I hope this will be a simple solution. It appears that I am using nearly all of my 20.9 GB of Internal Storage available on my LG G6 (VS988 Rev.1.0 with Verizon). When I connect my phone to my PC and open the properties for the internal storage, the windows explorer shows 20.6 GB are used out of 20.9 available.

However, when I select all the files and folders in my internal storage, it shows that there are only 9.46 GB worth of files in my Internal Storage. This means that there are 11.14 GB of storage that is unaccounted for. Note that I also downloaded a disk analyzer on my phone and it also shows a similar file usage (it has total occupied drive space at 21.64 GB but shows my drive usage at 10.16 GB).
I have my computer set to show hidden files. Are there additional hidden files that I don't have the ability to see? Is it possible that I have a virus that is hidden from my file explorer? I was under the impression that I have 32 GB of storage space, and that ~10 GB of that storage is used for system files, leaving me with the 20.9 GB shown. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
I've included screenshots of my phone's data analyzer below.
Thanks!
I use a great app to find out where my spaces are being consumed - "windirstat" (windirstat.net). There is a portable app somewhere if you don't want to install it on your pc. Gives a nice breakdown visually where the biggest files are. May help you
If you have root you can also use SD Maid apk.
There is a storage analyzer where you can browse folders sorted by size.
Or try to use more functions in there: duplicates, corpse finder etc.

On my I-Mate K-Jam, I have only about 3 MBs of free memory out of 45 MB on my main memory. I have had to move all of my programs installed on main memory to the storage card to avoid that "Warning : your system memory is low" message. My "program files" folder is only 1.74 MB, and my "My Documents" folder is only 2.6 MBs. In fact, all of the folders and files in my base "main memory" directory only add up to 5.89 MB! That means that there are extra files in my registry or in my Windows folder. I've already cleared out the history and "recent files" in Internet Explorer, and that doesn't help much. Here are two pictures of what it looks like :

Download and run ClearTemp. This will get rid of stuff you will never find on your own.
Next, download the exe packer, UPX4PPC. This can be used to further compress just about every .exe file in your drive (with the exception of the Portable Office programs, and a very few system .exe files). The only downside for this tool is you have to hunt them down one by one.
Dig through your My Documents. Chances are it's bloated with a bunch of non-critical crap, like pictures of your pet/girlfriend. Move it to your SD card or delete it. Check the Wizard Wiki to learn how to default the camera to save pictures to your SD card instead of memory.
Lastly, take a hard look at what's been installed (Settings > System > Remove Programs). If you don't recognize it or have never used it, consider removing it.
CEListFiles
From time to time I have the "pleasure" to see my WindowsMobile device struggle with low storage / low main memory. I get that low memory message and have no clue, what caused the problem, which program used the place up or what data files should rather be saved on memory card. Searching for files I can delete on the device itself is painfully slow, especially if I examine the Windows folder and it'S sub-folders. Using ActiveSync and the Explorer on the DesktopPC is better but not efficient too. So I wrote a little tool for myself I want to share with whomever it appeals to use it.

CEListFiles is a tool that displays the device's file/folder structure on your Desktop PC. There are a few special features:
it shows each folders size including all subfolders
it shows ROM files with a little "R" in the icon
it lets you export and import the file/folder structure so you can compare it to a previous state or have the file/folder structure analysed by a more experienced user without need to have access to the device
CEListFiles is easy to use:
connect your device to your DesktopPC via ActiveSync
select the folder you want to examine in the edit field ("/" for the all folders)
click the button bottom left
Attached you find the most recent version CEListFiles 1.5
If you like CEListFiles just buy me a beer.
I'm impressed: great work!
usefull for me too, let's test the speed
I flashed the zip containing the V300A Lollipop ROM based on the official Korean release. I found something suspicious about the free space, I was expecting a lot more free space to be available in the internal memory than on Kitkat since I moved some apps to the SD card. I have only about 2 GB free space reported by the system. If I use a file manager like Total Commander and try to get the amount of space occupied by all the folders in the internal memory, I get about 3 GB of space that should be occupied. I see something funny in the Misc section, as there are 4.65 GB of space occupied by System Data that I can't remove. I suspect that Android does a poor job on mounting the obb and data directories from the SD card and that it reports the space as being occupied twice. Can you share your situation?
Edit: I may have misinterpreted the data that the interface is showing, but I based some of my observations on what KitKat interface was showing me. It still does not explain why summing up the size of the folders does not add up to the occupied size of the internal memory.

I know and I think I understand why. There are 12 GB of internal space left for the user, this space is occupied by apps. I noticed that after a reset the space available to the user on Lollipop is around 7 GB, right after reset. It is too little for me. I had the impression that on KitKat it was more, but it is about the same.
Hi
Is it possible to fully move installed apps to external SD card on Marshmallow ROM? In the past I was using Directory Bind app to do it and it was working ok but on Marshmallow its not working. Is there any solution to do that? I have read about Adaptive Storage feature being implemented on Marshmallow android but I dont see that option on my phone (under Settings-Storage). Is there a way to turn it on somehow? Or if not is another way to do it? I also heard about creating two partitions (fat and ext) on external SD card and using app like Link2SD but is it confirmed working? Whats the best way to do it?
Looks like you can go into each individual app from Application Manager, then go to Storage, and it gives the option to move the app to the External card
Nothing to do this for all apps that I can see though

Using built-in Application Manager doesnt move the WHOLE app and its files to external SD card. Some files stays in internal memory, usually the heaviest ones in obb folder. Tried to do that before moving some games this way but for example Hearthstone game despite being moved to external SD card stil keeps 800MB in internal memory. I want to move all that data to extSDcard.
well...
any luck of extending internal memory?

Have been using the Adoptable Storage feature for a while however I have suddenly reached the dreaded Internal Storage space running out message
As you can see I have 16Gb Internal Storage and a 128Gb SD Card which I have partitioned half of that as Adopted Storage and the other half as Portable Storage

Since my SD Card Adopted has plenty of available space (approx. 50.72GB) where as the Internal Storage has only (750MB) I was expecting that Android would continue using the Adopted storage.
Thinking I had to manually move some of the contents from Internal into Adopted I decided to use the Migrate data
The prompt told me that after the export was completed it would result in freeing up 3.69GB in my device storage.
I'd assume this meant my Internal Storage would gain extra space but instead it was being filled up.
After reading this post from another forum it suggests that the Migrate data does the opposite ie transfer from Adopted back to Internal. Is that right??
From the first image where you see SD card Adopted has 9.11GB used, when you drill down it tells me 13.28GB is used
Then if I choose one of the apps from drilling down Used space eg Word it says its stored in external storage device
When you press Change to have a look it says its in SD card not SD card Adopted.
This makes no sense as I had previously transferred it to Adopted. And when I select Adopted on this screen it still stays as SD Card.
So is this how it is for others?
