S7 edge 8.0 Exynos TWRP 3.2.3.0 issues - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello, I have recently rooted my S7 Edge Exynos on stock Android 8.0.
I have followed the manual and installed Magisk. But when I go to recovery menu of TWRP, it can not see the storage (internal storage 0MB), so I am unable to flash zip files.
What may be the issue?
If I just re-flash only TWRP, will everything be preserved (even Magisk) or do I have to completely wipe and re-root again?
I just want to make sure before I proceed.
Thank you

The soloution for (internal storage 0MB),it works now with this twrp with my S7e as it should. The .img is to flash with TWRP or how i did with flashify!!
Fixed, new TWRP version update from my side. Includes full Oreo support! Means after removing encryption, this TWRP will show data storage without any issues!
Other kernel developers may need to adapt (add quota to their fstab).

Galaxy Tab A 8" - SM-T350 keeps getting stuck at flashing Samsung logo

I just got a Galaxy Tab A that came with Android 6.0.1, and keep having issues with it getting stuck at the flashing Samsung logo after rooting.
I first tried flashing CF autoroot using ODIN 3.10.6, and it got stuck at the logo. Then I read you have to wipe cache and data/factory reset, so I did that, and still got stuck.
Then I found for rooting Marshmallow, you need to flash TWRP using ODIN 3.10.7, reboot to recovery, flash SuperSU in TWRP, then reboot, and that time it worked.
I later tried to flash Xposed framework, and to easily reboot to recovery I used the menu option in Titanium Backup. I rebooted to recovery, flashed Xposed, hit reboot system, and it kept rebooting to recovery. Tried turning the tablet off, powering on, boots to recovery every time.
And now, no matter what I try doing, flashing TWRP, SuperSU, CF autoroot, stock recovery, wipe cache, wipe data/factory reset, it always gets stuck at the flashing Samsung logo.
Edit: so it looks like the stock recovery I downloaded was for Lollipop (I can't find the stock MM recovery anywhere), and I think that may be the issue. I've started downloading the full stock firmware and will try flashing it.
I tried rooting my Tab A once on Marshmallow and ended up, also with a bootloop.
You need to flash stock firmware, then try rooting again using SuperSU 2.76. Anything lower will cause the tablet to bootloop. That's because of the nature of Marshmallow. If the system partition is modified, it won't boot at all.
SuperSU 2.76 will basically do a systemless root on Marshmallow and above.

Ok, I have went through the same PROBLEM!!! I have experienced this and tried everything. Thank God, I am here to help you. DO NOT INSTALL CF-AUTOROOT FOR SM-T350! I have tried it too. Somehow, SM-T350 updated to Marshmallow and CF-Autoroot has updated too, but it updated to an older version of the Marshmallow OS. So your SM-T350's boot.img and recovery.img does not match. Same thing with TWRP. DON'T INSTALL TWRP MARSHMALLOW TO YOUR SM-T350! USE THE LOLLIPOP VERSION OF TWRP ON IT! The Marshmallow version of TWRP doesn't work because it is still under development. If you wish to keep it, you have to go to Download Mode and Recovery Mode manually. It is not supported with Third-Party apps, such as Titanium Backup, TWRP Manager, etc. The only TWRP that works well with those things, is the Lollipop version of TWRP. So remember, if you wish to keep the Marshmallow version of TWRP, you have to go to those Recovery and Download Mode manually. If you install the Lollipop version of TWRP, you don't have to worry about anything (Only the dates and time. It comes out as October 1970 on my Tablet [SM-T350]).
If you are wondering right now of how to turn back to Stock Rom and wish to retry with my advice, use Samsung SmartSwitch or updato.com (in Updato, go to OS Upgrade slot and type in the Device. Your device is XAR if you live in the US and bought it there.)
If you are trying to root and you had a backup or you flashed a New Stock Rom, then follow these instructions:
1. Get TWRP Marshmallow (Remember what I said the risks were, look at the previous paragraphs.) or TWRP Lollipop.
2. Flash them through Odin.
3. Your device will reboot, when it's done rebooting, go to Chrome and download this SuperSU .zip file from here: http://download.chainfire.eu/1003/SuperSU/SR1-SuperSU-v2.78-SR1-20160915123031.zip
4. Turn off your device.
5. Go to Recovery mode manually if you are on TWRP Marshmallow (Lollipop Version, it doesn't matter) In order to go to Recovery Mode, press Vol. Up + Power + Home Button
6. Find that .zip file (should be in the Downloads section of your internal storage.
7. Press on it and it will ask you to flash by swiping.
8. It will start downloading in System-less mode, then it will say Reboot Device. Press that. If TWRP says to download SuperSU, DON'T LET IT!!!
9. You are done!
If you want to know how to download Xposed (and maybe Magisk, for System-less version) reply back to me.

