according to this i didn't brick it but i can't get it into download mode!
please help! i can't get passed the vibrant screen.
before the "brick", you could enter recovery mode using the volume keys, right? how are you trying to get download mode? i mean, the type of combination you use.
if the phone its hard locked, then you can get a new one.
If not, tell us more what did you do
OK, instead
1. take the battery out
2. Unplug the usb from the phone
3. Open Odin
4. Put the battery back in
5. Hold the volume up and Volume Down
6. Then while holding Volume up and Volume Down
plug the usb wire in
This should get you into dl mode, hopefully... it worked for me
when I got the phone to computer screen.
HOPE IT WORKS if not try again till it does or repeat what the link tells you its the best way I know.
no i had to use the rom manager to get into recovery

Were you ever able to get into the stock recovery? without using ROM manager? How did you originally Root?... If you never could get into recovery using your hardware keys you may have a "keylocked" vibrant and maybe SOL...
BUT, if at anytime you've been able to get into recovery using the Vol +/- & power combo then you are fine.
Do the same steps as listed above, but when the battery Icon comes up keep holding down the key combo while that "battery" is displayed. At 2 to 3 seconds the screen will FLASH BLACK... LET GO OF POWER. You should now be in DL mode. GL!
are you trying to get into Recovery mode or the Download mode?
For recovery mode this works for me,
Remove battery
Install battery
Press and hold vol+/vol-
Press and hold power button
Once you see the Vibrant Screen do not release any of the buttons (vol+/vol- and power buttons) it will go black then back to Vibrant screen, then you release the power button only but keep pressing the vol-/vol+ buttons... this should get you into recovery mode..
For Download mode this helps me,
Remove Battery
Plug in USB cable to phone and computer
Put Battery In.. wait a couple of seconde until it shows the battery being charge..
Press and hold the vol+/vol- and the power button..
This will power up you phone.. once you see the Vibrant screen and it turn black, release the power button only.. this should get you into DL mode (it works for me). good luck.
I just got my Focus today and even before I turned it on I put my USB jig in and it went into download mode.
Hopefully this will help with future development.

What is a USB jig? And what do you mean by download mode?

Download mode is a Samsung thing that lets you flash new/different firmware with a program called Odin.
The Focus may also have Recovery Mode, which is a way to install packages without the OS running (therefore any file can be replaced bc non are in use).
[MOD EDIT] - Download mode on Samsung Android devices uses Odin for flashing but Samsung WP7 devices use the WP7 Downloader Tool. Lets not confuse other users!
Recovery mode is an Android thing.
Here is how to use the USB jig very simple

I have a Captivate that I use the USB jig on so I thought I try it on my new phone.
It would be a lot better if there were some ROMS to load.
Ya, download mode is easily achieved with a button combo. I just held all the touch buttons, volume down, camera, and power. boom - download mode.

No need to hold the touch buttons. With phone powered off press VOL DOWN, CAMERA & POWER. Phone enters Download Mode.

I beg to differ. CAMERA BUTTON, VOLUME UP AND POWER is factory reset and format. The same button combo with VOLUME DOWN is Download mode.
At least on my phone anyway, and I only was playing with button combos yesterday as I had a replacement phone I was setting up and kept putting it in Download mode by accident. The only difference I could determine was the volume button position.
We are talking a Samsung Focus right ? The three finger salute with volume down button, power button and camera button will reset the phone. There is a confirmation to press the "windows" button after that.

Maybe I had that backwards then, maybe when you do the three finger salute with volume UP it goes into Download mode.
Thanks for the link clarifying though!

Confirmed on my Focus, with phone turned off,
VolUp + Cam + Power = download mode
VolDown + Cam + Power = reformat
As per the title really. Following the update to aag111 it appears that the front camera is dead. Apps cannot see it, the camera app has switch camera greyed out.
Also, previously if I had headphones in then it would warn if I wanted to increase volume then let me do it. Now it is impossible to go over half volume if something plugged in.
Ideas?
Download BlackBerry Virtual Expert, and run the camera test in it. Also try doing a hold power down 32 second reset?
Hi all, how are you?
I have a SM-J730G, and I replaced its broken screen to a non original one.
Now, When I Reboot device in Download Mode (hold Home + Power + Volume Down), then it automatically adjust the brightness to minimum, so I can not read anything on screen in Download Mode.
I mean, brightness in Download Mode is set automatically to very low, and I can not read anything.
Please, Does someone know how to fix this issue?
I appreciate any help you can give me
Press volume up in download mode
Update: after trying to exit SAFE mode, my phone was still in airplane mode and two of my 3rd party widgets were still missing on my home screen. Apparently my phone was out of SAFE mode but had not restored things to the way they were before I entered SAFE mode (ie, widgets still missing and no mobile data) ... I was able to turn off airplane mode and turn on mobile data. One widget I got back on the home screen the other I haven't tried yet. So I think this can be closed.
Power off then back on is supposed to do the trick - nope
The following does not work:
Turn off your Pixel 4 phone.
Once your device is off, press and hold the Power button.
When you see a logo on the screen, let go of the Power button.
Quickly press and hold the Volume Down button after letting go of the Power button.
I checked and my volume down button is working just fine
I cleared cache and uninstalled many apps - didn't help (can't figure out how to display any that may have gotten in there in the past 2 days)
Malware Bytes (already installed on the phone) did not find any problems
This is a problem because SAFE mode won't let my relatively few apps run.
Thanks for any suggestions.
PS: I *DID* turn on SAFE mode while trying to get a bug in the CAMERA to work again. That problem was that once I took a photo the EDIT button would not work - it just went back into camera mode
You should ask this in the pixel 4xl section. This is the pixel 4 (flame) section.
