I have Magisk 17.1 installed with encryption and avb checked out, i reset my pin and click YES to enable pin on boot, when I reboot, no pin is asked. I need this feature because of some new device policy.

Hello everyone,
This is my first post on this forum and am seeking help from the community.
I attempt to encrypt the device with a 5 digit PIN. I get as far as the Android Encrypt logo screen however there is no progress bar or percentage complete. Once the phone's screen goes to sleep (2 minutes after initiation of encrypt procedure), I awaken it and I am immediately brought to the unlock screen to enter the PIN.
I enter the PIN and it brings me back to the Encrypt screen, again with no progress bar/percentage.
This basically can go on forever until I reboot the phone.
When I reboot the device it simply starts up as if the encryption procedure was never initiated. I enter my PIN and check the Encryption settings which show as if I never attempted/initiated encryption.
I then figured maybe it has something to do with the screen turning off so I went into Android debugging settings and enabled "Stay Awake". I attempted the encryption procedure again with the same results with then only difference being that the screen would not go to sleep which meant that it would remain in the Android Encrypt screen until I manually turned the screen off and on. Otherwise same exact result...its as if encryption process isn't starting and is only showing the encrypt logo screen.
I suspect it may be related to the CWM recovery image from information I gleaned from other posts involving different phone models/ROMs but I am not sure how to verify this or address it.
ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!
Thank you!

Had the same problem
I had the same problem a while ago and the solution that worked for me at the time is here.
But I haven't encrypted my phone in a while, so while I think the solution would still work, I haven't verified it.
Hi guys,
Recently i installed the ROMs Phoenix 9.4 and Imperium 10.0, both with S5 style. Both works fine, but one thing not. I configured a PIN Password in my phone, but after reboot the system, the unlock mode is set to Slide Unlock (without password), if i wait the screen turn off or lock the system and try unlock, then the PIN Password is required.
This happened in the two ROMs.
Have a way to fix it?
I would like the password was required at first, immediately after the system becomes available.
Sorry for my english, i wrote with some help of Google Translate.
Thanks!
Did you find a solution?
I have the same issue. It used to work but at some point a few ROMs ago t stopped working.
I was told it was the kernel but I have tried 4 and all with the same result, basically the PIN lock does not activate untill 30 seconds or so after the phone boots up.

No, I have not found a solution. A partial solution was to activate a Pattern Unlock.
Hi! As the title says, I somehow can't use that option.
I had fingerprint scanning for a while but got tired of it so wanted to go back to just swiping but that option is not clickable. I have tried switching to other password methods and that works just fine and I also deleted my fingerprint. But it still doesn't work to use the just swipe option... Any solution? Except factory reset.

Hi,
It could be that you have a device administrator active (Google Device Manger) that requires the screen to be locked by PIN or password. To check and disable it go to Settings> Advanced settings> Security> Device administrators.
Cheers
I tried that now when you answered, but disabling that feature didn't help either..
This option is locked in kernel by Huawei because of encryption policy or credential storage.

What does that mean? And is there a way to bypass that?

It mean, that Huawei try to mentain the security of device. Maybe if you root the phone you can get full acces. You saw if you reset the phone, at start up it's required to insert the pin code. I will analyse this situation.
i have the same problem, the only way to disable the lockscreen code is by skipping it during first setup after resetting the phone
It's possible with a little workaround. Change screenlock to pattern and make a recovery pin -> Turn screen off and on -> Input wrong pattern 5 times -> Wait for the 60 second countdown and press use pin in bottom right corner -> Use your recovery pin to unlock phone and then press home button. That's it.
I contacted Huawei customer service. They told me if I have used encryption before even if you removed it the only way to turn swipe to unlock lockscreen again is to backup your data and factory reset.
Hey!
I have a strange effect. Before getting my OP 5, I used an OP 3T. Encryption with PIN at start was enabled. On all my phones, bootloader is unlocked and the phone is rooted.
My OP 5 is encrypted but is not asking for a PIN at startup (at least not comparable to the OP 3T where the boot animation was short, the PIN was requested and the boot animation reappeared). Nevertheless TWRP needs the PIN.
When switching the screenlock back and forth between PIN and Swipe, I was NOT asked for the PIN at startup.
I get a PIN input before the SIM PINs were asked, but that seems when the OS already loaded.
Is this normal, anyone else experienced this?
Same here, on my 6P (unlocked bootloader + rooted) a pin is asked on the booting process while on my OP5 it is not.
I think it is due to TWRP because on stock recovery a pin is also required.
I would like to see the PIN request during boot for safety reasons.

Same.
I am on Resurrection Remix ROM, today I deleted all the stored fingerprints and also removed pin to unlock and set it to none. But still whenever I boot to recovery it asks for password to decrypt data and also I need to enter pin once during the boot.
.
How to get rid of this issue?
Hello.. you can find the answer here in my thread http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2160858&page=1#pid24917709