Exactly what are you referring to when you state TWRP for MM doesn't work?
It works absolutely fine.
If you are referring to the reboot issue, that is not caused by TWRP itself.
It is caused by reboot utilities.

So, do you know how can I get the Nougat firmware on my rooted tablet without loosing data? (I have SuperSU 2.79, since 2.76 bootlooped my tab and needed to flash stock MM firmware). Should I use Flashfire for this or ODIN? And should I use SuperSU 2.79 or Magisk to root with the Nougat firmware?

Don't know if you still need the info, but I've just worked out TWRP. I've been rooted for ages but never saw your post; it's only because I decided to try TWRP again that I found you in a Google search.
TWRP that works on the J320ZN is for j3lte. To download: https://dl.twrp.me/j3lte/
Others have had issues installing SuperSU.zip in TWRP.... as did I. The only way to get root that would work is CF-Auto-Root..... because usually SuperSU.zip would then cause a bootloop. BUT of course, what I didn't realize at the time, was CF-Auto-Root once installed reflashed stock recovery! But what it DID enable me to work out (once it clicked in my head that this was going to be the issue and after I'd nearly set up my phone again) was that I was getting a dm-verity error.... something I know nothing about other than it's a new thing I have to do on my Samsung Galaxy Tab A. So MAYBE SuperSU wasn't installing because of that? Who knows.
Anyway, now I'm fully working with TWRP and root and it's sticking with no problems.
So install TWRP the usual way....(I used twrp-3.2.1-0-j3lte.img from the link above). If you need help with this quote me and ask, or look for a TWRP tutorial on j3lte (I know the J320YZ uses this TWRP and has a tutorial on how to install TWRP with Odin).
Then install the latest SuperSU.zip:
https://download.chainfire.eu/1220/SuperSU/SR5-SuperSU-v2.82-SR5-20171001224502.zip through TWRP "Install" method.... it must be on your external SD card. Go to the "Install" button on TWRP menu, select storage to extSD and then find SuperSU.zip.
THEN I had to install the Dm-verity and Forced Encryption Disabler through TWRP "Install" method (so this file also needs to be on your external SD card):
https://androidfilebox.com/miscellaneous/dm-verity-and-forced-encryption-disabler/
I used no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip
Then reboot, and reset up your phone.
FINALLY!
Whether you need to do the dm-verity thing I don't know... I'm FAR from an expert. This was all through trial and error but it is the only way to keep root through TWRP without CF-Auto-Root.....FOR ME PERSONALLY.
You could try just TWRP and the latest version of of SuperSU.zip through TWRP....see if that works. If you get stuck in a bootloop, then I just flashed CF-Auto-Root with Odin and it fixed that.... then start the install process again, this time adding dm-verity patch AFTER SuperSU.zip.
If you want to skip TWRP and just root your phone, then the easiest way is to flash CF-Auto-Root with Odin. File at https://download.chainfire.eu/986/CF...etrieve_file=1.

ZE520kl OTA upgrade doesn't work

Hi,
I've downgraded my phone ZE520KL couple months ago but I've forgotten that VOLTE is only available on 7.0...
I've recieved the OTA notification, downloaded the package on the phone, but when it reboots it is going on TWRP & then if I'm rebooting it doesn't continue the upgrade process.
What am I missing? (on my previous phones this wasn't so tricky...) Should I use the Install method directly from TWRP? If Yes on which zip? Is it possible to find the one that I've downloaded directly with my phone?

Same like me before. Have you rooted your phone yet? if yes then try this, it work for me though (Backup your phone is recommended)
1. Download busybox, supersu and no-verity file
2. Using flashfire app, choose flash zip or ota option
3. Add ota 'WW-ZE520Kl-.....'
4. Add firmware 'UL-ASUS-....'
5. Remove tickmark from 'Inject supersu'
And flash, it will reboot but do not boot to system. You must boot to twrp, flash no-verity file, busybox and supersu or your phone will not boot. Then reboot, done.
If this method is helpful, do reply to me
Btw, sorry for my poor english.

