers support split screen? Doesn't look like Nova, Action Launcher or Google Launcher do, and I cant find Samsung's Good Lock for some reason as I thought that might.
Any ideas? Thanks
Samsung doesn't want launchers to work in split screen. That is a design decision which makes sense when you think about it. The same reason that the launcher does not show in "Recent apps".
Fear not, there might be a solution.
A simple trick would be to get the apk that you want to try in split screen and then edit its AndroidManifest.xml file so that the app doesn't know that it's a launcher. (Not sure if you can do that directly but most probably you'll have to Decompile the app -> edit manifest -> Recompile the app.
If you have spare free time you can google how to do all this. And see if its possible. (Most probably it is.)
I found a great solution! I force landscape mode using an app and Nova in split screen - ie I have music on touchwiz one side, and nova on the other. That way I can run any apps split screen. Inside nova I can run maps which wont run on it's own in split screen.
Touchwiz allows this with launcher apps which are not set as the default home.
In fact it works fantastic. I use it along with a floating app launcher so I can press home and it wont take the whole homescreen home, just the nova launcher.

I recently downloaded the GalaxyS8_Dark_clock_noframe.apk and it is WOW! Although I only got to try out the trial version on a Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 with android v6.0 (marshmellow) I noticed that in the gallery app the title for each album is white against a background of white and not black against a background of white or white text against a black background? See attached image.
Is there a freeware theme that is similar with the dark menus, notification window, etc as I don't have that much data so I can't google that much....
Thanks
Since Android 7 there is this function, when you press and hold an icon, app-related shortcuts will appear. But on my Mi A1 with Android 8.0 this shortcuts are cut off when the icon is located in the middle.
Does anyone know how to fix that?
Thanks a lot!
No problem here..are u using stock launcher? Maybe its a launcher bug...try using nova or any other..u can also try reducing the display size in display settings
The shortcuts are only cut off with stock launcher and display size 'medium'. But these are the settings I like most, I don't want to use another launcher or set display size to small or large.
Is it a general bug or is it just me?
put 5 icons in a row and you will see that he is right.