Thanks, works wonderfully! Flashfire flashed the new OTAs successfully but the phone didn't then boot (or it bootlooped). A quick Google search led me to your response and the dm-verity file fixed the boot!
I also didn't flash Busybox in case you needed to know and before flashing the OTAs I checked the "Automount" and "Mount systeam as R/W" in Flashfire otherwise the app would just get stuck in a blank screen.
EDIT: WiFI isn't working, tried already deleting the files in /data/misc/wifi, /persist and /data/misc/dhcp as suggested in various threads but still nothing. Anyone know how to fix it before I attempt to do a full backup and wipe?

Deleting files in /data/misc is not helped. Try this:
1. Check your selinux permissive or enforcing. If permissive, you should re-root your phone. Remember to flash busybox too or it will may some crash. Still not working follow step 2.
2. Re-flash the ROM using twrp. No data will be lost. Don't forget to re-root or it will not boot.
3. Try the lastest fw .68 or .75 though someone told that the .28 ota file had issue on wifi.

Reflashing through TWRP worked Although I did it after backing up all the apps and did a factory reset which didn't even fix the wi-fi problem. But then Flashfire is useless if TWRP is capable of flashing OTAs right?

Not really. Since OTA file can't flash through twrp. It really annoying for someone (like me ), so for the easiest way is just flash it using Flashfire, no need to use computer to flash stock recovery .

yep, that's what I've been saying for months. I've never used anything but TWRP to flash my phone. I've downgraded, gone custom and back to stock many times.

Yeah that's what I encountered aswell back 2-3 years ago, I remember I couldn't flash any OTAs via TWRP but apparently now you can. That's why I also used Flashfire in the first place but after running out of all options for the wi-fi problem I decided to give TWRP a try et voilà, it worked

I JUST did it....on 1711.75 now. There was no recovery partition update either so I didn't have to reflash TWRP after :good:
I did have a bootloop issue after but fixed that by flashing the no-verity file. I'm not sure if that's related to having magisk installed though.

1. After reflashing rom through twrp, i lost my twrp. Oh, but when i use Flasfire, it isn't lost.
2. Not sure but after flashing ROM your boot will change to normal so it may not related to magisk or supersu. Maybe it beacause of the twrp, i've tried reflash stock recovery once and i can updated it without flash no-verity file though i've installed magisk.

1. You will only lose TWRP if there is a recovery partition update in the stock firmware, yes, but that doesn't happen with every update. I think I read of a way to block it from updating the recovery partition but can't find the article right now. If flashfire works, use it, I just like TWRP for the other features like making and restoring nandroid backups.
2. I dirty flashed the update again through TWRP, verified the bootloop issue and then installed magisk (through TWRP) and it resolved the bootloop issue. No-verify file not required.

2. The way using TWRP is keep the root ( root or not boot) and stock recovery is contrary ( can't root but will boot) or just flash custom kernel through twrp (not root required).
simple question :
- you are talking about OTA & Firmware...
I've downloaded again from asus website Version WW-V14.2020.1711.75 (I assume it is the latest firmware). Are you simply giving the example of an OTA that is released post the firmware version I have to install to have the 7.0 base?
Or is it anything that I'm missing...
From your explanations I should only :
- install flashfire
- flash the latest firmware
- boot into TWRP & flash no verity
- reboot the system
Right?

simple question :
- you are talking about OTA & Firmware...
I've downloaded again from asus website Version WW-V14.2020.1711.75 (I assume it is the latest firmware). Are you simply giving the example of an OTA that is released post the firmware version I have to install to have the 7.0 base?

Yep, you can also flash the latest .zip via TWRP instead of using Flashfire, it's 100% working for me. Just REMEMBER to flash the no-verity file otherwise you'll end up in a bootloop.
I have newest oreo fw from asus website. Ive unlocked bootloader with official app. Now i want WTRP and root with magisk. I want to know how to flash updates to get all wroking?
1. Flash TWRP via fastboot?
2. Flash Magisk via TWRP?
3. When update will release i must flash whole fw from asus website with TWRP and then no-verity file to boot?
4. Or can i use flashfire app to flash fw from asus website and then no-verity zip?
What is the best solution to have updated system without use PC? Step by step guide will be great THX
Im confuse.
Im using 1711.75 with magisk 15.3 and twrp 3.2.1.0
I have the full firmware of initial oreo
I just have to install flashfire
Flash the full firmware oreo that i have then rboot to twrp to flash no verify zip?

The safest and true way to flash any ota update without any issues by using stock recovery, don't use twrp or flashfire or any other apps.
follow the steps below:
1. When you are rooted and twrp installed, to getback to full stock boot and recovery without wiping data, flash the latest raw image available. For oreo the latest available one for ze520kl is WW_ZE520KL_15.0410.1712.31_M3.10.47.16_Phone-user.raw.zip.
2. Now flash the ota update available normally via stock recovery.
3. Flash oreo support twrp-3.2.1-0 and magisk zip.
4. Done.
I'm periodically upload the latest available ota update for ze520kl in the ze520kl ota update links thread.
Here is the latest one.

Are you sure it really works?
Not a Bootloop or a Brick, right?
I thought this version of TWRP was only for Marshmallow. Will all features (backup data, data restore etc.) work?
please, I need your answer.

Yes
Backup your data and follow steps
You can root with SuperSu or MagiskRoot !
Magisk root can hide your root from apps like (snapchat or ..) recommend !
I test both (supersu & magisk) and work perfect !
I installed Xposed too !

yes, I tried yesterday and it worked fine.
The most important thing to do here is to make Format Data. If you do not format data, it stays in the bootloop.
I noticed that I can not remove system applications with applications such as Link2sd. Titanium backup works; but sometimes he stayed in the bootloop.
Probably at Nougat, we can not remove system applications nor include updates in the system.
(I'm sorry for my bad english. greetings from Istanbul)

I've tried it in many applications; but it does not remove system applications.(Link2sd, system app remover etc.)
System applications were not deleted when I restarted phone.
Only the Titanium Backup application can delete system applications. Sometimes it's a bootloop (I think it's from me).
I uninstalled the applications manually with Root Explorer.

"System" deleted, mild softbrick. Best way to fix?

I am no noobie when it comes to android rooting since I root and flash all of my android devices. But the axon 7 is a really tough son of a b*tch.
I got it brand new. Unlocked the bootloader then proceeded to update to marshmallow just so I can get nougat on my device. Then I installed TWRP so I can flash supersu, xposed and an audio mod zip. I believe this audio mod is what killed my devices since it was not booting into the os. Just stuck at the flashy axon booting screen. I booted into TWRP, deleted data, system and system storage and installed the nougat 2,6gb "update.zip" file. Since then the os is not booting at all, its just stuck at the booting screen, the warning because of the unlocked bootloader. And also, now, stock recovery is installed.
I have an idea how to fix this I am rather cautious so thats why Im asking the experts here first
EDIT: I have the 2017G Version
I have an A2017U, but if you can get your hands on an official Marshmallow zip, then that should hopefully let you boot. From there you can OTA update back to Nougat, then you just need to figure out how to install TWRP again.
Another recovery method is to flash EDL files with MiFlash while your phone is booted into EDL mode.
As for audio mods, I just use Arise, it's very comprehensive and has never bricked my phone.
I have an idea why you can't boot after flashing the Nougat zip: you triggered dm-verity. You must also flash a root zip that patches out the dm-verity. Or you can use @jcadduono's "no verity opt encrypt" zip as an alternative if you don't want to root. Your system and cache partitions should be formatted as ext4, and data should be F2FS. I recommend a full wipe of all partitions except the MicroSD.

If you still have TWRP, download Raystef66's B09 TWRP flashable Stocksystem and Bootstack, plus Magisk 15.2. Flash everything then wipe data.
What broke your device was probably Xposed.
Also, which audio mod are you talking about? Ainur, V4Android, V4ARISE, AK4490 patch, maybe some other?
Thanks for the help! i Managed to flash TWRP in EDL mode (black screen). Then I proceeded to flash nougat B9. I was up all night reading about it and searching tutorials how to flash stock from TWRP. I installed Bootstack and System, supersu 2.79 and xposed. First boot did not work but that was actually in the guide so I had to flash system and root again. My data partition is ext4 and everything works good now. I hope it wont make any problems.
The audio mod was "divine 10" or something. I will try the ones you have mentioned.
Thanks for all the help
